How to import a DVD movie into FCEHD

I need to import a home movie that is on a DVD into FCEHD.
The move was created with FCE and iDVD.
Thanks

Hi Larry.
If you read this post it should give you some useful information:-
Ian R. Brown, "How Do You Convert a DVD video to an mpeg video?" #2, 06:02am Oct 10, 2005 CDT
Also, as well as HandBrake you could try ffmpegx which will give you better quality as you can convert the MPEG2 files into DV and import it directly into FCE.
It is Shareware. You can use it free of charge but if you find it extremely useful they would like you to make a payment - I think it is $15.

  • How to import my dvd movie into ipad?

I own some movies that I would like to import into my ipad, the same way I can do with music CDs. How do I do it? I don’t find the option, and don’t want to believe that my only option is to pay twice for the same movie (buying it again from iTunes store). Help?

If your DVD's are encrypted, Hollywood doesn't want you to be able to figure out how to copy them.  Encryption is used in all store bought DVD's.

  • How do I get DVD movies into iTunes (and thus my iPad)?

I have a pc with Windows XP. How do I import my DVD movies into iTunes? Do I need to buy additional software? Or is my best bet joining netflix?
    Thanks!

you can copy them for your own use.
Copying is not the issue. Breaking the encryption is.
But it's kind of a catch 22 in that you cannot copy a DVD unless you break the encryption.
    in Europe it is not
    Europe is not one country.
Most European countries have their own equivalent of the DMCA and it is illegal to break the encryption in some of these countries.

  • How to download a DVD movie into Premiere Elements 12 using my MacBook Pro so I can edit the video?

How to download a DVD movie into Premiere Elements 12 using my MacBook Pro so I can edit the video?

    Bob Perez
Please review and consider the following which works for me in Premiere Elements 12 Window 64 bit.
From what you wrote, I suspect that you have DVD-VIDEO widescreen on DVD disc. For now I will assume that you are working in a NTSC setup.
Premiere Elements DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc is characterized as interlaced video with field order lower (bottom) field first. I am not sure how your DVD-VIDEO on DVD was produced - upper (top) field first or lower (bottom) field first. We may have to apply Field Option Reverse Field Dominance at the Timeline level, but for now let us put that aside for a later time.
Insert your DVD disc in the DVD burner tray.
Open Premiere Elements to the Expert workspace and set the project preset manually for NTSC DV Widescreen. How to details for manual project preset setting are found
ATR Premiere Elements Troubleshooting: PE11: Accuracy of Automatic Project Preset (New Project Dialog) Setting
Then, Add Media/DVD camera or Computer Drive/Video Importer.
The video files from the DVD-VIDEO will be the larger size files and will probably start with VTS_01_1.VOB.
In the Video Importer designate the save location for video file VOB(s) and select Add to Timeline and hit Get Media
to put the files on the Timeline for editing.
If you have more than one DVD disc to "rip", please set up the Video Importer Save In location so that the save in location has a folder for each disc. The fact that all DVDs have the same VTS_01_1.VOB name etc will cause problems if you saved all to the same place as individual files.
Determine how that works for you in your Mac computer environment. We will be watching for your progress.
Others may tell you that you need to convert the VOB to another format before import into Premiere Elements. That is no necessary for Premiere Elements.
    Thank you.

  • How do import my avi movie into iMovie? And camera help.

I know that these topics have been posted before and I've searched for a solution to no success. I want to import the m ovies I record on my Canon (Ixus 55/Powershot SD450) into my iMovie. BUt whenever I drag the movie file from my desktop to iMovie I get a bouncing icon and it tells me it is not a valid format. I'm sure I have the DivX codec on my Mac, can anyone suggest why it is not working?
While I'm at it, does anyone know of digital cameras of similar standing that will record mpg and iPhoto will erase the content of once it has imported?

  • Importing burned dvd movies into Imovie

I'm trying to put some of my home videos that are on DVD onto my iMovie but when I put the dvd in, it plays the dvd but the file has a red negative sign at the bottom right hand corner and when I open the file there is nothing in it, so I can't import it

  • Can I import a DVD movie into iPad?

If so what software do you recommend?

Look for a DVD that says "digital copy included" on the packaging when you buy one, you can then download the included digital copy using iTunes to your computer by entering the redeem code when you insert the DVD. Then you can sync that digital download copy to the iPad.
(Apple Discussions terms of use doesn't allow mentioning ripping software that circumvents the copy-protection/digital-rights-management of media from content producers that Apple does business with)
so, if anyone mentions the \[edited by moderator\] app, then it would probably get edited by a moderator.

  • Is there any way to import my OWN DVD movies into iTunes and my video iPod?

