I just separated audio from an imovie clip, and now need to slice the audio in various places and and place back into the video. HOW DO I TRIM AUDIO in imovie 11. The old imovie was easy, I can't seem to find out how. Thanks.

There are several ways to do this.
First go to iMovie/Preferences and make sure the Advanced Tools are enabled.
The simplest way would be to select the frames of video in the Event that contain your audio and drag to the project. Drop it on the approximate frame (in the project) where you want it to start. A pop-up menu will appear: choose Audio Only.

I wish to extend the music track further but need to cut it off at a certain point. I tried just adding the 2nd music track under the first but when I 'drop' the track it doesn't show up anywhere. you have to drag the music-clip onto a video-clip - then, iM will add it automatically upon/under the other ones ...

How do you record audio in imovie?

i'm trying to use the internal mic to record audio with video at the same time. like a youtube type video... everytime i record the video is fine but there is no sound whatsoever even though when i click the voice over button my voice registers.

ok, so maybe the problem is that imovie does not do what i want. can audio and video be recorded at the same time? i want to play and sing and have a video and audio recording; not a video of me playing and singing and then have to record a voice over of me playing and singing as well. that's just silly extra work...and i'd have to sing and play it exactly the same like i'm a voice over actor. which i'm not.

I would use 16:9 for aspect ratio.

How do I lock Audio clip at playhead in iMovie

Hi,
I have been using iMovie HD for years. Great program. Finally had to move on to iMovie 10. What a total disaster that is. I have a myriad of issues with it, as does everyone else, but right now I am trying to figure out how to lock an audio clip at the playhead, as one essentially needs to be able to do for even pretty simple home movie edits. Am I being stupid or has this functionality been entirely removed by some genius Apple programmer? Why do I get the feeling that what used to be a brilliant and intuitive piece of software has been completely eviscerated to the point of uselessness?

No, it's not been removed. You just need to drag your audio clip to the right place.
In your case, you want to drag it directly to the timeline and not to the background music well below the timeline.

You can use some third party software to copy the music from your old iPod back to computer first, and then import the music into iTunes and re-sync them to yournew iPod. Here is a guide about how to transfer iPod music to computer. Hope it helps. Feel free to email me if you need further help.

How do I move audio in an Imovie Video?

I'm trying to make an Imove video. I filmed the footage in Photobooth, and then imported it into Imovie. There was a delay of the sound in Photobooth, but I thought it was nothing. So I get to Imovie, and there was a delay once again. I don't know how to get the audio to be heard when I move my mouth. It seems like there is a very simple answer to this problem, yet I can't seem to find it. Any help is appreciated!

one

if you want them as duplicated, do this:
duplicatedmovie=[the duplicate movieclip code]
duplicatedmovie.drop=1
and in the movieclip that you are duplicating, add this:

The speak recorder on the iphone is ok to record audio. But how do I get those recordings into imovie on iphone? Its the latest imovie (2.0?) on iOS7 on iphone 5.

What I hope to do is to get audio recording fra the that speach recorder app that comes with iOS. The recordings can only be exported through mail, messages and dropped with Airdrop.
Hmm maybe with itunes in some way.
I would like to use speach recorder and then import that audio into imovie, not the audio effects that are with imovie.

How do you extend audio out on iMovie 09? I am working on a music video and I would love to have the track laid out and just add on clips where I want them. All I get is the small green box that says the song name and doesn't even play the music unless you add a video, then it cuts off at the end of the video.

One way is to use the Beat Marker feature.
Put down the audio track and assign beat markers. Then add clips to the neat markers.

I have a cut between two clips. I add a :15 transition default to audio/video. How can I trim the audio duration back to :05 leaving the video at :15 without first having to unlink (option/L) the two.

Actually, no. If you Unlink the audio & video (Option/L) on the first & second track, then the transitions can be adjusted individually. Both timing and position. Once they are right - relink (Option/L) again.
Weird, but I often use the default transition I have and then go thru this whole workaround to fine tune fade-ups or shift the centers of the two transitions. I just thought that there was a simpler step.

See this Tutorial for how audio works in iMovie. In general, you drag the left or right edge of your audio clip.
You can also use the Clip Trimmer. Click the Gear icon in the music track and select the Clip Trimmer.

So ... is what you're asking how to leave the audio untouched and remove part of a clip, tightening up the follow-on clip?
If so ... simply "lock" the video track with the little lock icon on the left end of each track and do what you want to the video tracks.

Trimming background song iMovie, simple question...

Guys, I've looked and can't really find an answer to this. For some reason I can't figure it out.
I have a number of still images in my iMovie that I am editing for a wedding video. I have added a song to the images, basically like a music video that I am editing to fit the music.
My problem is, I can't seam to figure out how to end or trim/cut the 1st song and then, add a 2nd song and begin the 2nd segment from there.
I have arranged my viewer so it looks like a timeline from start to finish.
Any help on this would be appreciated, I'm sure it's really simple I just don't see it.

There are several ways to do this. It depends on how you added the music. If you add the music as a background track, you would click on the gear wheel at the top left of the background track to open the Clip Trimmer and you can trim it there.
If you added the music as a track by dropping it on the video clip (or photo) where you wanted it to start, it should show up as a ribbon beneath the timeline, rather than as a solid background. In this case, you can also trim using the clip trimmer, but you can also drag the right edge of the music track to the left and accomplish the same thing.
