How to go from FCPX 10.1 to high quality DVD a 90 minute project?

I have a 90 minute FCPX movie and want a quality DVD to share.  I have used IDVD in the past and have purchased Wondershare DVD Creator. Neither will produce a DVD that is usable.  The IDVD converts it to a low quality item that is not very good.  The other product can't seem to get a DVD that is readable by my DVD player or my friend's blue ray player.   I save project to a QT mov file and want to burn a DVD.  The media in the FCPX project is HD

DVD is standard definition only so you never going to get a highwuality or anything like HD quality on a DVD, certainly not one of that length.

  • Can I export a high quality DVD from iMovie?

Please help.  I am making a short experimental film which will show in a gallery in a few weeks.  I need the final product to be as high quality as possible.  It will be projected on a big screen before an audience.  Can I make a high quality DVD from iMovie?  I have iMovie 08 and would like to upgrade it to iMovie 11 to get the most features.  But I don't want to do a lot of work then find out I can't exhibit the final project properly.  I have been reading about iMovie for days on this forum, but I can't get a handle on exactly what is the difference between all the versions.  What do you suggest?

I should mention that my movie is made up entirely of still photos with lots of transitions, jump cuts, etc.  I don't know if that makes a difference.

  • HT4078 How do I burn a high quality dvd from iDVD?

I made a slideshow in iDVD using hi-res photos, but when I burned my dvd, it was really low quality. How do I fix this?

Additionally, if you want high quality slide shows, you might want to consider using a third party app called Photo to Movie. I find their options (including HD quality) and zooms (Ken Burns effect) far superior to the lack of quality of the Ken Burns effect in iPhoto, iMovie, and iDVD. My workflow is that I create the slideshow in Photo to Movie, export it at the highest expert settings, then either import it into iMovie to incorporate it into a project or simply add it to iDVD as a movie along with the others.

  • How to upgrade from IOS 4.21 to higher

Can anyone help, I need to upgrade my IOS on my IPOD from 4.21 to a higher version, preferrable the most current (IOS 7).  I tried syncing to ITunes but there do not seem to be an available update.  Is there any other way?
    Thanks
    Robert

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
To more easily find compatible apps:
iOSSearch - search the iTunes store for compatible apps.
Apple Club - filter apps by iOS version.
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.

  • Help with getting high quality DVDs from AVCHD footage

    Hello,
I know enough about video editing with PE7 to be dangerous, and was hoping someone could help me out.
My question is regarding getting the highest quality standard DVD from AVCHD footage. I have a Sony HDR-SR12 camcorder recording in AVCHD. I am editing footage natively in AVCHD with PE7 on a quad core system. No problem with that. However, when I export to standard DVD the quality of the video goes down drastically. (Yes, I know burning to Blu-ray would give me higher quality, but I am giving this DVD to a friend who doesn't have Blu-ray).
So far I have tried starting my project in both HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel:
    General
    Editing mode: HDV 1080i
    Timebase: 29.97 fps
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 1440h 1080v (1.333)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333)
    and Full HD 1080i 30 5.1 channel:
    General
    Editing mode: HD 1080i
    Timebase: 29.97 fps
    Video Settings
    Frame size: 1920h 1080v (1.000)
    Frame rate: 29.97 frames/second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square Pixels (1.0)
But I see no discernable difference in the quality of my output onto DVD.
This is where my knowledge is lacking...how can I get the best quality output from my AVCHD onto a standard DVD? Is there some format I can convert to first, and then burn to DVD? Also, I am willing to break the footage into a couple of DVDs to improve the quality, but I don't know how or what to do for that.
My footage looks REALLY great when viewing from the HDR-SR12 direct to HD TV with HDMI cable, but not very good on the DVD. My footage is of a ballet recital, and I lose definition in the faces, costumes, etc on the DVD output.
    Any help is appreciated! Thanks!
    Gina

    Hey Gina,
This may be a year late, but as I have been pulling my hair out trying to solve this problem for the last 48 hours I finally did find somewhat of a work around, but it requires Adobe PP CS4.2.
    There is a plug-in here:
    http://www.mainconcept.com/site/prosumer-products-4/mpeg-pro-hd-7850/features-7861.html
Which will actually output your edit as an AVCHD file. You can then burn this straight to an AVCHD using Nero 9 and keep the highquality level of your clips and not need Blu-Ray. The DVD player will need to be AVCHD capable, but I just bought one of those for $40 as compared to the $200+ of most Blu-Ray players.
    Hope that helps.
    Regards,

  • Help. trying to burn a dvd from fcpx. says bitrate too high

I'm using fcpx for a montage with effects like generators etc...not sure if this is why it says bitrate too high. I want to burn a dvd and it stops at 66% saying bitrate too high. I've seen an answer from 2011....wondering if anyone has anything new? My computer is Mac book pro 15 inch, latest software. I went to compressor but the final product doesn't allow me to put in a title and i'm worried about final quality. Thanks for any help

I would say usually it's about the same. If the settings are adjusted properly, it can sometimes improve the results; conversely, there's always the potential to get terrible results if the settings are wrong. (FCP X Share kind of takes that risk out of the process.)
Where the software can often add value is when you have long videos that you're trying to fit on a disk. Or trying to compress certain HD material with complex scenes. Or sometimes, you'll run into players that choke on a DVD and the adjustments in Compressor give you a chance to adjust the bit rate to a level that widens the disk's playability. And there are audio and video effects that can be added in Compressor without re-editing in FCP.
BTW, I don't believe you've yet told us how long your project is.

