How to import large library of .wav files into itunes with tags?

I have an external NAS drive where I imported approximately 400 CDs in .wav format utilizing itunes many years ago. My itunes library was recently corrupted requiring a reinstall of itunes. The .wav files are preserved and are filed by Artist folders containing Album subfolders which contain the tracks listed by number and name. The problem is when I reimport the files into itunes the artist and album name is lost leaving only the track name, which makes it impossible to organize a library of music.
I would like to batch process and import the .wav files on my NAS drive into itunes in either a high-quality mp3 or AAC format with the songs tagged correctly to allow for an organized and searchable library. I would rather not have to reburn all of the CDs since that required substantial time and effort.
I welcome any solution to this problem.

itunes can't do what you want. It will do exactly what you said, lose everything, because wav files don't have ID3 tags. And, I suspect it dumps it all into an "Unknown Album" subfolder under "Unknown Artist".
You can try the tagFromFileName script on this page, brought to you by an apple discussion forum regular turingtest2. I have not used it myself, but have seen posts from several people happy with the results!

  • Cannot import WAV files into itunes with 8.01!

Although I see posts in this category, this question has not been answered. iTunes 8 and 8.01 have lost a critical capability compared to iTunes 7. I have an Olympus digital voice recorder that I like to download to my ipod. I could do this before 8.01! Now I cannot!
Are you working on a solution?

  • I cannot import 5.1 WAV files into iTunes

    Hello
I'm running iTunes 11.1.5 (5) 64 bit on OSX 10.9.2. I'm trying to import some wav files into iTunes, they are about 6-11 minutes long each, they have 5.1 (6 total) channels, 16 bit depth and are sampled at 48,000 kHz. I can run them in QuickTime Player 10.3 (727.3) without any problems, but iTunes will not run them. This stil happens if I try to import the same files when they are in Apple Lossless format as well. I have several other surround sound files sourced from other stuff and they wil not import either, but they still run in Quicktime Player just fine. I don't have any pluging installed for iTunes or QuickTime Player. Does iTunes just not support surround sound audio, or is there something wrong with the files that I'm trying to import?

    Hi Michael,
I bounced a PCM 5.1 WAV Audio File from Logic Pro X, This File alredy plays 5.1 surround from desktop just with the space bar preview and also with QuickTime ok? But Itunes 11 doesn´t import PCM 5.1 (multi) Wav audio files as you know, so I Knew that in the Itunes 11 for the movies tracks the 5.1 surround audio is automatic.See this link below
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4072 -
    What I did?
I just imported my audio file to Apple COMPRRESSOR, and choose the H.264 output format and I changed from .MOV to .MP4 (This one Itunes import with multi audio 5.1)
and also select 48 Khz and 720 Kbps. After encoding my audio file from ( 226 Mb) PCM 5.1 Wav about 4.20'  went to a AAC 6 channes 48 Khz / 720 Kbps  .MP4 file with 24 Mb size. Itunes import withou problem and played 5.1 surround as I wish.
I hope you understood my explanation,
    Regards
    Paulo

  • How To Split Large Excel or CSV Files into Smaller Files

Does anyone know how to split a large Excel or CSV file into multiple smaller files?  Or, is there an app that will work with Mac to do that?

    split [-a suffix_length] [-b byte_count[k|m]] [-l line_count] [-p pattern] [file [name]]
is a native Terminal command. Read up more on https://developer.apple.com/library/mac/documentation/Darwin/Reference/ManPages/ man1/split.1.html
I prefer to use gSplit which is gnu coreutils.
You can install gnu coreutils using homebrew.

  • Can't import WAV files into iTunes

I have ripped most of my music to WAV files but iTunes refuses to import them. Neither the add folder function, the add file function, nor the drag and drop will add them. It does absolutely nothing.
Anybody know how to get around this problem?

It's not altering the file. It's simply playing back different.
    iTunes prefs -> Playback.
Untick Sound Check, Sound Enhancer and Cross Fade playback.
Go to menu View -> Show Equalizer and set it to Off.

