How to ID specific printer drivers installed with system?

Good evening.
How can I find out what specific printer drivers are installed with my current OS 10.4.11 software?
It has been updated by the "software update" route since original install by Apple at factory.
I would like to use my old but bulletproof Epson Color Stylus 600 printer. The Apple support site says that support should be there.
Thanks for your time.

Just add the printer. If you did not install printer drivers you can do so from the Optional Installer on the Tiger DVD.

  • HT3669 Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. Can someone please advise me how I get the printer to work with my i-Mac? I have installed it but documents don't print. Thanks

Hi I have a Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer. This works with my Windows-based Toshiba laptop but not with my i-Mac. I have the latest (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) OS-X software.
I have installed the printer using 'System Preferences' on my i-Mac and it appears on the list of available printers but documents that I create just don't print.
Can someone please advise me how I get the Konica Minolta PagePro 1300W printer to work with my i-Mac?
    Thanks, John Lee

Looking at the Konica web site for the PagePro 1300W, I saw the following note.
Please note: This printer is designed to be used in computer operating systems running MS Windows only. Operating systems such as UNIX, Macintosh, or Linux are not supported nor do we have workaround drivers available. Older MS Windows versions, such as Windows 3.1/95/98[pre-SE] and NT 3.51/4.0, are not supported.
So KM are not going to help you. But the LinuxFoundation does provide a workaround that should allow you to print. Have a look at this web page. You will need to install all three packages as per the instructions from that page.

  • Local settings for clients with print drivers installed on server?

    Greetings,
We have a Windows Server 2012 R2 that has a print driver installed and shared (Xerox 560 ~ Fiery driver).
Clients map to this driver. I.E. they add printer from network and select it from the list.
However, because its mapped, they can't edit the driver or save their settings locally (for example: the accounting code is set in the properties of the driver and not in the preferences).
If they do, as admin, then those changes percolate back up to the sever driver and then to all clients.
My question is how do I get the clients to manage their own local settings, these settings being found in the properties of the print driver and not in the preferences?
I need to be able to set things that are set on the properties (and not preferences) of the driver locally on their computer, but I don't want to have to install the driver manually on every client.
Is their a way to have a local version of the properties page?
    Is this possible?
Thank you for letting me know.
    Antoine

  • CUPS in the network - possible without specific printer drivers?

    Hello guys,
I am trying to build a small home server from a netbook.
One of things it should do is sharing a printer for Mac OS and Windows. The server has printer drivers and is able to print with CUPS and Foomatic drivers.
Is it possible to set up server in a way that clients would not need any printer specific drivers?
As I understand it should be possible to print there with PostScript which should be universal. Are there any limitations of this (like printing of images) or better solutions for that?
If the PostScript is the way to go, could you point me to article about setting CUPS for that?

Well, if you are using a router, then you should - for your safety - have it require a password. I would not run an open wifi network - anybody on the street and your neighbors could be using your network for free internet access.
I can only think of one possible way for this: have your turned on Printer Sharing in the Sharing Preference? But I believe you will still need a password. I'm not an expert on Sharing, so hopefully someone else will chime in. In the meantime, there is some information (scroll down for printer sharing):

  • How do I uninstall print drivers that do not work?

I've downloaded the HP drivers for 10.6 from here
    http://support.apple.com/downloads/HPPrinter_Drivers_for_Mac_OS_X_v106
However, I am still unable to get my HP PSC 1400 to print via the Time Capsule. Since the driver package ended up being +500 MB, is there any way that I can uninstall these drivers to regain that space?

So the printer drivers for the PSC1400 series unfortunately did not make it onto the DVD. They will be available through a software update at some point in the future. You should able to install the 10.5 solution to get basic functionality working again. As for deleting the files, yes there is a way, but it still leaves some of the files laying around so software update won't work.
If you want the space though, most of the files are in /Library/Printers/hp. That being said the software update to provide printing support will probably put most of them back.
    Just trying to help.

