How to get rid of  BING on Safari?

Hi, just got Microsoft BING on my Safari without asking for it.... and I cannot get rid of it...
Would someone help me please?
Even when I ask for Google or another one, it's Bing appearing....
Thank you.
Flo

You installed the "Genieo/InstallMac" rootkit. The product is a fraud, and the developer knowingly distributes an uninstaller that doesn't work. I suggest the tedious procedure below to disable Genieo. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the rootkit (as long as you never reinstall it.)
Malware is constantly changing to get around the defenses against it. The instructions in this comment are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data. You must know how to restore from a backup even if the system becomes unbootable. If you don't know how to do that, or if you don't have any backups, stop here and ask for guidance.
Step 1
In the Applications folder, there should be an item named "Genieo". Select it and open the Finder Info window. If it shows that the Version is less than 2.0, download and install the current version from the genieo.com website. This may seem paradoxical, since the goal is to remove it, but you'll be saving yourself some trouble as well as the risk of putting the system in an unusable state.
There should be another application in the same folder named "Uninstall Genieo". After updating Genieo, if necessary, launch "Uninstall Genieo" and follow the prompts to remove the "newspaper-style home page." Restart the computer.
This step does not completely inactivate Genieo.
Step 2
Don't take this step unless you completed Step 1, including the restart, without any error messages. If you couldn't complete Step 1, stop here and ask for instructions.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
/Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.
If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder should open with an item named "GenieoExtra.framework" selected. Move that item to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password.
Move each of these items to the Trash in the same way:
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.update.plist
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.engine.plist
/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist
/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist
/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
/usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib/usr/lib/libgenkitsa.dylib
/usr/lib/libimckit.dylib
/usr/lib/libimckitsa.dylib~/Library/Application Support/com.genieoinnovation.Installer~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.download.plist
~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.update.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those listed above, move them as well. There's no need to restart after each one. Some of these items will be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
Restart and empty the Trash. Don't try to empty the Trash until you have restarted.
Step 3
From the Safari menu bar, select
Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including ones called "Genieo" or "Omnibar," and any that have the word "Spigot" or "InstallMac" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Your web browser(s) should now be working, and you should be able to reset the home page and search engine. If not, stop here and post your results.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install this software. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad has a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If youever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Genieo developer has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight is inexcusable and has seriously compromised the value of Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.

You may have installed the "Genieo" or "InstallMac" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove this file in the same way:

If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those you find, remove them as well.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, then you may have one of the other kinds of adware covered by the support article. Follow the rest of the instructions in the article.

  • How to get rid of Bing

I tried looking on here for help to get rid of Bing but besides a really long process and searching all day for some way to get rid of Bing I finally found a way!!  Going to preferences didn't do a thing and neither did a lot of other things that people had said to try.  I don't think they were having the problem so how could they know their tips didnot work.  I finally found something about a program called Glims. I downloaded it and now I am back to being able to use Google. I even got rid of Bing all together. You can choose what search engines you want to see and chose from them when you want. This all started when I started using Safari 7.  Anyway, Glims is a add-on to Safari and it works great. Plus a lot easier than what someone else suggested to make sure you backed up your computer because you might not be able to reboot it if something went wrong. You can get Glims from MacUpDate or MacHangOut and the best part is that it is FREE.  I hate Microsoft and after today I hate them even more.

You may have installed the "Trovi," "Conduit," or "SearchProtect" ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it.
Back up all data before making any changes.
Besides the files listed in the linked support article, you may also need to remove these files in the same way:

"SearchProtect" may be distributed along with two other applications: "MacKeeper," which is a scam, and "ZipCloud," which, if not actually a scam, has a dubious reputation. Ask if you need instructions to remove those items.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. • How to get rid of Bing in the search bar

When downloading a game (someone not me) failed to uncheck the box for downloading a gamesbar. IE, Chrome & Firefox got a new homepage and Bing as default search engine. I fixed the homepages. I believe I fixed the search engine on all but firefox. I uninstalled the gamesbar & any games that came with it. I also uninstalled Firefox, deleted the firefox setup.exe file, then downloaded Firefox & installed it. Guess what persists...Bing in the searchbar. This is to the right of the address bar. I hate Bing.
This feels invasive. I cannot figure out what to do. I won't use Firefox until I get rid of Bing. I wonder why it is easier to drop Bing from both IE & Chrome. Anyway, Please someone help me.

