Due to the reason we need a different configuration in KM, I changed e.g. some values in the .cc.xml and .co.xml files. I rebuild the project and checked the created EAR file. I noticed that the ConfigArchive file in EAR file still has the old values. It seems that SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.3 is not recognizing in a portal application project the configuration of the src.config folder anymore. To test this, I removed the initial provided ConfigArchive in the folder dist\PORTAL-INF\config\ from your project. I rebuild it and the ConfigArchive in the EAR file wasnu2019t included.
I found in the documentation (http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/de/42/60aec0032c1422e10000000a114cbd/frameset.htm) the SAP Note 1572813, which would describe how to use KMC wizards in SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio 7.3. But the article is currently not released to public.
In addition I have discovered, that it is possible to include the src.config folder in the build process if the project is set up as a development component (see for details bullet point Optionally of http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw73/helpdata/de/42/60aec0032c1422e10000000a114cbd/frameset.htm). This works. But later on I am facing another problem: I am missing the entry KMC-CM to add it as a dependency for the development component.

Sorry for the previous post. Let me explain the scenario in brief..
We need to upload a document to a particular folder in KM and assign Permissions to the same. Say For example, we have 100 users and a admin user. The uplaoded file by a user should not be viewed by other 99 users, the admin & the user who uploaded the doc can have full control over it. Similarly the case should be generated for the other 99 users.
We tried to uplod the document and assign permnissions manually. But i know this is not the best way to approach this requirement.
What should be the best solution to assign permissions to the uploaded document?

I have a question like , How to implement **single sign on** feature in java without using any third party framework or tool like LDAP or any other which is available in the market.
Actually the situation is i have all security information into the table and those information is used for single sign on . If a user logged in from a jsp loging page all the security role should be assigned to that particular user.
We can do this using LDAP but i am not supposed to use the LDAP or any third party tool . I have to write a java class for that .
please suggest me the method , how to implement this in a web application.

you could setup a token that specifies a user is authenticated. other applications that u want SSO can check for existance of this token
if it is HTTP - you can save the token as a cookie and downstream apps look for this token
yr code needs to validate that the token/cookie was indeed a valid one and not subject to man-in-the middle attack.

How to backup a single folder

How does one update the contents of a single folder/file without disturbing the contents of other folders/files on the hard drive? Dragging via the Finder is not something that I wish to do because the file in question is a Package and I don't wish to recopy everything in the package that has not changed.

Unfortunately you can not do that it has been asked like forever and always gets pushed aside. You will have to export your bookmarks and strip out what you do not want being careful to maintain the integrity of the exported bookmarks backup file. Then import the bookmarks. into Firefox. The imported bookmarks will get added to a folder at the end of your "Bookmarks Menu" bookmarks folder. Move them to where you want them and then delete the folder you added to the "Bookmarks Menu". If you automatically sort your bookmarks (automatic sorting is a bad idea), be sure to turn it off beforehand.

How complicated is it to implement Robohelp Server for multiple authors?

I am presently the lone techical writer in my company and I use Robohelp HTML V8 to generate WebHelp for our software. The RH software has been upgraded from an original V5 Robohelp full license, to a V7 upgrade and then a V8 upgrade.
I am investigating the use of Robohelp Server to open the possibility of adding another author, and would like to know how complicated it is. Do we still need to buy two seat licenses for Robohelp V9 as well as Robohelp Server V9, or are they included with the Server license? Also, are there any concerns for upgrading V8 project to V9?
If this information is already covered somewhere in the forums, please feel free to point me in that direction. I have not been able to find it myself. Thanks in advance!

Indeed what you likely want is some form of source control. And certainly, splitting the project up and making different folks "captain of their own ship", is one way to roll.
But it sounds like you may have either misunderstood or had the RoboSource control misconfigured. With any source control system, the way it usually works is by storing all the content on the server in the source control database. But for each client connecting to the database, you establish what is called a "Working Folder". And that is usually on each local PC. When you check files out, they are copied to the working folder. So you work locally, but the application handles copying them back and forth to and from the server as you work. That way, you shouldn't be seeing performance issues.

