How to get Shuttle return value?

Hi All.
I'm using APEX 4.0. Now I use shuttle item named P2_SCHOOL_INFO, and its list of value is like:
"Select school_name as display_name ,school_id as return_value from school_info"
when clicking save button I want to get the return_value in the process.
I thought I could use it like a collection, so I tried to use it like for i in : P2_SCHOOL_INFO.FIRST..:P2_SCHOOL_INFO.LAST. But it failed.
How can I get the return value?

Hi,
What kind of web page do you have? Do you have possibility to for example make RFCs? Then you could trigger events (with parameters that could "return" the values) and the workflow could react to those events. For example your task can have terminating events.

How to get the return value of a LOV item using javascript

Hello,
I am trying to put an onchange attribute in the HTML Form Element Attributes field of a LOV item. The javascript should access the new return value of the item. How is this done ? All the methods I have tried give only the display value, not the return value. For example $v() returns the display value.

If your item is called P1_ITEM this will give you the return value of a popup (displays description,returns key value)

You declare the return type of the method, and then use the return keyword to return a value which you can assign to a variable.
As the other respondent said, you cannot return more than one value from a function. If you need to return two related values, you may want to enclose them in a class and return an instance of that class. For instance:
class TimeValue {
   final int x;
   final int y;
public TimeValue(int x, int y) {
   this.x = x;
   this.y = y;
}Then your method could create a new TimeValues and return it:
public TimeValue time(int x,int y){
   int xx = x;
   int yy = y;
   ++xx;
   ++yy;
   return new TimeValue(xx, yy);

How to get the returned value from Functions with Callable statement?

I was glad to find that stored procedures can be invoke with Java class code by the object of Callable statement like :
String stmt = "BEGIN departments_pkg.do_select(?,?,?); END;";
and getting the output variables by
populateAttribute(DEPARTMENTNAME,st.getString(2),true,false);
But i would like to get values returned from FUNCTION other than stored procedure, how can i achieve it? Thanks a lot!

How to get 2 return values from a single SelectInputText?

Hi,
I am using the std Search form,
The table I am using has fields like ID,Name,Status, and a few more
I use a SelectInputText(pop up the ID and Name list) and populate the result back on the Search page
What I am looking for is to have another output-text box on the search page which will show the Name corresponding the above selected ID.
Can I have more than 1 returnActionListener for the SelectInputText to return more than one value??
OR should I use something else?

But Frank, the SelectInputText automatically displays the returnEvent.getReturnValue() and I can't do anything about it. My ReturnListener method parses values from the hash table and assigns them to multiple fields on the screen. But the SelectInputText overwrites the value that I assign and displays the entire hashmap as the value of that field. The actual value displayed in the SelectInputText item ends up looking like this:
{KEY1=Key1Value, KEY2=Key2Value}
My ReturnListener method assigns the value Key2Value to field #2 (which is an InputText, not a SelectInputText) and it displays correctly.
My ReturnListener method assigns the value Key1Value to field #1 (which is the SelectInputText that launched the dialog) but instead of displaying Key1Value in the field, the page displays the entire hashmap in that field.
How can I force the SelectInputText to display "Key1Value" instead of "{KEY1=Key1Value, KEY2=Key2Value}"?

How to get multiple return value

I have a method to get some values and put them in 3 arrays which include both one and two dimension arrays. I used String [ ] and String [ ]. The problem is how could I get the values in both String [ ] and String [ ] from outside the method`?

Seems I am on the wrong way. What I am doing is like this example of a picture (arrays used are either String[ ] or String [ ][ ] in following):
A array Box_array[ ] stores all the names of boxes. Box A (called Source Box) points to Box B (Destination Box) by a directed line called AB. The joints are called Aab on Box A and Bab on Box B respectively. Similarly, Box A may point to another Box C. Box B also may point to Box D. So I use arrary Src_arrary[ k ] to store the name of one Souce Boxe,and Dst_arrary [k ][ ] to store the corresponding Destination Boxes. E.g.,
Src_array[0] = "A";
Src_array[1] = "B";
Dst_array[0][0] = "B";
Dst_array[0][1] = "C";
Dst_array[1][0] = "D";
In the same way,
Line_array[0][0] ="AB"; Point_Src[0][0] = "Aab"; Point_Dst[0][0]= "Bab";
Line_array[0][1] ="AC"; Point_Src[0][1] = "Aac"; Point_Dst[0][1]= "Cac";
Line_array[1][0] ="BD"; Point_Src[1][0] = "Bbd"; Point_Dst[1][0]= "Dbd";
Line_array[k][ ] stores direted lines which start from the Box indicated by Src_array[k]. Point_Src[k][ ] stores all joint points on the source box (Src_array[k]) and Point_Dst[k][ ] is for joint points on the destination box (Dst_array[k]).
Now you may understand why I use a two dimension array: because I want to find the right lines and points for a given source box, by using the idex k in the above example.
Until now, I could represent the picture (Not to draw the picture) like this:
Directed lines Line_array[k][0] and Line_array[k][1] start from Point_Src[k][0] and Point_Src[k][1] respectively. Both points are on box Src_array[k], and these two lines point to Point_Dst[k][0] on box Dst_array[k][0] and Point_Dst[k][1] and Dst_array[k][1] respectively.
Then I need to get these values or names stored in these arrays from outside of this method. That is my problem. Maybe it is a wrong way, but as a newbie, I didn't find out other solutions.