  • How to import from a disk that is a cd/dvd combo

I have a cd that is a cd/dvd combo. I am trying to import only the audio portion of the cd but am not able to. Itunes will not recognize the audio portion of it. Windows media player will only play the dvd portion.

Look on the disc's case, on the back. See if it has any wording about copy-protection. Some of those combo deals are set up so you can't rip them. In which case I would return it to the store and let the artist/label company know you aren't happy with not being able to put it on an ipod.
I had one of those a few years back and I couldn't get my XP machine to rip it, but it worked OK on a Mac.

  • How to have a high quality DVD?

    Hello to all,
Which quality of QT movie format [422 HQ or H.264] is to be chosen for burning a DVD and what are the advantages or disadvantages of one over the other?

if you want highest quality, 'trick' #1 is:
    avoid in-betweens
    • your camcorder compresses
    • your editor probably compresses/converts
    • the disk-maker app converts/compress
all those conversion processes are lossy, compression artefacts get 'multiplied'.
the good looking source file could look in step #2 horrible.
lucky you, most consumer apps on Mac allow a direct process; my preferred tool, iDVD
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3711
accepts 'any' (umm, well, most…) files, Quicktime supports.
So, aside setting your camera to 'max quality' (= don't squeeze 4h onto a 2GB SDcard....) and creating max quality in recording (light! don't make your camera use amplification = 'noise' in picture = no quality in final product), I would export from within FCPX with proRes(LT), I assume, this is your Project's settings?
    a) fast export (=no conversion takes place)
    b) no additional conversion
    c) iDVD (Toast, Burn...) will 'swallow' that format and converts finally
    d) such an export is huuuuge (1h=20-40GBs)! don't worry, the disk-burner cares only for length (min:sec). and  disk-space is no issue in video-making, isn't it
using a 'manual'/customized method means, YOU have to keep in mind all that background-info (tech bla bla follows:) such as maximum bitrate of a standard videoDVD, udf formatting, supported audio-codecs, resolution, anamorphic flag,  ... bla bla bla
tools as iDVD (Toast...) will care automatically.
    final hint:
iDVD sets the bit-rate (= most determing 'quality'-factor) to max, if the content of the whole disk, incl. menus,  is less than 60min ....
    final word:
is a commercial DVD done with a 40$ iDVD.app? No, for sure.
These are done by professionals with professional tools.
    Using professional sources.-
compression is more an 'art' than just technique.

  • Quickly create 8 minute highest quality DVD with no menus from Motion 4?

What's the fastest/simplest way to create a high quality DVD without any menus that just plays from Motion 4?
    I set quality to best.
I just tried using Share, and I can see one of my processors working at 100%, but I've got no indication of any progress - or even that it is working, except I can see a few files in the directory I told it to create them in.
I told it to create a DVD (there was a checkbox), so I put a DVD in the drive.
I have no idea how long I should wait until giving up? I'd generally avoided trying to send anything to Compressor from motion, as it would take 10x longer.

    Heya Les,
For the quickest method at the highest quality I would export a self-contained movie from Motion and take the self-contained QT movie and bring it into Compressor. Because SD DVD is compressed to MPEG-2 video format you will want to have control over how the file is compressed at the target bitrate of compression in order to achieve the best quality. You would want to duplicate and edit one of the DVD settings in Compressor then set the video bitrate to about 7.5/mbps because anything over that bitrate may cause playback errors on certain DVD players. I may receive compensation from my link. Make sure the audio is set to 192/kbps AC3 in Compressor.
You can setup distributed processing with Qmaster to enable multiple processor cores in a cluster and take advantage of multi core processing in Compressor. Additional info if necessary (more on the web by searching).
Then after Compressor is finished compressing the self-contained QT file take the compressed MPEG-2 file and .AC3 audio file and import them into a DVD Studio Pro project and follow these instructions to make the movie autoplay without any menus. I'll throw up some screenshots on the linked page soon to provide a visual reference of how to use DVD Studio Pro to create a DVD that autoplays without a menu.

  • How to keep a High Quality Movie Resolution using IDVD ?

    Hi,
When I connect my camcorder to the TV directly, I can see very sharp resolution video (in normal TV screen format).
If I download the same recording to Apple in widescreen format, add music to it using iMovie and then burn it using iDVD, I get very poor resolution when I watch this movie on the same TV.
Would you know how can I do to keep my sharp resolution after burning my movie using IDVD?
    Kind Regards.

    Hi
This is due to iMovie and really iMovie'08 or 09
They are aimed for quick editing to web-publishing - not high quality DVD.
iMovie 1 to HD 6 and FinalCut Express or Pro are the tool of choise for DVD or
    even Blue-Ray (needs Roxio Toast™ and ev. a Blue-Ray burner/disks)
iMovie'08 and 09 discard every second line = less quality very close to VHS.
I never managed to get full quality from them to feed iDVD.
    • Pro Quality encoding in iDVD is very sufficient to my needs and
burning out with Roxio Toast™ as Blue-Ray to standard DVD (max 20-30 minutes)
gives an even better result BUT ONLY PLAYBACK on Blue-Ray player or PlayStation 3.

  • How to Create a High Quality Band/Multitrack Recording Play-Through Video?

I am trying to work out the best way to make a playthrough video a little like these - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QUUajNPb5g - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAGqCAsk3gQ&feature=related .

I have Adobe Premiere CS6, Cubase 6, the aproprate mics, a soundcard etc, but I don't have a video camera, but I'd probably just get a £300-£500 one unless you guys think that's not right?
So I'm wondering how you might go about this?
    Cheers!!!
