How to I go about getting more memory for my computor?

My mac keeps telling me that i have no memory left on my disk drive or something like that. I was wondering what would ultimatley help solve this probelm?

Removing files you no longer need from your personal data or installing a larger hard drive.
Sometimes these errors may occur even though the drive is not full. These are caused by some sort of corruption on the drive, usually to the directory structure. Try repairing your drive:
Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger and Leopard.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer. Now restart normally.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior (4.0 for Tiger, and 4.1 for Leopard) and/or TechTool Pro (4.6.1 for Leopard) to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
Also, select the drive icon on your Desktop then press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info window. Near the top will be information on the drive's capacity, amount of space used, and space available. If you have space available that's less than 10 GBs, then your drive is too full. Removing any of your personal files you no longer need will help to free up some space. If you have third-party applications installed you don't use then you can delete them as well. If you still have the Trial versions of iWorks, Microsoft Office, and Quicken that you don't use then you can also remove them.
Ultimately, however, the only way to get a permanent increase in storage space is to install a bigger hard drive.

  • How do I get more memory for my Macbook Pro Spring 2010 13-inch with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo?

How do I get more memory for my Macbook Pro spring 2010 13-inch with 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Apple says no memory currently available for that model. I have 4 GB memory and 3.99 used. Help!

Now I'm confused. This is the one Crucial told me to get:
    CT3309356 - 4GB DDR3 PC3-8500 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V 512Meg x 64
    $45.99
Also what do you mean that actual memory is 16GB but with Apple it's 8?
When I go to the "About this Mac" it says Memory 4G 1067 MHz DDR3, then when I go to System Report it says
     Memory Slot
    Bank 0/ DIMM0 2G DDR3 1067 MHZ OK
    Bank 1/ DIMM0 2G DDR3 1067 MHZ OK
Sorry I'm clueless. Just don't want to buy something that messes up my machine more than it already is.
The Crucial site appears to have recommended the correct spec 4gB RAM stick for your model. Please note that you will need to remove the existing sticks of RAM to install new, so you will need 2x4gB to get to 8gB.
When your model of computer was designed/built, it was tested with readily available 2x4gB (8gB). After release RAM retailers have tested it with higher amounts, and Apple didn't update their quoted specs.

I use my mac book to dj. however, i tend to get the beach ball alot. is this due to lack of memory or is it something else. ive been thinking about getting more memory but i am not sure what the issue is...i would like some advice before i go and buy more memory if it is not needed... i also do not keep my music on my lap top

Okay, so we've eliminated the lack of space since you have plenty.
See the screenshot from my Mac here:
Page ins and page outs - post those (or just post the same type of screenshot). If you have a lot of those, that means that your machine needs to keep swapping RAM around to make the best of what is available which can result in slow responses.
Also post the total amount of RAM you have (in my case, I have 12 GB)
You free RAM of 221 MB is very, very low - I'm guessing you only have a total of 2 GB. If that is the case, I would absolutely max out the machine (if you don't know how much RAM you can put in, post your model number here so we can help with that).

If the page that you postted from doesn't help then you will need to try contacting iTunes support (you will need to give them as much of the serial number and activation code from the card as you can read) : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then iTunes Cards And Codes

  • How do I go about buying more memory?

I need more memory to update my phone and iPad. How do I go about that?

The iPhone and iPad memory and storage cannot be changed after manufacture.  You have to remove content from the devices, things such as videos and photos and music, that take a lot of storage space and save them to a computer to free up storage space.

  • How do I go about getting a replacement for my earbuds at the apple store?

I just got my iPhone 6 and when I went to listen to my music my earbuds was not working in the left ear. I tried with my macbook pro and the problem was still there. I was told once before that my earbuds will be covered by the warranty, now I want to know how to go about getting them replaced?

Bring them into the store.  Bring the phone along too.  That's all you need to do.

  • How do i get more memory for my macbook pro?

