How to import bookmarks from the hd of a dead laptop using Windows 8.

Hello,
I have tried the other solutions listed for this issue but none of them seem to work. My profile folder for the older version of firefox is empty, and I don't find APPDATA or any .json files even when files are unhidden. I would be grateful if you could provide an alternative method for importing old bookmarks from an external hd to a new computer than runs Windows 8.

Please try this: Open your current profile folder via Firefox '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information''' > '''Show Folder''', exit Firefox, and delete '''places.sqlite''' into the Recycle Bin. Next, open the drive letter corresponding to the external HD (usually it would be listed after your current drives i.e. if your laptop has C and D drives, the attached external HD would start at E), browse to '''E:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles''', open the folder inside, copy the '''places.sqlite''' into your current Firefox profile folder opened earlier via Firefox, and start Firefox.

Can anyone tell me how to import bookmarks from an iPhone onto my desktop (iMac)? All of our bookmarks were accidentally deleted from our mini mac, which then deleted them from our desktop with iCloud. My wife has all the bookmarks on her phone but we can't figure out how to sync them. The only info we could find was to click the info button on iTunes and then sync, but there is no info button. If you have OS X 10.9 Mavericks, then at this time there is no direct syncing of bookmarks, contacts nor calendar items between a Mac and an iOS device. All synching is done via iCloud. If there's another way to transfer your bookmarks from the iPhone to your Mac, I'm not aware of it, unless there's a third-party browser for the iPhone that could import the bookmarks from Safari and then transfer them by some other method. But if you set your wife's iPhone up to your iCloud account, that should then sync.

To export your bookmarks from Chrome, see:

To export your bookmarks from Firefox, go "Bookmarks > Organise Bookmarks". In the bookmarks Library screen, go "Import and Backup > Export HTML".
Once you've got the bookmarks html files from Chrome or Firefox, in Safari bring up your menu bar and go "File > Import Bookmarks". Browse to the html file you exported from Safari or Chrome, select the html file, and click "Open". That'll take you to the Bookmarks page in Safari. The bookmarks will be in a new folder called "Imported <DateYouImportedThem>".

Hello, I am trying to find a way to import photos from the Photo Library on my iPhone using iPhoto. It seems that the default setting only allows for photos in the 'camera roll' section to be imported and not the full photo library. We recently had to replace a hard drive and only had our photos backed up on mobile devices (iphone and ipad), but would like to import them on to our computer. Thank you.

No, iPhoto can't access these files. There are several apps that will recover the material from an iOS device and bring them over to the Mac.

How can I type using the Apple Symbol font? I want to use that font to include keyboard and cursor selections of actual screen symbols to help write easily understood explicit computer lesson emails to my 92 year-old mom from a few hundred miles away.

How to import bookmarks from an older PC to a new one on the home network

I have a new PC (Windows 7 and MS Office 2010) and as I was starting up the first day I saw a message that a network had been detected and asking whether I wished to import bookmarks from an earlier one.
I ignored it at the time as I had plenty of other things to set up, but would now like to import them PROVIDED that they would not be deleted from the old PC.

How do Import bookmarks from google toolbar into firefox 6.02

Firefox 6.02 does not support google toobar add on. I have a ton of bookmarks in google toolbar and would need at least to import them to firefox but I do not see any way of doing it.

You can open the Bookmarks Manager in Google Chrome (wrench icon > Bookmarks > Bookmarks Manager) and select "Tools > Export Bookmarks"
This will export the Chrome bookmarks to a file bookmarks.html.
You can import that file in Firefox: Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import HTML : "From File"

IMac G5 (10.3.9) display died. Saved hard drive as external disk. Can't import bookmarks from Firefox 2.0.0.2 to use on Mac Mini (10.4.11).

My G5 ran OSX 10.3.9 (highest functional version for that hardware). My Mac Mini (core solo) runs OSX 10.4.1.1 or thereabouts. I don't like the way any other browser works on the Mini, so I want to continue using Firefox, which was my default browser on the iMac, and I had years and years' worth of bookmarks on the iMac that I hope I don't have to rebuild one at a time. The iMac crash involved the display; the hard drive is completely functional and is in a new external drive case. The Apple Store folks said they're not allowed to work on such an old machine and likely it couldn't be repaired anyway. So, I have Firefox and presumably all its bookmarks (and maybe bookmarks backups) on the external hard drive, but the version of Firefox I copied to the Mac Mini does not appear to include any of my bookmarks, and the Firefox web site instructions for restoring Bookmarks from Firefox to Firefox don't address this older version. (I've even tried opening Firefox on the external drive and all I get is the 'clean slate' version with none of my old bookmarks.) How do I restore bookmarks from one version of Firefox to the same version of Firefox, just on a different, newer OS?

Firefox 2 versions use the file bookmarks.html to store the bookmarks.

this doesn't help - I get to the favorites folder on the external hard drive through the import process, but don't see how to do the actual importing. there's a button for "open file," but not sure what to do
