How to get video dimensions?

I'm using a ParallelElement with multiple videos. How can I get each videos dimensions? There is no width/height attribute for a VideoElement and I had no luck using the metaData either. Seems like such a basic task but I've been trying for hours now.

I guess correct video size is available only after metadata arrives (after playback start). To get video size try to acquire DisplayObjectTrait of VideoElement and look into mediaWidth/mediaHeight values.
You may want to listen to DisplayObjectEvent.MEDIA_SIZE_CHANGE events from that display object trait - it fires when video metadata arrives.

  • I still don't understand how to get video on my iPhone-HELP!

    I have an iPhone and a iPod Classic and I just can't figure out how to get video on my either device, nothing I do works. I'm not talking about buying movies, etc from iTunes, I'm referring to videos I already have on my computer, converting them to the appropriate file extension (which I still have no idea what that is) and then where do I put these videos on my computer in order for iTunes to recognize them and pull them in?
    I wish these devices were simplier to work with, where they acted as hard drives and you could just drag and drop what you wanted where and play them. But of course it has to be more complicated then this because Apple wants to control the users experience (sound familiar?)...I'm an advanced computer user and I have to admit that I'm embarrassed by the fact that I can't figure this out.
    If anyone can give me SIMPLE instructions and a program to use to do video converstions I would appreciate it.
    Thanks.

    Im not going to be a great help as im on OS X, bit Ill have a go:
    For a number of reasons, iTunes and the iPod/iPhone only support a handful of types of video file. Mainly a file type called .mp4 which is normally h.264 with embeded metadata. This isnt a special Apple video file, and as long as it doesnt have DRM, can be played on many modern devices such as the Xbox360, PSP, PS3 etc.
    The only limiting thing you have to watch out for is the resolution of the video as some devices will not be able to play the higher resolution content such as a 1080p HDTV stream on an iPhone, it just wont play!
    So what you need to do, if you have videos in many different file types such as realplayer, wmv, and avi etc, you need top convert them to mp4, and then optionally add cover art and tag the file with show name etc.
    None of this is built in, partly because Apple wants you to buy content rather than get it elsewhere, and partly as itts a little more complicated than making an mp3 at the moment.
    On my Mac I use a program called Handbrake (free) that can rip from DVD to an iphone version, and a program called VisualHub that can convert just about any video type to iphone format. After encoding the video, i use a program called MetaX to correctly tag the video fiels so that they are easy to find in iTunes and so that I can make smart playlists etc. Do this and the files in iTunes act just like if you had purchased them from the store.
    Now, I dont know whats good for Windows, but I did a google search and found this which is free and for Windows:
    http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/
    For tagging, this may be ok:

    Also, I just found this guide which goes into more detail if you want it:

    Photos/videos in the Camera Roll can be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
    If you use iPhoto for this with any other digital camera, you can use iPhoto for this. Or you can use the Image Capture application for the import if you don't use iPhoto.

  • Itunes 8 how to get video out of there to Zen mozaics

    How to convert video to Creative Zen compatible
    You have a portable video/audio player, lets say a fancy Creative Zen, which you got as a gift from your friends or you bought for yourself, and would like to watch your favorite movies or just listen to the beautiful music using it's Sometimes you might encounter such an embarrassing situation as you are trying to playback a certain file format (video/audio) on it, but it just cant work out. Creative Zen video converter is just the program you need. It is a simple yet powerful Video to Creative Zen converter software that can convert almost all video/audio formats to Creative Zen compatible format and enables you to solve these problems quite easily with a few mouse clicks.
    The Creative ZEN is a range of digital audio players (DAPs) and portable media players. All players are compatible with MP3 and WMA, while various models support WAV and Audible files. They are nati'vely compatible with Windows, while the current players exclusi'vely support Windows XP and Vista. They also support various other formats: Video: iMJPEG, WMV, and AVI (MPEG-4 SP, DivX, Xvid), while MPEG-, and MPEG-2 are supported, but must be transcoded with the included software (Video must not exceed the player's dimensions at 320240 pixels); Audio: MP3, AAC (unprotected ".m4a"), WMA (including protected), WAV, and Audible 2, 3, and 4 formats.
    At the moment when you feel you got what you wanted of using Creative Zen video converter, there are reasons to save your project, in case if you want to change any adjustments and settings late, or a desire to get the resulting video as soon as possible. The both things will seem to be a trifle to do if to follow the steps below.

