How to import both CDs of a 2 disc set?
My daughter has been trying to import the CD Hannah Montana 2 into itunes. The first disc, named Hannah Montana 2, imported easily. When we put the second disc, named Meet Miley Cyrus, into the computer and click import in itunes, it automatically lists all the songs from the first disc. How do you import the songs from the second disc of a 2 disc CD?

Hi all -
Finally have the time to upload "complete" CDs of music - holdover from back in the day when my hard drive wasn't big enough.
What's the best way to do this so I don't duplicate? SKIP duplicate songs? I thought that's what I did but still ended up with some duplicates. Is iTunes Match being turned on to blame?
I'm sure this has been covered before but before I spend hours doing it.
(ie say back in 2003, I imported 4 of 10 songs from Cd "A". Load CD "A" in 2015 and say skip duplicates? Or does it import and replace?). Whatever I started doing - still ended up getting duplicate songs....
thanks.I have never done this. Does it offer to skip duplicates? If it doesn't then you may have to select with the checkmarks which ones it imports. If you don't it likely won't overwrite but would create a duplicate.

Is it possible to insert an MP3 CD into your CD Drive and import it into itunes and have it stay in your library permanently?

You do not technically 'Import' MP3 files. Importing (within the iTunes program) is done with Audio CDs.
You will need to 'Add' the MP3s to your iTunes Library.
With the MP3 CD in the drive, go to 'File=>Add Folder' and browse to the CD drive. As long as you have the 'Copy Files to iTunes Music Folder when Adding to Library' selection checked, the MP3 will be copied to your PC and added into iTunes.
This sometimes does not work as well as expected. In that case, just copy the complete MP3 CD to your PC (say the Desktop or another location you can find), then use the File=>Add Folder within iTunes to move them into iTunes. Drag&Drop will work here, too. -

Hi all,
Based on the article here (Designate a System Photo Library in Photos - Apple Support) has anyone tried to bring both an iPhoto and Aperture library into iCloud Photo Library so that both libraries are available as one in iCloud and form the one Photos app library rather than being seen as separate libraries. I don't want the two separated as I have 200GB's of space in iCloud which is plenty to hold the two's collective space of about 40GB's.
It seems as though the procedure is pretty simple.
First of all set one of your libraries as the System Photo Library, this will happen naturally with setting up Photos app for the first time. I chose iPhoto as the original library.
Let this library upload all it's photo's to iCloud over a few minutes, hours, days etc.
When finished, enter your other library by closing Photos app and reopening while holding down the Option key (usually Alt). In this case I now opened the Aperture library that it had found.
Under Preferences > iCloud set this library as the System Photo Library and in turn it will have the ability to upload to iCloud.
When it's finished I suppose you will have both iPhoto AND Aperture pictures in the one iCloud Photo Library.
At least I hope the above makes sense.

That bit seems clear. You can merge photos from different libraries by making them 'designated' first .
BUT this means that Photos app only shows you library A , or library B, depending on which one you have opened , but Icloud library contains photos from Both library A and library B .
is this correct ?

How to import for other mac when the initial set up as already been done?
I've just got a new macbook from my organization but the IT people have already set up the system in order to install some applications. I know that when you open a new system, you can choose to import data from your old computer but how can you do this when the set up as already been performed without importing the data from the old computer? I don't want to reinstall the system since I would loose all the new applications and the IT people don't want to reinstall them.
My old laptop is an Ibook G4 1.07 with 10.3.9 and the new one is a macbook 2.16 GHz with 10.4.10.

You can connect the two Macs in *target disk mode*, see this document:

and copy any file you need from the iBook to the MB.
Start with the safest though:
Use the "import" functions in all applications that offer this possibility.
Only with the files that you can't import through GUI, you can go on further and copy the Applications Support files, the Preferences, etc
(usually in Home/Library, some rare cases in Macintosh HD/Library).

Help! How to import 2 STL subtitle files in track s1?
Very basic question but can't get it right.
I have 2 STL files with corresponding tiffs, each in seperate bins. They both can be imported seperately into track S1 of DVDSP4. File STL 1 starts from the beginning of the track, file STL 2 with an offset from the middle of the film, as it should. Works fine seperate, but as these files are both English subs I want them to be in one track (s1) together.
Here is my question; after having imported file STL 1 in subtitle track S1, all these subtitles are gone from the track the moment I import file STL 2 in this same subtitle track S1. I now only see the subtitles of STL 2 in S1!? How to import both files in S1????

being fairly new to the STL thing, this is how I would approach your problem...
first - duplicate your docs.
open the two copies of the stl files in "text edit" side by side.
start at the top of the page and compare each file line for line.
when you get to the first line that is different, stop.
select everything above that in the document that goes in the second position, and delete.
"select all" in that second document and "copy".
go to the very end of the document that belongs in the first position and paste.
save as XXXXX.stl (or whatever your file was) and continue merrily along your way.

How do I get CDs that have been imported into my iTunes library to sync/transfer to my iPhone?? All the material that I purchased from iTunes has transferred just fine, but although the CDs will import to iTunes, they will not sync up with my phone. How do I do this?? Well, I installed the latest iTunes this AM, works perfectly. Although for some reason it did lock up after playing a song today.