  • Importing wav. files into itunes on MAC OSX

I have a question, hope someone has the answer.
I am a new mac owner, new ipod owner too.
I currently have 200-300 gigabytes of SHN and FLAC files on my PC (mostly grateful dead soundboard recordings).
I am planning on converting these files to WAV. format with "artist", "album" (show date), and "song" ID tags.
I then plan on copying these WAV. files to my imac or separate external hard drive formatted for MAC OSX.
    OK THE QUESTION (finally, no?),
When WAV. files are imported into itunes are they automatically converted to the MP4 AAC format?
I have looked in the itune PREFERENCES menu I go to ADVANCED and see that there is a control for switching file formats for importing CD'S but there is no mention of importing WAV. files.
On another note it is too bad that Apple has not come up with a file conversion utility for itunes, where FLAC, SHN, and WAV. files could be converted to MP4AAC, Apple Losless, etc...
I appreciate any answers to my question, and also comments regarding the general subject of audio file conversion on the MAC OSX.
    Thanks

    Hi,
Firstly, I must point out that WAV doesn't support tagging, so there is no point in converting your compressed FLAC and SHN files to WAV before making the move over to a Mac.
Rather, it would make more sense to use the free and excellent Max to convert all these files automatically to the format of your choice, such as Apple Lossless. You can even run multiple conversions simultaneously, so you could, say, convert your whole lot of files to Apple Lossless while at the same time convert the same lot to AAC for use on your iPod. The program is highly configurable, allowing you to specify destination directories and whether or not the output files are added directly to your iTunes library. Also, the tagging will be preserved when converting FLAC and SHN files to supported formats.

  • How to import old Contacts Card Data files into 10.8.5 Contacts app

My old Snow Leopard Macbook died but its hard drive lived.
I was able to find the Address Book contacts but they are in a format that the new Contacts app doesn't recognize.
Its kind is "Contacts Card Data" and each file ends with ".abcdp".
How can I import these files into the new Contacts app? Contacts does not seem to want them. Do I need to convert them to v.card?
    Thanks.

I've had no exposure to 10.8 or even 10.7, but the following should work, with 'AddressBook' replaced by 'Contacts'. (It's copied from https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1436528. It worked for me in 10.6.8.)
    Quit Address Book.
Make a copy of folder ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook in case anything goes wrong.
    Delete AddressBook-v22.abcddb from ~/Library/Application Support/.
Put your abcdp files in folder ~/Library/Application Support/MetaData.
    Restart Address Book.

  • How to import data from a text file into a table

    Hello,
I need help with importing data from a .csv file with comma delimiter into a table.
I've been struggling to figure out how to use the "Import from Files" wizard in Oracle 10g web-base Enterprise Manager.
I have not been able to find a simple instruction on how to use the Wizard.
I have looked at the Oracle Database Utilities - Overview of Oracle Data Pump and the Help on the "Import: Files" page.
Neither one gave me enough instruction to be able to do the import successfully.
Using the "Import from file" wizard, I created a Directory Object using the Create Directory Object button. I Copied the file from which i needed to import the data into the Operating System Directory i had defined in the Create Directory Object page. I chose "Entire files" for the Import type.
Step 1 of 4 is the "Import:Re-Mapping" page, I have no idea what i need to do on this page. All i know i am not tying to import data that was in one schema into a different schema and I am not importing data that was in one tablespace into a different tablespace and i am not R-Mapping datafiles either. I am importing data from a csv file.
For step 2 of 4, "Import:Options" page, I selected the same directory object i had created.
For step 3 of 4, I entered a job name and a description and selected Start Immediately option.
What i noticed going through the wizard, the wizard never asked into which table do i want to import the data.
I submitted the job and I got ORA-31619 invalid dump file error.
I was sure that the wizard was going to fail when it never asked me into which table do i want to import the data.
I tried to use the "imp" utility in command-line window.
After I entered (imp), i was prompted for the username and the password and then the buffer size as soon as i entered the min buffer size I got the following error and the import was terminated:
    C:\>imp

Please show me the easiest way to import a text file into a table. How complex could it be to do a simple import into a table using a text file?
We are testing our application against both an Oracle database and a MSSQLServer 2000 database.
I was able to import the data into a table in MSSQLServer database and I can say that anybody with no experience could easily do an export/import in MSSQLServer 2000.
I appreciate if someone could show me how to the import from a file into a table!