How to call an Oracle Procedure and get a return value in Php

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone tried calling an Oracle procedure from Php using the ora functions and getting the return value ? I need to use the ora funtions (no oci)because of compatibility and oracle 7.x as the database.
The reason why I post this here is because the ora_exec funtion is returning FALSE but the error code displayes is good. Is this a bug in the ora_exec funtion ?

The Oracle procedure has a select count from a table and it returns the number of records in that table. It's defined as:

Nothing much there. I want to do an insert into a table,
from the procedure later, but I figured that I start with a select count since it's simpler.
When I ran the Php code, I get the following:

Error = ORA-00000: normal, successful completion -- while

I listed the messages on separate lines for clarity. I don't understand why it parses and binds o.k. but the exec returns false.

retcode=`echo $?`is a bit convoluted. Just use:
retcode=$?I see no EOF line terminating your input. Your flavour of Unix might not like that - it might ignore the command, though I'd be surprised (AIX doesn't).
replace the EXEC line with :
select 'hello' from dual;
and see if you get some output - then you know if sqlplus commands are being called from your script. You didn't mentioned whether you see the banner for sqlplus. Copy/paste the output that you get, it will give us much more of an idea.

How to trap null return values from getters when using Method.invoke()?

Hi,
I am using Method.invoke() to access getters in an Object. I need to know which getters return a value and which return null. However, irrespective of the actual return value, I am always getting non-null return value when using Method.invoke().
Unfortunately, the API documentation of Method.invoke() does not specify how it treats null return values.
Can someone help?

What do you get as a result?I think I know what the problem is.
I tested this using following and it worked fine:
public class TestMethodInvoke {
public String getName() {
return null;
public static void main(String args[]) throws SecurityException, NoSuchMethodException, IllegalArgumentException, IllegalAccessException, InvocationTargetException {

Class cls = o.getClass();

However, when I use the same technique with an EJB 3.0 Entity class, the null return value is not returned. Instead, I get a String() object. Clearly, the problem is the the EJB 3.0 implementation (Glassfish/Toplink) which is manipulating the getters.

How to get the node value of payload

Hi
The null is returned when I use the following code to get the User_ID element in the payload, but there are values in the User_ID element of the payload
Task task_test = wfSvcClient.getTaskQueryService().getTaskDetailsById(wfCtx, taskId);
System.out.println("the payload value is " + task_test.getPayloadAsElement().getElementsByTagName("User_ID").item(0).getNodeValue());
How to get the node value of payload ? any suggestion?

Hi Jayson,
Try:
System.out.println("the payload value is " + task_test.getPayloadAsElement().getElementsByTagName("User_ID").item(0).getFirstChild().getNodeValue());
So add the getFirstChild() call in between.
If this works, maybe consider using JAXB to marshall the payload details to POJO's. This will make reading the payload details much easier.

Select_list_from_lov, cant get the returning value

I try to use a apex_item.select_list_from_lov in a wizard. The LOV that I have is a dynamic list.
everything works fine, only I cant get the return value of the selected items.
multi select list

trying to see what the return values are, but got nothing.

JList and ListSelectionEvent : How to get the deselected Value

Hi,
All of you know:
The ListSelectionEvent occurs two times:
1.) An Enty is deselected
2.) The new Entry is selected.
I wanted to use the first occurence to save some data from the deselected Entry (from an Editor to a Record), and the second occurence to load the Data from the selected Entry to an Editor.
(Until now, i use a additional lastSelectedIndex Property for that, but i dont find this very elegant.)
Now i found that the index is allways the same. The output of the code is:
Event 0 Index:2
Event 1 Index:2
Has anybody an idea how to get the deselected Value ??

Now i select a other item in the List, say Index: 2.
The ListSelection-Event occurs two times:
My understand was:
The first occures, because an Item was deselected: index should be:5
The second occures, because an Item was selected : index should be:2
Is my thinking wrong?
The code above allways gets only Index 2.
How can i get the Index/Value 5,

i am working in Oracle APEX. Can anyone tell me how to get the checkbox value Thru Pl/sql Procedure.
Ex:
if i have three users like 1) super admin 2) HR 3) user i am giving different grants to all. there s a check box i used if HR selected three grants i have to get the checked value from my procedure and put into a table in a single column.
grants :
1)user creation
2)salary details
3)Attendance details
4)Allowance
5)contacts
if its checked i am returning 1 not checked i hav to return 0
in my table i ahv to store 10111 like that......
