How to I type on a path in PSE 11?

I am able to draw my design...it is a simple line.  I know the X is where you start and the O is where you end. I am unable to move the O.  I use a Mac.  I hold down the Command key and try to move it but a large box only comes up to change the proportions of my line.  What am I doing wrong.  I can't find any videos on this even on You tube.  Thanks Jean

That can be a little tricky to do with the type tool, so you might try the Shape Selection Tool instead.
Sometimes that box with the green checkmark and cancel button or transform corner handles get in the way when using the type tool.
Make sure the type layer active in the layers panel and then select the Shape Selection Tool
(grouped with the shape tools in the tool options bar)
Then when you hover the Shape Selection Tool over the beginning X or ending O you'll see the cursor change to an I-beam with an arrow pointing in the direction to move the text and then just click and drag.

  • I can't work out how to get type on a path in two directions.

    Hello All
I am wanting to put type around a circle in two directions like this.
However to get this far I've had to create two separate paths as shown. is there a way to put it on a single path?  The reason obviously being so I can resize and get it looking right in one operation...

You still have to adjust the type itself separately but grouping sure makes it a lot easier for sizing.  I didn't think of it because I was struggling to put them on a single path, the usual trees & wood situation!
No, you don't. Re-read my post. You can use the sacle tool or Proportionally scale the group with the selection tool by holding Ctrl/Cmd + shift whle you drag a sizing handle.

  • Create type on a path (circle)

Does anyone knows how to create type on a path (circle) so the first line of text flows on the top and the second line on the bottom?

  • How do you type multiple lines on a path? (label for top slope of bottle)

Ill describe the best I can...
I am making a label that will wrap around the top half of a bottle, the part that slopes to the spout.  Because of this, the label is actually shaped more like an arch so when it goes onto the bottle, it will look more straight.  The top part of the label of course will be a tighter arch than the bottom half.  This is part of why its hard to make things look right.  I know I can bend a line at the same angle and type on it and it looks right but I have a paragragh I have to do this with, about 5 lines worth.  I dont want to have to make a different path line for each one because that would be a nightmare to get each line perfect with each other.  Is there a way to do the "type on a path" to work with multiple lines at once?

    Scott Falkner wrote:
You can't. Each line of text requires an explicit path. You could draw the top line and the bottom line, then make a three-step blend between the two. Expand the blend then link the paths so that text from path 1 flows to path 2, and so on. In the example below each path is linked to the one below. I only needed to paste text into the top path. I was able to link to each following path by clicking on the red + at the end of the previous path, then clicking on the path below.
You could also design the label flat and use a distortion envelope or Warp effect to bend it. This is how I have done such labels in the past. That method requires more experimentation, but makes edits easier.
That seems to be something that might work out.  How do you separate each of the strokes from the blend to make them typable though?

  • How to get type-on-path to wrap an object?

I have a created a spiral path and added type to it. This spiral circles a planet-like object. This object is not completely circular, therefore overlaps some of the spiral. I would like the type on the spiral to wrap these protrusions.
Has anyone come across this issue and resolved it??
    Thank you!
Here is the project. And I have tried the usual way of applying a text wrap (object > text wrap > make). The type on path doesn't seem to recognize the text wrap.

Text Wrap only works on area type, not on point type nor type on a path. You'll have to simulate it by inserting spaces, tabs, of invisble characters.

  • How do I see the full path in Yosemite's spotlight?

How do I see the full path in Yosemite's spotlight? (cmd shows only partial path)
Seeing the full path would make work much easier finding my articles which I have put in distinct catalogues.

