How to import iMovie (iPhone version) to iMovie 11(Mac version 9.04)?

I filmed some video using my iPhone 4s using the iPhone version of iMovie.  How can I transfer this movie to the iMovie 11 on my Mac?
I've hooked the iPhone up to the Mac, but I am unable to see the phone as a video camera option in iMovie.  Also, while I was able to download photos to iPhoto, I do not see the video in iPhoto.  I also see the phone in iTunes, but again, I do not see the video anywhere.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Note, I have a 2011 MBA that is running 10.7.3
The iPhone is running running iOS 5.1.  The phone says all software is up to date.
Thanks in advance for the help!
John Mc

Dang, that's a letdown. I was just revisiting some movies I hadn't touched in years with the idea to finalize them in the newest version. They show up as a "Unix Executable"
This from the iMovie help
*Only the raw video is imported; any additions or changes you’ve made to the video in your project are not imported:*...
*All transitions are replaced by cross dissolves.*
*None of the titles or effects that were applied to the video are transferred to the new project.*
*None of the music is transferred to the new project.*
Maybe I'll finish them in iMovieHD

Can someone please provide instructions on how to import an iPhoto library from an old Mac to a new Mac without getting a bunch of duplicates?  I tried transferring my pictures using an external hard drive and then copying it to the Pictures folder on my new Mac.  I ended up getting a bunch of duplicates. My old Mac has an older version of iPhoto while the new Mac has iPhoto '11.  Is that the cause of the problem?  Please advise.  Thanks.

Simply copy the iPhoto Library from the Pictures Folder on the old Machine to the Pictures Folder on the new Machine.
    Then launch iPhoto. That's it.
This moves photos, events, albums, books, keywords, slideshows and everything else.

  • How to import old iPhone SMS.CSV file into new iPhone?

    Hey everyone,
So I've spent a couple days on this as I just upgraded to the iPhone5S from my 4S.  Long story short, my backup restore didn't work after multiple tries (gave me the file is corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone error).
    I tried:
    -reinstalling itunes
    -updating itunes
-combining the 5S backup with the old 4S backup
    -tinyumbrella
and a few of other things as I've forgot now.
The most important things I needed was the contact list and SMS history.  I've got the contact list from extracting is successfully from the iTunes backup folder and using iCloud, but cannot figure out how to import the SMS.CSV file into my iPhone5S.
Any suggestions on how I can get my SMS messages from my iPhone4s into my 5S?
If anyone has any other suggestions on getting my Backup Restore to work that would be awesome too!
    Thanks!

A word on SMS text messages. It is pracitcally impossible to import an SMS text-messages file to a new iPhone and have the Messages app on the new device read the messages.
You can transfer, however contacts and other individual data (such as calendars and notes) from one iphone to the next. I had my old Nokia which whose contacts I exported to a CSV file. I then imported the file to my iphone which converted the file into multiple contacts in the Contacts app on the iphone. You can use a contact management app such as this one in order to import the contact file to the new iPhone.

  • How to import mailboxes from Time Machine to new Mac

I had Time Machine backing up our old G5. We got a Mac Pro back in November and I never was able to import the mail from the G5 to the Mac Pro so I left it alone and just kept using mail on the old G5. Well, the G5 took a dump last monday. I currently have the Time Machine backup for that computer connected to our Mac Pro (but not using it as backup yet). So, the mail from the G5 should be on the Time Machine backup right? If so, can I import it into Mail on the Mac Pro?
I also pulled one of the hard drives from the G5 and have it in the Mac Pro in the 2nd bay just to make sure that HD wasn't dead. It works fine and I tried importing the .mbox files from that drive but it appears that all the mail on that particular drive are from like 2006. So, again, I need to find out how to import mail from the Time Machine drive. Any thoughts?

Oooooh.... launching time machine while holding down option......
Edit again.... I don't have a Time Machine menu because that disk is not currently set up as time machine for the Mac Pro yet. I don't want to use it as a backup for this computer yet. I just want to be able to pull some of the backed up contents from it until I'm set.

  • How can I encode my film sequences, using OSX Mac version of Premiere Pro & Media Encoder? for WMV

Hello Everyone, I have a slight issue. I'm runnning CS6 Premiere Pro and adobe media encoder both on the Mac OSX system. I'm trying to encode or output my file as a WMV so it can be used using the Window media player on the PC windows. I can't find the option to do that. Strangely, I have seen this setting on the Window version of CS suite and can't understand why it has been excluded from the MAc version. Please can someone advise in some detail on how to encode the for WMV using the MAC version of the Creative Suite? Much appreciate. And no I don't know what losslessly compressed master means as mentioned in a previous forums. PLEASE HELP. THANKS GUYS.