    I have a Toshiba; running Windows 8:
My laptop wasn't recognizing my HP Photosmart C309g Scanner for some reason. Although I could print, I need the scanner, so I decided to uninstall/reinstall everything.
Perhaps I uninstalled the wrong feature first, but whatever happened, my laptop had a hiccup & windows wouldn't load.  I used the onboard problem solving feature and windows did reload.
I returned to my efforts to reinstall the printer drivers (using the CD), but when the Setup window appears,  the Install option doesn't appear.  I only have the option to Exit the software setup window.
Does this mean there are still remnants of the previous installation?  In the Programs and Features list, there are remants (HP Cust Part Program; HP Imaging Device Functions; and HP Solution Ctr, all of which were installed at the same time as the printer driver.   Nothing happens when I right click to uninstall or double click on it to uninstall.
    Any suggestions?  Thank you!

  • Canon MP620 Printer drivers outdated with installation of OS X Snow Leopard

I have a 2009 iMac running OS X 10.6.4. I uploaded 10.6.4 in Feb, and I didn't realize at the time that I could print but not scan with my Canon mp620 (Printer/scanner.) When I used the Canon app "Solution Menu" to scan, I got an error message saying that there were no drivers for my printer/scanner. Following advice I found on the topic, I guessed that the original driver software was the problem, having come with the printer before OS 10.6. I followed PAHU's instructions:
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    2. Move your mouse over the Printers list
    3. Hold down the Control button and click the mouse (or right click if supported).
    4. Click "Reset printing system ..."
    5. Restart your Mac
This didn't solve the problem. Now I could neither print nor scan.
Then I went to Canon's online site (following DNC70's solution), but since I was working after hours, I couldn't very well contact customer support. Instead, I downloaded every MP620 driver listed on Canon's site that said compatible with OS 10.6. I now have about eight downloads. With that, I now find that I can scan and not print. I'm not sure what I've done.
Any advice? How do I straighten this out?
    -Michael

    Thanks Donald, that was it!
I knew it'd be something easy.. Now the thing I'd like to know is, how do I get rid of software that is useless to me? I'd really like not to have excess software installed, but I'm not confident that I can just go in and start trashing anything that looks like junk. (If you do that on a Windows computer, you set in motion a diabolical chain reaction that brings about the apocalypse.) I'm a pretty new Mac user. Is there an app that'll do this task?
    Thanks again!
    -Michael

  • New HP printer drivers problem with C4280

Hello, I have a HP C4280 all in one printer which all worked fine with the CD drivers which came with the printer. Yesterday the Apple software update showed new HP drivers. After installing the new drivers a HP Setup assistant box come up and it is apparently looking for a printer to setup and it could not find one. The printer does work however but now I lost the feature of being able to scan something by pressing the scan button on the printer and that automatically launching the client HP program on the screen etc. I see a USB error on the printer.
I tried rebooting and the same HP setup assistant utility showed up again but could not find my printer.
So I tried to un install the HP drivers using their program to do so from the HP utility folder. It did uninstall everything but the HP setup assistance program still come up. I tried installing my old drivers from the CD and it now has the same problem .
I believe this HP setup program did not get un installed.
I would like to just get back to where I was working with the old drivers if I can find out out to remove everything related to this new HP driver install. I would then re install from my CD.
13" new MB, 2 gig memory running OS 10.5.6.
    Your help is appreciated!

Just in case someone else is having this problem here is what I did which seems to have solved the problem.
    1) remove the USB cable to the printer.
    2) remove the printer profile from the Print & Fax section of Preferences.
    3) Download the HP driver pkg from the Apple download driver section.
Run the installer and follow the directions. It will instruct you when to plug the USB cable back in.
This is what worked for me.

  • How to get Network Printing to work with Brother!!

So i have my BROTHER DCP-7020 printer connected to my Windows machine and i've been sharing the printer on the network with my old iMac 24' which prints perfectly. Now i have the 27' imac and i have no idea why it won't do printing via network, plugging in USB works fine, i've installed the driver but it doesn't look like it did anything. It just worked on my 24' without any hassle, it gets detected in the "Printer Settings" automatically and i dont recall doing anything to get it to work before.
Can anyone give me some tips of why it won't print and what I need to do in order to get network printing to work on my new Mac?
By the way BOTH MACHINE runs SNOW LEOPARD.
