How to get rid of Mountain Lion and set up Lion again?

Cant set up Lion and get rid of Mountain Lion, some of my programs dont work with ML. Help pleas.

Why not try fixing what you have? First thing to do is identify whether your third-party software is compatible by checking here: App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps - App compatibility and feature support for OS X & iOS.
Now, my preference is to start from scratch meaning erase the drive and reinstall Mountain Lion. That way you start from a stable beginning. Then install third-party software one at a time in order to verify it works properly. I don't know if that's something you are willing to do. So what I suggest you do is just reinstall Mountain Lion without erasing the drive:
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing the Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

I'm using movie program how do get rid of background noise and put music over top of video

    Niel,
Thanks for your suggestion about using RCDefaultApp. I am hesitating to do this because it seems like I'd be installing still another piece of software to fix the original mistake---downloading Reader.
About 20 years ago I maintained---with considerable handholding---UNIX systems of various sorts. Can you suggest how I might find the plist that seems to require changing?
BTW, Preview is called whenever I open some random .pdf file. The problem appears when I want to get a file from the web. If the site permits a "download" I can get the file, but if I want to "view and print" the file, the evil dark-grey Adobe screen appears with the whirling black ball. Then Safari quits. I'm wondering if the reference to Reader is in a "cookie" sent from the website, when I first was installing Reader. Is this possible?

How to get rid of 3rd party and others similar annoying adds????

If you have somehow acquired adware or malware, or maybe some add-ons to your browser
that can be seen in that part of your preference controls for the browser, you may be able to
follow instructions on adware removal to be sure that isn't the problem. You can also go into
the browser and be sure the add-ons don't load.
Some items such as Spigot, genieo, and others can be included in free download or other sites
where the content is spiced with badware; sometimes a click-to-download gets you some other
content instead of what you thought it was. There even are browser redirecting items that keep
you looking at some page you don't want; and if you click on stuff, you may get more badware.

Some may suggest also using a tool by the name Etrecheck, but this by itself does nothing if
you don't know what to do next, however it does give you a partial list of some potential items
that could be indicative of troublesome software or adware, stuff to also remove.

  • A line appeared in the backdrop, how to get rid of it?  (and how did it get there?)

the site was published and everything looked great, except we had to make several changes to the content and somehow along the way a line appeared on the master page (hence appearing on all pages).  i can't figure out how to get rid of it, and it's driving me nuts.  any advice would be much appreciated.
thank you in advance for you help!

    Hello,
Are you talking about the Shadow effect on the page : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-12-05_1415.png
Or is it about the line on the homepage : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-12-05_1416.png
In case it is about the shadow, please go to Master page, click on some blank area and check in the toolbar at the top if there is some effect applied to page : http://trainingwebcom.worldsecuresystems.com/SachinFTP/2013-12-05_1417.png
It can be Shadow, Bevel or Glow effect applied. You can uncheck it and it should be good.
Let us know if it helps or not.
    Regards,
    Sachin

how to get rid of pop-ups for media downloader, flash player, tech support

Click here and follow the instructions, or if there’s a type of adware not covered by them on the computer, these ones. If you're willing to use a tool to remove it(you don't need to, but may find it easier), you can instead run Adware Medic; this link is a direct download.

  • HT4623 How to get rid of YouTube desktop and go back to YouTube Moible

How to get rid YouTube desktop or how to get YouTube working when it's on the desktop version or get it back to Moible for iPad2

There is a Mobile link at the bottom of the web page, although I suspect you already found it is broken and doesn't work. To switch back to the mobile version you will have to clear the cookies and cache for Safari. You will have to log into any web sites you set to remember you again. Go to Settings/Safari/Clear Cookies and Data.
You will have to do the same in any other web browser you are using although the clear data setting may be in an other location. There is also a YouTube app available which is tuned for the iPad and does work a little better.

  • How to get rid of old documents and emails?

    hi,
how do i get rid of old documents and emails from my computer? i know they are there because when i type something in my search bar, i get documents and emails i got years ago. what do i do to get rid of these things?
    thank you,
    yellow_lamp
what i meant to say, if i didn't say it clear enough, was how do i get rid of old documents and emails that are not currently in my document folder or in my email inbox.

Select the email/s you want to get rid of and then select delete. When all the emails are deleted, select your Trash mailbox, select all the emails and then select delete.
Documents you can drag to the trash (lower right side of Dock). Then empty the trash.
Then stop down to your local bookstore and get some books on Mac OS X.

  • How do I get rid of Mountain Lion?

