How to get rid of background noises?

what would be the best way to edit a track to get rid of background noises like a guitar bleeding into the vocal mic?

Three things to try:
1) Insert the Noise Gate plug-in. Use judiciously, or you'll truncate the vocal (breaths, lip noise etc).
2) Use 'Strip Silence' on your vocal track (Audio Window)
3) Double-click on vocal track (Sample Editor) and using the change gain function, reduce the spilled noise in sections that are bothering you.
Which one works best for you depending on your track, but if the guitar bleed is too loud +while the vocal is present+, there's not really a magic filter to get rid of it.

I'm using movie program how do get rid of background noise and put music over top of video

    Niel,
Thanks for your suggestion about using RCDefaultApp. I am hesitating to do this because it seems like I'd be installing still another piece of software to fix the original mistake---downloading Reader.
About 20 years ago I maintained---with considerable handholding---UNIX systems of various sorts. Can you suggest how I might find the plist that seems to require changing?
BTW, Preview is called whenever I open some random .pdf file. The problem appears when I want to get a file from the web. If the site permits a "download" I can get the file, but if I want to "view and print" the file, the evil dark-grey Adobe screen appears with the whirling black ball. Then Safari quits. I'm wondering if the reference to Reader is in a "cookie" sent from the website, when I first was installing Reader. Is this possible?

  • How to get rid of background noise when recording voice on iphone 5 ?

every time i record a voice over i hear wierd background noise can someone tell me how to get rid of it im using my headphones to record btw

Go to System Preferences / Sound and click on the Input button. You should see two items listed in the device menu: the Internal Microphone and Line In. (There may be others if you also are using your USB or Firewire ports for input devices.)
Select Internal Microphone and adjust the Input Volume control to the far left (minimum). This will mute the computer's internal microphone.
Then select the Line-In (or other device) and adjust the input level as needed to make your recording.
    Good luck.

  • How do I get rid of background noise?

Trying to get rid of background music from a speech given. The speech was infront of a mic so that audio is strong. Just need to get rid of the music in the background. Any suggestions?

FYI: Much of noise reduction depends on what "type" of noise you are trying to eradicate. E.g., in a sample piece of footage involving an interview with a lady in a cafe, there was a busy street outside.. just at the point in a critical line in her speech you could hear a break squeal in the background, you know, that high pitch squeal you hear from disc brakes from a vehicle!
Interesting bit! > What I learnt was that I could visualize the squeal frequency in the spectrum analyser.. it was very clear to see the offending noise.. then to eradicate it (and ONLY the break sequel) Using the mouse pointer I could simply select the spectrum print of the actual noise and press Delete! Amazing! Very quick but most importantly, absolutely no effect of the dynamics of the surrounding audio. Very Cool!

  • Tracing a png - how to get rid of background

I've imported a png of a simple black drawing on a man (Like you get on a toilet door) with a transparent background and tried to trace it to a vector but I can not get rid of the white background. i've tried it as a jpeg to see if the trace command would generate two layers one for the main drawing and one for the background that I could delete, but it di dnot. I tried setting the Trace fuction to just outline but that did nto work either.
Can someone tell me how to get rid of the background when tracing a simple image or break apart the object to get at the background shape?
    Kevin

Yes I tried each othe the options on the trace and I always end up with a solid white background.

  • How to get rid of wind noise on the audio track

I am sure there must be a method to get rid of wind noise on the audio track. Can someone tell me what the best filter is for this purpose as I shoot mostly outdoors and even with a sock covered mike I pick up the wind noise? I have FCS and therefore Soundtrack Pro. Are there filters in the audio filters section of FCP or must I go to STP? Thanks in advance!

I shoot mostly outdoors too, and it gets pretty windy where I live!