    CazooMAC,
Holding ( Command ) to show the path of a file that is displayed at the bottom of the preview pane in Spotlight is the only way to display the path in the Spotlight app its self.
If you hold ( Command ) and double click the item you are looking to get a path of it will open that items containing folder in Finder. From there you can get the full path using a bunch of different methods. An Example would be using Finders Get Info option. The Keyboard shortcut is ( Command ) ( I ).
There is another thread that covers the topic of getting a clean path in Finder. Or basically a path that one doesn't have to type out manually, without those little arrows in between folders. It can be found here: How to get a clean file path in OS X Yosemite?
My Suggestion to get a clean path there is as follows:
Another way you can get the path, and yes I'm aware its cumbersome, is you can open the "Go to Folder" window and drag your folder or file into it and it will give you the path. Free of modifiers and without opening another application.
I find it works best if when you start there is no Finder windows open. If you leave one open you just have to open another one as it doesn't let you drag and drop from the one with the "Go to Folder" window in it.
Finder has to be Active > Select Go ( Menubar ) > Go to Folder...
    Or you can use the keyboard shortcut ( Command ) ( Shift ) ( G )
At this point I like to clear out the address field as if there is anything in there it will stay.
Next Open a new Finder window.
Examples on how to: Select File > New Window, or the keyboard shortcut ( Command ) ( N )
Find the File or Folder your interested in then drag and drop it in the Address Field of the "Go to Folder" window and it will give you the path.
If you would like to send Apple feedback about this you can do so here: https://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
    Hope that helps,
    Weston

It would be helpfull if you actually created an <img> tag to start with
    <img src="{image/@src}" />
    would work.

  • InDesign Type on a Path tool not available in toolbar

My InDesign 6 does not have a Type on a Path tool. The type tool icon in the tool bar does not have a fly-out option where I should be able to find it. I'm pretty sure it was there at one time. Any suggestions on how to restore this?

Thanks for the help. Using the Cleaner Tool and then reinstalling worked.
I must say though. Although I wanted to just clean the Indesign app. I ended up having to clean the entire CS.
I tried using the Enterprise Clean Tool to just select Indesign, but had trouble following the directions on entering code into Terminal.
It would be more user friendly if when you open the Cleaner Tool app it would then ask you what App(s) you want to clean.

  • Trying to type on a path (CS5) and get small circle with plus sign???

I am trying for the first time to type on a path that I have made. I go to the type tool, type one letter which never appears...but the small circle with a plus sign inside it appears right at that spot on the path. Would love to know what is happening...and how I resolve it. Have googled and searched my books to no avail!

I had been doing what you suggested...but in going back this morning to try it again, I discovered that the box for centered text was selected from an earlier project...and obviously that doesn't work on a path!
    Thank you.

  • Type on a path, object flipped?

I flipped an object horizontally. Now, I need to apply type on a path to the object, but when I do so the type also appears flipped, even though the type was applied AFTER I flipped the object. How can I get the type to read correctly?

    Good Lord!
    I didn't notice that!
What's even more frustrating is if you draw another object, group the two, choose clear transformations, the transformations are cleared, but the type is still backward.

  • Type on a path and pattern brush

    Hi,
As an exercise I'm recreating the logo for the Seattle Mariners. I've got it except for two things and would really appreciate help with:
1.) The type "Mariners" sloping downward in an arc. I was able to get the Seattle part using type on a path on a circle and typing on top. Question is, can I also type Mariners on the bottom of that path? I recall that not being the case. Am I supposed to draw another circle over the one that Seattle is typed on and then on that one type on the bottom? Regardless, please explain how to do it?
2.) For the stitching, am I supposed to create one stitch and then create a brush, draw a curve and then apply the brush to that curve? How do I space them out that way? If not, please explain.
    Thanks!

Presently I am able to get the path upto the application directory and from that I am concatinationg web-inf/profiles/username .
But it is giving problems when it is deployed under unix or linux.Because web-inf there it treats as WEB_INF
SO I want to get the path of web-inf directory with out hard coding.
    Thanku

    String path = application.getRealPath("/WEB-INF/profiles/username");
Note sure why you need this, but you don't need the real path to read the file - you can get an InputStream using the relative path. See ServletContext getResource() and getResourceAsStream().

You could just try changing your Input Sources under System Preferences>Language & Text:
But I kind of doubt that's going to work. It may be a hardware problem or a system problem. If you take it into Apple they might be able to determine which and might advise a reinstallation of System software. I would take it to an Apple Store or an AASP but, first, make sure that you have a backup just in case they suggest a clean install of the system.
    Good luck,

ust for a reference cause i'm new in JSP This has nothing to do with JSP, but with basic knowledge of an essential API. I have given you the link to the File API. Are you saying that you refused to read the API documentation, which clearly explains you how to use the File and shows which methods are all available to you undereach the straightforward getName() method, and expecting that the others may chew the answers for you?
