How to hide page size at bottom of pdf?

Hi
I've created a PDF docuemnt to be viewed on screen wich contains a lot of buttons etc. At the bottom of the page in normal view (we are not using full screen. or reading mode) the page size measurements pop up when the cursor approaches the bottom of the page. this is where my buttons are located and the measurements are obstructing the view of the buttons. Is there any way of hiding or removing this little pop up?
I know you can make it go away by selecting that it is always in view, but this is a document that is going to be sent out to a lot of people and I can't add instructions for reading. The changes made to the size pop up will have to be made so that the pdf doesn't need any adjustment with concerns to viewing when it leaves me.
PLEASE HELP!

This user preference cannot be controlled by a document. You can either set the initial zoom so that the pop-up appears to the left of the page, but that would be screen size dependent, or inform your users what they can do to prevent it by setting the preference.
Finally, if you set the document to hide the window controls, and the user's preference is set to allow a document to do this, the page size pop-up will not show.

  • How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?

How can I change the page size of a scanned PDF document?
I scanned a 50-page document with an HP 5610xi All-In-One using the software that comes with it: HP Scan Pro. Though the physical document has standard 8.5" x 11" pages, the PDF resulting from scanning has page size set to 35.42 × 48.67 inches (according to Preview's "Tools > Inspector". I want to resize the pages to 8.5" x 11". Shouldn't Preview be able to do that with "Tools > Adjust Size..."? When I try, the menu option is grey so I can't select it.
    I'm using Preview Version 4.2.

Thanks for the insight; that explains why it's the wrong size. I selected 300dpi scanning (which is the default, actually), but HP Scan Pro evidently created a PDF with 72dpi indicated. I want it fixed because I want to distribute the file to other people and have them able to print or display it without problems.
I still don't know why Preview won't let me change it, but your question about whether I wanted to print it did lead me to find a workaround: "File > Print" and "Save as PDF..." saved it with the correct page size.

  • How to increase page size for balance file upload in Workspace.

    Hi All,
Please suggest how to increase page size for balance file upload in shared Workspace pages.
    Thanks,

A word of caution is in order regarding changing from facing to non-facing and back again. If you have overridden master page items, you'll get a second, non-overridden copy on all the even-number pages when that half of the master page is re-applied. This applies to master text frames which override automatically when text flows into them as well as to objects you manually override. I think you'll find this particular technique also only works for master text frames, whereas the Layout Adjustment should work in all situations where frames snap to guides.

  • Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper)

Does anyone know how to use pages so you can export pdfs from the internet and automatically drag words from the document into the file name of the pdf (i.e., author, title of a scientific paper). For example, if I am downloading a paper by smith called "Surgery" that was published in 2002, it will automatically set the file name in the download to smith- surgery 2002. I have heard pages is smart enough to do this.
    thank you

Pages can export only its own documents. They may be exported as PDF, MS Word, RTF or Text files.
Pages can import (ie. Open a file as, or Insert a file into, a Pages document) documents in several formats, but won't rename the document as you describe. Documents that can be Opened (eg. Text, AppleWorks 6 WP, MS Word files) are converted to Pages documents, and retain their original names, with .pages replacing the original file extension. Files that can be Inserted (generally .jpg, .pdf and other image files) become part of the existing Pages file and lose their names.
It may be possible, using AppleScript, to extract the text you want and to Save a Pages file using that text as the filename, but that would depend in part on being able to identify which text is wanted and which is not.
How will the script determine where the author's name begins and where it ends?
How will the script recognize the beginning and of the title, an decide how much of the title to use in the filename?
How will the script recognize the year of publication?
For papers published in a specific journal, with a strict format for placing each of these pieces on information, or containing the needed information as searchable meta data in the file, this might be possible. But it would require knowledge of the structure of these files, and would probably handle only papers published in a specific journal or set of journals.
Outside my field of knowledge, but there are some talented scripters around here who might want to take a closer look.
    Best of luck.

  • How to calculate Page Size that allows for Trim Marks?

I have made a Word document in 4.75" x 7' Page Size and the print company is demanding they have Trim Marks so they can
cut the document to the precise size.
I went to Save As in the Word doc and converted the Word doc to PDF, no problem.
Then I found how to insert Trim Marks onto the PDF using Adobe Pro 9.
The Trim Marks are L shaped but with the 90 degree corner bit missing so they look like 2 straight lines that would tell the
print company where the sides and the top and the bottom are to be cut if the 2 lines were extended to the intersection of the L.
Something like this for Top Left   _I   and this for the Top Right    I_    and the mirror of those two for the bottom Trim Marks -
However when I use Acrobat Pro 9 to insert Trim Marks on a 4.75" x 7' Page Size, the Trim Marks themselves encroach on
the print area by about 9 mm or just under 0.375" because they are marking the corner of the page but it reduces the Page Size
by about 9 mm or just under 0.375" if I leave them there, ie, by the length of the Trim Marks themselves.
Is there a way to position Trim Marks where I want them?
If not then I presume I need to make my original Page Size bigger by the length of the Trim Marks all round?
If I need to up my original Page Size to accommodate the Trim Marks I need to know the exact length of the Trim Marks don't I?
Other wise if I get the length of the Trim Marks wrong they could either encroach slightly on the printed area or denote the
    wrong Page Size.
Or perhaps I've got it wrong and it's not the 90 degree intersection that marks the Page Size but rather it is the other ends of the
Trim Marks where the Trim Marks touch the border of the 4.75" x 7' Page Size that denotes the Trim Size?
But that would mean the Trim Marks do not show up on the Camera Ready page and are not seen after printing but somehow I
    don't think that's the case.
The attachment is a screen shot showing the Trim Marks on my 4.75" x 7' Page Size PDF.
Help would be very much appreciated.