The issue you are experiencing is one that has occurred in multiple versions of iTunes, a simple search would have revealed this.
A simple search was conducted, no one seemed to have an answer. Do you always adopt such a haughty attitude? Or was I just lucky. -
How can I increase the speed of importing audio cds into my iTunes library? On my old Dell PC cds imported at 30-35x, but my new iMac (using the Apple Superdrive) is trudging along at 8-10x. Any suggestions?

Not sure you can do anything about this. I get vaiable import speeds - a lot depends on the actual disc. The Read Write spec is 24X but I rarely see speeds close to this.

hello there i'm new to mac so sort o flost as well. i was trying to import my cds to itunes but something goes wrong all the time...pfff. either it starts tu devide my albums into separate chunks of 1-3 songs, so instead of 1 complete album i get 5 for example randomly packed with the songs. i figured it must be a setting in the itunes preferences causing the problem; i've changed something, dunno what, now i have the album in 1 but the song are randomly placed on it not in numerical order...pfff again! anyone an idea? sorry guys, must be a stupid question, but as i was saying before i'm just new to the apple.
thanx!!If you want the tunes imported in the correct order so that the ripped tunes play in the same order as the CD then resort the CD using the number column on the left side of the window so that the last song of the CD is imported first and the first tune on the CD is imported last. Do not import or add any other tunes while you are ripping the CD. If the CD has multiple disks then rip the second/last disk first and the 1st disk last.
This is how I do it as my preferred view is by date added.

Import multiple CDs into i tunes ?
I am new to i tunes and yesterday purchased a (2cd)album from i tunes all ok.
I am trying to import one of my own albums that also has 2 CDs. Can someone give advise as to how i get "all" tracks from the 2 CDs onto the one album.Hope i have explained this ok as at the moment when i put the 2 CDs in one after the other they create 2 albums.

I notice on the screen print that you provided along the top it shows top left as follows, artwork,name,disk,track,artist,album.
Mine shows-name,time,artist.genre.
When i open i-tunes and click on music i get my albums but "TWO" albums of the same, one with tracks 1-12 and the other with tracks 1-17.
I am still confused as to how i get to open "music" and just see the one album but with all the tracks of both CDs on it.

IPhone won't play music imported from CDs or mp3s not downloaded from itunes
When I first downloaded iOS 7, all of the music I had in my iTunes synched to my iPhone, but now new CDs I just imported and previous songs I imported from CDs won't synch (I've tried over wifi and usb). When I click on songs on my phone that were from CDs, they look as if they are going to play and then skip immediately. Mp3s I downloaded do the same thing. Mind you, everything was working fine until updating to iOS 7.0.4. I've been looking around the forums and have found that problems like this are relatively common and it's a shame Apple hasn't done anything to fix it.
When my phone is hooked up and I click on "on this iPhone", it says the music from CDs and mp3s is on, but the titles come up gray with these litte circle things next to them
Just checking now, I noticed some songs I bought from iTunes are doing the same thing.
I tried manually synching, but when I click to drag the songs into my phone, the section that has music, movies, etc. just flashes and nothing happens. I know something is wrong because I just put a ringtone onto my phone the same way.
Oh, I also noticed that when my iPhone is synching and the steps go through at the top it skips steps 3, 4, and sometimes 5 (The Apple symbol pops up instead then goes straight to 6 and 7) so I know it's not recognizing the fact I put a bunch of new music in iTunes. Also, when I look at the bar at the bottom that shows how much memory is on my phone, this shows up:
and that Documents and Data thing was not there before.
Can someone please give me ideas on how I can stop this rediculousness without buying a new phone?Did you already try the suggestions mentioned in this article?

Somebody PLEASE help me.... I keep getting the "itunes has stopped working" error when I import cd's and that it's checking windows for help. That's it! It doesn't tell me how to fix it. Apple stores or the phone support has been ZERO help. I just need to reinstall all these cds that were lost when I plugged in my new ipod to my new computer!!!

I have always imported my cds (including books) into iTunes using one step called "join cd tracks" which is under the "Advanced" menu. Never a problem. But today I was importing a 10 disc book and on the 7th disc all of a sudden the choice to join cd tracks was greyed out. I have tried it with other discs. No luck. How can I get to this option again. I was not doing anything different so don't know what took away this choice. Can anyone help me?

after further days of trying finally, solved it for me Yesterday.
turned off notifications when locked, and bingo, wow.
i have not turned off iCloud but location services are also off.
best thing to do I found was keep checking your usage, settings, general, usage, and flip down to bottom, if the standby and usage are similar there is a problem, if there is a big difference then all is ok. Just keep turning things off and on until the difference is very apparent.
something on my phone was keeping the phone alive even when turned off, and I think this was the phone repeatedly trying to update continually.
to me this is definitely down to the iOS, my wife has exactly same phone and iOS but hers doesn't have any problem and the battery lasts for days.
the guy at the Genius Bar told me to restore the phone via iTunes, not iCloud. This is because iCloud remembers the exact info from your phone and simply reinstates it when you restore, and this includes the iOS too.
when I get home from holidays that's what I'll do, or wait for iOS 8 in few weeks. But I'm so pleased I finally made it work, I was beginning to think ditch the phone and buy Samsung.
