How to get rid of multiple instance of same machine

Hi, I have an issue with my MacPro as I have multiple instance of the same computer. Let me explain : My machine appears as MacPro. but sometime it connect as MacPro (2), or MacPro (3) and so on... I now have MacPro (11). This happens when I get problem with my network... it reconnect the machine with a new name... Big deal you'll tell me... let it be that way and carry on... But Here is where I have a problem : Third party application such as SpeedDownload see all those Instance as Multiples machines and now it won't open because it tells me that I only have a licence for one computer and that the software is installed on multiple computers as MacPro, MacPro (2), MacPro (3), ... and MacPro (11).
Is there a way I could get rid of all the other "Instances" and only keep on machine which would be MacPro?

Give each one its own domain name - i.e. a separate directory under config. This
works well.
Production:
Do the same, but to keep licensing costs down, I'd be inclined to run everything
on a single instance.

In the past two weeks I have started getting layers and layers of "sandbox syntax error" and "syntax error" from Java Script while browsing using Fire Fox. How to get rid of multiple vertical scrollbars in portal

I have a webdynro application running inside portal. Sometimes when the generated content is scrolls down, 2 vertical scroll bars are generated. One by the portal window and another by webdynpro app. Is there a way to make it only one scrollbar? It is so annoying to the users. Thanks !

I installed BEA portal 9.2 a while back. Now I also installed AquaLogic Service Bus 2.6.
How can I configure one of them so that workshop refers to one type of domain at a time.
As of now, first installed version seems to take precedence.

How can I get objects of multiple instances of InDesignServer

We need to have InDesignServer running in more than one configuration. And we need to script them. So to keep easy let's pretend there are 2 instances of InDesignServer running. One startet with 'indesignserver -configuration conf0' and the other started with 'indesignserver -configuration conf1'.
So we try (Visual Basic):
dim myIndApp0 as InDesign.Application
dim myIndApp1 as InDesign.Application
myIndApps0 = CreateObject("InDesignServer.Application.CS2")
myIndApps1 = CreateObject("InDesignServer.Application.CS2")
But both objects referring to the instance with conf0. How can we get an object of the second instance?
We tried to solve this using System.Diagnostics.Process.GetProcesses(). So we got both processes. But did not find a way to get an object of class InDesignServer.Application by using an object of System.Diagnostics.Process. Any ideas about that way?

The problem is not to start different instances. In the Windows Task Manager and the console output of InDesign Server I can see, that both instances are running with different configurations. When I use Systems.Diagnostics.Processes.GetProcess() I get both processes too.
But I don't know how to get objects of both instances using the Interop Assembly or (as a runaround) how to cast an object of System.Diagnostics.Process into an object of InDesignServer.Application.
When you talking about SOAP, do you know how to start InDesignServer twice with diffrent ports from inside VB and getting the InDesignServer.Application objects of it?
This should be solve our problem too.

How to get rid of Safari !!!!!

I must have missed the message to install Safari during one of the many iTunes updates and now I'm stuck with it on my computer taking up 60GB of space! I've tried removing it through Control Panel -> Uninstall Programs, but get the message that I don't have administrator privilages - which I do. Thinking I may have had this installed while I was logged in under my main administrator name, I logged off and logged back in under my only other user name and tried again - same message. So I went to the Safari folder and changed all security privilages to full access for both accounts and it still won't uninstall. How can this program claim I don't have administrator privilages when I used the only two user accounts on my computer?? So in a fit of defiance and desperation, I deleted the Safari folder and then ran the name "safari" in Vista's search box under the Start menu (I even included the wildcard .* to catch all examples). Guess what? Rather than find all traces of safari on my computer so I could delete them manually, Safari started running again!! I cancelled the program before it finished loading and went to recheck the Program Files folder and Safari was back there with a full 60GB of files again! I CAN'T GET RID OF IT!!
Safari is a malicious software program as bad as any Malware or Adware I have ever seen! How can I get rid of it??
(and no, I really do not want Safari - I don't care if you think its the greatest thing since sliced bread - I make the choices on my computer, not some software engineer or marketing division and I DON'T WANT SAFARI!!)
Any suggestions on how to get rid of it? Did I miss something?

The Safari update is not clear what it is and provided no explanation of what it was - it simply states "Safari". For all I know it could have been an indexing file for iTunes. There was no explanation as to what is was and the install checkbox was already checked so the unsuspecting may quickly and accidentaly hit install along with the iTunes update, thinking it was a required part of iTunes. Regardless of how it got there, I'm trying to get rid of it and it won't uninstall.
Now you may fancy yourself as some kind of wunderkind software expert, but you apparently do not know Vista because it really does take up 60 GB and every time I delete it, it tries to reinstall itself. These are not multiple installations and I am the only user on this computer. You haven't offered me any help - only insults. If you aren't willing or able to offer help or assistance in the most sincerest form this request was intended, than stay out of this thread. Your actions and insults reinforce the prevailing belief that Apple users are unkind, rude, self-important snobs.

