How to have Firefox working in Frame Buffer?

Hi everyone.
In according with this thread, I've created this one.
I've tried to reboot and * run Firefox in Linux Tty and in Fbpad * (that is quite as Fbterm), and it doesn't work.
But, in the case of Tty, it * can't find any display *, in the case of Fbpad it * found "fb0" display *.
In both cases if I set the * "$DISPLAY" variable * (I use Bash), it says to me that can't open the specified display, whatever I set.
What am I missing?

So it's as I thought. It's possible just via DirectFb.
Now the question is: how?
I've already tried with Firefox, with DFB documentation without luck.
My goal would just be to have a "graphical" browser * outside * X. Just to have a decent Javascript support.
I already can read my mail, pdf, images, browsing the web (W3m for inline image and Elinks for navigation via hints), watching video (Flash too) anche listen to music. And for panels, session and keyboard shortcuts I use a scripted Tmux.
I know that support for "Office files" still left but it's not so important and we do what we can.
But what about Javascript?

I would like to start using Truecrypt and create a volume that will store all of the cache/cookies/settings/etc. of Firefox. I see the Truecrypt page on the wiki and am going to make the volume with it, but how would I get Firefox to start putting all of its data in there??

How to compress the frame/buffer . Encoder ???

I have get the frame/buffer by using codec. (FrameAccess.java)
I found the buffer is too large,so I want to compress them .
How can I do it ?? could you guys give me a solution ??

After compressing the frame/buffer, I wrap them (aout 1 second) as a package, and then transfer the package by UDP.
SO, I have to compress the frame/buffer.

Hi all.
Sorry if this is something simple, but I'm at a loss. I'm try to get an older PC to run some video apps (Mplayer, VLC, Etc.) at a decent speed, with frame-buffer support.
I've booted into Arch using after appending the 'vga=n' command to the kernel. I then ran mplayer without any video options specified, but it ran way too slow in comparison with Xorg. I also specified the 'fbdev2' option, but I couldn't go fullscreen. Is there something I need to do, or is the frame-buffer just slower in general?
The card is a Matrox G200 (8 MB).
In the end, I guess these would be the applicable questions:
- Is the Arch kernel built with 'matroxfb' support by default, and if it is, how do I use it?
- Do I need the 'directfb' package for anything?
- Do I need to build the Matrox drivers myself?
- Do I need to build Mplayer, or VLC, myself with Matrox FB support?

There is special support for Matrox in mplayer: -vo mga and -vo xmga
Run 'mplayer -vo help', see if those mentioned above are on the list. If not, you'll need to compile mplayer yourself. Though I have no idea what exactly the requisites are to get those working. If you can't get those to work, you're limited to fbdev which is indeed much slower than Xv, because colorspace conversion and scalign need to be done in software. So get vo mga working.

Sounds like you want to set up Firefox Sync. This will allow you to keep all of your instances of Firefox synchronized. Just follow the steps in [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/what-firefox-sync?s=sync&r=0&as=s this article] and you'll be set.

OK, I found the part about history. It is just to unmark that.

If I already have firefox open in Linux, how can I open a new URL in a new window.

I want to be able to click on a button, and have firefox open a new window at a given URL. Currently, if I already have firefox running, then it opens a new tab, which may be on a different desktop. Having to detach the new tab to a new window and move it back to the right desktop seems like unnecessary work.

If you think getting your web pages to appear OK in all the major browsers is tricky then dealing with email clients is way worse. There are so many of them.
If you want to bulk email yourself, there are apps for it and their templates will work in most cases...

Have firefox 2.0.0.20/upgraded my mac operating system to 10.4.11, and how do I upgrade firefox to 3.6 if that is best

I presently have firefox 2.0.0.20. which I used on my older os 20.28 for my mac. I just upgraded my mac os to a 10.4.11. I have been told that firefox 4.0 doesn't work on this os and to use 3.6 firefox...is that correct and if so how do I get it to download? thank you. MMHR

For older Macs that aren't supported in Firefox 4.0, try TenFourFox for PowerPC's running Mac 10.4.11 & 10.5.8 .

All of a sudden some of my sites have stopped working properly on Firefox and I have had to (reluctantly) go back to Internet Explorer to get them to work properly. Why??? Please help because I always prefer Firefox in all internet stuff

The problem sites have always worked properly on Mozilla Firefox until 2 of them stopped giving full access. I reverted to (yuk) Internet Explorer to see if the problem was still there, but, surprisingly I had full access with both programes. I repeated the attempts a couple of times in Firefox but now have to use IE when I require proper access.
Is the problem in a setting somewhere??
Please help because I HATE IE