CRM Implementation Landscape: Single Vs Multiple Instance

Hi Experts,
We have a requirement where SAP CRM has to be implemented across Multiple Geagraphic Loacations (Europe, APAC, NAFTA).
We have to advise the client to go for Single Instance of SAP CRM or Multiple Instances.
What are the factors that have to be considered before taking this kind of decision?
What does SAP recommend for such cases, any documentation will be helpful.

Mostly driven by the current setup, business model the company has now.
(1) If R/3 (ERP, ECC) is in the landscape (I am sure it is), do they have separate instances in the different regions?
(2) How is the master data? Business Partners, Products, Organizational data, Sales / Service Configuration. These are downloaded from the backend (R/3) into the CRM system.
(3) How independent are these geographic regions? If they have disparate business models and master data, then it would be simpler to have multiple independent instances with limited integration within CRM landscape.
(4) What processes in CRM? Do they plan in rolling out same scenarios?
Questions like these will drive the discussion on such questions. One-size-fits-all may not always be right choice.

I need your help in achieving the following requirement.
1. Security should be applied based on a DeptName from DeptTable For example Department Name= A , Department Name =B, Department Name =C.
2. Also security should be based on Officer Indicator from EmployeeTable= Yes or No.
3. Employee Salary information is grouped into EmpFacts in presentation folder. Only a few users who belong to the group which has access to the folder, should be able to see this folder when they login.
(DeptAOfficerYesEmpFactYesSuper. All the groups which has EmpFactYes are given permissions to EmpFact Folder in presentation Folder)
4. On top of these all the users are classified into Mega and Super users. Mega users should have read only access to dashboards and Super users should be able to edit the dashboards. ( All the groups which are classified as Super are given access to "Edit Dashboard" in Presentation Catalog )
NOTE: As we are deploying our rpd in the shared environment we are not supposed to use SESSION VARIABLES.
TO achieve the above requirement we have created AD groups such that DeptAOfficerYesEmpFactYesSuper , DeptAOfficerNoEmpFactNoSuper and so on. By this method all the permutation and combinations will result in AD groups.
We know that this approach will lead to severe maintenance issues and hence looking for other alternatives.
We are now planning to have only DeptA, DeptB, DeptC groups and use them in conjunction with three other groups ( Officer, EmpFact, Super).
Can we add a single user in all these user groups ?
Kindly let me know if you need any clairty on this.

Yes and no..meaning a user with just 1 group assigned will retrieve less data then a user with multiple groups assigned, so yes, more data to select will affecct your performace (a bit), but no, the use of multiple security groups by itself won't affect performance..
The use of multiple security groups will reflect in the use of an IN or a subquery in your logical query, OBI will determine the best way in each case and your database (and statistics) will determine the best physical query and therefore query performance.

How to implement Case Structure for multiple inputs to Pic Ring?

So I have a reasonably simple program which I am almost completeed with. Basically the data of an array is read and then is indexed and a new array is created from the indexed data. And then I use Match Pattern to see if elements in the new array match certain words. And if they do then a number value is allocated to a Pic Ring at the end. And depending on the final number value the Pic Ring changes from one pic to another.
However, I have the problem that I will be using multiple Match Pattern functions to compare elements in the final array, but I can't attach multiple Match Patterns and their subsequent logic statements to a single Pic Ring, only one. I've been trying to work this out by implementing a Case Structure or Event Structure. But the Event Structure isn't working and with the Case Structure, it is very messy with multiple True/False Case Structures inside of each other. Anyway, hopefully this all makes some sense. I'm attaching the VI program to this post. Thanks.

Obviously, you can only display one picture. So then the question becomes which picture to show. Therefore, you will have to create some sort of preference of one pattern over another.
I would use a FOR loop so that you can loop through your available patters and their possible results. Use the Conditional Terminal on the FOR loop so that you can stop the loop on the first match. Then you just wire up the selected value for the ring outside of the loop.

NAC in a Single WLC, multiple site scenario

Hello:
I have the following network and would like to know whether I need a WLC per site.
There are 3 different sites with the followig equipment:
Main site: one NAC server (CAS), one NAC manager, several APs
Branch 1: one NAC server (CAS), several APs.
Branch 2: one NAC server (CAS), one WLC, several APs.
I´ve read that in order to function properly, WLC and CAS server must be L2 adjacent. Does that mean that I need one WLC per site, or it means that WLC + CAS in Branch2 would control wireless APs users in all three locations, as long as they (WLC + CAS in Branch2) are both L2 adjacents?
Any advice would be very appreciated.

