On the Centro, go to Hotsync and press the icon in the middle of the screen.
Click on the following link for the support page for your device on the kb.palm.com webpage.
http://www.palm.com/us/support/centro/centro_att/
There are links on the page to the user guide, troubleshooting, how to's, downloads, etc.
There are cables available on-line that are the correct sync cable. Just do a Google search for the hotsync cable for Palm Centro.

  • How to hotsync a Palm TX in Virtual PC 7 (& use Medicopeia, for example)

I was able to sync the Palm TX of my wife in Virtual PC 7 & Windows XP. To do so, I enabled Virtual Switch in PC Settings so Windows would have its own IP address.
Then, I asked the Palm TX to connect through WIFI (through our home network) by giving the IP address of Windows XP (you can find it in Hotsync -> Network -> TCP/IP Settings). The connection worked the second time, @ full speed. It took almost 5 minutes to install Medicopeia on the Palm TX.
I did this manoeuvre because I could not hotsync the Palm with the usb cable... Hotsync (in Windows XP) would just not see the Palm TX, even though XP would see it. Hotsyncs seems to be looking for a COM port, and not a USB port. I could not understand why... Anyway.) All of this was done with Hotsync disabled in Mac OS X.4.

    Hi all,
I want to boot up with a USB key to install a new VM on Windows 7. I heared that Microsoft Virtual PC begins to support USB device on Windows 7. How can i configure it? I don't find any virtual USB device in VM settings on my Windows 7 box.
    Thanks for any help.

Virtual PC does not support USB.  Windows 7 XP Mode Virtual Machine supports the use of USB devices.  Virtual PC and Windows 7 XP Mode VM are not the same thing!

  • Does the Palm Centro require a data plan?

Does the Palm Centro require a data plan? I'm wanting to switch back to my Centro and I just want to make sure, before I purchase a new one, that I will not be required to pay the $29.99 a month like I do now with my Pixi. Can anyone give me a for sure, 100% positive answer on whether or not this is a discontinued phone and does not require the data plan with activation? Thank you so much!

That's exactly what I thought, but I kept finding in small subjects people saying it might require it. I thought, surely, they wouldn't. That just wouldn't be fair. Thank you so much for your answer. I really appreciate it.

