How to import DW4 sites to nu DW4 installation?

Question

I have a new computer. My old DW4 program files are still on
my disk in a directory called "Old C Drive," but now I'm using a
newly installed DW4. All the images and html files are on the new
computer too, in the same locations as before. I want to work with
my sites using the newly installed DW, but I can't seem to get
anywhere. I can open the old site html files with the new DW4
installation, but I'm NOT GETTING ANY SITE INFO. The Help menu said
I should export my old site to an XML file before I can import it,
but I don't know which files to export, or whether my new DW4
installation can export them. Seems strange that I should have to
export a file and then import it, both with the same program!
Anyhow, I'm totally lost. Can somebody help me get started? Thanks.

All my old files have been transferred to my new computer,
which is using the same physical disks as my old computer. The data
files that were in my D and E drives, including my site files, are
on the same disks as before; the old programs and the data files
that were on the C drive are now in a folder called OldCdrive. (I
assume that's where the site data now resides.) So I'm working from
a newly installed DW4 program. I can use it to see my site http
files on my D drive, but they aren't in a site per se.

When I go to Edit Sites, I've been leaving the default
"Unnamed Site 1" designation. Then, when I close that, I see the
Edit Site window. When I select Import, I can see my site files.
When I select Export, the window is blank and there's no way to
browse for files. (I'm not sure what you mean when you say "site
def." Are you referring to the http, image and notes files?)
Should I set up a new site with the same parameters as the
old one? I can do that, and then import all the http and image
files. That makes sense to me, but I'm afraid I'll make a real
mess, especially since I understand I'm supposed to export site
files before importing them. That
doesn't make sense to me, since they're perfectly good http
and data files, ready to go.
Right now I'm in a real bind, since I can't use DW to get to
my online site. So your help is greatly appreciated.
