How to have lenovo backup put on another drive

Hi i just intalled a msata drive.  the lenovo backup was created on the SSD and is using space i could use better.  I have the original drive in the laptop, would it be possible to have the back up made on the 500G drive rather than on my SDD ?
thanks

I don't think you can move it.  The image you posted indicated that you have already made your recovery media.  If you have done so, you can delete that R&R partition and add the space to C:
If you right click on it (Q: usually) are you offered an option to delete and add the space to C:?
If you haven't already made recovery media something is wrong - you shouldn't get that pop-up error.
Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing here, what partitions do you see in explorer and disk management?  Which one are you referring to as the R&R partition?

  • How do I retrieve my music library after a complete computer crash.  I have a backup on a flash drive and I can access my Itunes account but my play lists and music are gone.

How do you retrieve downloaded music and playlists after a complete computer crash.  I can log into my Itunes account and make purchases but my music library is gone.  I have an external backup on a flash drive but for some reason the music does not show up there either. It's like I have a brand new account and have to start all over.  Itunes must have an archive I can access to get my music back, right?

Playlists should be part of your backup copy.

  • How to have a backup of OS X Marvericks which I'm downloading form Appstore?

Questions says all. I'm just upgrading my os to marvericks and I was thinking to have a backup so that If necessary I can store that for future. It's not always possible to download over 5 GB file. But I don't know where that file is storing or downloading. So, if  you help me that  would be great.

If you download Mavericks and wish to save it, then copy it from your Applications folder to your Downloads folder. Once installed the installer deletes itself automatically.
You have backup software that comes with OS X called, Time Machine. You will  need an external hard drive with at least twice the capacity of your computer's hard drive. Use Time Machine to backup to the hard drive.
Make Your Own Mavericks, Mountain/Lion Installer
After downloading the installer you must first save the Install Mac OS X application. After the installer downloads DO NOT click on the Install button. Go to your Applications folder and make a copy of the installer. Move the copy into your Downloads folder. Now you can click on the Install button. You must do this because the installer deletes itself automatically when it finishes installing.
       2. Get a USB flash drive that is at least 8 GBs. Prep this flash drive as follows:
Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
After DU loads select your flash drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the leftside list. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list.
Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to an hour depending upon the flash drive size.
Use DiskMaker X to put your installer clone onto the USB flash drive.
Make your own Mavericks flash drive installer using the Mavericks tool:
You can also create a Mavericks flash drive installer via the Terminal. Mavericks has its own built-in installer maker you use via the Terminal:
You will need a freshly partitioned and formatted USB flash drive with at least 8GBs. Leave the name of the flash drive at the system default, "Untitled." Do not change this name. Open the Terminal in the Utilities folder. Copy this entire command line after the prompt in the Terminal's window:
         sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume
         /Volumes/Untitled --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction
Press RETURN. Enter your admin password when prompted. It will not be echoed to the screen so be careful to enter it correctly. Press RETURN, again.
Wait for the process to complete which will take quite some time. When it is completed it would be a good idea to try booting the computer from the flash drive to be sure that it works.

  • Trying to copy backups.backupdb to another drive

When I try to copy this file, I get the following:
"The backup can’t be copied because the backup volume doesn’t have ownership enabled."
I went to command-i, for get info, and enabled read-write priviledges for the file and sub folder but still get this message.
How can I copy this to another drive? The current drive is failing and disk utility recommends reformatting.
    Thank you for your help!

Disk Utility gave me the same advice and I got the same caution about ownership.

  • How to take Auto backup from External Network Drive to Mac pro internal Dri

    Hi,
I have a External Network Drive (Buffalo 1TB) which i use as a server, now i need to take auto backup from that external drive to the Mac i am working on, which has 2TB Internal hard Disk.
Please could anyone help me on this.....
    Thanks in advance

If you are looking to actually integrate what you have on the external one terabyte hard drive with the 2 TB hard drive you're using inside the Mac the best move for you if you want access to that data when using the Mac Pro server is going into utilities click on the top bar where it says go fall that down to the utilities told them that folder quickly once you are there you will see migration assistant click on that you will be asked to type your admin password to that. It will ask you "how do you want to transfer your information" then select from a Time machine backup or other disk when it asks you will be transferring information to your Mac Pro from your 1 Tb backup external hard drive once it's finished eject the drive or reformat it and use it again if your objective was to infect keep compress the data on the external so you have more space but do not have access to it I strongly recommend Carbon Copy Clone 3.3.1 is 100% free and does a fantastic job here is the link http://www.pure-mac.com/downloads/carboncopyclonerdl.html of copying every block to create an exact replica of your source hard drive. If you want something different and don't mind paying SuperDuper! is a great product as well this WebSite will have many options I would stick to carbon copy clone http://www.pure-mac.com/backup.html I also like EMC Retrospect backup and recovery software for the Mac it is a great product but very much on the expensive side for backup utilities although if you need word offers this might be right up your alley.
    I hope I wasn't help,
    Sincerely,
    Thomas

  • How to restore OSX after I add another drive in window partition?