  • How to charge your Palm Centro via 64-bit Windows, with a USB cable

Here is a way to recharge your Palm Centro on your 64-bit Windows computer, through a USB cable.  But first, a few brief explanatory notes...
Note 1:  I have successfully used this method to charge my Palm Centro from my 64-bit Windows 7 computer.  This method probably works for other Palm devices and other 64-bit Windows versions (XP and Vist)...  but I haven't tested this on any other configurations.  Others may feel free to post their successes or failures with their setups.
Note 2:  This method will NOT allow you to HotSync your Palm to the computer via USB.  All it does is let you charge your Palm via USB.  If you need to HotSync your Palm, and you have 64-bit Windows, you have to use Bluetooth or some other method.  To learn how to use Bluetooth to sync, search for "bluetooth sync 64-bit" or something like that on this forum.
Note 3:  If you're wondering why someone would need to use this method - why not just plug the phone into a wall outlet, right? - it's because the Centro's charging jack can get messed up.  Mine has not worked properly for the last several months
Note 4:  I will not be posting any follow-ups to this message.  This is my first (and only) post here...  I'm posting here because I am very grateful to this forum: It is here that I learned how (and why) to sync my Centro to my computer via Bluetooth, because Palm doesn't support 64-bit Windows. This is my way of saying "thank you"!  I'm not trying to be harsh by not following up...  it's just that I won't be checking this thread, and I don't want anyone to have bad feelings if they ask questions and I don't respond.  I'll be as thorough as I can in this one posting, though.
Note 5:  I cannot claim credit for actually discovering this solution.  I found it after HOURS of looking online... it was on some obscure website.  Unfortunately, I can't remember where I found the original solution, so I can't credit the discoverer here.  However, I have done my best to provide much more detailed instructions here.
Note 6:  Lastly, Palm should support 64-bit Windows.  Period.  Some of you may say, "It's not Palm's fault - the company that makes the Palm OS is Access, and it's Access's fault for not supporting 64-bit Windows."  Well, this may be true, but Access has stated that Palm has not requested a 64-bit driver.  (In fact, you can call Access and ask them directly.)  And if Palm doesn't ask (and pay) for it, Access sure isn't going to create one on its own.  I used to LOVE Palm devices...  I've used Palms for 12 years now, and for most of that time, I heartily recommended Palms to all my friends.  But, between this problem and the other problems I've had with my current Centro and my previous Treo, I'm done with Palm.  No more for me.
OK, here's how to charge your Palm (finally!)
    1)  If you haven't done so already, install the latest version of Palm Desktop / HotSync on your computer.  You can get this at palm.com, under the "support" section.  (Actually, I'm not sure if this is necessary, but I already had done this.)
    2)  As you're installing the software on your computer, toward the end of the process, do not actually sync your Palm to your computer.  Just cancel or whatever you have to do to avoid that step.  (Remember, the whole point here is that Palm does not have a driver compatible with 64-bit Windows, so you won't be able to sync via USB.)
    3)  If you don't already have it, get the PocketTunes application (also known as "pTunes") on your Palm device.  If you have to install the software, you may need to do so wirelessly or via a 32-bit Windows computer (because, again, Palm doesn't support 64-bit Windows).
    4)  Connect the Palm USB cable to your computer.  If you are using a desktop, plug into the USB ports on the BACK of your computer.  These ports are directly powered, whereas the ports on the front of your desktop may not be.  You'll want as much juice as possible to charge your Palm.
    5)  Connect the Palm USB cable to your Palm.
    6)  Turn on the Palm device, and open the PocketTunes application on your Palm.
    7)  PocketTunes will try to connect to Windows Media Player (on your desktop).  Tell your desktop to connect to Windows Media Player.  (You can save time by telling your desktop to do this automatically.)  When PocketTunes connects with Windows Media Player, you'll have a power connection via USB.
    8)  PocketTunes will eventually show that it is "Idle" on the Palm.
    9)  To confirm whether the Palm is charging, look for the charging light (on the Centro, it's on the upper left) to turn solid red.  You can also hit the home button on the Palm to see the battery / charging status.  To get the charging working, you may have to exit PocketTunes and come back into it a few times before the charging light comes on.  I have no idea why you have to do this; I just know what I wind up doing sometimes.  You don't have to unplug and replug the phone from the USB cable, or turn the phone off and on.  Just leave PocketTunes and come back to PocketTunes.
    10)  If you exit the PocketTunes application on the Palm, the Palm will still charge - but you'll get the constant and annoying "no driver" noise from Windows.  To avoid that sound, just keep the Palm on PocketTunes while you have the Palm plugged into the USB cable.
    11)  You can close Windows Media Player on the desktop once you have the Palm charging.
    12)  Once you have this set up properly, you can speed up the process by setting the HotSync cable button to PocketTunes - after all, that button no longer needs to be set up to HotSync via USB cable.
When you have everything set up, here's what you would be doing on a regular basis:
-- Plug USB cable (which is already plugged into your computer) into Palm
-- Hit HotSync button on cable --> This starts PocketTunes --> PocketTunes automatically opens Windows Media Player on the computer
-- See if charging light turns solid red --> If not, exit PocketTunes, then hit HotSync button on cable to start PocketTunes again
-- Repeat until charging light turns solid red (success!)
-- Once the Palm is charging, close Windows Media Player on desktop
Best of luck to all who need this!

Why do you want to create your own driver instead of what comes with the device? If you go that route, you need all of the low level USB RAW protocol from the vendor. Did you get that? Yoe are wasting your time if you don't have that. Is the driver from the vendor documented? If it's a USB connection, how does that connection show up in windows device manager?

  • Why does the Palm Centro save my files as .php files?

