How to hide rows with merged cells?

I would like to know how to hide rows on numbers with merged cells, could do it normally at excel but I am not being able to do it at Numbers.

To hide a row with Merged Cells, Un-Merge first, then Hide. Select the Merged Cells and Table > Unmerge.
Note that this is only a problem with vertically merged cells when you want to Hide a Row.
If you want to Hide a Column, you can't have a Horizontal Merge that involves that Column.

move it to the right edge of the cell

How to hide rows?

Hello folks,
I just would like to know that how to hide rows except dbms_rls package? I mean, it has been said that I can hide rows to create views but lets said that I have got 200 students and each student can see only their rows in students table, in that scenerio I have to create 200 views, isn't it? I just would like to learn that how to hide rows with using views? Do you have any ideas?
Note: I know dbms_rls package, except this solution I am tryin to find onather solution.

If every student is a separate Oracle user, the USER fucntion will return the name of the current user. A view definition can reference that function, like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW view_x
AS
SELECT   *
FROM    table_x
WHERE   student_account = USER;If you logged in to Oracle as POLAT, then the view will contain only rows where student_account='POLAT'.
If you logged in to Oracle as SYSTEM, then the view will contain only rows where student_account='SYSTEM'.
If students do not have thier own Oracle accounts, then they are probably authenitcated by some procedure in your package. That procedure can set a SYS_CONTEXT variable, or write data to a global temporary table, which you can then use instead of the USER function in view definitions.
Note: I know dbms_rls package, except this solution I am tryin to find onather solution.Why can't you use dbms_rls, or why don't you want to use it? It's a very powerful tool, and not vey hard to use.
I'm not saying there's never a good reason not to use dbms_rls; I'm just asking if you have one.

If not, give a specific example of what you want. Post CREATE TABLE and INSERT statements for some sample data for all tables involved. Identify 2 or 3 different students, and show what the contents of the view should be for each student, given the same sample data. If students do not log in to Oracle with their own usernames, then explain how you know which student is currently logged in.

Help with merged cells in table

I'm just learning how to use Dreamweaver 8 and tables. I am
trying to use a table with merged cells filled with graphics --
only one graphic per cell. I make my jpg the size of my cell, which
it seems to fill. Then, when I upload it to view in browser, it
looks as though the graphic doesn't take up the entire cell. At one
point, it was working both in Dreamweaver and the browser. Now, in
the browser view, it looks as though there is extra space above the
graphic and below it. Any suggestions on what is going on???

It's not the use of tables with your graphics that is
necessarily the
problem, it's HOW you are using the tables with your
graphics. Can we see
the page you have built so we can examine the code?

Table cells - Problem with merged cells

I was experiencing very weird behavior with my tables until I realized that it was caused by merged cells
My script gives a dialog which allows the user to choose from which column to start and from which row.
As the script iterates through the cells in the selection I was getting weird results
Through using .select() function I was able to see that depending on the column, some times row 5 could be which seems to be row 3!
The reason was because of merged cells in that row
I.e., when some cells are merged together, only the first column of those merged cells is recognized - the others are not
so it comes out that when merging cells from column 3 to 5, column 3 has a cell in that row, columns 4 and 5 do not, and column 6 does!
Is there a way to get around this behavior?

I don't understand the point of your post.
If you're trying to report a problem or "bug" with Pages, that is not the purpose of this user-to-user forum. You should leave feedback for the Pages team on this page.
I've not had a problem opening Word files with tables in Pages. If you're saying Word can't handle tables with merged cells, then don't use merged cells in files you are going to export as Word. Word & Pages must handle merged table cells differently, as I know both can do that. As far as RTF, Pages can open & export as RTF. Again, if you are going to export as RTF, don't use tables. Neither of these is a fault of Pages, just limitations of the formats/programs.

