How to get rid of VIP mail box added version 6 ?

I just updated my iPod to 6.0, and there are two things I do not like about it:
First, it added a "VIP" mail box which I don't want. How do I get rid of it?
It also added a "passbook" app or something, which I don't want and don't need. I've religated it to the "not used much" folder, but I wish they wouldn't add it without asking me or at least let me take it off my device.
Shame on you Apple. For the first time since I've had my iPod I'm feeling messed with and I don't like it.
David

Try a reset: hold down the home button along with the power button until you see the Apple, then let go.

  • Wiki Server: how to get rid of the "mail" nav menu item

How do I get rid of the "mail" nav menu item at the top right of our Wiki? Our mail server isn't switched on so I wouldn't have expected it to show in the first place.

I solved my issue, and it can probably help with yours too. Sounds like you'll have to enable web archives in order to disable them for individual groups.

  • How to get rid of a mail account?

I had two .mac accounts and wanted to get rid of one and just use the other one. So I deleted everything in my Mail/Preferences so the only e-mail address is the one that I currentely would like to use.
    Now, when I look in:
    User/Library/Mail
Folder I find that the deleted account still has a folder. Better yet my iphone is still trying to sync with my current .mac and the old one. I even deleted all the contents of that mail folder and every time I restart Mail the unwanted account recreates its folder.
How do I get rid of this account permanately?
    Thanks.

    Under:
    System Preferences/.Mac
My account (the one that I want to keep) is the only one listed, there is no info whatsoever about the account I attempted to delete (which I assume should be a good thing). There is no remenence of the one that I deleted other than in that one Mail folder.

  • How  to get rid of reopen window box on shutdown

I want to have my Mac default to not opening windows previously opened and I want to get rid of the anoying default "reopen windows" box when I shut down. How do I do this?

A permanent replacement for the "Reopen windows when logging back in" checkbox is as follows:
    1. Close all apps you don't want to open at startup.
    2. Open your user Library folder. It is normally invisible, so press the Option key while selecting the "Go" menu in the Finder then select "Library" to open it.
    3. Use the Get Info dialog "Locked" checkbox to lock this plist:
    ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.loginwindow.*.plist
where "~" is your home folder and "*" is a sequence of characters (12 in my case). No need to lock the corresponding lockfile.
This plist is where the System stores "reopen windows" info, so the System can't change/delete it if it is locked. This won't change the "Reopen windows..." checkbox setting, but that setting will no longer have any effect.

  • How to get rid of google mail in "new calendar" menu?

    Hi there,
it's not a big problem, but it drives me crazy: month ago I tried google calendar and synced iCal with this. Since then, in my menu for creating new calendars I have two options: local and google mail. Because I don't want to use google calendar anymore, I want to get rid of it in the menu. I tried several things in Preferences and Calendars, but without success. Could anyone help me?
    Thanks
    Klaus

I got it by myself: one just have to delete the cache-files in the directory Calendars - that's it.

  • How to get rid of junk mail in POP account

    Dear all,
I have a POP account which on my iMac/Macbook Pro perfectly weeds out almost all junk/spam. On my iPhone 4 however there is no junk mailbox so all junk goes in my Inbox with a ratio of 60 junk : 1 real mail message. Anyone?
Really looking forward to some briljant tips!
    Cheers,
    Michiel

With an email account/address that is so severly compromised, you may want to consider a new email account and address preferably an IMAP account for a number of reasons.
A 60 junk to one real email message ratio means you have inadvertently contributed to the problem and the email account provider has no spam filter at the server. Rendering any HTML included with spam/junk confirms that your email address is "known good" with the spammer that sent the message causing more spam/junk to be received. Clicking on any links included with a spam/junk message does the same. Providing your email address publicly for any reason also does the same. Spammers sell/trade their "known good" email address lists to other low-life spammers causing an endless cycle. Once the cat is that far out of the bag with an email address, there is no turning back. The iPhone's Mail app does not have a junk mail filter and may never have one, which wouldn't match the junk mail filter with the Mail app on your Mac anyway.
Get a new email address from an email account provider that supports IMAP access. Use the new email address to exchange email with family and friends ONLY. Use your existing severely compromised email address for online purchases and to be provided publicly. Never provide your new email address publicly for any reason. An IMAP account is specifically designed to be accessed with more than one email client with all server stored mailboxes kept synchronized with the server with each email client used to access the account. A POP account is from the early dark ages of email account access with an email client when most people had access to a single computer only and well before there were handheld cell phones and especially smart phones. A POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only.

  • How to get rid of black outline boxes persisting on screen

Black outline boxes have started appearing around objects and icons that I’ve clicked on or text areas I've filled in. Sometimes these boxes persist on the screen in its original location until I go to a new program.
For example – in PhotoShop, a black outline box appeared on the vertical slider area and then stayed in the same location on the screen until I switched to Safari – which then got it’s own boxes.
    I have a clear 20” Cinema Display.

Open the Universal Access pane of System Preferences and check if VoiceOver is turned on; if so, turn it off.

