How to get rid of Windows files under Parallels

After loading and running Windows XP via Parallels, I've decided the virus risk is not worth it for me. My question is how do I get rid of all the Windows files? I've uninstalled Parallels using the Parallels uninstall function on the Parallels disk. Is that it or are there Windows XP files somewhere on my hard drive?
Thanks

Hi Jason!
I believe that should be all you need to do but a better place to ask would be the Parallels forums. Have a look here <http://forums.parallels.com/>.
Hope this helps! bill

    My iphone4 downloaded ios6 two days ago, as far as I know without my intervention (I may have accidentally given order for that...). I've noticed an icon badge with '1' on settings and with surprise I found ios6 had been downloaded and was ready to install!!! I don't want in any way to install by now, but the problem is the huge space occupied by the file - more than 2 GB. So I'd like to know how to get rid of the file. I didn't find anything about...

  • How to get rid of duplicate files in Windows Media Player 11, I am seeking an answer if at all possible.

    I don't know if this is the appropriate forum to ask this question....if it is not please guide me to the correct support forum. I am just trying to find out if there is an easier way of getting rid of duplicate files in my Windows Media Player 11.
    Also how do I prevent my Media player from obtaining all these duplicate files from other libraries.  I have iTunes installed and my home network has four other computers belonging in the home group that have all their own respective music libraries.
    I guess I was naïve but I thought that when Windows Media Player is out searching other libraries it would know not to take duplicates of songs that it has already.  Enough said .....if anyone out there can help me that would be great.  I have in
    the past spent many hours manually deleting songs from my music files and it really got old.

  • How to get rid of locked file

    I have a file that's locked that I kept in a folder titled junk because five years ago I couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. Just installed a new HD and tried to trash the folder and file. It's not working and now it's in two places because when I moved it it asked for name and password, then copied it into the trash and left it on the desktop. I know there must be a way to get rid of it. Secure Trash in Onyx didn't work. the file is nununu HFS+private data?
    Any suggestions?

    *Trash Problems*
    If trash can't delete because an item is busy, try restarting the computer.
    If trash won't delete because an item is locked, try holding down the option key when emptying the trash.
    Try booting to Safe Mode (hold down the shift key while booting, restart may take a long time but let it go), sometimes just doing that works. Restart normally.

  • How to get rid of large files generated by Final Cut X ?

    My hard drives are getting increasingly full and I think its Final Cut render files or something similar.
    How do I get rid of the files Final Cut creates for old projects without hurting those projects (in case I want to resurrect them) ?
    Are the rider files stored within the huge library file, or in a certain location?
    I have my settings as "in library" for Media and Cache.
    (If I cmd-click (or right click) the library, show contents it does show a folder with a date, in my case 2-24-15, then a subfolder called Render Files.   Can I just trash all of these within the library?)

    Select  library and go to "File->Delete Library Generated Files" (or similarly select just an event or project, the wording of the menu will change accordingly).
    You can then elect to delete render files (all or just the unused ones), proxy media and optimized media.
    None of this will prevent you from working on your projects. Probably you don't need them anyway, and if you do you can always regenerate them later.
    (It seems that many people check to create proxy and optimized media on import - this is usually unnecessary and especially optimized media can take a LOT of disk space, often ten times as much as the original)

    i need help! does anyone know how to get rid of popunder ads! doesn't matter how...i just want them gone!

    The simple answer is to avoid the sort of trashy website that serves such ads. The complicated answer is to disable JavaScript when visiting those sites, or to install ad-blocking software such as GlimmerBlocker.

    Your index rebuild attempt obviously hit a bug. There is a similar bug for older versions of Oracle when attempting to (re-)build an unique index online and the recursive sql generated for checking the uniqueness is malformed.
    Which version of Oracle is this database?
    Manually manipulating the remaining objects is dangerous and can lead to ORA-600 errors when accessing the base object. If you run into this ORA-600 errors you need to bounce the database instance, that should fix the issue.
    The remaining objects are supposed to be cleaned up by the SMON background process but it can take him a long time in busy systems(up to two days says Oracle). As long as there are ongoing transactions on the object the clean up procedure might not be able to complete and will attempt to re-try depending on Oracle version.
    In more recent releases of Oracle (at least 10.2.0.1 and later) there should be a DBMS_REPAIR package that offers a function ONLINE_INDEX_CLEAN that manually invokes the cleanup procedure that SMON should be doing anyway, but it still may not be able to do the clean up due to concurrent DML activities.
    If DBMS_REPAIR is not available in your database you can check for the installation script in the following location, but in older releases it does not contain the ONLINE_INDEX_CLEAN function. I'm not sure if this is available as backport to previous releases resp. as one-off patch:
    {ORACLE_HOME}/rdbms/admin/dbmsrpr.sql

    When I was trying to compile a source file, I got a file marked with # symbol. It appears in terminal like this: #hello.cpp#
    How does this mean? How do I get rid of it?

