How to have image instead of blank player screen

I know virtually nothing about Dreamweaver and Flash...I know
how to update page, embed .flv files, etc, and how to encode
videos, but that's it. I am a videographer by trade. I am putting
videos up on my new website and they are not going to be autostart.
How can I have an image instead of a blank screen show on the
inactive player?
Thanks in advance

Hi,
In the VO list of values, check "Include no selection item", choose "Labelled item first of the list" from the drop down and give your custom label.
Thanks

• How to show text instead of blank value in SelectOneChoice list.

Hi,
I have a requirement where I need to show some string like 'Please Select Value' instead of blank item in the select one choice list. So instead on blank value, this string will be displayed in the choice list and if user doesnt select any value it should be treated as normal blank value and validation should be fired.
May I know is there any property which we can set declaratively or any workaround for this?
My JDev version : 11.1.1.7.0
Many thank in advance.

• How to go to finder from blank grey screen with apple icon and spinning gear

My Mac desktop won't start up,  it showed blank grey screen with an apple icon and spinning gear for ages. Due my computer is vintage so I would need to backup my user files before I could re-install OS X via NetBoot. My question is how can I access to the finder to back up my user folder from the grey screen.  Thanks

Take each of these steps that you haven't already tried. Stop when the problem is resolved.
To restart an unresponsive computer, press and hold the power button for a few seconds until the power shuts off, then release, wait a few more seconds, and press it again briefly.
Step 1
The first step in dealing with a startup failure is to secure the data. If you want to preserve the contents of the startup drive, and you don't already have at least one current backup, you must try to back up now, before you do anything else. It may or may not be possible. If you don't care about the data that has changed since the last backup, you can skip this step.
There are several ways to back up a Mac that is unable to start. You need an external hard drive to hold the backup data.
a. Start up from the Recovery partition, or from a local Time Machine backup volume (option key at startup.) When the OS X Utilities screen appears, launch Disk Utility and follow the instructions in this support article, under “Instructions for backing up to an external hard disk via Disk Utility.” The article refers to starting up from a DVD, but the procedure in Recovery mode is the same. You don't need a DVD if you're running OS X 10.7 or later.
b. If Step 1a fails because of disk errors, and no other Mac is available, then you may be able to salvage some of your files by copying them in the Finder. If you already have an external drive with OS X installed, start up from it. Otherwise, if you have Internet access, follow the instructions on this page to prepare the external drive and install OS X on it. You'll use the Recovery installer, rather than downloading it from the App Store.
c. If you have access to a working Mac, and both it and the non-working Mac have FireWire or Thunderbolt ports, start the non-working Mac in target disk mode. Use the working Mac to copy the data to another drive. This technique won't work with USB, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or Bluetooth.
d. If the internal drive of the non-working Mac is user-replaceable, remove it and mount it in an external enclosure or drive dock. Use another Mac to copy the data.
Step 2
If the startup process stops at a blank gray screen with no Apple logo or spinning "daisy wheel," then the startup volume may be full. If you had previously seen warnings of low disk space, this is almost certainly the case. You might be able to start up in safe mode even though you can't start up normally. Otherwise, start up from an external drive, or else use the technique in Step 1b, 1c, or 1d to mount the internal drive and delete some files. According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation.
Step 3
Sometimes a startup failure can be resolved by resetting the NVRAM.
Step 4
If you use a wireless keyboard, trackpad, or mouse, replace or recharge the batteries. The battery level shown in the Bluetooth menu item may not be accurate.
Step 5
If there's a built-in optical drive, a disc may be stuck in it. Follow these instructions to eject it.
Step 6
Press and hold the power button until the power shuts off. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed to start up, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Use a different keyboard and/or mouse, if those devices are wired. If you can start up now, one of the devices you disconnected, or a combination of them, is causing the problem. Finding out which one is a process of elimination.
Step 7
If you've started from an external storage device, make sure that the internal startup volume is selected in the Startup Disk pane of System Preferences.
Start up in safe mode. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know the login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
When you start up in safe mode, it's normal to see a dark gray progress bar on a light gray background. If the progress bar gets stuck for more than a few minutes, or if the system shuts down automatically while the progress bar is displayed, the startup volume is corrupt and the drive is probably malfunctioning. In that case, go to Step 11. If you ever have another problem with the drive, replace it immediately.
If you can start and log in in safe mode, empty the Trash, and then open the Finder Info window on the startup volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) Check that you have at least 9 GB of available space, as shown in the window. If you don't, copy as many files as necessary to another volume (not another folder on the same volume) and delete the originals. Deletion isn't complete until you empty the Trash again. Do this until the available space is more than 9 GB. Then restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.)
If the startup process hangs again, the problem is likely caused by a third-party system modification that you installed. Post for further instructions.
Step 8
Launch Disk Utility in Recovery mode (see Step 1.) Select the startup volume, then run Repair Disk. If any problems are found, repeat until clear. If Disk Utility reports that the volume can't be repaired, the drive has malfunctioned and should be replaced. You might choose to tolerate one such malfunction in the life of the drive. In that case, erase the volume and restore from a backup. If the same thing ever happens again, replace the drive immediately.
This is one of the rare situations in which you should also run Repair Permissions, ignoring the false warnings it may produce. Look for the line "Permissions repair complete" at the end of the output. Then restart as usual.
Step 9
If the startup device is an aftermarket SSD, it may need a firmware update and/or a forced "garbage collection." Instructions for doing this with a Crucial-branded SSD were posted here. Some of those instructions may apply to other brands of SSD, but you should check with the vendor's tech support.
Step 10
Reinstall the OS. If the Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
Step 11
Do as in Step 9, but this time erase the startup volume in Disk Utility before installing. The system should automatically restart into the Setup Assistant. Follow the prompts to transfer the data from a Time Machine or other backup.
Step 12
This step applies only to models that have a logic-board ("PRAM") battery: all Mac Pro's and some others (not current models.) Both desktop and portable Macs used to have such a battery. The logic-board battery, if there is one, is separate from the main battery of a portable. A dead logic-board battery can cause a startup failure. Typically the failure will be preceded by loss of the settings for the startup disk and system clock. See the user manual for replacement instructions. You may have to take the machine to a service provider to have the battery replaced.
Step 13
If you get this far, you're probably dealing with a hardware fault. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or go to another authorized service provider.

