How to get rid of "empty" volume

I have a Standard setup of Leopard Server.
When each user connects to the server the get an option to mount an "empty" volume. What's this and can I get rid of it without breaking anything?

Workgroup Manager that is. Thanks, that did the trick.
Also, all you need to do is select 'None' then save and it gets rid of the var in the process.

  • How to get rid of EU volume limit?

I'm currently resiziding in France, and I want to purchase an iPhone 4S here. But I went to the Apple Store and checked the max volume, which is considerably lower than my USA iPod Nano due to EU volume limits.
    Now my question is this
Are there any legitimate ways to get rid of EU volume limit? For example would it get rid of it if I restored the phone's firmware when I'm in USA or any non-EU country due to IP check? Or is the firmware the same all over the world and just checks for the devices serial number to see if it's a EU model so it wouldn't matter?
Jailbreaking does get rid of the volume limit through some SSH trick, but I don't want to jailbreak my iPhone simply to remove the volume cap.
And before someone starts with the entire "Why do you need to remove the cap? Do you want to get deaf?" argument, I'd recommend to try to listen to classical music, especially quiet passages, on a subway, with a EU capped iDevice.

I recently took delivery of a new 160GB iPod Classic, and was shocked at how low the volume is. Impossible to even hear the music above London traffic, it was ridiculous (and my hearing is fine). I was on the verge of returning the thing to Apple as useless, when I discovered a little gadget called the FiiO E1 headphone amplifier. It only costs just over a tenner from Amazon, and it works very well. It plugs into the dock socket, and you then plug your headphones into the FiiO gismo. Bingo! Music that you can actually hear. Strange that the EU is trying to ban musical enjoyment, eh? And annoying, after having forked out a lot of money for the iPod itself, that I then had to buy a peripheral device to make it work properly. And even odder, a 6th Generation iPod Nano that I bought only a year ago had no such problems.
As a footnote, I use Grado headphones, and there seems to be no distortion or degradation of sound using the FiiO device. My advice would be to try one out, as it's so cheap. It has a couple of design irritations, in that you can't lock' the controls, but it's working for me, certainly as an interim solution.

  • How to get rid of empty track.

Ok, another question for you. How do I get rid of empty track? I've got my film and then loads of empty track that I cant get rid of and when I put it into Quicktime it copies all the empty stuff too and it takes twice as long.

You explained it fine. FCP recognizes the end of your sequence. YOu can't delete the end. If you are getting loads of black at the end of your movie that would suggest that you have a clip somewhere way down the line that you are not seeing. Press shift-z to fit the timeline in the timeline window. Your movie should fill the timeline. If not, look at the end of the timeline and delete any media that you don't want to be included.

  • How to get rid of empty lines in a file?

How can read a file "text.txt", delete all the empty lines and restore it to same filename "text.txt" without using a temporary file?

Ages ago I ruined an 8" floppy disk drive by doing something similar to
this: let b1 b2 ... bn nl be a series of blanks followed by a newline
character (nl) and let c1 ... cm be a sequence of other characters. Let
    the total relevant sequence be:
    b1 b2 ... bn nl c1 ... cm
Reverse the entire sequence: cm ... c1 nl bn ... b2 b1 and then
reverse the first m bytes: c1 cm nl bn ... b2 b1. Now repeat the entire
thing for the sequence c1 ... cm by checking for more blank lines in it.
After this has all finished, simply truncate the file.
The advantage of this method was that I only needed to be able to swap
two bytes in a file; the disadvantage was that the floppy disk drive
    couldn't handle it ;-)
    kind regards,
    Jos

  • How to get rid of empty space in module pool screen?

    Hello Experts,
In module pool, I have 2 table controls inside 2 separate boxes in the same screen. Based on some conditions I hide the first table control. It's all working fine. But the space where first table is created remains blank in the screen. I don't want that.If the first table control is hidden the second table control should occupy the empty space. I do not want empty space in the screen.
How can I acheive this.Is there anything I can set in the screen attribute level.
    Thanks.
    Yasin.

    Hi Yasin,
As you said you have 2 sub screen areas and also 2 subscreens.
when hide the First subscreen from First Subscreen area, you need to assign the second subscreen on to the first subscreen area and a dummy subscreen on to second subscreen area, this is a kind of work around and bit tricky playing with screen elements
    in Top Include
data dynnr type sy-dynnr value '100' " your default Subscreen number
    in PBO
call subscreen sub1 including sy-repid dynnr1 " First Sub screen area
call subscreen sub2 including sy-repid dynnr2 " Second sub screen area
    in PAI
    module call_dyn_number.
    in program.
    case ok_code.
when 'HIDE'. " When you hide the first table control
dynnr1 = '200' " This is your second table control containing Screen number
dynnr2 = '300'. "This is a Dummy Screen Number which doesnt contain any screen elements so output is plain
" Note: This is a crude IDEA only as you try to implement you need to adjust this for the expected outcome
" I implemented this earlier but dont have complete ref at this moment
    endcase.
    Hope this serves your purpose

  • How to get rid of volume warning?

