How to get to the bottom of iphone photo library more quickly?

I have about 8000 pics in here and most are in albums so I can find them reasonably easily. Some that haven't been put in an album and are located halfway down or more take FOREVER to scroll and find. Is there some way to jump further down the album like 1/4, 1/2 or some increment to reduce the scrolling?

I'll use this shameless bump to also ask if there is a way to change the sort order of pics in the Photo Library... it starts with oldest pics first and you have to scroll down over and over to get to the newer pics. My guess would be that most people tend to look at their newer pictures more frequently, but maybe that's just me. It's fine if the pics you want are in the last imported album because that's easy to find. But, once they aren't the last import anymore, they're WAY DOWN at the bottom of the album. I don't see anyway to change this sort order or make the Library default to showing newest first when selected... either within the application or Settings. Any info on if/how this would be done?

    thank you!  I am admiring my three dots and considering which cat's picture I should upload as my avatar.
    yes, the scrolling down in sections I have managed.  I thought you were saying one set of double taps would go straight to the bottom.
    here's another question for you:  on my iMac by holding the command key down I can make a link open in a new tab.  Do you know if there is a way to do that on the iPad?

  • Hi, I have a brand new imac which i got today and when I open Iphoto all i get is the error message "Your photo library is either in use by another application or has become unreadable" any ideas? thanks

    Are there photos in the Library? If not then just trash it and launch iphoto. It will make a new one.
    If there are pics in it then Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
    Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • How do i delete pictures from my iPhone Photo Library

    The only discussions I found said I needed to delete them from my computer then sync the iPhone, but I want to keep the copies on my computer but get them off my phone. When I delete them from my phone then sync they seem to get put back on my iPhone.

    Right, it is not intuitive. That is because you don't delete them from your iPhone. You have to tell iTunes to stop syncing them. This is NOT the same as deleting them from your computer, you don't have to touch the photos in iPhoto.
    So again, plug your phone into iTunes. Click on it when it shows up in the side bar. When you look at you phone in iTunes you should see a whole bunch of tabs at the top for the different things you can sync, (Music, Info, Movies, TV) one of those tabs it photos. In this tab you can tell iTunes which photos to sync and which ones not to. Telling iTunes not to sync a photo will remove it from you phone but will not touch your iPhoto library.

  • How do I determine the size of my photo library

    I want to know the size of my photo file so that I can determine how much space I need to store them in iCloud (iPhoto version 9.6)  Os Version 10.10.2
    Thanks
    Dan

    Depends on what you mean and... you can't store an iPhoto Library in the Cloud.
    If you use the size determination in the iPhoto Window, that reports the approximate size if you export everything at the 'Current Setting' (which you would not want to do. See below*)
    If you check the size of the package in the Finder (Pictures / iPhoto Library) that reports the disk space used for the combined size of the Masters, Previews, Thumbnails, Caches, Database and metadata files.
    Though, as I say, it's not really an issue as you can't put an iPhoto Library in the Cloud.

  • When i bought my new iMac recently i transferred all my photos from pc to iPhotos  then i recd an update that gave me Photos  how do i combine the two into one photo library and which should i choose?

    When i recently bought my new iMac, i transferred my photos from the old pc.  then i recd an update which introduced the Photos...so now i have two photo repositories and i only want one.  how do i get them together and how can i easily find duplicates to delete?  and which library should i choose.

    When you launch Photos for the first time it will import all of your photos from iPhoto. iPhoto is going away eventually and Photos is the replacement. For the time being both apps will remain on your system but you should start using Photos exclusively for the future.

  • How do I get to the bottom of a dialogue box that isn't visible? Critical Mail problem!

    I tried sending an email to a long list of recipients in a group. For some reason, I got a werid dialogue box about how it my SMTP server didn't recognize some addresses (though they all seem fine). No big deal, normally I would just edit the message and fix/delete the offending email addresses. However, the bottom of the warning dialogue is off screen and I can't scroll down. All I can do is hit "enter" and try to resend. But then I get a repeat.
    The message in question is not seen in either my Outgoing, Sent, or Drafts folders. At least not when the dialogue box is open. So I can't just kill the message.
    I also can't quit Mail while this message is up. I can go to the Finder and force quit. But then if I restart Mail the dialogue box pops right back up and I'm stuck where I was before.
    Basically, I just need to know how to get to the bottom of the warning dialogue box so that I can click on the "edit message" button.
    Help?!
    Oh, I'm running the most updated version of OS X Lion.

    I did that twice. Once, about an hour ago. And nothing changed. I did it again about twenty minutes ago, and still nothing. A few minutes ago I tried yet another force quit. And .... that seemed to do the trick. The offending email message is gone.
    So my problem seems to be solved.
    But the larger issue remains of a major bug in Mac OS, it seems. If a dialogue box is larger than the screen size, how is someone ever going to be able to deal with closing it or anything else? It would make sense to automatically allow the cursor to scroll down to the very bottom of any dialogue box, regardless of its size. After all, that's how windows work, right?
    Crazy!

  • When I'm on microsoft word and typing and get to the  bottom of the page a new page doesn't just come up, i have to manually put it there so then when i go back and add stuff to the first page i loose whatever was at the bottom. how do i stop this?

    When I'm on microsoft word on my macbook air and get to the bottom a the page, a new page does not come up. i have to manually insert one. so then when i go back to edit my work and add something in what ever was at the bottom of the page disappears. how can i stop this from happening or change it so a new page opens by itself?

    It sounds like you have chosen a publishing template rather than a word processing template. There are two basic modes in MS Word: word processing and publishing layout. Word processing mode (and all word processing templates) have a continuous text box in the page for writing text. The publishing layout mode (and publishing templates) are documents that have text boxes placed for articles, titles, pictures, etc. Be sure to choose the word document template and you’ll get what you expect. Do not choose the word publishing document.

    I update my IPhone4 to IOS6 from IOS4.3.3. My all songs are missing in the Iphone4. How to get those songs into my Iphone from ITunes. Even after sync also not coming to IPhone.

    The iphone is not  storage/backup device.
    The sync is one way - computer to iphone.
    The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
    You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • I just bought an ipad. How do I get all the apps, music and photos from my iphone to my ipad?

    I just purchased an iPad 2. I currently have an iPhone 4 (not 4s). I was told that I could get all the apps, music and photos from my iphone onto my ipad. I tried backing up my phone and restoring my ipad from my phone. Didn't work. It setup successfully but nothing transfered over. iCloud only gave me my contacts and calendar. HELP!

  • I am trying to shut down my computer after disconnecting my modem because I haven't been able to get an email out.  But when I shut it off a screen comes up saying the server doesn't recognize the 500 names.  I can't get to the bottom of the screan

    My computer will not shut down after trying to send an email.  A screan came up saying the server doesnt recognize the emails.  And I can't scroll down to the bottom of the page to see if there is something to cancel or click on.  How do I get to the bottom of the page?

    You may have to just force quit the app in question.  Why on earth would you try and email 500 people all at once?  Email servers specifically won't accept emails with that many recipients depending on email service you have.
    Anyway, to force quit the app, just right-click on the app icon and choose force quit off the menu.