  • Get video dimensions

    Hi,
    how do i get video width and height?
    Ive set up the simplest of all video players just using a mediaContainer and mediaPlayer.
    mediaContainer width and height are set to 640x360px (16:9).
    when i load a 4:3 video i know that the video is set to 480x360 to maintain the aspect ratio.
    But as i am working with a dynamic size for the video player i am searching for an easy way
    to get the size of the current video. I know that i could do it by taking the aspect ratio of the
    video from the metadata and calculate the size by myselt, but there must be an easier way to do it?!
    greets
    vincent

    Thanks for the quick answer.
    This is either not what i was looking for or i might be to stupid right now
    This is what ive done:
    private function playSingleStream(source:String):void
        _streamResource = new StreamingURLResource(source, _streamType, start, _streamEnd);
        _streamResource.urlIncludesFMSApplicationInstance = true;
        _streamElement = new VideoElement(_streamResource, _netLoader);
        _streamElement.smoothing = true;
        _streamElement.addEventListener(MediaElementEvent.TRAIT_ADD, traitAddHandler);
        _mediaPlayer.media = _streamElement;
        _mediaContainer.addMediaElement(_streamElement);
    private function traitAddHandler(e:MediaElementEvent):void
        if(e.traitType == MediaTraitType.DISPLAY_OBJECT)
            var t:VideoElement = e.currentTarget as VideoElement;
            var dp:DisplayObjectTrait = t.getTrait("displayObject") as DisplayObjectTrait;
            dp.addEventListener(DisplayObjectEvent.MEDIA_SIZE_CHANGE, mediaSizeChangeHandler);
    private function mediaSizeChangeHandler(e:DisplayObjectEvent):void
        log(e.newWidth);
        log(e.newHeight);
    i am still only getting the original size of the video in mediaSizeChangeHandler.
    also the MEDIA_SIZE_CHANGE is not triggered when i resize the videoplayer although video the video
    is definitly resized because it is displayed in correct size and place.

  • How to get video of more than one security camera in java

    I want to get video from more than one security cameras and i really donot know yet how we do this that get videos continously with more than one camera
    olz i a beginner help me

    Hello.
    I don't know if the topic still matters, but as I took advantage from the information in the preview posts, I decided to give my share.
    I successfully ran three webcameras at the same time in a Linux machine with JMF.
    The two main issues are:
    1. It is necessary to run the binary "jmfregistry" ($JMFHOME/bin/jmfregistry) to detect the cameras every time a new one is added to the system. (Remember to run the binary with a user with write privileges on the registry file ($JMFHOME/lig/jmf.properties)).
    2. It is mandatory to plug each camera in a different usb bus. In my case, the PC I was using had three accessible two-ports buses, two in the rear and one in the front of the box. If we try to use two cameras in the same bus, one of them won't work or the detecting procedure in the "jmfregistry" program will hang.
    I hope it helps. Any question, please feel free to ask.

    My configuration:
    Java:
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_01-b06)
    JMF-2.1.1e_linux_native
    The machine:
    OpenSuse Linux version 10.2 (kernel 2.6.18.2-34-default)
    running in a Celeron D processor 2.66 GHz
    Motherboard: Giga-byte GA-8IPE1000 Pro2 motherboard (865PE)
    The result of the "lsusb" command:

    In time (for linuxers): It was necessary to download and install the gspcav driver (http://mxhaard.free.fr/). It is also necessary do load this driver before the camera driver:
    modprobe gspca
    modprobe zc0301 (this one comes with the distribution)

  • How to get Videos in itunes/ipod??

    Maybe I'm just a moron, but how do I get videos to upload to itunes? First of all, when I click over to the movies tab in itunes, the screen is black. Unlike the music section, where there are songs listed, or at least a blank page, the screen is simply black. I've tried dragging movies onto the screen- nothing. I've tried going through the file menu and adding a file- nothing. Nothing will change the black screen. I've heard that sometimes movies aren't compatable with itunes and you need a different format? Could that be the problem? My movies are in windows media player. Anyway, please help me. Thanks in advance.

    The key to getting videos to appear in the MOVIES or the TV SHOWS libraries is the dropdown "Video Kind" menu in the file info. Right-click a video and choose Get Info. On the Video tab, choose the video kind.
