  • How do I import a word doc into address book

I have word doc with address labels, I want to import that into address book, how would I do that? If word can't do that I can also open it in Pages. Thank you.

The way to import datas in AddressBook is not what this forum is dedicated to.
    Please go to
    MacOS X 10.5 > Mail and AddressBook
    or
    MacOS X 10.4 > Mail and AddressBook
A quick search in AddressBook Help with the wonderful keyword "Import" teach us that AddressBook is able to import from:
    vCard ;
    format LDIF ;
    TAB delimited file ;
    CSV (comma-separated values)file.
So, it appears that the first thing to do would be to save your Word document as a TAB delimited file or as a CSV one.

  • How do i import and sync my icloud / iphone contacts into address book on my macbook pro, how do i import and sync my icloud / iphone contacts into address book on my macbook pro

    HELP
how do i import and sync my icloud / iphone contacts into address book on my macbook pro, how do i import and sync my icloud / iphone contacts into address book on my macbook pro
Runnig 10.6.8 on a MacBook PRO.....

The easiest fix if you're running Snow Leopard is to export all your contacts, then import them into something like google (I already had a gmail account), and then just use google to sync your contacts instead of icloud (via the sync with Google button in the address book settings).
Its a bit sluggish to update, but it works well.  You can then point your iphone, and other iOS devices to use google for contacts too.
If Apple don't want to look after their customers, other companies will gladly do so....

  • I am switching over from a PC to a MacBook Pro and an iPad.  How do I import my Outlook contacts into MacBook and iPad?

I am switching over from a PC to a MacBook Pro and an iPad.  How do I import my Outlook contacts into MacBook and iPad?

One option is forwarding your Outlook contacts as vCard files which can be imported by the Address Book on your Mac, followed by being synced with your iPad.
In Outlook, select all contacts and at the menu bar select forward as vCard. Each contact will be a separate vCard file. Send the email to an email account you are accessing with the Mail app on your Mac.
Save the attached vCard files in a folder created on your Desktop or in whichever chosen location for the folder. At the Address Book menu bar, go to File and select Import navigating to the folder that incudes the vCard files. Open the folder to select.

  • Microsoft messenger contacts to address book

    Hi everybody,
I am trying to figure out a way to export my microsoft messenger contacts to address book. Everything I tried with .csv files did not import in address book (address book says it is not a valid file). Is there a way to export these contacts to vcards, which should import into address book? Or, is there any other way to do this? All the help is greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!

Edit the csv file in Excel or Numbers (or even TextEdtit) and make sure there isn't any problems with the file. Address Book can import a csv.

  • Can someone help me import perfect csv spreadsheet into address book?

I have spent almost two years perfecting my excel spreadsheet with columns exactly matching the fields in address book, and saved as a CSV. When I try to import up comes a two-column list, fine up until column 8, where it suddenly starts saying "do not import" and "ignore" and "in use". I fiddle for hours but don't know what it means. Experiments lead to fields in the wrong places. I have read a whole correspondence about this, but solutions too complex for me.

    Anything here help?

  • Using O2M I imported my contacts into Address Book. However upon exiting the contacts are not saved. This is on a new Macbook Pro Lion OS. How does one save the newly imported contacts?

Using the program O2M I successfully imported emails from Outlook 2003 to Mail, and calendar events to iCal. However, repeated attempts to import contacts to Address Book have failed. The contacts appear to import, but when I close Address Book and reopen it, the contacts are gone. I tried File-Save, but Save is greyed out. This is a new Macbook Pro with the latest Lion OS. I wonder if O2M has not been updated to work with Lion. Or is there something I am overlooking in the import process?

Hi Denisej and others who have encountered the same problem,
I tried your work around. Unfortunately it did not work out for me because in my contacts there are an unknown number that still "refused" to be imported like that. When such a contact was in the group I selected for import the whole lot would be lost again after re-opening Address Book. Finally that meant that I had to import each contact one-by-one, each time with the need to close down Address Book. A job to go nuts and end up with a mouse injury. So I decided to use the Migration Assistant that Lion now offers
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3284404
together with Windows Migration Assitant on my old PC. Obviously both Mac and PC have to be on the same network. For this I did not need to do anything special. Both make use of the same router and that is apparently sufficient. When migrating the contacts Lion creates a new account, so you need to log in to that new account to see your migrated contacts. I used the Export Address Book Archive function in the Address Book menu to copy the lot to my own Apple account. I got rid of the new account and I was finally where I wanted to be in the first place.

  • Import .txt (from Excel) into Address book not happening

I am attempting to import a .txt file (exported from an Excel file) containing 5000 contacts with email and phone details. In the Import dialogue I can map the columns to the Address Book properties. When I press OK the button stays blue (highlighted) for a few seconds but no import occurs. Not even the card being previewed.
What am I missing here? (Bit urgent too)

I had the same problem. I saved as tab-delimited in excel, closed it but upon import, address book would hang (spinning wheel or no response). So, I reopened the .txt file in Numbers instead, got rid of any strange lines, saved again as .txt. Then, I imported it into Address book and it was fine.
To see whether it had to do with Numbers or Excel, I reopened the .txt file in Excel also, did the editing out of strange lines/cells again, and imported into address book again without problems.
Seems like a really dumb hack, but it worked for me. I had 62 entries (address book always stalled at 5).

  • How can I delete all my contacts in Address Book?

