HOW TO GET RID OF MAIL?

I have updated to Snow Leopard. If I go into Mail and delete the stuff I don't want and then empty the trash it disappears. If I then log out of Mail and log in again it all reappears in my InMail box. Is this a bug or am I misunderstanding something?

One of the Mail quirks in my (former) iMac G5 was that an old email from a folder of saved emails (2005) insisted on residing in the Inbox. If I deleted that one, another one from the 2005 folder took its place. I finally gave up and ignored it.
The G5 crashed last week, and I am the excited/frustrated owner of a new iMac (24"). The hard drive from the iMac G5 was fine (thank goodness), so everything was transferred over.
I have had problems with Mail (mostly regarding sending) but think they've been resolved... except that instead of one 2005 email lingering in the Inbox, I have multiple copies of the same one!!! I have tried deleting them in a variety of ways and finally deleted the entire 2005 folder. If I leave the Inbox, I return to find usually 5-7 copies, but it can be 4-9.
I also cut and pasted all the desired emails into a new 'Inbox backup' folder to see if that would help in some way. It didn't.
The email is listed in the Inbox as being from me (to an unknown recipient), but when I click on it, it's completely blank.
Another problem, and I don't know if it's related or not, is that when I had to go thru the server web site to send emails, I could see all the emails just fine. Two days ago, I noticed that the font was goofy on the emails, but when I clicked on 'Reply,' they were fine. I've also noticed that the font has been a bit goofy on a couple of blogs.
I went to the Fontbook and verified all the fonts. There was one with 'severe' problems and several with likely problems, and I deleted them all.
Is there anything else I should try? Compared to others' problems, this is pretty dinky, but I'd love to get it fixed if possible!!!
Thanks!

How do I get rid of the red mail count number from e-mail icon?

Normally the number that appears in the red circle on your Mail app refers to the number of unread emails you have. Sometimes though the Mail app gets confused and doesn't work properly. If you are seeing that big number and are sure that you have no unread emails, then I suggest quitting the Mail app like I describe and then reset your device. Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

  • How to get rid of Mail stuck in Apple Mail Exchange Inbox?

I have my Exchange 2007 Account set up in Apple Mail.  Recently, there is one email (duplicated about 10 times) that I can't delete.  Every time I try to delete, I get an ambigious Exchange error message.  I've tried deleting and re-provisioning the account, but that doesn't work.  I don't have this issue when accessing my Exchange account from a PC or other Apple Devices, only from my MacbookPro Apple Mail.  How can I clear this and delete these stuck emails?  Thank you.

Click and hold an icon until they all start jiggling and a X appears. Click the X to delete the partial download.

  • When I try to buy something, I get an Apple-ID which is not the one I want to use, and I don't know how to get rid of it either, so that I can use my ID, which is in Mail, Contacts etc. The ID I get, I can't find, so that I can delete it. What to do?

When I try to buy something, I get an Apple-ID which is not the one I want to use, and I don't know how to get rid of it either, so that I can replace it with my ID in Mail, contacts etc. The ID I get without wanting it, I can't find anywhere. I have to delete it. How do I solve this problem, anyone?

My content was obtained through another ID, which popped up earlier. Now this one doesn't pop up, and my current ID doesn't pop up either, but another one. How do you find an ID which is not in the store, and not in Mail, contacts etc. either?
Or is it possible to write the ID yourself when you want to buy something, not only to have it popped up being unable to be changed?

  • How to get rid of automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail?

I have recently setup an OS X 10.6.2 Server for our small office. I got the domain name wrong in the initial install and fixed this by doing a complete clean reinstall of OS X 10.6 server (then upgrade to 10.6.2).
The problem is that one of the OS X 10.6.2 clients had been setup to talk to the server prior to the rebuild. Now on this client, I cannot work out how to get rid of or change the automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail - everytime you login, these are recreated using the old domain name (and of course don't work).
In Mail if you remove the server account (from Accounts in Preferences), it just pops back again. I even removed every trace of the old domain name from the apple.com.mail.plist file but when I re-open Mail that darned server account (with the old domain name) just pops up again.
In iCal its slightly different in that you can remove the account and it stays away while you have iCal open. But as soon as you close and re-open it, that server account just pops up again!
I thought it might be something to do with Kerberos and found a Kerberos file on the client which had the old domain name throughout it - I changed all these references to the new domain name, but still the same behaviour in Mail and iCal.
This is doing my head in. Any ideas?

  • How to get rid of automatically created Mail and iCal accounts on client?

I have recently setup an OS X 10.6 Server for our small office. I got the domain name wrong in the initial install and fixed this by doing a complete clean reinstall of OS X 10.6 server (now upgraded to 10.6.4).
The problem is that one of the OS X 10.6.4 clients had been setup to talk to the server prior to the rebuild. Now on this client, I cannot work out how to get rid of or change the automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail - everytime you login, these are recreated using the old domain name (and of course don't work).

