Why are you not using For loop???

also shld read the text line by line
You can right click the 'Read from Text File' function and select 'Read Lines'. Refer to below code snippet.

    Hello All,
    I have a need to package a text file into a Jar Exectable file and then have my java code read that text file in using a BufferedReader. Can anyone out there tell me how to do this? My first question is how do I reference this file by the path name? O, I'm also using Windows.

  • Read multiple text files and sort them

    I am trying to read multiple text files and store the data from the file in vector.
    but for days. I am with no luck. anyone can help me out with it? any idea of how to sort them will be appreciated.
    Below is part of the code I implemented.

  • How to scan/ read a text file, pick up only lines you wanted.

    I'm new to Labview, I trying to wire a VI which can read a text file
    example below:
    Example: My Text File:
    1 abcd
    2 efgh
    8 aaaa
    1 uuuu
    and pick out only any line which start with number 1 (i.e 1 abcd)
    then output these 2 lines out to a a new text file?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    How do you creat your text files? Depending on the programm, there is added characters in the beginning and at the and of the file. So here you will find a VI to creat "raw" text files.
    To debug your VIs, use the probs and breakpoints, so you can solve the problem by your self or give an more accurate description of it.
    There is also the VI that read a integer and two strings  (%d %s %s)

    What I wanna do is to read all the data above and buffer them in a queue for each user( there are only 10 users in total).
    I already created a class called Class packet:
    public class packet {
        private int timestamp;
        private int user_id;
        private int packet_id;
        private int packet_seqno;
        private int packet_size;
        /** Creates a new instance of packet */
        public packet(int timestamp,int user_id, int packet_id,int packet_seqno, int packet_size)
            this.timestamp = timestamp;
            this.user_id=user_id;
            this.packet_id=packet_id;
            this.packet_seqno=packet_seqno;
            this.packet_size=packet_size;
    }then I wanna to create another Class called Class user which I can create a queue for each user (10 users in total) to store type packet information. the queue for each user will be in the order by timestamp.
    any idea and sample code will be appreciated.

    Doesn't sound too hard to me. Your class User (the convention says to capitalize class names) will have an ArrayList or Vector in it to represent the queue, and a method to store a Packet object into the List. An array or ArrayList or Vector will hold the 10 user objects. You will find the right user object from packet.user_id and call the method.
    Please try to write some code yourself. You won't learn anything from having someone else write it for you. Look at sample code using ArrayList and Vector, there's plenty out there. Post in the forum again if your code turns out not to behave.

  • How can I read only text files in a directory.

    I've written a program to read files in a directory but I'd like for it to only read the text files of that directory.
    import java.io.*;
    public class Data {
      public static void main(String[] args) throws IOException {
      String target_dir = "C:\\files";
      File dir = new File(target_dir);
      File[] files = dir.listFiles();
      for (File textfiles : files) {
      if (textfiles.isFile()) {
      BufferedReader inputStream = null;
      try {
      inputStream = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(textfiles));
      String line;
      while ((line = inputStream.readLine()) != null) {
      System.out.println(line);
      } finally {
      if (inputStream != null) {
      inputStream.close();

    You have mentioned you want to read only text files.
    If you are referring to some specific set of extentions, you can filter based on that.
    ex: you want to read only .txt files, you can add an if condition as below :
              if(textfiles.getName().endsWith(".txt")) {
                  // Add your code here

    I haven't looked closely, but my spidey sense tingles at this:
    new FileOutputStream(MPath)This will clobber (erase) the previous contents of the file. Open in append mode:
    new FileOutputStream(MPath, true)Of course, if the file exists before you run this code, you will end up append to the original contents. If that is not wanted, consider using File's delete method first.

    Hi mate, thanks for the suggestion.  I saw that section in the user guide - but it is only for copying from one library to another - I want to copy from an FCP library to a file structure OUTSIDE FCP.  I have had problems with FCP losing media when copying to another library so I just want the files in the Finder where I can see them...

  • Read multiple text files

    Hi everyone out there,
    I would like to know how to read multiple files from same directory, but files hve different name, using java. Any help is appreciate, need asap..
    Thnx,

    I want to process all the files that are in the
    folder. Okay. This is the critical piece of information that you hadn't provided previously.
    And you saying using loop? how do you propose
    using loop for this?There are two different tasks: Identifying all the files, and processing each of them.
    You definitely need a loop for processing them. That's what loops are for--doing the same thing multiple times.
    You might or might not use a loop to identify the files.
    I see two main possible approaches:
    1) Provide the list of files as command line args when you start the VM, using your command shell's wildcard/globbing: java MyClass * Then inside your code: public static void main(String[] args) {
        for (int ix = 0; ix < args.length; ix++) {
            String fileName = args[ix];
            // process it
    } 2) Provide your class with the name of the directory you want to process (for instance as a command line arg). Create a java.io.File instance that corresponds to that directory. File has methods that list the files inside a diretory. Use that to get a list of the files, and run through that list.

  • How do I read a text file line by line and store to array

    I have a text file, I want to be able to store each line of the file in an array, how would I go about doing this? code example? tutorial? Thank you

    Well, you got the pseudo code:
    a) read line
    b) add to array
    So whats the problem? What don't you know how to do?
    What does your text book tell you about reading files. I'm sure it has an example, every book I've read does.
    By the way I would use an ArrayList to store each line of text, that way you don't need to know in advance.

    Attachments are saved in your downloads folder:

    Here is what I have so far. What I am trying to do is to display the text file as a string and then strip the "curve" from the text file. I think I did this successfully. Now I want to convert the remaining string into an array of floating point numbers, and display the numbers into an array and on a waveform graph.

  • How can I read a text file inside the .xsjs?

    I need to read line by line of a text file just like FileReader and BufferedReader in Java. It contains a script SQL to insert data in my DB. Can I use some API?

    There is no API that allows you to access the file system of the server in XSJS. You would need to upload the file from the client side and it will appear as a array buffer in the request object.  From there you can convert the array buffer to a string and process however you like.
    For example:
      var content = "";
        content = $.request.body.asArrayBuffer();
        var array = new Uint8Array(content);
        var encodedString = String.fromCharCode.apply(null,array),
             decodedString = decodeURIComponent(escape(encodedString));
            content = decodedString;
        var lines = content.split(/\r\n|\n/);

  • How can I combine multiple text files into a single, alphabetized list?

    I have many, many lists of song titles. Each in its own textedit file. There is tons of overlap and duplication. I want to make a master list that has every song listed.
    If I could somehow just merge them all and alphabetize the lines, I could manually get rid of duplicates fairly easily.
    I have Tiger. Don't know if I have any application that would help. I probably don't want to buy an application, though, because I suspect I may not be able to stick with Tiger much longer.
    I appreciate any tips you can give me.