Okay so I've been trying to download files from the internet and save them on my Centro. When I click on the link to download it, it shows the file as a .doc file which is good because it's a microsoft word file. but then when I actually click "Save", the file changes to "download.php" and I can't open the .php file on my Centro. So my question is, Why does the .doc file change to the .php file? And more importantly, how can I save the .doc file without it changing to .php?

Hi.. Welcome to the Palm forums.  Any Palm device is going to convert any file saved to it to the format it needs to be able to read it.  For .doc files, word documents, you need docs to go which comes with your centro for free. Docs to go 10 is required for office 2007 and is available free for a centro, go to www.palm.com/us/support  select downloads under support & downloads then select a centro and you will see a link for bonus software on your cd.  Find docs to go, download it to your computer and install.  Then sync which will update and/or install docs to go 10 on your computer and your centro.  Once that is accomplished if you want to put a office file on you centro you open docs to go on your computer, add in the office file and sync.  After that if you update the file either on the centro or on the computer then sync both files will end up the same after the sync.

  • Palm Centro problems!

I have been having nothing but problems with this phone since I got it 1 week ago!  I can receive bluetooths but not send them.  I have had ringtones bluetoothed and they go strait into the mp3 player but I cant use them as ringtones!  The serial number is not being accepted to get my free software.  Im having problems downloading videos and etc.. Im confused and am thinking about getting rid of this thing! HELP!
    Post relates to: Centro (AT&T)

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
Your question has multiple topics, which might get lost in this single thread so I suggest you take the videos question to the Audio, Video and Photos board and post specific questions there, describing what you are trying to do and exactly what happens.
As DTfromBH has pointed out, there is a lengthy thread about Ringtones in that same board.
"Bluetooth" is a radio system for connecting two devices...it's not a "thing" you send back and forth.  When you say you can "receive bluetooths but not send them", what I infer from that is that you can receive files via Bluetooth but not send them...correct?  What kinds of files are you trying to send?  Exactly what happens when you try?

  • How to solve the wifi dropping problem on Att UVerse.

Today with aid from others on the forums and help from apple I figured out how to stop the problem where your iPad will drop wifi while your using it.
    Wat was wrong before:
While surfing the web my wifi would disconnect, and I would have to go to settings>wifi and turn It off and then back on, this would happen every two to three minutes.
YouTube videos would load very fast and about half way would stop and need to buffer.
When streaming pandora, it would only be be able to play one song, before needing to restart the Internet.
    My router:
    I have a homeportal 3000 router through AT&T
    http://www.convergedigest.com/images/articles/v12n140-2wire.jpg
First you will need to know your account password for Uverse.
On the side of the router it will tell you system password, key, and Mac ID, at the top it will say for more info visit and there will be a number separated by some periods.
Go to that link, (on either your iPad or any computer)
When you get there you should see the name of your router and how it's performing.
At the top there will be four tabs, click on settings.
Six more tabs will pop up below the two tabs, click LAN.
Below the six tabs, another six tabs will appear, click wireless.
    Scroll down and find security.
Under authentication type, change it to "WPA2-PSK (AES)"
Scroll down to the bottom and click save, it should then ask you for your password. NOTE: this is your uverse password, not the password on your router.
There should be a green box that says you were successful.
I've been going five hours now and havn't had one disconnect.
    Thanks and hope this helps.

Thanks, this has been driving me crazy on both my MacBook and iPhone. It was dropping my wifi every few seconds! Changed the Authentication Type to WPA2-PSK (AES) and wow! It's been at least 2 entire minutes without dropping!

  • How to fix the "MIME types" problem  !

    Hello !
How to fix the problem of "MIME types", Windows doesn't want to keep the APPS by default !!!
When I try the application by default (for ex. right clic on .PSD files and "open with"), then I validates the selection program (Photoshop.exe), it does not appear in the selection of programs by default in windows!
Result, even dynamic objects no longer open in my applications and all adobe files icon don't appear in explorer
    Thx

    I find a solution who works for me (Win7 64bit) !
Use a Registry cleaner (ccleaner) and kill old file format entry !
Now restart association with a .AI file, because the way to .exe is in another place like other apps !
    Try this:
First, right click on your illustrator apps icon (desktop or Start menu) and choose "open the file location" and copy the dir ("C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2014\Support Files\Contents\Windows" for me )
Right clic on your .AI file and select "Open with", now click on "browse" to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC 2014\Support Files\Contents\Windows" for 64bit system.
"Windows" say "you've got problem with registry file association" the correction's automaticatly and the illustrator icon appear in the list of default apps.
    Select and valid him
Now, do the same for all your "unknown files type" with the good apps !