I have the same problem. Every time that I open iCal on the client a new account is created and an error message shown that I cannot login. I can delete the wrong account in the iCal preferences. However, as soon as I restart, the account and the error message are back.
How do I "unbind" and "rebind" a client? I searched the "Mac OS X Server
Open Directory Administration Version 10.6 Snow Leopard" but the only reference to "binding" seems to be in the context of Active Directory which I don't have.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Do you see the color in Designer, or only Acrobat. If it's only in Acrobat, try changing the menu item Forms >> Highlight Fields. This toggles entry field highlights on and off.
    Mark
You can shut off or change the highlight with this
    app.runtimeHighlightColor = color.red;
    if (app.runtimeHighlight)
    app.runtimeHighlight = false;

  • I have very thin, colored lines running vertical on my desktop monitor screen.  I don't know where they come from or how to get rid of them.  I started with one and now have three.  Can anyone give me some insight about what to do in getting rid of them?

I have very thin, colored lines that have shown up on my IMac monitor screen.  I don't know where they came from or how to get rid of them.  I'm concerned now because I started with one and now have three.  Does any know why this occurs or how to get rid of them?

I got an address from Applecare, although I can't place my hand on it right now. I didn't bother persuing the letter route myself as I didn't expect much. I know that the location was Cork, Ireland though as that where the UK Applecare is based as far as I'm aware. The best thing to do is to call Applecare (if it's free) and discuss the issue. State that you are not happy wit the fact that you will have to pay to have the problem resolved especiiay if it is an ongoing problem that has not been resolved. I ended up speaking to a senior manager of the Applecare team who then proceeded to tell me about mailing in my grievence to customer services division or something like that.
If I can find the address I may post it if I'm allowed.
In the case of age, Schools usually have a 5-year life-cycle as they tend to be used differently than consumer machines, i.e. being used constantly on a daily basis for at least 12 hours with no break. you would expect issues to appear after a few years, but I expect problems that arise through defects to be resolved and stay resolved. As I mentioned we had machines for around 2 years before the lines appeared and sent them to be repaired. I'm happy with that. What I am unhappy about is the fact that the problem has reappeared exactly in the same way and now I'm left with around 7 machines that I either pay loads to repair or, the more likely replace the machines with newer ones since the age is now big enough to warrant the replacement.
Sorry for the lengthy moan, but these are the reasons I purchased Apple ahrdware in the first place to avoid the "not our problem" stance some PC vendors  usually take, similar to the Dell monitors thread mentioned in here somewhere.

  • New item icon in iCal suddenly appears and don't how to get rid of it.

I have a little number 1 in my iCal next to my Home calendar on the left side of iCal. It resembles the little number 1 I'd get in the Mail program if I had one new email.
I have no idea where it came from and want it GONE. Can you help?

I just figured out how to get rid of the numbers. Click Notifications on the bottom left part of the Ical screen and some blank invitations will show up. Click one and a box shows up that gives you the option of deleting the Notification/Invitation. I did that for the 4 little boxes and the number is gone.

  • "Open In Tabs." How it got there and how to get rid of it?

I've searched the forums and tried all I can think of but cannot figure out:
    1) How an "Open in Tabs" item got in my Bookmarks Menu -
When I go to Main Menu>Bookmarks, at the very bottom is a dividing line and below it, "Open In Tabs." Yet, when I Show All Bookmarks, I cannot find it anywhere. It's not a folder, it's not a link or site, its not in the Bookmarks Bar or the Bookmarks Menu - but it's there when I drop down from Main Menu>Bookmarks.
    2) How to create my own "open in tabs" with only two bookmarks in it that I can set to open at starting up Safari.
Right now, when I click it, it tries to open everthing in my Bookmarks Menu.
Can anyone explain (how it got there and how to get rid of it) - and help me do what I'm trying to do (open two sites at startup)? Thanks.

I have to apologize, I accidently gave the link to Safari Enhancer when I mentioned Safari Extender.
Safari Enhancer and Safari Extender are two different programs with two different purposes.
Enhancer is a free standalone program to adjust some of the features in Safari that can not be adjusted using Safari's Preferences. It also alows you to make these changes without having to use the Terminal.
Extender is a shareware Safari plugin that adds its own items to the control-click contextual menus in Safari and includes menu items to work with tabs, mail, user agents, printing, and other functions.
Both are useful programs. I have and use each of them.

Are there apps you don't need or use? Delete them.
Is there content you've downloaded from iTunes that you can delete (as long as it's available in iTUnes, you can redownload any previously purchased content)
Do you have any large e-mails in your mailbox? Such as mails with photos.
Do you have photos that you don't want or need anymore?
Settings, general, usage can tell you how much space apps are taking up and that can help you choose what needs to go, what's part of the problem, etc.

  • I've an iMac with OS X 10.4.11. Sudden email problem: every received email has, after the header, 1 - 2 pages of technical data (e.g., Dkim-Signature, Domainkey-Signature, etc.) I don't know why this now happening, and I don't know how to get rid of it.

I have an iMac using OS X 10.4.11. Beginning several days ago, all incoming emails have, after the usual email header and before the message appears, one to two pages of technical data (e.g., Dkim-Signature, Domainkey-Signature, Content-Transfer-Encoding, etc.). This is similar and more complex that the info one receives when an undeliverable email bounces back. I don't know where this stuff comes from, or how it came, and I don't know how to get rid of it. Any ideas? I'm something of a newbie to computers (um, what's a Tag?).

That just sounds like the mail headers. Most people don't know (or care) about them so they're usually hidden.
Check Mail -> Preferences -> Viewing -> Show header detail
I'm guessing it's set to 'All'. Switch it to 'Default' or None as you prefer.
