How to I add text on top of image? I am using pages version 5.2.2

I am working on an apple desk top OSX version 10.9.4. Since the new pages version 5.2.2 came out, I have been unable to add text on top of an image. Can anyone help me? Thanks ahead of time.

Pages v5 is not as flexible as Pages ’09 v4.3. If you want text over a free-standing image in your document, then you will need to place it in a Text Box, Shape, or other custom container created with the Unite, Intersect, Subtract, or Exclude items in the Arrange panel. Simply selecting the image and then, in the Arrange tab, stating move with text; setting wrap to none, and clicking back/ward — does not help.
You will need one of the containers from the second sentence positioned on top of your image. Once your text is input and styled, select the Text Box and the image, then from the Arrange tab, select group to maintain your text/image spatial relationship. If you need the image and its text container to adapt to other text in your document, you can enable the wrap functionality that best suits your document goals.
This can get interesting, because you can independently define the selected Text Box content as a text placeholder, and the image as a media placeholder. Save it as a template. When you open a new document with this template, you can drag and drop a new image onto the old one, and it is automatically scaled and replaced without effecting the Text Box content. You can then double-click the Text Box content and change it.

  • How do I add text to an image?

    I have purchased a template and imported it to Photoshop. I then sliced the template into sections, saved it for web and opened the index file in dreamweaver. My questions is, how do I add text to the images? I want to add the text content, within the boxes on the template, but because they are exported as images from Photshop I can't seem to do it...So let's say there is a box in the middle of the template and I want it to say, Services at the top and below that have a little information about the services offered with a "read more" button at the bottom. I have exported the template out of photoshop with text added and with the boxes empty. I tried to add the text in dreamweaver but couldn't. When I export the sliced template out of photoshop with the text already included, it does show up in Dreamweaver, however it is not in html and I would like it to be for SEO purposes. Forgive me if this question is silly or already answered, I have looked everywhere and couldn't find the answer.
    Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

    Hi,
    I prefer to use tables for that. For example (First of all you have to store this new file):
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
    <head>
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
    <title>AddedText</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <table width="40%" border="4">
      <tr>
        <td>Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text </td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td align="center" valign="top"><div align="center"><img src="yourPicture.jpg" alt="image 01" width="127" height="33" /></div></td>
      </tr>
      <tr>
        <td>Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text Text </td>
      </tr>
    </table>
    </body>
    </html>
    Here I took a table with only one column, you can modify my choice.
    There is so too a possibility to use a complete flow text around a picture. If you like that, please give me a shout.
    About the story "hotspots" look here where I tried to give an answer a short while ago: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2700306#2700306

  • How do I add text to a photo when making a calendar from iPhoto?  I see the text box for the dates but not for the actual photo...thanks.

    I can't find a way to add text to a photo once it's been put into the top pane of the calendar month...is there a way to do this since I'd like to add a descriptor to the photos?  I see the text box when you click on the calendar date, but don't find one for the photo pane.  Thanks for any assistance.

    Right - you can not add text to photos with iPhoto - you must use an external editor

  • How do i add text to my photos?

    How do i add text to my photos - previously you could do this on iphoto

    Many users find the excellent and highly-recommended BorderFX more than meets their needs.
    A couple of things to note:
    - "Photos" misleads us into an understanding of what we manipulate with our computers that differs from what our computers are programmed to manipulate.  Within Aperture, you have Images (called, imho confusingly, also Versions and also Photos); outside of Aperture you have image-format files that you see listed in the Finder and use in other programs.  BorderFX lets you overlay text and watermarks, and add borders, to Images in Aperture.  When you do this, a new file is created and automatically imported (it becomes a new Original).  You can also export via BorderFX, in which case a file based on your Image and the changes you've set in BorderFX is saved to the location (outside of Aperture) that you specify.
    - Adding text to an Image is a _graphics_ operation, and not a _digital camera file_ operation:  it is outside the remit of Aperture, which hews to being a photographer's non-destructive RAW digital camera file storage and development workspace.  You use Aperture to store, organize, and develop (make as good as possible for a particular use) digital camera files.  When you need a new graphics file, you (generally) export your Image from Aperture, and create new graphics files using a graphics program (e.g.: Photoshop, Pixelmator, GIMP, etc.).  Graphics programs are built from the ground up as compositors.  Aperture does almost no compositing.  BorderFX is a slick, purpose-driven compositing plug-in.

    How do I add text to individual slides in a slideshow in order to make a caption on each slide?

    It will depend on the theme you are using for the slide show.
    For some themes you can add custom text or metadata to the slide as captions, for example the "Classic" theme.  Use the "Selected Slides" tab and enable "Text".

  • How can i add text to photo in iphoto?

    How can I add text to photo in iphoto without having lion or mtn lion?

    You can't add text to a Photo in iPhoto. You need an external editor for that:
    In order of price here are some suggestions:
    Seashore (free)
    The Gimp (free)
    Graphic Coverter ($45 approx)
    Acorn ($50 approx)
    Pixelmator ($50 approx)
    Photoshop Elements ($75 approx)
    There are many, many other options. Search on MacUpdate. You can set Photoshop (or any image editor) as an external editor in iPhoto. (Preferences -> General -> Edit Photo: Choose from the Drop Down Menu.) This way, when you double click a pic to edit in iPhoto it will open automatically in Photoshop or your Image Editor, and when you save it it's sent back to iPhoto automatically. This is the only way that edits made in another application will be displayed in iPhoto.

    How do I add text boxes that people can edit font type, size, and color in Adobe Reader? I am using Acrobat Pro XI.

    It is possible. Add your text fields and in their Properties set them to have Rich Text Contents (under Options). This will allow the users to specify all kinds of formatting settings for those fields (by pressing Ctrl+E and using the Properties bar).

    Is there a way in iPhoto to add text directly to a photo being edited?  With my old PC I was able to add text with Microsoft dicital image suite software.  Thanks.........Allen

    Adding text to a photo is not a feature of iPhoto.
    You can do it with
    Preview - already on your machine
    BorderFX - a free plug-in. (http://www.iborderfx.com/iborderfx/)
    or an external editor.

  • How do I add the word "DRAFT" as a watermark on a Pages document?

    How do I add the word "DRAFT" as a watermark on a Pages document?
    I don't want to create an image - I just want to type in the word and have it appear across every page.

    Jean,
    This assumes that you are working in Word Processing Mode.
    o Insert a Text Box on your first page.
    o Type "Draft" in the text box.
    o Select the word "Draft" and on the Format Bar select 144 pt. font size.
    o Enlarge the text box to fit the text and drag it to the center of the page.
    o Select the text again and click on the Color Well on the Format Bar.
    o Drag the Opacity Slider on the color palette to 50% or so, making the text look like a watermark.
    o Then From the Pages Menu, select Format > Advanced > Move Object to Section Master.
    The word DRAFT will now appear on each page of the section. If you have multiple sections, you will have to paste the text box into each Section and move it to the Master layer.
    Hope this does it for you.
    Jerry