    I do not know what it is. But if you really want to delete it, then close the name in quotes so it does not look like a comment:
    rm '#hello.cpp#'

  • How to get rid of "._" files when trans to cell phone?

    I use a microSD to play mp3s on my LG chocolate (I know... i'll get an iPhone one day!).
    The only problem is, if I drag-and-drop 30 songs to the card, when I use it on the phone, I now have 60 items, with 30 of them being duplicate titles with "._"
    in front of the title and no way to delete them. These files do not play, of course. I am thinking they are not really "there."
    I tried loading TinkerTool and showing invisible files on the card,but there was only 1, a DS store(?)file that I deleted. Didn't help. Is there any way to take care of those pesky pseudo-duplicates?

    Hi Charles,
    Do you have an external card reader that accepts microSD media? It might be possible to delete the files this way. They are dirt cheap nowadays - SanDisk makes a 12-in-1 card reader for about $30.
    Just curious - the Chocolate doesn't offer a "Delete" function in its media reader? (I have Verizon myself as well, but that phone never interested me...)
    The "._" files are the resource forks that OS X uses to store additional data, as in a custom icon, for example.
    It's part of how OS X manages files - files have data forks (the actual file) and resource forks (additional data). Assuming that the file has an applicable Windows application to read the file, PCs (in your case, the Chocolate) read the data fork just fine.
    (for example, a Word .doc file created on a Mac will typically open fine on a PC)
    However, Windows currently has no way to translate a resource fork, and thus will report it as a dummy "._filename" with no application to open it.

  • How to get a list of files under C:\Program Files?

    dir C:\"Program Files" in DOS will get me a list of files in the directory. But how could I do in Java to get the some results? To put it in two double quotes, does not work.
    Any suggestions?

    Here is a small Java program that will read the contents of any directory for you:
    readDir.java
    ==========
    import java.io.*;
    public class readDir {
       public static void main(String[] args) {
          try {
             String[] dirArray=new File(args[0]).list();
             for (int i=0;i<dirArray.length;i++) System.out.println(dirArray[ i ]);
          } catch (Throwable exception) {
             exception.printStackTrace();
    }Just compile the program and run it as follows:
    java readDir "C:\Program Files"
    ;o)

  • How to get rid of "._" files ?

    We are using Mac OS X 10.5 computers for the most part.
    When we transfer files to other volumes such as FAT removable devices or SMB shares we get "._" files.
    These files keep the resource fork for Mac users but are sometimes annoying for other users.
    I read that the following command could disable the creation of these files :
    export COPYEXTENDED_ATTRIBUTESDISABLE=true
    I tried it on a 10.5.7 MacBook but I don't see any change. When I copy files I still get for each file a "._" related file.
    Any ideas ?

    They best way I have found so far is to use a file copy program that bypasses the finder. I already owned synchronize plus, which worked. I did bit of digging and you can write a quick Automator workflow to copy files from one place to another and it seems like the ._ files are left behind because the files now work in my digital picture frame. The script I use is:
    1. Ask for finder items
    2. Copy finder items
    If you have not used Automator before, it is not too bad to work with. Simply start it up and you will be asked what kind of task you want. I chose the "files and folders" and then where it displays the content pull-downs I chose my mac and the "As for files and folders when my workflow runs." This will enter your first component. Check the box that says "Allow multiple selections". Now click ACTIONS at the top and go to Files and Folders and choose "Copy Finder Items". Drag this under the "Ask for Finder Items." Choose Options and select the "Show this action" which should allow you to choose the destination when run. Save the script as an application, double click to run the application.
    I hope this is what you were trying to get done. I was trying to get photos on to a card and make it simple enough for my parents to do this. Those darn ._ files caused the photoframe to crash, so I needed to do something.
    From the file menu choose save as, and select application. Give it a useful name.

  • How to get rid of kernel extension under maverick

    Hello,
    this kernel extension (com.globaldelight.driver.BoomDevice          (1.1 - SDK 10.5)) seems to be causing kernel panic and shuts down my computer randomly. Could you please explain how to unsintall it
    Thank you in advance

    Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
    Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
    I never install system modifications myself, and (unless otherwise specified in this comment) I don't know how to uninstall them. You'll have to do your own research to find that information.
    Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
    Back up all data before making any changes.
    You will generally have to reboot in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, the uninstallation may have no effect, or unpredictable effects.
    If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
    WARNING: Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software.

  • How to get rid of unused files from robohelp 7

    How do I delete should I do about the unsued files?
    Robohelp 'help' on  the unused file report help'  is an  outrageously bad joke:
    Unused files report
    You cannot remove these files from within your project. Use Windows Explorer  to delete the files.
    Note: Avoid using Windows Explorer or your  version-control application to remove files.
    Peter

    The files are not shown in project manager because they are not part of the project. They are still within the project's folders though.
    If you are not using version control, then you do just delete them using Windows Explorer.
    I believe the incorrect information has been corrected in later versions of RH.