  • How do I get rid of the little box to the left of each bookmark in the bookmark toolbar?

On my bookmarks toolbar, there is a little box to the left of each bookmark. The box causes the bookmarks to take up too much space, thus limiting the number of bookmarks I can get on the bar without using dropdowns. I don't like the little boxes, I don't want the little boxes. Please tell me how to get rid of the little boxes.

Those are icons, but you would still need to leave some space between the text labels.
This is code I found here:

  • Evaluation dialog box - how to get rid of it

    Hi,
Is there a way how to get rid of following dialog box when it appears?
Please note user is not allowed to click on any button. I need to do this purely by program. Ideally some registry entry.
    Thank you, Michal.

    Hi Roberto,
Yes! I noticed "Do not show this dialogue again" checkbox but I cannot use it due to several reasons. Let me explain.
I am using LabWindows/CVI ActiveX Controller to control the project creation/building process. This is running on different machines where I cannot really rely on whether this checkox was hit by anyone before or not. So this was a critical requirement to handle any such event without user intervention. Here starts the story where I was looking into automatic solution for how to handle this.
About your second question, the last one should be correct. The CEAL would have to be down for whole my evaulation period in order that CVI would stop working. But when CEAL is available again this 30-day evaluation period should be restarted and with another CEAL outage this window shown again. This is where I am like 90% certain. So please don't take this as an absolute truth if not confirmed by any NI staff.
Anyways as I said before I am not into this solution anymore but if anyone would have any idea how to simply handle this without any user intervention I would store this into my knowledge database . I already mentioned Windows function above which should work. Also there is a freeware SW called AutoIt which basically does the same.
    Thank you, Michal.

  • MAIL: How do I get rid of *VIP mailbox? I really need this gone. Thanks.

MAIL: How do I get rid of *VIP mailbox? I really need this gone. Thanks.

Tried this - I think I'm doing it right - and not working. All incoming and outgoing emails appear in the VIPs and also in another unnamed stared folder in that box. I cannot delet either mailbox. I can delete mail within the boxes by choosing and deleting , often I have to do it 3 or 4 times before they decide to actually go away. Clicking on the star just highlights the message and then I delete, but new message from same recipient still shows up again. When the VIPs box and the folder in it are completely empty they are still there. Am I doing something wrong?

  • When I try to buy something, I get an Apple-ID which is not the one I want to use, and I don't know how to get rid of it either, so that I can use my ID, which is in Mail, Contacts etc. The ID I get, I can't find, so that I can delete it. What to do?

When I try to buy something, I get an Apple-ID which is not the one I want to use, and I don't know how to get rid of it either, so that I can replace it with my ID in Mail, contacts etc. The ID I get without wanting it, I can't find anywhere. I have to delete it. How do I solve this problem, anyone?

My content was obtained through another ID, which popped up earlier. Now this one doesn't pop up, and my current ID doesn't pop up either, but another one. How do you find an ID which is not in the store, and not in Mail, contacts etc. either?
Or is it possible to write the ID yourself when you want to buy something, not only to have it popped up being unable to be changed?

  • How to get rid of automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail?

I have recently setup an OS X 10.6.2 Server for our small office. I got the domain name wrong in the initial install and fixed this by doing a complete clean reinstall of OS X 10.6 server (then upgrade to 10.6.2).
The problem is that one of the OS X 10.6.2 clients had been setup to talk to the server prior to the rebuild. Now on this client, I cannot work out how to get rid of or change the automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail - everytime you login, these are recreated using the old domain name (and of course don't work).
In Mail if you remove the server account (from Accounts in Preferences), it just pops back again. I even removed every trace of the old domain name from the apple.com.mail.plist file but when I re-open Mail that darned server account (with the old domain name) just pops up again.
In iCal its slightly different in that you can remove the account and it stays away while you have iCal open. But as soon as you close and re-open it, that server account just pops up again!
I thought it might be something to do with Kerberos and found a Kerberos file on the client which had the old domain name throughout it - I changed all these references to the new domain name, but still the same behaviour in Mail and iCal.
This is doing my head in. Any ideas?

  • How to get rid of automatically created Mail and iCal accounts on client?

I have recently setup an OS X 10.6 Server for our small office. I got the domain name wrong in the initial install and fixed this by doing a complete clean reinstall of OS X 10.6 server (now upgraded to 10.6.4).
The problem is that one of the OS X 10.6.4 clients had been setup to talk to the server prior to the rebuild. Now on this client, I cannot work out how to get rid of or change the automatically created server accounts in iCal and Mail - everytime you login, these are recreated using the old domain name (and of course don't work).

I have the same problem. Every time that I open iCal on the client a new account is created and an error message shown that I cannot login. I can delete the wrong account in the iCal preferences. However, as soon as I restart, the account and the error message are back.
How do I "unbind" and "rebind" a client? I searched the "Mac OS X Server
Open Directory Administration Version 10.6 Snow Leopard" but the only reference to "binding" seems to be in the context of Active Directory which I don't have.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