You need a plugin called Flip4Mac to create a wmv on a Mac
    It plugs in to Quicktime.
WMV is generally unavailable on MAcs cos its a Windows thing ( Windows Media Video)
just like PorRes is not available generally on a Windows system.

  • How to import .iaf files into Outlook 2011 for mac?

I exported emails from Outlook Express (PC) to .iaf files years ago and now need to access them on a mac. I have downloaded Office for mac 2011 but can't work out how to import them into Outlook 2011.
Can it be done? Any suggestions would be hugely helpful.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
We can import .iaf files in Outlook 2010 using the following method:
    Start Outlook 2010.
On the File menu, click Import and Export.
Click the Advanced tab, and then click Export.
Click Import Internet Mail Account Settings, and then click
    Next.
Follow the Internet Connection Wizard to complete the import process.
But, I don't know if we can do this in Outlook for Mac 2011. Since this forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook for Windows, it's better to post Mac related issue to the forum for Mac:

  • Transfer Windows version of Photoshop to Mac version

Is it possible to get the key for a Mac version of Photoshop Extended(Student's and teacher version) if I already got the Windows version?
I have only downloaded it once on my PC.
    If yes then how?

Hello, if you have Photoshop CC, you can also install and activate a copy on a second machine that is not the same operating system.
If you have CS6, the two machines must be of the same platform. If you decide to switch from PC to Mac (but not both), request a license transfer: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/transfer-product-license.html

  • PC version of OnLocation with Mac version of Production Premium CS5

I'm asking this question for a friend of mine who just received the Mac version of the Production Premium CS5 bundle. He edits using a Mac, but does his field work on a PC (predominantly using a laptop for P2 offloading). I use all PC, so I don't know how the cross-platforming works, but he was wondering if it's possible to install a Windows version of OnLocation on his laptop, or if one is even available a la carte. I know the license provides for multiple installs of OnLocation in your given platform that are separate/additional to your two given installs of the bundle, but is there even this availability for cross-platform workflows?

Would it be possible to upgrade my CS5 version to CS6, then perform a cross-platform exchange?
Yes, you just purchase the CS6 upgrade version for Mac, enter your Mac CS6 Upgrade serial number then enter your Windows CS5 serial number.
How to Move Adobe CC or CS6 Between Computers, or PC to Mac | ProDesignTools
"Good news! It’s simpler now with CS6, you can easily change platforms when upgrading as normal – just select the correct operating system when purchasing the upgrade. Then when you install that upgrade software on your new platform, it will ask for the serial number of your previous version from the other platform.  For example, if you currently own Photoshop CS5 on Windows and want to get Photoshop CS6 on Mac, then just buy the CS6 upgrade for Mac OS, and manually enter the serial number for your older Windows version when installing it."

  • CS6 Master Collection - Own a PC version, but need a Mac Version

Can I download a Mac version of CS6 Master Collection for my new Mac Pro? I own a PC version on my desktop, but I want to be able to use it on my Mac Pro too. I'm afraid you'll have to ask Adobe.
Some software is multi-platform, the majority is single platform.
Lightroom is multi-platform. So are all Creative Cloud apps.
Creative Suite apps are all single platform and always have been since the Creative Suites first launched in 2003. Prior to that the standalone apps (Photoshop etc) were all single platform licenses. So multi-platform licenses are relatively recent for Adobe.

  • Any 3rd party version of Epson's Mac version of Print CD?

I've used the Print CD application on my Epson printer (Photo R300) for 2 years now on the PC. Easy and intuitive to use. I have just recently moved over to the iMac, and of course I want to use the same printer, and also be able to use the Print CD application for labeling my CD/DVDs. No problem, the Epson comes with a Mac version of the printer driver and the Print CD software.
Installing and setting up the printer with my iMac was a piece of cake, but WHAT THE ****?! The Mac version of the Print CD software is a complete joke. Awkward and fiddly, and feels as though it was coded as a afterthought by Epson. It is so bad that at the moment I am using Parallels just to be able to use the PC version!
Does anyone know if there is a 3rd party Mac version of this software available?

