For iBooks try downloading the current version on your computer's iTunes so that the app is in your purchase history. Then on your iPad go to the Purchased tab in the App Store app and see if you can download an older compatible version of it.
You can also try similar for the Kindle app - I don't know whether Amazon have made older versions of their app available in the store, so it may not work for that. Assuming that you mean that you can't connect to the iTunes Store ....
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.

I don't understand how you could have used it even once without doing this process (unless whoever sold the iPad and keyboard to you did this for you?) but perhaps it has somehow become unpaired. There should be instructions with the bluetooth keyboard on how to pair it with an iOS device like your iPad, but the general process is pretty straightforward as described here:

Drying out a phone does not mean the circuitry inside the phone was not damaged by the water. There could be shorts, etc which may prevent the phone from working correctly or at all.
I would suggest re-activating your old phone if you have one. Another option would be to try to borrow an old phone from a friend/relative until you are able to upgrade.

How do I get rid of App Store notification for a software update that does not conform to the OS that I am using?

I am using Snow Leopard and have no wish to upgrade to Lion. App Store notification indicates that there is an iPhoto 11 update available. When I try to update, the error message indicates that I need Lion to download the update. The notification red circle with the one in it sits attached to the App Store icon and will not go away.
I know that Apple knows that I'm on Snow Leopard, so why bother sending me and update notification that is irrelevant to me.
Any solutions to getting rid of the red circle on the App Store icon?

How do I get a navigation app to work through my bluetooth?

I have a new iPhone 4S and want to use a Navigation App to help me find my way around. If the Mapquest is running and the radio is on, I can't hear the directions. The only way I could get it to work is to turn Siri on so the nav plays through the car's bluetooth but then you can make a call us use the phone for anything else. Am I missing something here?

Unless it has changed, I read that XP didn't have as good wireless networking as Windows 7. And even that takes a couple tweaks usually to get it right (strength, range, power settings).

Another way is for your patrons to download the latest Kindle app on to their computer. On the iPad it should appear in the App Store under 'Purchased". Once selected it will state that it is incompatible and an older version is available.
