Click on iTunes Match to turn it off. (Mine is shown already off.)
Click on Turn On Genius to turn it on.
Quit iTunes.
When you re-open it, iTunes Match should be turned off, and iTunes Genius should be turned on.
(You can return to the iTunes Store setting and check it.)

How can 2 family members who share an iTunes library both use iTunes match?

My wife and I both share an iTunes library on the same Macbook and both sync our phones to that computer. We each have our own Apple ID and we use a 3rd account for iCloud for Photostream. In ios5 we were able to both access the music library on our iPhones via iTunes match while signed in under our unique IDs. Now, it will only let one ID access the music on the phones. I have an Imac (Mountain Lion) with two users sharing an Itunes account (Ver 11). We each have iphones syncing to the computer (and to icloud separatly). I have just activated Itunes match on the IMac and on both phones. I just bought a new MacBookPro and have activated Itunes match on it so I am sharing Itunes. Now, I want to move one of the iphones to the new MacBook and have it backing up to that computer instead of the Imac. How should I proceed with synching the phone with the new computer? How about the photos on the iphone? Will they just load into the iphoto library on my new MacBook Pro.
Also, can I still synch the phones manually and move over playlist from Itunes to the phone? I am assuming that when you turn off itunes match on the phone those playlists will be active. I want to make sure that say, when I am on a plane or have no wifi or cell, that I can still use the phone as an Ipod. With Itunes match you are streaming and always need a signal. There has to be a way to retain the simple music player functionality, right?

I recently sold my Mac Air to a friend, he wants to use iTunes Match, but it says he can't for another 40 days because it was attached to my account. How can I get that turned off so that he can use his account and turn on iTunes match.

You either have an incredibly complex computer setup or I think you are confusing terminology here. If you have iTunes set to share your library with others in your iTunes preferences then other computers in the area will see it as an item when they are running their iTunes and have it set to check for shared libraries. Your husband is probably seeing this when running iTunes on his computer. You can disable this sharing on your computer and/or he can set his not to pick up shared libraries.
By the way, an iTunes account is something you log into when you want to buy something from Apple. On your computer it is simply your iTunes collection or your iTunes application. So you need to turn off sharing in your iTunes application preferences.
Your husband is seeing "his" iTunes collection when running iTunes, but it is possible he doesn't have anything in it if it is a brand new computer.

You have to be in a country to use its store - you will need to be in the US and have a US billing address on your account to be able to use the US store (that applies to buying and redownloading).
You can use iTunes Match in South Africa, do you not have a backup copy of all of your US iTunes purchases so that you can subscribe to it and upload those that aren't in the South African store to it ?

Before I got iTunes Match, I had selected a whole bunch of music from my iTunes to sync onto my iPhone using my USB cable.
Now I've signed up for iTunes Match and none of that music is on my iPhone anymore except by streaming.
How do I get those tunes and podcasts back on my iPhone so I can listen to them when streaming is not available (like downstairs in my gym where there's no signal) WHILE ALSO being able to access the other non-sync'd tunes if I want whenever I've got a good signal.

You don't really have to download each one.
If you put the songs that you want to in a playlist you can have your iOS device download all the songs automatically rather than you having to do them one by one. And as you add more songs to this playlist you can periodically have your iOS device download the new ones. It actually works very well. The only downside, albeit a small one, is that it won't automatically download the new additions to your playlists.
This is exctly what I do for my workout playlist. I populated it, downloaded all the songs in one shot by clicking the DOWNLOAD ALL button on that playlist on my iPhone, and then as I add songs to that playlist in iTunes I'll go back to the iOS device and download those individual songs.

I forgot to mention that she has a PC at her house that she also syncs to. Would this cause a problem. I am already getting that pop up saying that the iPod is synced to another library (even though she is signed in with her Apple ID to iTunes) and gives the pop up to Cancel, Erase & Sync, or Transfer Purchases. My question arose because she clicked on "Erase & Sync" by mistake when she plugged the iPod to her PC the first time. When the iPod was purchased and setup, it was synced to my PC first. When she went home, she hooked it up to her PC and then she erased it by accident. I was able to restore all the missing stuff yesterday using my PC. However, even after doing that it still told me the next time I hooked it up last night that the iPod was currently synced with a different library. Hopefully, you can help me understand all this. You need to look for your itunes library under Computers and select it, then music.
Music column is for web based content not local content, just to confuse everyone.

Iphone are meant to be sync to one itunes library only.
You can copy those songs to a cd and then put a copy to your itunes media library.

Since the upgrade I have not been able to connect to iTunes Match on my iPad and support doesn't seem to know how to fix it either. My desk top , laptop, and iPhone seems to be working fine though.

It is easy to set things straight here - using iTunes on the computer, sign-in to iTunes Store, select your account and look at 'manage devices' under iTunes in the Cloud - either:
a. The device in question is listed as managed by your account, or
b. The device is not listed.
If (b) ask the owner of the alternate Apple Id to check in their account.
Do be very careful since Apple only allow a device to be re-assigned to an alternate Apple Id after 90 days!

How do I use iTunes Match to restore my iTunes library?

I tried to move my entire iTunes library to an external hard drive in order to free up space on my laptop's hard drive. I followed a step-by-step guide on doing this. The process didn't go to plan though and now I'm in a situation where a good two thirds of my iTunes library is unaccessable. It has an exclamation mark next to the individual tracks. The music isn't on the external drive and it seems to have corrupted somehow on the laptop hard drive.
I subscribe to iTunes Match and that is up to date.
Is it possible to delete my iTunes as it exists right now and then reinstall it using iTunes Match to reestablish my iTunes library as it should be?

The issue is not related to the external drive. iTunes Match has difficulties matching tracks ripped fom CDs because they may differ slightly from the versions on sale in iTunes. You can try the match again. Otherwise do a search of this forum. There are already many discussions on this subject here that may help you.

I don't know if you've already solved it yourself, but I had this problem too. Try signing out of iTunes Store under 'Settings', then signing back in with JUST your iTunes user name, with no '.mac' or '.me' suffix. If, for example, your usual sign-in method is '[email protected]' try using 'joebloggs'.
Worked for me.

Select your iPad under devices in the iTunes source list to make the various tabs for your iPad sync preferences with iTunes available in the main iTunes window.

You would have to turnoff match to manually sync those files to your phone, the. Turn match back on so you can use it like you normally would for all your match able music. iTunes works the same way now with match and your music like it does for iCloud and your contacts and calendars. In order to prevent duplication, you can't sync with a cloud service and manually on a computer the same information, unless you temporarily disable the cloud-type service - in your case iTunes match