I just purchased the new 30 GB video iPod last week, and although I have already purchased a few movies from the iTunes store, I wanted to know if there was a way to import a DVD movie from my own DVD library like we can with our own music CDs?
    Thanks,

"That's too bad, because these are movies (DVDs) that I own and have purchased legally myself. How is that different from importing your own purchased CDs into iTunes? Seems like a double standard to me."
About "legally owning" the DVDs - Yes, I understand, and I'm figuring that most folks who want to put their DVDs onto their iPod are owning the movies legally (or, at least, it appears so).
That's not really the issue here, though.
The problem is, there is an encryption that is written onto regular, copyrighted DVDs (i.e., movies). In order to get that onto your iPod, you will have to use software on your computer that breaks that encryption, and makes the file into some more "normal" format, like say, MP4.
This action can arguably be considered as illegal, in a sense, since you are removing the encryption that's on DVD, which is protecting it from being easily copied, and transferred around. (which would be illegal).
This is a bit different than CDs, since, although they are copyrighted too, the songs are usually not in a protected format.
If you have a song that you've purchased from the iTunes Store, and you want to break into that "protected" file format, that's the same kind of issue as the DVD ripping.
(Notice that the Hosts included that into the ADUA as well, right along with DVD ripping.)
...It's quite an interesting kind of subject, isn't it?

  • Is it possible to download purchased DVD movies into my computer?

Looking to import DVD movies into computer and then into my IPOD? Is this possible? If so, how can I do it?

Looking to import DVD movies into computer and then
into my IPOD? Is this possible? If so, how can I do
    it?
Yes you can. You will need a couple of programs. First you will need a program to put the dvd on your computer. Decrypter works well for that. google it and you will find plenty of sites to download it.
Then you will need a program that will convert it to the right format for your ipod. There are several programs out there that will do this. I use this one http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-win.html
both the programs that I gave you are free and do work quite well. There are pay programs that convert them in on step, I heard they are faster, but have not tried them. I do know the two that I recomended to you work very well and I have not had a problem with either one. Hope this helps.

  • How can i convert 3d movie into 2d to watch it in mac

i have a movie with mkv file playable on vlc how can i convert the movie into 2d

There are now a bunch of them out there. Do a Google search for "mac 3D conversion" They tend to be around $35. I have been using iSkysoft products, which have been fairly easy to use. They have a "iMedia Converter Deluxe for Mac" that besides the 3D to 2D conversion, will also convert video to 70+ formats, has a 1-Click Video Downloader, and a single click Rip DVD and Burn to DVDs feature. Also claims to be "Ultrafast" all for the same price others apps are that only do the conversion.

  • Is it possible to download a dvd movie into my itunes account so i can put it on my ipad?

Is it possible to download a dvd movie into my itunes account so i can put it on my ipad? If so, how?

Sorry, but if you're referring to commercial and hence copy-protected video DVDs, breaking the copy protection, which would be necessary to copy the videos from the DVD and convert them, is illegal in the US (and other countries) and hence Apple explicitly forbids such posts. We're therefore not allowed to discuss it here.   Some DVDs and Blu-Ray movies come with a "digital copy" that allows you to download a copy of the movie for use on computers and portable devices. You might see if any of the DVDs you have come with such a feature. Walmart/Vudu also has a service that basically gives you a digital copy of a DVD you already own. See:
    http://www.vudu.com/disc_to_digital.html
If these are home movies that you or someone has burned to DVD and hence are not copy-protected, Handbrake (freeware) is one of the more popular converters. Once converted, you just drag the movie into the iTunes window on your computer.
    Regards.

  • How to get Samsung F34BN movies into iMovie

I just got a Samsung F34BN for Christmas and I can't see from the instructions how to import its movies into iMovie (either 6, 8, or 9). Help OB1, your my only hope

I have a samsung hmx-h100...try this...if the camcorder came with windows software, turn it off in the camera's menu setting...if it has a memory card (like mine), once you've taken your video, connect the usb cable to your mac...the camera should mount on your desktop...double click the samsung icon, navigate to the video folder, and you should see your video clips...drag them onto the desktop...then open up your version of imovie, click import, and select the clips on your desktop...I had various degree of success doing that with imovie 6...imovie 8 handled it well...the other thing you can do if you want to use imovie 6 is use MPEG Streamclip, drag your clips into it, then export to quicktime...you should then be able to import your quicktime movie into imovie 6 and edit...

  • How can I convert DVD- video into Apple's format so that it can be played and streamed from my Mac?

How can I convert DVD- video into Apple's format so that I can play the content on my Mac and also stream it to my Apple TV? A few years ago, I transferred all of my home videos onto DVD but now would really like to put these onto my Mac and stream them through Apple TV to watch on the "big screen". Any advice would be most welcome!! Thanks

    MPEG Streamclip.
Apple do not have their "own" format. You need to convert your DVDs to H.264 though.