I hope you mean you have a Rycote "Softie" or something similar protecting your mic . . ?
If so, you should be able to shoot in quite a high wind without any "wind noise" - but of course, even if your "sock" is correctly fitted and working well, you'll pick up the sound of the wind (different thing altogether).
If you have the right gear and are experiencing the buffeting sound you get with an unprotected mic, then I suspect there are gaps somewhere - so tape them up!
Either way, for removing unwanted sound, I know of no tool like the Linear Phase EQ filter in STP. Like everything new, it takes a little time to learn but it's very well worth it. With practice, you can almost slice out much unwanted sound like a knife.
I'm not sure why you don't want to use STP - it opened up a whole new world to me - and it's easier to learn than FCP IMHO.

  • In Adobe Elements, how do I get rid of background noise in my audio?

I just bought a USB microphone to help with my narrations on adobe elements. How do i get rid of the feedback and the echoing noises in the background of my audio?

What version of Premiere Elements are you using and on what computer operating system is it running?
Classically USB microphones do not work with Premiere Elements (any version) for use with its Narration Tool. Have you found otherwise?
Where is the noise - in narration clips produced by the Narration Tool or from imported audio files added to numbered Audio Tracks and/or soundtrack?
From what you wrote, it appears that the audio noises are confined to the narration being produced with your microphone and Premiere Elements Narration Tool. Is that correct?
Under fx Effects there are audio effects that you can explore to reduce noise. See Reference Effects Adobe document for a description of the fx Effects audio effects.

If you use the same microphone and create your narration in Audacity and import that narration into a Premiere Elements project, do you get noise in your narration?
Audacity: Free Audio Editor and Recorder
Besides making sure that your microphone is compatible with Premiere Elements, have you evaluated your narration recording techniques...how close are you to the microphone, room noise level while recording, etc.

  • Help to get rid of background noise in GB3 when recording voice on Sony mic

I am recording my voice into GB3 using a Sony ECM-MS907 condenser microphone connected to the line-in input on my iMac (core duo 20"). I use basic vocals with no effects.
My voice records fine but there is a background noise underneath which I can't seem to get rid of. It is also present if I use the built in microphone. I don't think it is room noise as it is pretty constant throughout.
I have added a backing track which helps to mask it but this is not really satisfactory.
Any ideas how I can record without this apparent interference?

  • Getting rid of background noise when recording cassettes

How do I get rid of the hissing background noise when I transfer cassettes into GB?

    portercm wrote:
Thanks - this is totally new to me. What sort of software do I need to clean up the noise after the fact? I'm dealing with old cassettes and a cassette player with no dolby option.
there's a bunch of applications that will clean up or "restore" noisy audio, and they range a lot in price and features. Here's a few options:
Bias makes Soundsoap 2 (around $100) and Soundsoap Pro (around $550). Bias makes some great audio software, so Soundsoap 2 might be more than adequate.

If you think you might want to use Roxio's Toast 10 Titanium Pro (around $115), it comes with a version of Soundsoap included. As long as you don't need the features of a dedicated noise removal application, it's a pretty good deal:

  • Getting rid of background noise

I've got some interviews that were done in a factory, and there is a constant hum of the factory machines in the background. I've tried a number of different audio filters in FCP, but I can't get it right.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Eric

Aside from the previous helpful suggestions:
Expander Noise Gate Filter can be helpful for this. Try the threshold at about -15 and the ratio at 1.5
Adjust the threshold and see what happens. I wouldn't adjust the ratio that much.

    funwidowlady,
Good afternoon!  I'm glad I can be here to help with this error. In the device this application is identified only as 'Talk', so that be more familiar to you. First I recommend opening the 'Market' app on your phone, then Menu>My Apps to see if this application requires an update. It will display a list on top of all applications that need to be updated. If nothing exists, tap 'Home' and go into 'Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>Talk, then tap 'Clear Cache' and 'Clear Data' to remove the history of that application and stop the notifications.  The app will remain on your phone for future use, if you desire to take advantage of it. Do you see the color in Designer, or only Acrobat. If it's only in Acrobat, try changing the menu item Forms >> Highlight Fields. This toggles entry field highlights on and off.
    Mark
You can shut off or change the highlight with this
    app.runtimeHighlightColor = color.red;
    if (app.runtimeHighlight)
    app.runtimeHighlight = false;