I installed Windows 7 using Bootcamp one month ago and it worked fine.
Today, I decided to make another drive in Windows partition.(I din't know I could not make another drive.)
So, I shrank C drive and made E drive using disk manager in Windows.(I could not choose D drive)
After I did that, I saw that OSX partition was gone and G and H drives were made.
I no longer see boot option to select OSX or Windows when I boot.
I can only select Windows. I can not boot to OSX.
    How can I restore OSX?
I don't want to lose data in Mac.

    Do a backup.
The first thing you need to do is sort out which partition has what on it and how many partitions you want to keep.. Then boot into the Recovery Volume (command - R or hold down option key) and restart. Use Disk Utility to set the number of partitions you want. If everything is really messed up, you might want to erase the entire disk and then reset the partitions. I would run Disk Utility Repair Permissions and Verify before installing. Then reinstall the OS on the partition you want. If you erase the drive then reinstall Boot Camp/Windows.

  • How to Store and Access Clips on Another Drive

hi all...how can I keep clips/projects on a drive other than my boot volume? Do I just have to move them back and forth? Or can you setup iMovie to access clips from various drives?
    Thanks!

imovie will store new clips where you tell it to in your import options, it will see any valid connected drive and list it in the drop down list of locations.
imovie will also look for attached drives and list any clips it finds in your event list whenever it is opened.
In the top RH corner of the events list is a small HDD icon, click on it to reveal which of your events are stored where, if you want to move an event, drag it to the appropriate drive, imovie will copy it over and remove the original.
DO NOT move events in the finder, it will cause you problems.

  • Can't copy Time Machine "Backups.backupdb" to another drive.

My external Time Machine backup drive now displays this message every time I connect it to my Mac.
Mac OS X can't repair the disk "Backup Drive"
You can still open or copy files on the disk, but you can’t save changes to files on the disk. Back up the disk and reformat it as soon as you can.
Since this is a Time Machine drive, I found these instructions here -- Time Machine: How to transfer backups from the current backup drive to a new backup drive -- that say to copy the Backups.backupdb to a new drive.
Every time I do this, the process gets to about 150,000 files then crashes my Mac. Sometimes it's a grey screen with words telling me to hold the Power Button down to force a reboot. Sometimes it just crashes and reboots itself.
I've repaired disk permissions and it keeps happening.
How do I copy Backups.backupdb to a new drive when the process keeps crashing my Mac?

Try using one of the clone apps to copy. It's possible the drive is too damaged and the files will not copy.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone.

  • The external hard drive with my iTunes library on it died, but I have it backed up on another drive. What's the best way to make iTunes switch to the new drive for reference?

I've been through similar problems before and used the .xml file to restore the library, but is a better way of just changing the drive pathways in iTunes so it doesn't have to rebuild everything from scratch? I'm using a PC with Windows Vista.

Change the drive letter of the backup drive so it matches the one that died. If necessary move/rename the backup folder so that it matches the old path of the media folder.

  • How do I move itunes content to another drive?

When I installed iTunes a while ago I accepted the defaults for file and contrent location, which is all on the C: drive. Now I need to make a bit of room on the drive, and I figured I move everything to the D: drive, which has enough free space (250 GB or so). I followed the Apple instructions (iTunes for Windows: Moving your iTunes Media folder - Apple Support), which for some reason end with iTunes10 (I am using iTunes 12 now), but that seems to not have worked. After following everything to the letter, I end up with just an empty folder ("Automatically add to iTunes"), and a 1 kb "plist" file in the new location.
I simply want to to move all the content from drive C: to Drive D:. How do I do that?

  • How do I delete backups from my hard drive

I have an external hard drive that backs up my laptop daily.  I am trying to create some movies but have run out of space on my laptop due to low memory.  When I check my hard drive it shows 79 GB as "Backups".  I do not need this backed up to my computer and would like to delete as I use external storage.  I can not find where these backups are so need direction to access and delete them.

  • HT1391 How to move my media files to another drive with Itunes 11

I am using Itunes 11 on a Windows 7 PC.  My C Drive is full and I am trying to move all my media files to D drive.  While previous versions of Itunes seem  to allow this, the instructions for doing so with Itunes 11 state that files already on the drive will stay where they are even if you change the location of the media file.  Only new files will move to the new location.

    About the iTunes library files
Your iTunes library files track the media you add to iTunes, how you've organized it, and other information such as playlists. By default, these two files are in your iTunes folder:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music/iTunes/
    Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows Vista: C:\Users\username\Music\iTunes\
    Windows 7: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\
    Windows 8: C:\Users\username\My Music\iTunes\

  • I just purchase T400 how do I have Lenovo install the Home version of Vista 64-bit on my system.

The T400 I ordered comes with P8400 a 64-bit processor and 4 gigs of ram and I would like my system to take advantage of these two items by going with a 64-bit OS.
I called and they transfered me to Sales department so they could help.  The sales rep told me that the Home Premium 64-bit version of Vista didn't exist.   I know you can order the Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 - 40512YU with Genuine Windows Vista Home Premium 64 as the default standard.
Does anybody know how to have Lenovo install Home Premium 64-bit or send me the disc with it?
    Thank you for any help.