I had syncing issues between my Entourage 2008 contacts, my Address Book contacts, and the PowerMac for Blackberry application. As a reference, I have around 5,000 contacts. I have solved the issue, but there is some collateral damage: read on.
Address Book duplicated my contacts two or three times, and it also created around 60,000 empty contacts. I have been able to clean the Entourage contacts, which only suffered from duplication but not from new empty entries.
I tried to delete the Address Book duplicate and empty entries. The easy way out, I thought, was to Select All and delete. It does not work. Given I have ended with around 80,000 contacts, after I Select All, and try to delete, the program hangs, and I have to Force Quit the Address Book application.
I tried to locate the Address Book file where contacts are stored, but I have not found an obvious name that would point to it, nor have I read anything about such file in the different discussion forums. So no success on this.
I have even used scripts in the past for deleting duplicates and merging contacts in Entourage, but I have not found one for Address Book that could take care of the massive number of empty entries with "No Name".
So, is there a way to delete all my contacts in Address Book?

There are two possibilities you can try:
    1. Delete all your duplicate entries. You can try downloading and running this Applescript Remove Duplicates, which will create a group named Duplicates in Address Book, from which you should be able to delete those entries, by selecting the Group, then in the next column to the Right, select all the entries and choose Delete Cards from the Edit menu.
    2. If that doesn't work, you can do this:
    1. Quit Address Book if it's running.
    2. Go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook and delete an of these files/folders you find there:
    • ABPerson.skIndex
    • ABPerson.skIndexInverted
    • Address Book - xxxxx.abbu
    • AddressBook.data
    • AddressBook.data.beforesave
    • AddressBook.data.previous
    • Images
    • LastImport.plist
    3. Restart Address Book and see if the default cards are there (Apple card, and your Me card) and if all seems to be working correctly.

  • How can I import Apple/Pages typescript into inDesign Book design?

How can I import typscript created in Apple/Pages into inDesign book layout?

    @annsymes – other than copy/paste?
If you inspect the preferences for the Clipboard in InDesign you could toggle between formatted text or non-formatted text when pasting from different applications. Don't know, if that will make a difference in your case.

  • Importing text file databases into address book

I have a large csv formatted (all that easily allowed by my exporting database) that I want to import into addressbook. By the instructions this should work and so I diligently configured the "Text file import" screen to align the fields as they should be imported - and the sample entries shown in that window look and are configured exactly as they should be. However, when I click on the OK button in the "Text file import" window, I could not tell if it was importing one item or the thousands. But when I look at the address book it indicates that it imported all thousands of contacts. THE PROBLEM is that in the address book (which was previously essentially empty) the only items listed under "Names" is "No Name" (a huge number of them) and each one has NO other fields filled in. So it appears that nothing is importing despite that the Text file import screen shows everything set up correctly. Thoughts/help?

My problem is the same as Roderick. Text File Import reads my file and shows me the data that it will import. I dilligently assign all of the appropriate columns and press "OK"...Nothing happens. Any ideas?

  • How can I copy a mailing list into address book without having to type them individualy

    Hi
I have a mailing list and I would like to send emails to everyone on the list in one go, I copied and pasted the list into my email, but can I have this group somewhere so that I can just call it up like an ordinary address from the address book, preferably without having to type every name individualy into the address book. I tried making a group in the address book and pasting the list in without success,if this is possible can some explain how I can acheive this
    Thankyou
    Richard

    Richard,
Unfortunately, you have to add them one at a time - wait a sec... oh, yeah, if the contact is in your contact list it will 'auto-fill' as you begin to type. So if I want Wendy Whatshername, all I have to do is type Wen and the contacts will show up for you to select and auto-fill the name and email address.
    Hope this helps,
    Clinton

  • Is there an easy way to import entourage email groups into address book?

I don't want to import the contacts individually, but as group. Any assistance would be appreciated. Entourage 2004 and address book is 4.1

First go to the avid site and download the avid codecs for the mac. Not sure if they'll have compatible codecs for such an old version, but worth a shot. then do a test export from the avid. It would probably be smart to convert the clips using compressor to match your fcp sequence settings. Not sure if the timecode would come across. You could note the timecode of the first frame on the avid and then modify the clip once imported into fcp. Test your workflow before doing a lot of work.
You might also check if automatic duck's got something that would work.

  • How do I import existing contract with just "Address Book" folder?

I did a clean install of Leopard, and now my Tiger backup is unbootable. I do have access to the files, though. I need to get my contacts from my address book from my Tiger backup. I can't seem to get the Leopard Address Book to recognize any contacts from the old ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder on my backup.
How do I accomplish getting my old contacts to my new install?

I figured it out. I took the ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder from my old Tiger backup and placed that in my new Leopard /Library/Application Support/ while temporarily renaming the original. Opening up Address Book from there then opened up my old contacts. I then did an export.
After that, I deleted the old ~/Library/Application Support/Address Book/ folder from my Tiger backup I put in my Leopard system, and restored my original Leopard /Address Book/ folder.
Then, I just imported the export I did from the old data.
    Tada.....it worked.

  • How do I import a numbers file to address book?

I am trying to import a numbers file to my address book on the mac.  Please advise

in Numbers 2.3, you would Drag a contact to a blank Numbers Sheet, creating a table with the proper format for going in the other direction. Fill in the data and Export to CSV. Import that CSV file from the Contacts File menu.
In Numbers 3.0, I can't think of a way because it is no longer possible to drag a contact into the Numbers app.