I filed a bug report/feature request on Apples ADC site. Ticket #6198989.
I have called all of the major VPN solution providers and they all seem to agree that they cant make a VPN solution to run as needed because of the way the Login Window works. I have called Cisco, Birdsoft (VPN-X) and Equinux (VPN Tracker). None of them have a Mac solution that I need. But these vendors do have Windows solutions that are exactly what I need.
Many of my new Mac laptop users were previously running Windows on Dell laptops. The Cisco IPSec client for Windows DOES integrate with the Windows XP login window, and thus they used to be able to log into the LAN via VPN before logging into the PC, and thus they could authenticate to the AD DC's and sync/reset passwords as needed, just as if they were physically in their office on the LAN. Now that those Windows users have "converted" to Mac OS X and Apple MacBook Pros, they are getting frustrated that I can't provide a similar VPN experience for them, and now AD passwords have become a hot-button issue.

  • How to get iMovie version 9.09/2009 Mac version 10.7.5 to recognize JVC GR-DX77U camcorder via 9 pin to 4 pin firewire and import video

My question: Is it possible to get iMovie version 9.09/2009 MacBook Pro/ Mac Os X version 10.7.5 to recognize JVC GR-DX77U camcorder via 9 pin to 4 pin firewire and import video?
My camcorder is recognized with 4 pin to 4 pin firewire on laptop with Windows operating system; however, it will not recognize on MacBook Pro with 9pin to 4 pin firewire. JVC website does not offer any updated camcorder driver software for this camcorder and older version driver on CD will not download onto MacBook Pro.

    Hi
With the reservation of that I us:
    • iMovie 9.0.4
    • Mac OS X.6.9
    see my notes
    NO CAMERA or A/D-box
    Cable
    • Are You sure that You are using the FireWire Cable - USB-Cable will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin (or 9-pin) FW one ?
    • Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
    Camera
    • Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
    • Toggle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on <-> off some times)
    • Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
    • Camera connected to "charger" (mains adaptor) - not just on battery
    • Camera set in Playback mode - NOT Recording mode
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK e.g. recording and playback to TV)
    A/D-box
    • Is the dip-switches set right ?
    • Set to same standard as recorded/editing e.g. NTSC 29.97fps or PAL 25fps
    • Try resetting it
    Connections
    • Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
    • FireWire-port - Can be re-setted by - Turn off Mac and disconnecting Mac from Mains/Power for 20-30 minutes
    External device’s (hard disk’s)
    • Should be FireWire as USB/USB2 performs badly and so does Airport or Net-work connected ones too.
    • MUST BE - Mac OS Extended formatted - UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - DO NOT WORK for video due to 4Gb barrier.
    Mac
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
    (Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minimum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited. No Camera or A/D-box
    • GarageBands fix - Close iMovie, Open GarageBand, Play some notes, Close GB and iMove can now be OK
    • Does Your Mac have a FireWire Port
    • White MacBooks - don't
    • MacBook-Air - don't
if not then a few Mac’s has a PCM-CIA slot and there are FW-Cards that makes a FW-port this way
    else - NO SOLUTION
Only option as I get it is either
    • Use another Mac to Capture material (to an external USB2 - Mac OS Extended formatted hard disk - or -
    • Change to another Camera that can be used with Your Mac (no there are no miniDV tape Cameras that can)
    • If Your Mac-Book has a PCM-CIA Card place - then there are FW-port-Cards and then
You can import via this - but I've not seen this on more modern Macs. My PowerBook G4
has one and this FW-Card-port works greatly.
    SoftWare
    • Delete iMovie pref. file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
    • Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
    • FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
    • Screen Saver - OFF
    • Energy Saver - OFF
    Using WHAT versions ? .
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie’08 (7.1.?), 09 or 11 ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
Other ways to import Your miniDV tape
    • Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
    • If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE   Mac OS Extended   formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpful insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After un-installing Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.

What I exactly did.- put camera in play mode - open guide - choose connection guide - choose comp./printer (where to transfer movie to) - select connection.- i-link (on my camera) but equal to firewire - OK - choose HDV - choose NO for conversion of i.link.
Settings are shown then (VCR HDV/DV.- HDV and i.link-conv..- OFF), press OK, OK, END.
Switch camera off. Connect firewire cable to camera & Mac. Switch camera on, in play/edit mode.
Open i-movie, choose import from camera. On screen below the camera connection is shown.- DV (HDV). Now you can import, automatically or manually.
This worked perfectly for me. Took me 2 days to find out. Could not find any clear thread explaining what I had to do on the camera and the manual was not clear either.
