as subject. want to have a process to health-check james server to see whether it's alive or not?
any ideas?
can we telnet the pop3 port of it and see any standard reply message to see it? thanks!

Time Machine automatically checks the backups on the disk. It does a quick check (a few seconds) before every backup, and periodically (every month, I think) does a much more thorough check.
You can do that yourself, by holding the Alt/Option key while selecting the TM icon in your menubar, and selecting Verify Backups. That may take quite a while, if you have a lot of data. I'd recommend connecting via Ethernet, as it will still be slow, but 2-3 times faster than WIFI.

There are several ways of verifying if server is still running
1) Through JCMon command line tool on server
Call jcmon as <sid>adm using following command
jcmon pf=/usr/sap/<sid>SYS/profile/<sid>_<instance>_<host>
jcmon displays the server processes in status "Running" if all applications have started successfully. Otherwise it displays the appropriate status message
2) Through SAP MMC which again shows the graphical status as Green
3) On NWDS using J2EE view
4) If telnet port is enabled on J2EE Engine, then you can remotely check the status of server using telnet command

How can I support a health check, from a load balancer?

My company has load balancers which use health checks to determine if the end point is available for client traffic. The basic health check is a tcp ping, and will tell you if the device is on the network. The next level of health check is an http request. This request, and the response are static, you can’t create your own version of the request and response. The standard request is this:
     http://host:port/healthcheck/hc.html
The standard response is this:
     “The server is available”
I want to use the load balancer as part of my total deployment. The problem is that I am not seeing how to support this health check request and response in the MDEX engine. What I see is this request
     http://host:port/admin?op=ping
Will return this response
     dgraph <host>: <port> responding at <day month year time>
It is nice that there is a built in ping, but I am not able to make use of it. I am new to Endeca and still poking around. The dgraph process listens on a port set up in <…>/config/script/AppContext.xml

In a standard tc Server install I can support this health check by doing this:
* Create a directory named “healthcheck”, in the “webapps” directory.
* Place a file name “hc.html” in that directory, which contains “The server is available”
The one hack which comes to mind is to write a servlet which would be able to be a smart proxy for the load balancer health check. It would pass along any regular traffic to the MDEX engine. But if the request was a health check it would send “admin?op=ping” to the MDEX engine, and for a good response from the engine, create and pass back the correct response to the load balancer.

Hi, we are using following String to test the MDEX ping response but we get the invalid version formation on dgraph.log -
following is on F5
GET /admin?op=ping HTTP/1.1/r/nHost:myhost.endeca.com:19000/r/nConnection:close/r/n/r/n
Following gets logged on Dgraph.log
WARN 09/05/12 05:30:03.799 UTC (1346823003799) DGRAPH {dgraph} Invalid version format in 'HTTP/1.1/r/nHost:myhost.endeca.com:19000/r/nConnection:close/r/n/r/n'
Please let me know - if you have any suggestions to solve this issue.
I know that it works from browser and wget from unix with following commands.

How can i check the office web app server(wac client) is calling custom WOPI host?

I am getting an error when I testing my wopi host(which is the same as
example) with Office Web app server "Sorry, there was a problem and we can't open this document. If this happens again, try opening the document in Microsoft Word."
1-how can find the log files of this error?
2-how can i check the office web app server(wac client) is calling my WOPI host?
I am not sure about cumunication between owa to wopi host. I actually dont know how to implement checkfile and getfile functions to wopi host for waiting for call back from owa client.
Note:I am sure that office web app server is configured true. Because i test it with sharepoint 2013 and editing and viewing is working well.

According to your post, my understanding is that
CheckFileInfo is how the WOPI application gets information about the file and the permissions a user has on the file. It should have a URL that looks like this:
HTTP://server/<...>/wopi*/files/<id>?access_token=<token>
While CheckFileInfo provides information about a file, GetFile returns the file itself. It should have a URL that looks like this:
HTTP://server/<...>/wopi*/files/<id>/contents?access_token=<token>

TS3899 How do I check to see if the problem resides on the server (e.g., the mail server is not responding) rather than assuming the issue is with my phone and devise setup?

As of sometime after September 10, 2012, at 4:40PM, I have not been receiving any mail. Not on my iPhone, iPad, iMac, or MacBookPro. The trouble shooting help on Apple's web site is designed to help ensure my devise settings are accurate. However, I moved from .Mac to .me and now to .cloud and have operating with no issues for several months on the iCloud.
How can I check to see if my mail problem is really Apple's fault rather than double checking all my devise settings ad nausiam? I feel there is a server issue with Apple because none of my devises can receive mail, however, I do not know how to validate my theory with Apple. I get an error message telling me:
Cannot Get Mail
The connection to the server failed.
Apple says there is a mail server problem affecting 1% of users. However, am I one of the 1%? If I assume I am, wait for the problem to be fixed, and then learn I was not one of the 1% and continue to have mail issues, then I will be more frustrated.

I have the same problem since yesterday morning. I checked the systems status and still the same. I guess we are the 1.1% who has problem with their email.

Because we have DNS server and DMS server.
Now I m working in Production server,
How I can check the DMS files is storing in DMS server or in DNS server.
The DMS configuration is working fine but I donu2019t know how I could check whether the files or storing in DMS server or in DNS server. Or any other configuration is required.

If u r using DMS_C1_ST storage category, then ur original are checking in to SAP data base, because, this category is created using SAP database.If ur using separate content server for storing originals, then create content repository in ur content server and storage category in content repository.
Now while checking in, system will ask u to choose storage category, instead of selecting DMS_C1_ST , select which u have created in ur content server, then ur originals will store in DMS content server.

Must be the server has different clients,one declared as application server ie abap stack client and the other declared as Integration server ie XI. U might be trying to open idx5 in application server client, in which idx5 exists but you cant open the screen even, that can be achieved through we02.
000 is the default client when XI server is installed .We can create separate clients on the system through sccl tcode.
As told we can find the client on sap logon screen.
Logon to sxmb_adm and check whether the client is declared as an application system(r/3) or Integration server(xi).Try idx5 in xi not r/3

How to check if server is up?

I have my own server (using no-ip) with my system but sometimes it might no be up and running, in that case all system should still continue working, and they do, the only problem is the system takes ages to really start - it seems that it keeps checking the server status for a long period of time.
My Question is: how can I set my JNLP to no keep checking server status if it not up and running?

Did you reboot the TC? That is always the first step.
Reboot the whole network if that is not enough.
If you still have issues.. come back to us but generally the best way is to factory reset the TC and start over.
We need a bit more info on the whole network layout and what OS you are running. What model TC you have??