• OAF matester detail page : How to have a "Show All" feature on screen, so that all the master and details records are expanded .

Hi ,
I was trying to have a "SHOW ALL" feature on the master - detail page,
the detail table is an advancec table.
Please help me with inputs on how to have  "SHOW ALL" feature,
Currently, we have to click on  ":Show" for each record at master level to view the child data.
Trying to achive "Show All" Feature so that on click of this the master records on the page 'Expands"  showiing all master records with respective detail records.
Regards
bhuvanm

Hi,
You should not set DetailFlag = "Y" in whereclause because there is no such record.
Also detail flag is transient attribute and not the query column, hence the error "Invalid indentifier".
I asked you to use DetailFlag as query column with static value "Y".
for example:
SELECT "Y" detail_flag
FROM <table_name>
This will display all the table records in expanded format. if you want it conditionally then use decode on some bind parameters.
For example:
SELECT DECODE(:1, "SHOWALL", "Y", "N") detail_flag
FROM <table_name>
This bind parameter should be passed whenever you want to execute query for the table.

• Standalone (.exe) Flash 8 apps have stopped working with blank white screen

We have some standalone executable flash applications coded with Flash 8. These are the Microsoft Office 2007 command reference guides produced by Microsoft. Recently they have stopped working and now just display as a blank white screen when run.
As they are self contained Flash 8 movies, I'm unsure what would cause this.
Any ideas please? Could they be converted to a later version somehow? Or converted back to SWF so they can be recompiled back to exe with a later version of Flash? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

• White screen instead of blank black screen sreensaver...

I just want to use a blank black screensaver, but when I do I have a white screen instead.  The same also happens when I lock the screen, a white screen and a login box.  I'm using the newest gnome (2.24-3), nvidia driver, and compiz-fusion.  The opengl screensavers work fine.  I can't find anyone else when this problem so far.  I have searched quite a bit, but maybe I'm still not searching for the right thing.

• How do you add images to a Blank Composition?

I'm having a hard time finding how to insert images into a blank composition.
Can you help?

Click on the image box to highlight. A blue solid line should appear. Navigate to the Fill Tab in the Design Panel, click on the file icon beside the word image and choose the file you want to import.
Note: I make sure that the size of the box is the same size as the image I want to import, makes it a bit easier. To change the box size, make sure the solid blue line is highlighted, navigate to the to menu bar and locate the W and H pixel settings to modify.

• How can I fix a blank blue screen?

How can I get passed a blank blue screen?

