How to identify display and navigational attributes in report?

To all of thanks to be in SDN, plz send tue clarifications.....?
Q. How to identify display and navigational attributes in report?  is there any naming convension differences for both of them?

This works fine for "powerusers", but for informational users you have to create your own naming conventions for all navigational attributes which are not unique. For example 0COUNTRY may be a navigational attribute of 0CUSTOMER, OSOLD-TO, 0SHIP-TO, 0BILLTOPRTY, 0PAYER. To make the text clear for your users in reports name it CS Country, SO Country, SH Country, BT country, ... as 0COUNTRY could also be a characteristic from the document.
This means quiet some work especially if you have a multilingual installation, but the information users will be very thankful.
hope this helps

  • Reg: Display of Navigational attribute in report

    Hi All,
I have a report built on the multiprovider which contains two cubes say CUBE1 and CUBE2.
I can see two rows in the report; each row corresponds to these cubes.
I have customer field and a country field in the report. Country field is maintained in the master data of the customer and is a navigation attribute in the report.
I can see the Customer filed in the report output but the country field is not showing any value.
Country field in the customer master data.
Please provide your inputs, why I am not getting the values in country field.
    Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
    Check the following.
    1. Check if the data is available for country field in the customer master data.
    2. Open cube 1 and check in the navigational fields, Contry is marked or not. If you want to use it in the report, Country field which is in a customer master data, should be marked.
    3. Same way check in cube 2.
    4. Open your multi provider, mark this navigational attribute if it is not marked, and assign it to the cube by right click-> identify.
if the data is avaialble in the master data, your problem will be solved.

  • Line Item Dimension and Navigational attribute

    Hi Gurus,
Can somebody tell me how line item Dimensions and navigational attributes works technically?
What are the pros and cons for them?
    Regards
    Alex

    Hi Alex,
You will use navigational attributes based on how you want to track and report history. Let me explain with an example.
Customer Bubba is assigned Sales Group XYZ in Jan 2007. In July the Sales Group on the Customer Master record is changed to  ABC. Your are looking at the sales report.
1). If you want to see all the sales made to Customer Bubba at the time of reporting (current) then you will use navigational attributes You will create 0SALESGRP as the navigational attribute of 0CUSTOMER .  Then all sales to the customer will show up under Sales Group ABC.
2). If you want to see  all the sales made to the customer at the time the actual transaction occured then you will add Sales Group as a characteristic of the InfoCube. Then sales from Jan - June 2007 will show under Sales Group XYZ and from July - Present will show under Sales Group ABC.
Performance issue occurs because navigational attribute is stored outside of the dimension table of the cube and is stored in separate master data tables. So query has to perform additional table read. So essentially there are advantages and disadvantages of usng navigational attributes. It is business requirement that will drive the use of navigational attribute.
Hope this helps!!!. Please assign points.

Is there a way to get and store both display and value attributes from the picklist? I would like to store the display attribute and the value attribute of the selected item from the picklist. It seems like it only returns one attribute. Thanks!

    Get an instance of messagechoice...
    there are two methods.
    setListValueAttribute("ViewAttributeName");
    setListDisplayAttribute("ViewAttributeName");
    you can get both values...

  • R12: How to filter AP and PO Accrual Reconciliation Report based on GL Date

    Hi,
Anybody know how to filter AP and PO Accrual Reconciliation Report based on GL Date from and GL Date to in R12?
Since we just upgraded from 11.5.10 to 12.1.3 and found we cannot filter those report for specific date. It shown all data included the old data from 8 years ago also.
We need to run the report only for specific date only. Please share with me if anyone know about this.
    Thanks.

In 12 you can rebuild and run the report for a particular period, but not a single day if that's what's required

    Hi,
Could you please re-phrase your question? As the report painter is a reporting tool I assume you want to report on P&L accounts and not u201Ccreateu201D them. A few more details on what you intend to report would be useful.

