How to get rid of the PDF icons that have locked my files

All of a sudden all files, except Word docs, are locked (no lock symbol, tho') by PDF icons. Please help if you know how to get rid of them. I have uninstalled Adobe Reader, which clears up the locks, but then I don't have any way to open PDF files. I tried re-installing several times, to no avail

AFter installing Firefox yesterday to a Mac Airbook, I cannot get rid of the install icon that is on the desktop - Ejecting doesn't work as it reappears the next time I open Firefox.

Usually the install icon is ejected and the application lives in the applications folder. Not this time. When I eject the icon from the desktop, the next time I open FF, the install package reappears in a window. ??

One reason why this would happen: the Firefox icon that you see on your Dock actually opens Firefox from the disk image and not from the "Applications" folder.
To verify this, control-click on the Firefox icon in the Dock and then select "Show in Finder". In the Finder window that opens, check the path. Is it your "Applications" folder or is it the path to the install disk image? If it is path to disk image, remove the icon from Dock and then drag the icon from "Applications" folder to the Dock.

Try a Battery Pull:
1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)

How to get rid of the "Guest" account that 10.7.2 installes unasked ?

I wondered why I see a "Guest" Account on my login screen this morning - as I didn't use that.
So I went to system preferences to delete it - but I see that I can't delete - the minus Button is greyed out for that "Guest" Account.
I don't need a "Guest" Account as there's no one but me to use my mac.
So tell me please how I get this deleted from my Accountlist.

Ok, that makes it clear - but not helpfull.
1) Why is this account named "Guest" instead of "Find my Mac" ?
A "Find my Mac" account in Preferences/Users would make clear what it is for.
2) Why is this Account shown on my login screen ?
I understand that "Find my Ma" is more a "hidden" feature. So it should use a "hidden" account that isn't shown to the public on the login screen.
Solutions would be:
- Rename that Account from "Guest" to "Find my Mac"
- Don't display this account on the login screen and in the Account switcher - just show it in Preferences/User

Was it removed using the "Application Manager" tool, which supposedly does a clean remove ?
Try hooking your phone to a PC with USB as a mass storage device, and try to locate files (including icons) that may have been left on the card (possibly in a directory that was created by the application you removed).

How do I get rid of the 3D icon that is appearing on my screen?

There is another post about this but it isn't helpful.
There is an icon with a cube in it that is appearing in the upper left side of my screen. I can't find any way to turn it off. Every time I try to draw a square using the shape tool, it's in 3D. I don't want it to be in 3D, and I never turned this tool on in the first place. It's blocking my ability to get my work done. Can anyone help me figure it out?

Select the Perspective Grid Tool (Shift + P) and click on the X in the widget in the upper left. That will remove the Perspective Grid.

Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

Hi PKG,
the "GiveFeedback" and "SendTo" links are called "FlexUI" commands. Most of that stuff is highly configurable and naturally you can remove them in the KM Configuration at
SystemAdmin->SystemConfig->KM->CM->UserInterface
-> ... -> ResourceRnderer
Your ResourceRenderer uses a CommandGroup. In this CommandGroup you can add/remove commands.
For example un your case its the CommandGroup "NewsDisplayGroup"
