How to get songs on iPhone?

I have a ipod touch with 700 songs on it, they are not on my computer because i got a new mac. i want to get these songs to my iphone but i think it has to get on the mac first?
How do i get it on my comp/itunes?

If they aren't on your computer what you need to do is download a program called Pod to Mac (it's free), and you'll plug in your iPod to your computer to transfer your music to your computer, then you can put it in iTunes and sync it to your phone.
And if anyone with a PC is also having this issue I believe there is a Pod to PC version of the program too.

If you just want to be able to sync your devices to the same PC without having them get overwritten all the times, here is a free method

Basically, you put the same itunes database file on all the PCs. This fakes itunes into thinking it is always the same PC and the ipod is OK to sync with it. It will NOT keep your libraries truly synced, though. I've just resigned myself to always buying from one PC and manually transferring the content to other PCs I want it on.

So how do I create a separate I tunes on a PC which already has itunes... Or if not can I plug my iPad to the PC and use itunes on my iPad, and drag mp3s from a computer.
I'm not sure what the equivalent of a desktop is on the iPad.. And I don't actually know how to use the icloud either...

I do have spotify soundcloud so I could potentially use these.. If there is a route of getting either mp3's etc to end up on my iPad or iPod.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
To import music into your iTunes library on the computer go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Add items to iTunes and follow the instructions
To sync to your iPod go to iTunes>Help>iTunes Help>Sync your iPod....>Sync You Device and follow the instructions.

I still have an old 3G which I use mostly as a ipod/radio. By accident I found you can overide the i-tunes block.
1. Select Apps in Apps store icon on the phone.
2. Choose App to download
3. At "Instal" button press it QUICKLY in blocks of 3 presses, keep doing this until it overides the i-tune warning, then if there were legacy versions for os 4.2.1 it says something like "this app is for os 5 or above", but gives you a choice to download an older version. Select this.
Sometimes it says the Apps is for newer hardware, requiring motion sensors, front camera's etc.. just got to accept these ones don't work on legacy hardware.
4. Download does not work for all Apps, esp. newer ones written after os 4.21 or if the developer doesn't have the vintage apps archived- e.g. Instagram downloads, but won't run (wants to update), or WSJ and Barrons stalls and goes through a download loop.
I am not making this up, as I bought this old 3g unit on e-bay, after a complete factory reset I now have:
- Tune-in, FB, Pandora,Skype, Twitter, Bloomberg, MSNBC, Forbes, Marketwatch, Viber, amongst a host of other news apps like LATimes.
Some Apps will download ok, and then at activation says its too old and no longer supported e.g Whats App.
Otherwise, good luck. Tune-in, Pandora, Skype and Twitter is all I need to keep me happy with an old unit, even though I've got newer hardware. Never let anything die unnaturally.

Let me ask again. The step which you mentioned - "Did you check Settings > Sounds > Ringtone > at the top of the list is your custom ringtones."
There I dont see option for custom ringtones. Instead it says -"Buy More Itomes"

Alright, my old PC completely crashed, with my iTunes and everything on it. I've got my iPod mini now (with my Mac) but the problem is I have no clue how to get all my songs from my iPod onto my computer. I don't want to have to load all of the songs from my CDs and rebuy them from Apple again... and I don't know if I'll be able to access my old PC again. Updating your iPod's software, whether a major update or not, will re-sync the music to it from the computer after the software is finished installing.

Unless the music is bought from iTunes, then you won't be able to transfer it without third-party software.
You won't be able to transfer music that wasn't purchased from the iTunes Store using an iPod Touch because the Ipod Touch (First-Generation anyway, as far as I know) doesn't allow disk use.
I do not know of any third party software that is completely free and provides this ability through its demo.
