How to I get an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD?
I have made a slideshow for my brother's memorial service. I have exported it out of iPhoto (.mov file). I cannot seem to get it into iDVD correctly to get to my final product which is a DVD that will play on a "regular" DVD player at the funeral home. Please help! It has taken a lot of time to get this slideshow done and I need to get the DVD ASAP! I have an OSX 10.8.2.
Export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar. Select Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If you have iDVD already installed on your Mac ignore the following:
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com. Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides themes from iDVD 5-7. The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

how do I burn an iphoto slideshow onto a DVD? and a blueraycompatable DVD?
Export the slideshow from iPhoto, that makes a movie of it.
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
Other options:
Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate
As for Bluray you'll need an app (and a burner) that can create that format.

How do I get an iPhoto slideshow onto DVD?
I've done photo slideshows before, but tried this one in iPhoto and now can't get to a DVD. Should I use iDVD or iMovie? Thanks!
There are two ways to create a slideshow and get it into an iDVD project: 1 - create the slideshow in iPhoto's slidesahow mode and use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option. This creates a Quictime movie and imports it into iDVD; 2 -put the photos you want to be in the slideshow into an album, select them and use the Share ➙ iDVD menu option. This imports the photos into an iDVD slideshow. There you assign a transition, add the music playlist, finish up the iDVD project and burn.
So If you have the photos in iPhoto you can recreate the slideshows in one of those two ways and get them into iDVD. This would be far superior to ripping your current DVD to get the slideshow movies out of it. -
The program is doing great on computer but cutting the slideshow in half on the dvd.
After you get this fixed.

Burning an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD
How can I burn an iPhoto slideshow onto a DVD? I have created a slideshow with music but cannot determine how to burn it to a DVD. I've tried to use iDVD but cannot figure it out. I need very basic instructions, please.
Thank you!Depends on information you do not supply - but burn a slide show to DVD export it to the desktop as a QuickTime movie and the using the finder burn it to dial - it can be played on any device that can play QuickTime
To play on a DVD player it must be authored which requires iDVD or other authoring software like Toast - neither involves iPhoto - there is a iDVD forum and Toast has a support forum

Putting iphoto slideshow onto a DVD
I saved my iphoto slideshow to Quick Time Player, but when I try to send it to imovie I get the message "imovie has not been setup". Is there another way to put a iphoto slideshow onto a DVD without having to do the whole thing over on imovie?

How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?
How can I make an iPhoto slideshow into a DVD in Lion?
If you MacBook Pro came with Lion preinstalled then you will not have a copy of iDVD. That's because iDVD and iWeb have been discontinued by Apple and is not longer being included in iLife.
You can purchase a copy from Amazon.com: iLive 11.
If you do have Lion this post will self destruct in 10, 9, 8... seconds and you can follow Terence's directionsl
As for iDVD the following is a recommended workflow to follow;

To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

How do I get an iphoto slideshow into mobile me?
How do I get an iPhoto slide show (complete with audio, etc) published to my MobileMe?
Import the movie into iPhoto and then create a MMe gallery in iPhoto with the movie in it.
However, you have a greater versatility in the MMe gallery coming from iMovie. You can have multiple versions/sizes of the same movie that will fit a greater variety of internet connection speeds.
This is an example: iMovie to MMe

HT4528 How do I get my videos off onto a DVD
I am trying to figure out how to get my videos onto a DVD. I did get them onto one but why can't I view these videos on my Playstation3?
Home movies right? Ones taken by iPhone I assume??
Once you've put the video file on your Mac or PC you need software to convert that file to a readable DVD file and then burn software to burn it to the DVD... If you burned just a straight .mov file to a DVD I'm not sure PS3 has the codec to play that, however, if you burn as a DVD format with Video and Auido TS folders... it plays fine...
What steps have you tried. -
How can I get 20 different movies onto one dvd and have them play consecutively?
I am having a hard time converting all of the videos I've taken of my kids from my iphone onto a dvd. I would like the videos to play consecutively as if we were watching home movies from our regular video recorder. How can I convert my videos to one dvd?
If the total playing time for all of the videos is less than 120 minutes create a slideshow in iDVD and add the movies to it in the order you want them to play. Select any slide duration time except manual. Do not add any music to the slideshow as it will override the audio in the video files and do not add any transition as it won't be a smooth transition.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

How do I get 30GB of video onto a DVD?
I recently had an event filmed on an HD video camera. It is about 6 hours of footage total. I cut it down to about 4 hours in iMovie and exported it using QuickTime H.264. The output file is 30GB. What steps would I take to get this burned onto a DVD to share with friends and family?
The footage was captured at an engagement party and as such, I can't really reduce it lower than 4 hours. What options do I have?Shaq Bee wrote:
... What options do I have?
• in the list of Projects, ctrl-click on your Project
• choose 'duplicate'
• erase in #1 the second half
• erase in #2 the first half
burn to two DVDs, part #1 and part #2
iDVD supports a max. length of 120min content.
iDVD supports double-layer DVDs (=240min), but some DVD-standalone players don't 'like' such disks.
keep in mind: in theory, there's no min. bitrate on DVDs, so, with other tools, you could squeeze 10h onto a 4.7GBs DVD-r .... but a too-high compressed DVD is no fun to watch, too much artifacts.
and, who's watching 4h at a single piece?
I'm pretty sure, a 20min best-of, short clips, good music, lots of stills, master-piece comes better across than a 'real time documentation' ...

How do I get my iPhoto slideshow into iWeb
I made a slideshow in iPhoto, set to music, and I want to get it into iWeb. I see options in iPhoto "help" for exporting photos and photo albums, but not for exporting slideshows, unless I want to export to iDVD. Is this a necessary intermediate step? Thanks!
iMac Mac OS X (10.3.9)Hi CrannieM,
Select the slideshow in the source column and go to File>export
choose the size...smallest is the best for the web.
Caveats to this:
if the slideshow contains a lot of photos and transitions and music it will be a large size.
if you used songs purchased from the ITMS others will be asked for your password in order to hear the music. (I think you will even get a message on exporting now that the music will not be heard by others or something to that extent. In order to use purchased music you have to do some work arounds first.
Once you get your Quicktime movie, drag it into the movie template in iWeb.