Getting rid of Multiple Spaces in Code View (after Copying/Pasting)

I'm trying to find a way to get rid of multiple spaces between words in Dreamweaver CS3's code view.
Oftentimes, when I copy/paste text from elsewhere (e-mail, website, etc), the Dreamweaver code shows up with multiple spaces. Normally, that wouldn't be problem -- except that my blog's auto-tag plug-in doesn't detect selected phrases when there are multiple spaces between words, e.g., it'll detect "Swiss Alps" in a post but not "Swiss Alps" (notice the extra space between words in the second phrase).
If at all possible, I'd like to be able to keep Dreamweaver's text formatting option when I copy and paste, as that means I don't need to manually put words in bold/italics.So, is there a way to keep that option while getting rid of all the extra spacing between words?
By the way, I'm familiar with Wordpress CSS, but not with Dreamweaver CSS. Not sure if there's any difference.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

I make it a point to never paste formatted text into HTML pages. Formatted text from MS Office usually contains a variety of junk you don't want and I don't have that much faith in MS Word code removal tools.
Bold and Italics from Word or Outlook should be changed to current HTML tags of <strong> for bold and <em> or emphasis for italics anyway. Also see Logical Tags here:

How to get rid of ROWID in Join query -- ORA-00918: column ambiguously defined

the source of my data block is from two tables Emp and Title. My select statements is:
select a.name, b.title, b.start_date, b.end_date from Emp a, Title b where a.id = b.emp_id
But at run time, I got "ORA-00918: column ambiguously defined"
the wrapped statement becomes:
SELECT ROWID,a.name, b.title, b.start_date, b.end_date from Emp a, Title b where a.id = b.emp_id
I run the query in SQL*PLUS, found out it was ROWID caused problem.
Can anybody tell me how to get rid of ROWID? or I missed something in datablock defination?

I guess you are using oracle 7.x. In Oracle 8 and onwards, database lets you select ROWID from the views based on multiple views as long as view definition does not contain any aggregated functions or DISTINCT in it. Now coming back to forms ..Forms runtime engine uses ROWID to identify rows uniquely unless specified otherwise. If you are using forms 4.5/5.0 against Oracle 7.x , then change these properties and you should be able to run the form.
BLOCK PROPERTY
Key Mode : can be either updateable OR Non-updateable
( Certainly not 'Unique' .. That forces forms runtime engine to use ROWID to identify unique rows. )
ITEM PROPERTY
Identify one of the block items as unique. And then set the following property
Primary Key : True.
This should take care of rowid problem.

Some are persistent. Force quit Safari again. Disconnect from the Internet by either turning off Wi-Fi in the System Preferences, or unplugging the Ethernet cable from your router/modem. Hold the Shift key and launch Safari again. If the same popup appears, you will be able to dismiss it and navigate away from the page, or close its tab. Reconnect to the Internet.
Though reading your initial post again, it's sounding more like JimmyCMPIT is correct since you're seeing ads in multiple browsers. It's just rare for one the ads that pops up to be like one of the tech support scams.
In which case, you can either follow Apple's manual instructions for removing adware, or use the free automated tool, AdwareMedic (as mentioned by, and linked to by Jimmy).
It should be noted that Apple's manual removal instructions are typically outdated. Sometimes a lot outdated. It depends on when Apple last updated their instructions page. If you would prefer to manually remove the adware on your system, you can find much more up-to-date instructions on The Safe Mac's adware removal page.

Restore problem - how to get rid of corrupt database ?

Some dumb developer managed to trash on of our Oracle database by doing a mistake in SQLDev.
This database was / is using the "autobackup" feature as proposed in the installation wizard.
For some reason it would seem that the restore is not complete, tough.
I get an error when mounting the database
ORA-01248: file 5 was created in the future of incomplete recovery
ORA-01110: data file 5: <path to file>
not sure to understand what happened but I can live without that specific database assuming the others are ok.
Any advise as of how to get rid of that specific database and enjoy the rest of the server ?!
Nest step will be to understand why autobackup is not doing what it is supposed to do...
This is Oracle 11g standard on Oracle Linux.

1. What statement did the developer issue? What did they do?none - they used the SQLDevelopper GUI to copy tables form db1 to db2
2. What system table was affected?SYS tables where unintentionally affected.
3. What does "erased" mean? DELETE statements? TRUNCATE? UPDATE?
4. What does "corrupted" mean?Corrupted in the sense that the SYS table content was mangled to the extent that the database engine would not run anymore (the database process would not start). This has been fixed after the recovery.
Run some SQL statements and show us what you are referring to. We can not recommend a fix based on what you've posted.Well I can run many statements on a database that will not go into an open state...

Again I can live without that shema assuming it is the only one having problems - but I can't drop it as far as I know...
That said I can log in as SYS and perform a drop database followed by using DBCA to create a new database in less than 20 minutes. Which I expect is more

The banner usually indicates that the memo is "Paused." If you go back into voice memos, touch the word "Done" beside the big red pause button, give it a name, then it will show in a list. Touch the memo in the list then touch the trash can icon that should appear.
