Looking up your camera online, I found it is capable of 1920 x 1080 Full HD 60p Recording. It's the 60p (60 frames per second Progressive) that's the problem I think. iMovie '11 will do 60i (Interlaced). You might need to convert it from the format the camera currently uses into another format to get it into iMovie. Read more about it on this link here: How to import 60p footage From that message thread comes the recommendation to use ClipWrap to convert the camera's video clips now that they are in 60p:

Use ClipWrap to rewrap to QuickTime. Import the files. Edit in either 59.94 or 29.97. The latter if you want to use the high frame rate for slomo

  • How can I import an old iMovie from '09 to '11?

PLEASE! I've been trying FOREVER to try to get this imovie project that I was working on to import to my new updates iMovie application because my school reimages our computers every year so I saved it to a harddrive but when I tried to open it, it just came up as a picture or it just doesnt open in iMovie or it wont let me select it when I go to file-import-movie!!!!!!!!!
PLEASE I beg for a solution!!

An iMovie Project needs the associated Event (or Events) to be workable. The Project file doesn't contain the actual video clips as such, but references (points to) the clips in the Events Library. So, if the two become separated, problems will arise with the links between them. Whenever moving or copying Events or Projects to another hard drive, this must be done from within iMovie, not from the Finder - otherwise links will be lost. iMovie Help provides comprehensive instructions on this.
If you saved just the Project to the external hard drive, that may explain why it can no longer be opened by iMovie '11. Does your school keep a back-up of all the data before re-imaging? That may be the only way of restoring the Event, but I'm not sure how you would then go about re-connecting the Event with your Project. Usually the Event has to be placed back in the same location that the Project expects to find it - that's now problematic.
Perhaps AppleMan1958 (the top participant here) can help, as he has a strong knowledge of this type of problem.
Sorry I can't help further Ellie.

  • How do I import movies into Imovie from my HTC sensation?

I have an HTC sensation.  am trying to use I-movie for the first time.  My flip videos are all good, but the movies that i emailed to myself from my android are not compatible with i-movie (even though they are .mov files).  is there a program that can transfer them so they are usable in imovie?

    Did you try the
Menu Bar -> File -> Import -> Movies
command in iMovie?  From the dialog box, locate and select the movie (or movies) you want to import.

  • How do I import an unfinalized iMovie from iDVD back to iMovie so that I can finalize it?

Some more details: I created a few iMovie's and a few of them I never finalized, I just burned to iDVD.  I had to make space off of my computer so I deleted them, but I made backup copies on DVD for myself.  How can I re-import the DVD so that I can finalize and save it once and for all?  Do I need to put the file in iPhoto?  When I try to browse out to a copy of the file on an external harddrive or to the DVD, the project is greyed out and cannot be selected.

All of the data resides in the Domain.sites folder found in
    HD/Users/Your user name/Library/Application Support/iWeb
Copy that file to the other machine and you can edit (assuming you have iWeb installed on it) your pages.
Copy that file back to your other machine (it the exact location) and confirm to "replace" the older version so your file is identical to the "Published" version.

You can do this with a free app called MPEG Streamclip and a $20 quicktime component from Apple.

  • Trouble importing video into iMovie from External HD

I have video from my Panasonic Full HD camera.  I have already transferred the video off the camera and onto an external hard drive.  When I try to import the video into iMovie those files are grayed out.  Does anyone have any idea how to make this work?
It is all my video of my son's first year since birth!

It is very important that when you transferred the video off the camera, you kept all files and folders from the camera. If you did, you can open iMovie and use FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA ARCHIVE and navigate to the folder that contains the contents that you removed from the camera.
In the future, open iMovie and use FILE/IMPORT FROM CAMERA. This will bring up an import screen. There you can click a button that says Create Camera Archive. This will automatically get you all the files you need off the camera, and it gives you a good backup.
You can also import directly into iMovie from this screen.
If you did not preserve the contents of the camera - for example, you just copied the .mts files, but did not copy the rest of the files and folders, you will need a third party app to convert the .mts files so that iMovie can read them. Two apps that people use for this are ClipWrap and Voltaic HD. They are pricey, but if you did not copy the full camera contents, this may be your best bet.

  • How can I import an m4v movie from my desktop to my event Library in iMovie?

How can I import an m4v movie from my desktop to my event Library in iMovie?  I want to include the m4v movie into another project in iMovie.

When you import DV Stream from tape, iMovie 11 will assume that you are importing raw footage from a camera, rather than a finished movie. It will create a new clip everytime it detects a scene break (the record start/stop button was pressed). These clips will be placed in chronolgical order - not the order they were on the tape.
One way around this is to import the tape into the application that you used to create it. For example, if you used iMovie 6, import the tape back into imovie 6. In iMovie 6, you can export the tape back out using FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME. Choose the DV codec in an MOV container.  You can then import this MOV file into iMovie 11 and have everything in the proper order for your finished movie.
Another option is to use FInal Cut Pro X.

  • How do I import DVD to IMovie? What is the best way to import DVD to a Mac?

    Hi everyone!
I need some help, so here are my questions.
How do I import DVD to IMovie? What is the best way to import DVDs to a Mac?
I would like to keep the original quality from the DVD.
    Thx.

You need to convert the VOB files in the TS-Folder of the DVD back to DV which iMovie is designed to handle. For that you need mpegStreamclip:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/mpegstreamclip.html
which is free, but you must also have the  Apple mpeg2 plugin :
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    which is a mere $20.
Another possibility is to use DVDxDV:
    http://www.dvdxdv.com/NewFolderLookSite/Products/DVDxDV.overview.htm
    which costs $25.
For the benefit of others who may read this thread:
Obviously the foregoing only applies to DVDs you have made yourself, or other home-made DVDs that have been given to you. It will NOT work on copy-protected commercial DVDs, which in any case would be illegal.

  • How can I Import 2 channel audio from a Sony PMW300 camera?

How can I Import 2 channel audio from a Sony PMW300 camera?

    Terry Woolf
    Thanks for the reply.
The link to your prior thread is
    Audio
I suspect that the issue of no audio for your .mp4 file goes to your conversion method MXF to .mp4.
Please excuse if I am saying what you already know. When you import your video into Premiere Elements (in your case 12 Mac), a project
preset is established, either by you manually or the project automatically. That project preset contains a description of the project settings
for audio as well as video. Unless you select one of the project presets which are described for use with 5.1 channel, your audio in video audio
imports into a stereo project. It is in the export area that you will find your opportunity to customize (if necessary) the settings for audio.
In the project, if applicable to your situation, you can duplicate an audio channel (See Fill Left or Fill Right under fx Effects/Audio Effects).
Please let me ask this to make sure of the details.
If you import your .mp4 with 2 channel audio (derived from your .mxf convert and dragged to Video Track 1/Audio Track 1) and cannot hear the sound....
    a. do you see any evidence for an audio file in the Timeline Audio track 1?
    b. if you do, how many wave forms do you see, one or two?
    c. if you have the audio meters opened while you are playing back the Timeline content in Edit area, do you see 1 or 2 channels and is
    there activity in both.
    d. when you import the file into Project Assets, do you observe any conforming activity going on in progress bar in the lower right cover of the workspace...if
so, do you wait for it to go to completion before continuing on?
We could also try deleting the conformed audio in the Media Cache Files Folder to force the program to re-conform the audio. See Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks should show you the location of the Media Cache Files Folder whose contents you will be deleting.
Please review and consider, and then let me know if I targeted your question. If not, please do not hesitate to let me know, and I will rethink my reply based
    on your response.
    Thank you.