    Okay,
so Mountain Lion is (for me) an unmitigated disaster. I loved my MBA11, best laptop I had ever had - because it was rock solid stable, fast and gave me a whole working day on battery.
updated to Mountain Lion, and I have had three hard lock ups this morning (something I had never experienced on a Mac before) requiring a power off reset, and the battery life is unbelievable.
In the time it has taken me to type this, my battery has dropped by 5%. It has taken around 2 hours to drop to 35% - previously, 2 hours of typical usage would have dropped me to about 60%
I don't see *any* activity in activity monitor to suggest that I am getting indexing or so on.
Add to that, that the nice "time left" indicator has been removed for no apparent reason (unless it's been removed because it would show up just how bad the problem is...).
Basically, it's a busted flush. the only thing I want to do now is to get rid of the piece of trash and get my old laptop back... except with no re-install media, and no optical drive on a MBA anyway... how do I get back?

The problem here is that I have bought into the Apple Hype of "it just works". I would never have simply updated a windows PC without a complete backup first, but my experience with the MBA had been so good that I didn't recognise that this update might completely wreck my laptop...
so I don't have a backup of anything except my own data (which is synced to a cloud provider).
I would happily blow this machine away and lose everything on it, if I could just get rid of this blasted mountain lion "virus".

  • Is there a way to get rid of Mountain Lion and return to Snow Leopard?

Eversince apple replaced my hard drive due to a recall and I installed mountain lion because it was touted as the greatest, i have been greatly disappointed. My system has slowed to a crawl, and there's just too much going on. I don't see the benefit and feel ripped off.

Restore your backup. (The one you made prior to replacing the operating system)

  • FILES: how do I get rid of EXEC status and set them to open with "none"?

I dropped my laptop and damaged the drive. My computer forensic friend salvaged specific files.
Transfered to a FAT32 drive and then copied to Mac.
Most of files are fine with the exception of some setings files that showed up as Unix executables. The few original files that I have to compare them to, show "Document" as the file "Kind" and the "open with" shows "none" in Get Info
When I look at the contents of the files they look fine. How do I get rid of the EXEC status and set them to open with "none"?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
These are settings files for a set of .wav samples for an AU drum plug-in.

If you have xcode installed, you might want to find out what the type and creator code for these files should be. Since the files have visited a FAT32 file sytem, you will have lost all resource forks as well as type and creator HFS+ meta data.
So assuming you do have xcode, create a new AU drum plug-in file then in the terminal:
    <pre style="padding-left: .75ex; padding-top: .25em; padding-bottom: .25em; margin-top: .5em; margin-bottom: .5em; margin-left: 1ex; max-width: 80ex; overflow: auto; font-size: 10px; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #444; background: #eee; line-height: normal">/Developer/Tools/GetFileInfo newfile</pre>
    Then use:
    <pre style="padding-left: .75ex; padding-top: .25em; padding-bottom: .25em; margin-top: .5em; margin-bottom: .5em; margin-left: 1ex; max-width: 80ex; overflow: auto; font-size: 10px; font-family: Monaco, 'Courier New', Courier, monospace; color: #444; background: #eee; line-height: normal">/Developer/Tools/SetFile -t '(insert type)' -c '(insert creator)' oldfile</pre>
If there's a lot of these you might automate the process using the find command.

  • I lost my HOME and REFRESH buttons and don't know why. Since I can't have them anymore please tell me in detail how I get rid of Mozilla Foxfire and let me know what all I'm going to lose in the process. Thanks, Neil

I have used Mozilla Firefox for almost a year and it was good. Now I make on stupid mistake by upgrading to the new version and I lose my Home button, Refresh button and I don't know how many other buttons.
Since I can't have WHAT I USED TO HAVE please explain in detail how I rid of Mozilla Firefox and what I'm all going to lose in the process.

The home icon by default has moved to the right hand side of the navigation toolbar.
In Firefox 4 by default the Stop, Go and Reload (Refresh) buttons are combined and attached to the right hand edge of the location bar.
When you are typing in the location bar it will show the Go button. When a site is loading it shows the Stop button. At other times it shows the Reload button.
If you want separate buttons stop/go/reload buttons, or want to move the home button, right-click on a toolbar and choose Customize, you can then drag and drop the buttons and place them elsewhere. If you place them in the order "Reload-Stop" on the right hand edge of the location bar they will be combined again. For more details on customizing the toolbar see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+customize+the+toolbar

  • How to get rid of cloud itunes and get back my real complete library

When I tried to watch something today on my apple TV it said that there was no itunes library selected.  Restarted the computer and it wanted me to choose an itunes library.  when I tried to choose the usual one it said that was not a library, so I should choose a new one.  It offered the name of itunes1, so I selected that.  Had no idea that it was the icloud itunes.  Now we only have access to things purchasd from the itunes store and that will download from the cloud.  How can I get my real, complete itunes library back?

I can't really understand what you're saying, but it seems like iTunes is looking for this file:
Just point iTunes to that file.