  • How to see Navigation attribute in Report

    Hi ,
      I am working on BI7.0.
In my Query , material is a characteristic which has 3-4 Navigation attributes. But when I execute the report , I can only see Material data displayed (because only material is in the rows). I also want to see data of its attributes in report results. I dont have authorisation to change the query.
Also I am unable to open the Query in Local view (some connectivity issues).
Can you please suggest How I can drill-down those attributes.??
Also these attributes are not visible in free characteristics.
    Thanks,
    Su

    Hi there,
To use the navegational attributes with drill down, they have to be available in either rows, columns or free characterisitic.
For that you have to edit the query. There's no other way.
But each navegational attribute is also a display attribute.
Therefore, you can after executing the query, right-click over material and select properties. You'll see a tab named attributes where you can add the avilable attributes to the left (so they will be displayed), and change the settings of each one of them (see only key, key and text, etc.), but you can't filter by any of those attributes, or do any drill down options over them. They are only display attributes.
    Hope this helps.
    Diogo.

  • How to show data for navigational attribute in a report ?

    Hello all,
I have a hierarchy info object A which has a navigational attribute(hierarchy) B. I need to filter on B for a particular node.
I have added A in the filter column and selected B as the attribute. How can i restrict B for a particular hierarchy node ?
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
    S N

    Hi,
Have you defined 'B' as Navigational attribute at InfoProvider Level?
You can Restrict B for a Particular Value once it is defined as Navigational attribute at InfoProvder level.
Go to InfoProvider maintaince>click 'nav attributes'>enable it (check the box).activate the InfoProvider.
Then you can see it under same dimension where 'A' is assigned and its name would be  A_B.
Drag and drop in to rows and restrict(include/exclude) with required value.
    thanks

  • Attributes are not displaying in Navigational Attributes area of DSO.

    Hi Experts,
I have created a DSO and have included Info Objects 0SOLD_TO & 0SHIP_TO. In the Navigational Attributes area, its attributes are not getting displayed even though the attributes are in the info object.
What are the steps needed to perform for it to display there?
    Waiting for your reply,
    Thanks in advance,
    With Kind Regards,
    Shreeem

    Hi Shreem,
If you want attributes of any master objects in navigational attributes section, you have make them navigational attributes while defining base info object.
    Please follow the below steps.
    1) goto RSA1, search for 0SOLD_TO & 0SHIP_TO info objects and open them
    2) goto edit mode of info object and goto attributes section.
    3) here you will find for every object "DIS" --- this means these attributes are display attributes.
    4) If you want to change any attribute to NAV, then click on "Pencil Mark".
    5) Now you can see text NAV instead of DIS for that attribute.
activate the info object and goto DSO, now you will see that attribute in navigational attribute folder.

    Venkatesh

  • RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ and navigational attributes

    Hi experts,
can you please share your knowledge and experience with me?
    the issue:
within a custom ABAP program i am calling function module RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ with standard parameters. this works fine only if no characteristics or basic characteristics selection is applied. But the call will fail in case we select on navigational attributes of characteristics.
is there any experience in the field or at SAP about this restriction, or maybe some helpful workaround?
Many thanks for your feedback and assistance!
    Cheers, Harry

    Hello everybody,
I face the same problem that RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ doesn't work with navigational attributes. It throws an exception. I did some debugging and found out the following:
At some point in the call stack, the method CL_SQL_PARAMETERS->SET_PARAM_STRUCT is invoked.
This Method reads the structure of the fields:
    cl_abap_typedescr=>describe_by_data_ref( struct_ref ).
    struct_ref is filled with /BIC/V<Cube>2
This dictionary structure does not contain any navigational attributes.
Then, there is a loop on the InfoObjects that were transferred to RSDRI_INFOPROV_READ with the parameter I_TH_SFC (also nav. attributes). Within the loop, the fields are "compared" to the components of the structure /BIC/V<Cube>2:
    READ TABLE sdescr_p->components ASSIGNING <comp>
      WITH KEY name = <cf>.
Since the nav. attributes are not contained in the internal table sdescr_p->components an exception is raised and the function terminates with an error.
By the way, this problem only occurs after we have upgraded to BI 7.0.....
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot!
    Cheers
    Michael