  • How many with the wifi (greyed) problem

    Hallo users,
Since I have updated my iphone 3g 16 Gb to the ios 4.2.1 I experienced the well known problem of the WiFi button greyed out
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559
In details after (almost two weeks) I have updated the operating system i cannot find any longer the WiFi networks around me and then the grey message no Wifi networks appeared in the settings folder. The Wifi address is no longer present (N/A is the field indication) and the battery duration decreases faster than before this problem occurred.
I have tried all of the suggested solutions:
    - Reset the network settings
    - Reset the device
    - Restore the software
    - Restore as a new phone
    - Restore froma back up
    - Recovery mode then restore
    - Downgrade to the IOS 3.1.3
Then i called the Apple Store clsed to my place and the "supervisor" fixed me an appoinment in the Genius Bar where I had to check with the employee if the problem was software-based or hardware-based.
In the Genius bar, the Genius Employee just discussed with me about the several problem an iphone can have without checking at all the device with some diagnostic device as I expected. He just sentenced: "It is an hardware problem".
Since the warranty is expired I was asked to pay 150 euro for a new (refurbished) device 90 days warrantied, same type, same model.
My questione were: How long will last the device that you are proposing? Do you expect I pay once more 150 euro after 90 days if this problem occurr once more?
    No answer.
I left the Genius bar and the Genius without paying anything and with my decive.
Now I'm asking myself and you:
    - Since this problem is well known by Apple, why there is no adeguate support?
    - This problem is caused by the IOS change. Why should I pay for a fault of the IOS developers?
    -  I was told: You have been unlucky. Sorry..
HOW MANY UNLUCKY PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH IPHONE 3G, 3GS,4, 4S, IPAD?
    APPLE CANNOT IGNORE US!!

Thanks, this has been driving me crazy on both my MacBook and iPhone. It was dropping my wifi every few seconds! Changed the Authentication Type to WPA2-PSK (AES) and wow! It's been at least 2 entire minutes without dropping!

  • How to solve the image display problem in the iTunes Store

    Hi guys!
I just want to give a work-around for all of you having the image display problem in the iTunes Store. In my case only the square images in the slider sections won't load:
I had this in my last W7-installation and got it again in W8 after the first few weeks.
There are a lot of reports about this problem out there and adhoc solutions like 'clear the cache' or 'reinstall and drink ice tea' that do not work. It is obviously a file request error. It is all about finding out which server addresses get blocked by your computer.
Solution: Go to your firewall and your Anti-virus-program. There must be a whitelist option. In Kaspersky, check the web-options, the banner-options and the firewall-options, because the all have whitelists. The following addresses have to be whitelisted:
    *.apple
    *.mzstatic.apple.com.akadns.net
    *.mzstatic.com.edgesuite.net
    *.da1.akamai.net
    *.itunes.apple.com
    se.itunes.apple.com
    upp.itunes.apple.com
    ax.init.itunes.apple.com
    xp.apple.com
    *.mzstatic.com
    client-api.itunes.apple.com
    www.apple.com.edgekey.net
    www.isg-apple.com.akadns.net
Press Ctrl + R in the iTunes Shop then and browse throught the music sections. All images should be displayed correctly now.
If not, there might be more Apple servers involved in your case. You can find them by running a DNS sniffing tool like the DNS query sniffer by Nirsoft or Wireshark.

Phone restarting randomly could be loose battery. Tighten by putting a small strip of electrical tape on the back edge.
THE BITTERNESS OF POOR QUALITY, LINGERS LONG AFTER THE CHEAPNESS OF PRICE, IS SOON FORGOTTEN.