Go to the Crop Pages command first and choose a page size bigger than the one you want. In Acrobat 8 it is at the bottom of the dialog box where it says change page sizes. Make sure to select for all the pages you want to have crops for. This will make the pages larger, but still no trim marks yet.
Next to to Advanced, Print Production, Add Printer Marks, choose trim marks. Make sure you have selected all the pages you wanted the trim marks to appear on. The trim marks will appear on your pages.
Kinda reverse of what you'd expect, but it will do it.
By the way this needs Acrobat Pro, not Reader.

  • How-To Changing Page Size in iAuthor

    Hi,
is there a possibility to change the page size of an iAuthor iBook? I would like to create one which has the same dimension in portrait and landscape mode because the original paper book ist published in this way (of course I know, that I will get empty space when turning the iPad in portrait mode).
    Thanks, Tom

Yes, Since you can't change the actual size of the ipad, technically you can't have a square page on the ipad.
This is the best you can do,
When i look at the Yellow Submarine book on my ipad this is how it looks. (with space on top and bottom)
    (screen capture below.)
So that is what I was suggesting.
If you want the square book spread to fill the full height you will have part of one of the pages cropped off.
    (748 x 2 = 1496)
472 pixels will be cropped off.
this is also how the YS book works, (ugly in my opinion) this is not possible in IBA.

  • Book Module - how to change page size?

I'd like to design book pages for my existing hard covers - A4 landscape and portrait. Also for specific 12x12 cover which takes 11.69" x 12" paper.
Have watched various YouTubes, search within support - but haven't found a reference to add preferred sizes. Yet.
Can anyone help on this one please?

Yep, that's how I am doing it. I just wanted to make sure that I was doing it correctly. I need to keep debugging then and figure out what the real problem is. I am new to all of this (obviously) and I just needed to make sure I had the idea correct. I didn't mean to use document and page interchangeably, I understand that you can't have different size pages in the same document.
    Thank you for your help.
[FYI]I created a class that creates a document with most of the document settings that I use (e.g. a standard number of pages, non-facing pages, units in inches, etc.) but I don't specify a page size, that's something that varies between documents, so I figured I could just apply that after I have created the page. The problem is, when I try to create multiple documents it doesn't work. The script will create the first document using the default page size settings and I can't get it to change the page size, but then the next document will be created using the page size I tried to apply from the previous document that the script created. I am sure this is totally a coding error somewhere else. I will try to track it down. Just when I think I have this stuff figured out . . .

  • XI Pro: How to change page size?

I have a letter-sized document where each page has extremely large margins and text in a tiny font size. Can I use the 'Remove White Margins' function (Crop pages > Set Page Boxes) to remove the large margins and then resize what remains back to 8.5" x11" using the 'Change Page Size' function?
When I try this, I can do the first step and I'm left with pages about 5.5"x8". But the Change Page Size function does not allow me to resize the page.
    It this possible?

  • How do I change page size of an existing .pdf?

I have Adobe Acrobat  XI Pro on my Mac running 10.6.
How do I resize an existing .pdf document that is 20" x 40" down to 4" x 8"?
    Thanks!
    Bob

Thank you Gilad D, Steve and Bill for your answers. Unfortunately, they don't solve my problem.
Acrobat does not have a virtual printer option for a Mac operation 10.6. The only way you can "print" to a .pdf is by opening up any application and using File -> Print -> PDF -> Save as PDF.
Any application, that is, except Acrobat.
The Acrobat print dialog box gives the user a robust number of options to manipulate the printing of a document. Sadly, there is no "print to PDF" option. When you choose "Printer" (lower left corner), you get the printer's default dialog box that gives making a PDF an option. However if you choose this, another dialog box pops up stating "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save." When you go to File > Save, it is greyed out (since you are using an existing saved PDF file). If you try Save As, you are not given the option to resize the page.
Alternatively, when you open the existing PDF file in Macintosh's Preview or Skim applications, you are given the option in the print dialog boxes to scale the image. However when you print to a PDF, the file size does not change (which is one of the driving motivations for changing the page size).
I can't believe that Adobe doesn't have an option in Acrobat to address this issue. While I appreciate the suggestions regarding InDesign (or even PhotoShop for that matter), I'd rather not drop $400 +/- for a program to solve a problem that a reasonable person would expect Acrobat to do itself.
Please... are there any other options?
    Thank you,
    Bob

  • How to set page size and bleed

    Hi all,
First of all, I am really a totally newbie for Indesign. My knowledge of Indesign is zero.
Recently my design send me a artwork but he is missing now. I need to do some modify for printing but I really got no idea what should I do.
The printing manufacturer request me to set my page as 303mm x 216mm, however my page size now is 297mm x 210mm. After that they need me to add bleed for them as well.
So any expert here could guide me step by step what should I do?
I tried myself to go "Explore" > "save" > then change the value of "page size" to 303mm x 216 mm. Then go "Marks and Bleed" > "tick "Bleed" and choose value (top:3mm, bottom:3mm, inside:3mm, outside:3mm)
However, the result come out my page size is much bigger than 320+mm and 230+mm
    Why? What should I do?

InDesign is a pretty complex application to learn on your own.
As soon as possible, acquire a good book on InDesign. My recommendation for beginners is Sandee Cohen's "InDesign QuickStart Guide." There are editions for different versions for InDesign. Less than $20.