    Hi!
I've got a Curve 9320 instead of 8900 recently. And I cannot find how to get rid of that annoying warning about exceeding the recommended volume.
Every time I tick the checkbox "I understand this warning" and then click on Continue button. And it's OK until the next turn off of the 9320 (I turn it off every night). The next morning it will give that warning again if I will try to increase the volume of music.
Where I can find an option to switch that warning message off?

    Hey f13bis,
Welcome to the BlackBerry Support Community Forums.
    Thanks for the question.
Open Media on the BlackBerry Curve 9320 smartphone and press menu>Options.  Put a checkmark for Audio Boost and accept the terms and press Menu>Save.  Then try to increase the volume.
Let me know if you have any more questions.
    Cheers.

  • I've got OSX/Genieo.A virus on my mac and don't know how to get rid of it and why I have it

I've got OSX/Genieo.A virus on my mac and don't know how to get rid of it and w I have it

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You installed the "Genieo" malware. The product is a fraud, and the developer knowingly distributes an uninstaller that doesn't work. I suggest the procedure below to disable Genieo. This procedure may leave a few small files behind, but it will permanently deactivate the malware (as long as you never reinstall it.)
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Frameworks/GenieoExtra.framework
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
    from the contextual menu.
If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder should open with an item named "GenieoExtra.framework" selected. Move that item to the Trash. You'll be prompted for your administrator password.
Move each of these items to the Trash in the same way:
    /Applications/Genieo.app
    /Applications/Reset Search.app
    /Applications/Uninstall Genieo.app
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.update.plist
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.engine.plist
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client.plist
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/com.genieoinnovation.macextension.client
    /usr/lib/libgenkit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libgenkitsa.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckit.dylib
    /usr/lib/libimckitsa.dylib
    ~/Library/Application Support/com.genieoinnovation.Installer
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.download.plist
    ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.genieo.completer.update.plist
If there are other items with a name that includes "Genieo" or "genieo" alongside any of those listed above, move them as well. Some of these items will be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
Restart and empty the Trash. Don't try to empty the Trash until you have restarted.
    Step 2
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including ones called "Genieo" or "Omnibar," and any that have the word "Spigot" or "InstallMac" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Your web browser(s) should now be working, and you should be able to reset the home page and search engine. If not, stop here and post your results.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install this trojan. Chances are you got it from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad has a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If youever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that this Internet criminal has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing, has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
Finally, be forewarned that when Genieo is mentioned on this site, the attacker sometimes shows up under the name "Genieo support." He will tell you to run a fake "uninstaller." As he intends, the uninstaller does not completely remove the malware, and is in fact malware itself.

  • How to get rid of files on time machine that no longer exist

I replaced my computer several months ago when my old one died. A large amount of data which was in a partition on my old computer is still on my time machine and is taking up a lot of space and forcing time machine to delete backups much sooner than I would like. I don't know how to get rid of it. If I try to delete that folder from an individual backup, I get the message, "The operation can't be completed because backup items can't be modified." Of course, I can't delete it from my new computer because it's not there! Any help appreciated.
    Marion

The best method is to archive the contents of the TC to a disk.. archive is available via the airport utility.
Simply plug in a USB drive large enough to store all the material presently on the TC, 1TB or 2TB or 3TB.. whichever model it is.
Archive I have drawn red box around.
Once the archive has completed ..
Use the Erase disk.. just the Quick erase is ok.. takes a couple of min and then you have a nice empty drive to start loading TM backups on.

  • Having 200+ GB of "Other" Space in HD.. How to get Rid of it?

So I have 200 GB of other in my storage and Ive tried OmniDisk to get rid of stuff but nothing is making it have more space. Anyone have any other ideas to how to get rid of all this other space?

Freeing Up Space on The Hard Drive
      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • How to get rid of locked file

I have a file that's locked that I kept in a folder titled junk because five years ago I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Just installed a new HD and tried to trash the folder and file. It's not working and now it's in two places because when I moved it it asked for name and password, then copied it into the trash and left it on the desktop. I know there must be a way to get rid of it. Secure Trash in Onyx didn't work. the file is nununu HFS+private data?
    Any suggestions?

    *Trash Problems*
If trash can't delete because an item is busy, try restarting the computer.
If trash won't delete because an item is locked, try holding down the option key when emptying the trash.
Try booting to Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting, restart may take a long time but let it go), sometimes just doing that works. Restart normally.