How to Hide Row in table view depend on condition

Please any one suggest how to do hide some rows in table depend on condtions.
My Issue is :
I have table with binding componant context controller, with in that some rows are no need to disply in my table, I tried to delete that entities from collection wrapper in do_prepare_output. but that entites are perminatly deleted from model node.
how can achive this with out delete entities from model node and hide some rows in table view.

How to combine rows with small numbers into single "other" row?

How can I combine rows with value 6(for example) or lower to single row representing the SUM of all this values and label OTHER, so the pie chart will have a chance to display all small values combined?

When you write a decimal number, is the decimal separator a period ( . ) or a comma ( , )? If it's a comma, then the syntax error can be corrected by replacing the list separator in the formula, a comma in Jerry's formula, with a semi colon ( ; ):
=SUMIF(B; "<6"; B)
(Added): The two Bs appear in blue 'lozenges' in Jerry's image because that is the way cell (or column) references are displayed in Numbers when a formula has correct syntax.

How to implement Table with Common Cell Section

I have requirement of displaying mulltiple rows in single column cell for certain columns in each row of Table.
This has to be a read only table, with alternate design support in 7.02
The Data Source contains all the elements to display in table as seperate columns (Data1..Data7).
I have checked at Grouped Column design, its bit different from grouped column.

I don't know how to do this with WD Java Table UI element, and you could build simple html table using webwidget UI element but that is not available on 702 as far as I know, plus this case the filtering, sorting and other features have to be done also manually using your own algorithm.
Here is what I just built on 730 using WebWidgets:
I checked also the grouped column, but that worked only for the header of the column, and behaved like colspan, while what you need is probably rather like rowspan.
I know it is not a big help, maybe someone else knows how to do this with Table UI (if it is even possible).
Still, perhaps someone else is interested who is using a higher release like 730.
I created a webwidget UI element and bound to its "html" property a string context element that I called "widgethtml".
After this I added this code to the wdDoModifyView() hook method:

Hiding rows with parent cell having rowspan

hi experts,
i have a table with column 1 being the parent declared with rowspan = 2 and the next column having 2 rows. an example is below:
parent row | row 1
| row 2
i would like to hide the second row only in column 2 in such a way that the output would be as follows:
parent row | row 1
it is a bit difficult in this case as the parent row is declared having the rowspan=2 setting. does anyone know how i can hide the second row or collapse it? i am able to hide row 2 with the 'display:none' option, but since the parent is declared with a rowspan of 2, i am getting a grey line below row 1. any help would be highly appreciated!

Try to use the Table Model.
The "getValueAt" Methode decide what to Display.
So a simple "if" command can hide the complete row - or a single Statement.

I used the convertElementToTable for this.
That worked, except for the merged cells (only cells which are merged to two or three columns).
How could I script the automatic generation for merged cells?

How do I paste into merged cells?

I have created a spreadsheet that includes some merged cells. I want to paste some information into them and across other cells in that row at the same time. When I paste the information, however, the merged cells are split and the data that are intended for columns beside the merged cell are pasted in the separate columns that make up the merged cell.
In other words, my third cell is actually composed of table columns C-F. However, because it is merged, I would expect it to function as a single cell. So I copy 6 columns of information, try to paste them into 6 cells (one of which is the merged one, C-F), and instead of it pasting into cells A, B, C-F (the merged one), G, H, & I, all of the data ends up pasting into A, B, C, D, E, and F, which defeats the purpose of merging the cells entirely.
Is there a setting I can change to make this work as expected?

Interesting problem. One thing I have found that seems to work is to select and copy the data, run a script that converts the clipboard to text, select the cells to paste to (all of them, not just the one where it will start), then 'paste and match style'. The script is a simple one:
set the clipboard to (the clipboard as text)
Another option would be to use TextEdit as an intermediary. Copy, Paste & Match Style into TextEdit, Copy, then, in Numbers, select all the cells to be pasted to and Paste & Match Style.
Not great solutions but that's all I got right now.

Row with one cell in JTable

I have a JTable with multiple cells per row. However, in-between some rows, I would like to have a header row which doesn't change as I scroll horizontally. Is that possible?