There are several things you could try, as indicated by those mentioned in this Apple Support
article about how to resolve startup issues, and perform disk maintenance. Read through them:
•Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck - Apple Support
If you have the install-restore DVD for the system running in the Mac, that may help to start up
from and see if Disk Utility's repair disk could help. Of course, if there is a problem in hardware
a replacement hard disk drive may be necessary because these parts wear out.
A slightly different set of symptoms appear other Support articles about startup issues, but some
of the ideas are the same when attempting to resolve the cause at a user-level. If issues are too
difficult, you may choose to locate an authorized Apple service provider to have a professional
diagnostic test performed to determine if other things are behind the problematic Mac.
•Mac OS X: Gray screen appears during startup - Apple Support
•Your Mac won't start up in Mac OS X (Mac OS X Panther 10.3.9 or earlier) - Apple Support
(for later 10.4, 10.5, 10.6, 10.7 etc systems, see 'Gray screen appears on startup' above)
Links in these support pages (blue) are similar:
•OS X Mountain Lion: If you see a blue screen at startup
•OS X Mavericks: If you see a blue screen at startup
If you have an Intel-based Mac, some of the issues may be different than those with PowerPC
hardware; so it helps to be sure you have correctly identified the computer & its working OS X.
Good luck & happy computing!

• How to specify SWF instead of an image in loading

I hope it is not too much over my head as I would like to make it work. Some time ago I recieved help in constracting an interactive image thumb scroller using greensock features.
My biggest problem at the moment is that I can not figure out how to change the code so the thumbs would bring up the swf files and not jpg files. In other words my small thumbnails are small jpg files (as they were intended to be), but my bigger visuals (the ones which are being brought by clicking on the small thumbnails) I would like to change to an swf file (as it contains its separate animation and additional set of buttons)
I could figure out that I have to change the line
new ImageLoader("assets/images/" + image.@name + ".jpg", {name:image.@name + "Image", width:_IMAGE_WIDTH, height:_IMAGE_HEIGHT, scaleMode:"proportionalInside", bgColor:0x000000, estimatedBytes:820000, onFail:_imageFailHandler}
and instead of ".jpg" put ".swf" (making sure that the names of the files are identical except for their extensions)
The problem is that I get an error message in the output that flash could not convert my swf file to the bitmap.
I suspect that I have to change the hard coding to specify that Loader Max should treat loading bigger swf files as swf and not as image/jpg files.
I don't have enough expertise to decipher all the lines where this has to be changed.
It feels that I am close to accomplishing what I need. Is it possible to point out where this change has to take place?
Here is my thought process:
I don't need to specify SWFLoader as LoaderMax is already specified (line 5)
I don't need to change anything in lines 31-34 as "Sprite" and "Slide" could be an .swf file (line31-34)
I don't need to change anything in line 50 for the same reason (line 50)
I don't need to change lines 66 and 68 as image list may contain swf files (line 66 and 68)
I do need to change ".jpg" to ".swf" in line 72 (line 72)
No sure if there are any changes in line 82 (line 82)
LoaderMax has var as imagesQueue does that need to be changed into SFWLoader? (lines98-102)
I don't think anything need to be changed in lines 138-173 as " Slide" can incorporate an SWF file (lines 138-173)
Not sure if there has to be a change in lines 175-177 as it specifies that slide is an image (lines 175-177)
Not sure if there has to be a change in lines 182-200 from imageLoager to SWFLoader (lines 182-200)
Not sure if there has to be a change in lines 239-245 in specifying SWFLoader (lines 239-245)
I am attaching the .xml and .as documents as well

This was my very first step.

• How can I start firefox with new tab instead of blank page?

Today I update firefox to 13.0. I like the new "new type". I want to konw how can I start firefox with new tab instead of blank page?
I don't want to change the homepage to about:newtab.
Sorry for my bad English.

This is a very annoying thing. Every update from Firefox resets this config setting back to about:newtab. I changed '''''browser.newtab.url''''' in 12.x to '''''about:blank''''' and it resetted back in update 13.0 and now I have to do the same thing again in 13.0.1.
The drawback with about:newtab is Firefox opens up dataports for every URL that are linked and gets reopened for every lame 'newtab' you click on. Just use [http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897437.aspx Tcpview - data port viewer] and watch how many extra dataports that opens up from this crazy 'feature'.

Answers in this forum have shown different things have worked for different people.
For some clearing YouTube cookies and the cache solved the problem. For details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Deleting+cookies and https://support.mozilla.com/kb/How+to+clear+the+cache
Others had to go a step further after deleting YouTube cookies and block YouTube from saving cookies. In the Tools menu select Options to open the Options window. Go to the Privacy panel and make sure it is set to "Use custom setting for history". Click the Exceptions button, type in http://www.youtube.com and click on Block
Another option is to disable hardware acceleration for Flash. To do that right-click on a Flash video, select Settings, go to the first tab of the settings for the option to enable/disable hardware acceleration for Flash. This is something recommended by YouTube for those having problems - http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?&answer=1209379