Right-click on your [[Search bar]], click "Manage Search Engines", then select the one you wish to remove and click "Remove".
Also note that in current versions of Firefox, both Yahoo and Bing do come preinstalled as an available search to select, though Google is the default. Some people requested them I think, but the list should always be customizable.
If simply removing it from your list doesn't work, you may have some dubious addon forcing things for you. -> [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]

  • How to get rid of Stand in Safari?

Since I have installed Mountain Lion, with Safari 6, I get error messages all linked to Stand. It doesn't prevent Safari from functionning.
I have tried getting rid of Stand in Safari.
I have erased the bundle in the SIMBL folder.
I have erased the folder within the Safari folder, in the library.
I have erased preferences, such as jp.hetima.SafariStand.plist
Nothing related to Hetima (which does Stand) appears to be left on my computer. Did I forget something?
I have log out and even rebooted my computer, before starting Safari again.
Stand keeps jumping back in the menu of Safari.

    Uninstall SIMBL as follows.
Select Go ▹ Go to Folder… from the Finder menu bar, then enter the following text in the box that opens:
    /Library
A folder will open. From that folder, delete the items listed below (some may be absent.) You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
    Application Support/SIMBL
    InputManagers/SIMBL.bundle
    LaunchAgents/net.culater.SIMBL.Agent.plist
    ScriptingAdditions/SIMBL.osax
Log out and log back in.
Make sure you never reinstall SIMBL. It’s likely to come bundled with another third-party system modfication that depends on it. If you want trouble-free computing, avoid software that makes miraculous changes to other software, especially built-in applications. The only real exception to that rule is Safari extensions, which are mostly safe, and are easy to get rid of when they don’t work. SIMBL and its dependents are not Safari extensions.

  • How to get rid of Bing search in URL?

I like to visit my frequently accessed webpages by beginning to type the address (ie. "sub" to get to my youtube subscriptions or "f" to get to facebook).
Now, out of nowhere, this awful Bing search comes up ( with the magnifying glass symbols) first and blocks my normal drop down menu. "Sub" brings up the Subway menu search option in Bing. I am highly irritated. I do not want Bing forced on me.

How do I get rid of this?!

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * On Windows you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux you can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by quitting Firefox and then going to your Terminal and running: firefox -safe-mode (you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.

''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''
    Thank you.

That is the only place it shows up, but it is sooo annoying because I always go straight to typing whatever url I a going to, and this bar changes my cursors postion to it. How do I get rid of it?
I have looked in plugins/extensions. It is not there. I have looked in program files, and in control panel -> programs. Nothing there either. I even went into about:config and reset everything that had a bing value. Still having the problem. What else is there to try?

  • How does one get rid of Chinese in Safari thank you very much anyone got an idea

Apple have done a great big mistake visibly. How can they have released a new iOS which does not take into each machines configuration.
Maybe it's only about money. Now the boys to the top and the job's family have made a great deal of money out of apple, no one really cares.
In the meantime, if someone does have a way of solving my problem of how to get rid of Chinese in Safari I would be very grateful.
Also the photo upload and other features within the photo system had been changed. It is now difficult to delete photos in bulk and the machine. Is there a solution to that issue?
What I don't understand is this indicates that someone is playing around with making iOS worse not better giving full steam ahead to someone like Samsung and others to pounce.

The Favorites view is create based on a list of bookmarks in a bookmarks folder called "Favorites".  You may remove the Chinese web sites from the Favorites view by removing them from the Favorites folders in Bookmarks.
    1. Launch Safari.
    2. Tap the "Bookmarks" icon to the right of the address view.
    3. Tap the "Bookmarks" tab (the one on the left).
    4. Tap the "Favorite" folder.  You should see the list of Chinese web sites.
    5. Tap the "Edit" button.
    6. Delete the unwanted bookmarks.
    7. Tap the "Done" button.
Note that if you want to add your own websites to the Favorites view, just add a bookmark to the Favorites folder while you're viewing the website.
Also note that changing the language setting won't change the sites in Favorites.  The list of sites is created on first upgrade to iOS 7.