If project is on C, how do multiple authors share?

Hi all,
I've been a lone author, and soon I will not be. We're going
to be installing either RoboSource Control 3 or a third-party
version control system in order for all four of us to access and
work in the same help projects at the same time. However, I'm
rather confused about something. I keep reading in the user forum
that each author still needs to have the help project on their C
drive and run it and RoboHelp from there, but you check in/out
topics from the server. But how do the other parts of the help
project work, like the TOC and index?
Is the help project merely a "manager," and
the TOC and index and all of those other bells and whistles outside
of the individual html topics stored in separate files out on the
server, which you check-in/out every time you make changes to the
TOC or index? If that's so, what happens if one author makes
changes to the index from Topic Properties (Index tab), and another
author is modifying the index at the same time?
I don't really understand how this works, and the Adobe
articles do a poor job of really explaining how this works.

Of course I'm not Gravenstein.
But your summation is incorrect. RoboSource Control does
indeed allow multiple authors to work simultaneously on a project.
I stand to be corrected, but I think the way RoboSource
Control works is by essentially locking things at the folder level.
So assume you have a project with many different folders. You
choose a file inside folder A and other files inside that folder
(but no sub folders) are locked until you release (or check in) the
file you were working on.
Does this make more sense?
Normally all the source files are on the server. But
copies exist on your PC in what is typically called the
*Working Folder*. As you check files in and out, they are copied
back and forth automatically to and from your hard drive. So you
work locally always, but the source control software manages the
server bit.

Best Practices for multiple authors using single project?

We are having many issues, particularly with moving, renaming, and multiple check out warnings. We have a single project with many authors and it seems like RH is not designed to work that way. There is an article in the RH devnet-archive in an article entitled "Sharing RoboHelp Project Among Multiple Authors" that says"
"At first there may be the temptation to let every author work on every file in a project. This is certainly not a best practice. Regardless of source contraol, it is always best to designate certain authors as owning certain content-related sections, folders, or topics within a project -particulary at the folder level."
This statement, and our experience seems to indicate that RH is not a true CMS as we had envisioned. What are the best practices for this scenario to avoid stepping on each others toes and having problems with source control.

I have moved this to the source control forum for the gurus there to answer.
Meantime I must admit I read that statement the same way as you first time. However, on rereading I think what the author is saying is not that what you want cannot be done, rather it is best practice to guide authors to work in discrete areas.
I will leave it to the author or another guru to give you a more complete answer.

Kevin is suggesting that you store the projects you create while working through his book in a folder called RoboHelpProjects. It is not where you have to store every project you ever create.That is for the purposes of his book.
RoboHelp initially defaults to My RoboHelp Projects but it's up to you whether you do. Generally on the forums we advise against that as it is part of your profile and can result in excessively long path names in a few cases. Generally where authors create file names that are so long they almost serve as the content.
Projects always have a root folder, call them Project 1 and Project 2 for this purpose. You can have those folders directly off your C drive (or other local partition) or within in a parent folder as above.
Now to what you can and cannot do. You can delete a whole project by selecting Project 1 or Project 2 in Windows Explorer. Obviously if you delete the parent folder you will delete all your projects within.
What you must not do is delete individual files within a project using Windows Explorer, for that you use RoboHelp's Project Manager. The exception is if you go to Tools > Reports there is a report Unused Files. Files listed there will have to be deleted using Windows Explorer for the very good reason they do not appear in Project Manager and, therefore, cannot be deleted that way.
If you think about it, it is similar to Word. There is no option to delete a document there other than using File > Open and right clicking. Not very intuitive.

What is the actual question/problem?
A java app doesn't do threads or not do threads. It uses classes. The VM does threads.
So if you have a platform that does not have threads and you want to support the thread class then the VM, not a java app, must provide some pseudo mechanism, such as green threads, to support that.
If your question is about java code and not the VM then you must build a task engine and insure that the tasks are of short enough duration that it is an effective use for your system.

You generally can't upload a folder to a website, but some sites allow you to select multiple files. You'll have to refer to the specific website instructions to see if that's possible.
Alternatively, it might be appropriate to first compress the folder in the Finder using rightclick, then "Compress", which creates a single .ZIP file - then upload this file.