I've been getting messages that my start up disk is almost full.  What should I do?

you can first delete cache files and log files and see how much you have left.
try downloading CCleaner from the appstore and install it and run it....See how much disk space you have left after the clean up.
There are a lot more powerful disk cleaners out there.  But for basic cleaning, the is one of the good ones.
    good luck....
Note: if that doesn't help, then you might have to get a new hard drive for your MB.  You can get that here:

  • Getting messages "startup disk is full" and activity monitor is showing "syslog d" is using a lot of CPU.  I'm planning on getting more memory for my late 2008 model Macbook but wondering if there's something that is causing problems that I can also fix.

I had closed out of all of my programs but heard the internal fans running so I checked the activity monitor.  It shows syslog d as the top process using the CPU right now.  I have no idea what that means.
I read a thread about the startup disk being full and how you can free up memory.  I have an airport extreme so TimeCapsule is backing up everything.  I do have a bunch of pictures on iPhoto on the laptop;  could move those to another location but I'm a little gunshy.  I know they are on the TimeCapsule but I would like to save them to a second place before deleting from laptop just to be sure.  I went through several things yesterday and emptied trash, etc.  I wasn't able to locate the hidden files that the thread about the startup disk being full was referencing --- they were talking about large emails that were causing processes to happen taking up the CPU.... I wasn't able to find out if that was the case for me.
Also I'm going to look into getting another 2MB of memory and installing it on the Macbook, so I can upgrade to the latest OS.  Anyone have an idea if that is worth the $$$ over buying a new laptop?  Or anyone have ideas as to where to buy memory, etc.
    Any ideas - help!

  • Can i get more memory as i only have 1 gb as my mac is 4 year old

can i get more memory for my mac pro as its only 1gb 10.6.8 version

you want to ask in the macbook pro forum I assume.
regardless, yes you can and the model year (2008?) or MacBook Pro X,Y (number)
www.macsales.com/memory is a good place to check what is available.
I thought 2GB was req'd and 4GB would be strongly recommended for 10.6 and above.

how do i get more memory on my mac book air? is says that i can add 2 more gig ??? or wat files can i delete

Macbook Air memory is soldered to the logicboard.
You can only get 4GB or 8GB (2012 Models) in the Air when you order it that way.  Otherwise, you're stuck with 2GB.
Unless you're talking about hard drive space - then it is upgradeable - click HERE to see which one corresponds to your model.

Depends on the Mac; what model and processor is it?

    In the first section (hardware overview) post this info;
Nothing below that is reqd, especially not the serial number.

  • How do i get more memory installed on my macbook air

How do i get more memory installed on my macbook air

If you are referring to RAM, the Air's RAM is not an upgradeable component. The RAM memory is soldered to the main board, and there are no expansion slots.
It is the price Air owners pay for miniaturization. Every Air is manufactured with all the memory it will ever have. Shop wisely.
It is technically possible to upgrade the SSD storage though, but will probably void any warranty.

How come although iPads are getting more powerful, the iOS apps from apple are so mediocre and just not that great? We spend all this money for the latest ipad and all we get is these $5 video and music apps from apple. Why create the iOS platform and only offer so so apps like IMovie and GarageBand ? While other developers are offering much better apps like pinnacle studio for video, Cubasis and Auria for music production, apple has not showed much growth in terms of innovation. While there's nothing wrong with making an app like GarageBand where "anyone " can make a song, how about something for real musicians or an app not so basic as it get for video editing? After spending 0ver $700 on an ipad I'd be willing to spend more than $5 for a better video or audio app.

First, try a system reset although I can't give you any confidence.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

how the heck do i get more ring tones on my phone i purchase them and they go into my music but not ring tones any one no how i can put more on my ringtones plz n ty

Make sure your own music files are saved in the proper folder (Digital sounds) whether in your memory card or the phone memory, the location should still be:
    Sound Clips > Digital Sounds.
If your songs/mp3s are saved anywhere else, it will not show up as a selectable ringing tone.
You can move your songs through File Manager on your phone if they are in the wrong location (Options > Move to folder).
Hope that clarifies it for you.
