How to hide Volumes folder?

After a few issues with a file exchange application my one reminaing issue is a visible volumes folder on my main drive. Is there any way to re-hide this or any issues I should be checking?

Folder name is located in the breadcrumb
remove your breadcrumb in your collectionrenderer of the layout set you are using.
Check the layout set you are using in your KM navigational iview.

I have to hide a folder named properties and remarks in item master form?
I have tried by setting the visible property as false through sdk coding.Its working fine but when i use navigation button these above mentioned tabs appear for a moment and then disappear.
I want these to not to be visible in any of the events like navigation and find.

How can I safetly remove the contents of the hidden volumes folder?

I have 149GB of backedup data eating up my laptop's hard drive space (300GB). I want that space BACK! But I'm afraid that I'll jack up my system even worse if I go in there and start deleting files.
Here's the my story...
I tried many times (unsuccessfully) to get Time Machine to work with my external WD Mybook Mirror Edition Hard Drive. It was work initially but then fail to backup and it wouldn't even really give me a reason it would just say that it was unable to back up to the drive. So I gave up, turned time machine off and tried to drag what files had been backed-up by Time Machine from my external drive to the trash. That's where my problems multiplied.
As you may know Time Machine puts some niffy locks on the files. Even holding down the option key while dragging the files didn't seem to fix things. So after doing some poking around I found this thread on the internet which showed me how to remove the ACL associated with the backup files so that they could be removed.

I preformed the following command line on my drive:
sudo fsaclctl -p /Volumes/<yourVolume> -d
Then I dragged the backup files to the trash (using the option key) and eventually the files were deleted. At least they weren't showing up on my external drive anymore.
I thought that I was in the clear, but then yesterday I got this stupid your scratch disk is full warning while trying to use Photoshop. SO I took a peak at my local disk and discovered that I only had 45MB left on a 300GB drive. I quickly went through all of my folders in the finder looking at how much disk space they were taking up. It didn't add up. There had to be some files that the finder wasn't showing me. So did some more research online and came across this little gem:

And so I executed this command to manually perform Mac's maintenance scripts:
sudo periodic daily weekly monthly
This took a while but had no effect. A few hours later, I came across this utility on the internet:

According to OmniDiskSweeper I have 149GB of files in a hidden "Volumes" folder. After looking at the files, it's pretty clear to me that I'm looking at the backups from either Carbon Copy Clone, or Time Machine (Guessing the Later). I have CCC setup to backup to the same external drive mentioned earlier, but I stopped this process when I realized that I had more files on my local drive than I should have.
*So back to my original question. How do I nuke these freaking files without breaking anything. Thanks.*

Thank you for the response. I did as you suggested, and it worked. I had a few hiccups along the way:
1. Option + Dragging the files to the trash didn't work alone. I had to unlock the files:
$ chflags -R nouchg /myfiles
2. My external drive was mounted with a number after it. So I tried to eject it and it gave me some crap about it being in use (Even after I quit everything). So I shut my machine down, Disconnected the USB cable, Restarted and then reconnected the external drive. It now shows under volumes without the number after it.

How to delete the folder VOLUMES on the main drive?

Leopard creates a folder called Volumes on the root with aliases to external hard disks. I can delete the folder but as soon as I connect to the local network server, the folder Volumes appears again with an alias to the hard disk in the server. How do I permanently delete this folder? My Dock grid list is totally ruined by this folder. I was used to 5 folders on the root. Now it's six and I don't want that. I never had this annoying folder and I didnt do anything except for the 10.5.4 update. I also have no file or folder sharing active. The Volume folder also (re)appears when I connect an external USB disk. pls help

A problem I have with this folder is that although it is an alias, sometimes when I do file transfers (such as receiving large amounts of photographs via pando etc.), as well as downloading the file to the external drive, as I have instructed it, is stashes the same file in the "Volumes" folder, and over time it can really start to eat away at the disc space. (I only recently discovered this recently and was this able to free up about 12 GB of disk space). I am pretty sure this is abnormal behavior for this folder, but I don't have any idea where to look to find what the problem is. Any idea what might be causing this, and how I can stop it doing it? It isn't catastrophic, now that I know, because I can periodically go and clear it out, but the eroding disk space caused me lots of problems until I discovered that this is what was causing it.

OK I have to say this even though you probably realize it, having anything but mount points in the Volumes folder, especially regular files that are critical to you is really a bad bad idea.
You should do everything in your power to correct this asap.
In the meantime as to Time Machine, your profile says you are running 10.6.8 is that correct? TM has changed some since then.
Basically if you are not excluding system files from the backup the Volumes folder should be in the backup. If the regular files are in there is an other issue.
You can check by opening a Terminal window cd to your TM backup drive then into the .backup folder. Pick a backup and see if the Volumes folder is there and if the files are in it.
But again having anythgin in there is going to be a problem.

You can drag it from one place on a drive to another. If you are moving it from one drive to another then it copies it. If you are moving it on the same drive and are getting that message then not being able to move the folder is the least of your problems. Free up space immediately because your computer is about to crash and probably lose files. Then you'll have lots of space.

1) There is class called CL_CFX_FOL_UI
for Notifications, additional functions ,cancel buttons do enhancement in the method PG_FOL_DE_INIT_MAIN_GROUP delete the entries in the parameter ES_MAIN_GROUP
2) For Copy ,Copy as bookmark Enhance the method GET_FOLDER_LISTING_TABLE delete the entries in parameter EP_FOLDER_LIST .

How to supress the Volumes folder?

A few days ago I've created a new account in my Mac and from this time now a Volumes folder appears next to Users, System, Lybray and Applications folders. Now, I'm only using one only account but the Volumes folder still appears. Is there any way to supress this folder and avoid it in a new reboot?.

The /Volumes folder contains aliases to all of your mounted volumes (disks), and is normally invisible. You can reset the visible property by copying the following AppleScript into the Script Editor and running it:
tell application "System Events" to set visible of folder "Volumes" of startup disk to false
You may need to restart the Finder (or log out/in) for it to take effect.

I hid a folder using "." through terminal...how do I find it?

I left my computer with a family friend about a month ago, and before doing so I hid a folder which had pix of my wedding, work files, finance stuff etc.
I found a way to do it, involving terminal, and typing "." before the files name.
So basically, I can't remember the file name at this point. Thought it was one thing, and it's not, so is there a way for me to locate this folder?

The Downloads folder is designed as a temporary place to put files that you download from the net. Soon after you download each file you should decide to move it to its proper place if you want to keep it, or put it in the Trash if you don't. In particular, applications should be put in the Applications folder, or a folder inside Applications. If you keep your Downloads folder organized, you won't have this problem.
If you have a lot of stuff in your Downloads folder to clear out, I suggest you open the folder, view its contents as List, and sort by Kind. That will put all the applications together and make it easier to locate them in order to move them to where they belong.

The reason they gave was it is possible for the file to stay open when done with the file. (not properly closing) As the driver would be accessing the file to retrieve the thumbnail.
The thing is a driver is nothing more than a program it self. Therefore it is capable of opening and closing a file and placing the thumbnail into the database for that folder. It then would be capable to verify if the thumbnail exists in that database. Since the driver only has to run when explorer is open in that folder's view, it really is not running that often.
The catch I can see it when both Illustrator and explorer are running at the same time. Which one should close the file? The solution would be a small app that verifies that both programs are running and has control of clean up when both have closed. The driver and Illustrator could also in theory check and see if the other is running, if it is do nothing if not then close the file.
So it really boils down to having the driver and Illustrator talking to each other.