  • How to import old iPhone SMS.CSV file into new iPhone?

    Hey everyone,
So I've spent a couple days on this as I just upgraded to the iPhone5S from my 4S.  Long story short, my backup restore didn't work after multiple tries (gave me the file is corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone error).
    I tried:
    -reinstalling itunes
    -updating itunes
-combining the 5S backup with the old 4S backup
    -tinyumbrella
and a few of other things as I've forgot now.
The most important things I needed was the contact list and SMS history.  I've got the contact list from extracting is successfully from the iTunes backup folder and using iCloud, but cannot figure out how to import the SMS.CSV file into my iPhone5S.
Any suggestions on how I can get my SMS messages from my iPhone4s into my 5S?
If anyone has any other suggestions on getting my Backup Restore to work that would be awesome too!
    Thanks!

A word on SMS text messages. It is pracitcally impossible to import an SMS text-messages file to a new iPhone and have the Messages app on the new device read the messages.
You can transfer, however contacts and other individual data (such as calendars and notes) from one iphone to the next. I had my old Nokia which whose contacts I exported to a CSV file. I then imported the file to my iphone which converted the file into multiple contacts in the Contacts app on the iphone. You can use a contact management app such as this one in order to import the contact file to the new iPhone.

  • How to import the .exp/XPDL/XSDL file into ALBPM Studio 5.7

    Hi,
Can somebody tell how to import the .exp file that are developed in ALBPM Studio 6.0/Oracle BPM 10g r3 into ALBPM 5.7. I have tried but can not able to import the project as the file suported by ALBPM 5.7 is <.fpr.exp>. I have also tried to import the XPDL/XSDL file developed in 6.0 to 5.7 but can not able to do so. It is importing the file but the only the automatic activities are showing in workspace (All the other activities like Interactive, Grab etc are not displayed). The code inside that automatic activities are also not there.
How to import the file/files in ALBPM 5.7
    Regards,
    Bibhu

    Hi Bibhu,
I expect importing a project to an older version of BPM isn't going to work or be supported.
Most products are built to be backwards compatabile, not forwards compatible.
I recommend you go to one version of the product anyway - trying to maintain two adds to your maintenance and support overheads.
In which case migrating your processes from 5.7 to 6.0 (or even 10g) would be supportable and the best way to go.
    Rgrds,
    Ian

  • Importing a wav file into iTunes

I get voice mail forwarded to email in the form of a .wav file. It will not play back on my MacBook (1st generation black). If I import it into iTunes (drag n drop) it looks like it accepts but nothing happens. Why?

The WAV files produced by voice recorders are low bit-rate WAVs, quite different from CD-quality WAVs.
I do not know exactly what the problem is, but I can tell you that since iTunes 8 came out, this forum often gets complaints about iTunes not properly handling low bitrate WAV files.
Personally I would get a 3rd party conversion tool and make them into MP3s, but maybe someone has a better idea.

  • How to import image, html and other files into your siteroot

    Hi!
I teach basic web development at a highschool. They've been
using GoLive before I came along and they all stuggle to adapt and
understand why DW doesn't support a simple "add" or "import" files
    within the program.
And frankly neither do I. For most user new to DW the
intuitive way to add files to the root folder is to:
-Right click the siteroot window (files tab) > add files
    -File menu > add/import files
All of these could easily make a duplicate html, png, rar or
whatever file and put it into the site root without leaving the
application. Just a simple adjustment to make life easier for all
    DW rookies.
    Dont you agree?
Well, until anything changes, the fast way to control your
siteroot folder is still outside DW and in your files/folders of
your OS, right? Or drag and drop files into the site root also
    works great.

    > and they all stuggle to adapt and understand why DW

It doesn't need it. Just copy the files into the root folder
    and DW will
    see them.
    > Dont you agree?
    No.
    > the fast way to control your siteroot folder is

    right?
Yes - but you can do it all inside DW too. Note that at the
    very top of
your site list in the Files panel you have access to
    everything on your hard
drive.... You can copy and paste from that.

  • Convert wav files into iTunes

    Okay this is the challenge.
Have both PC and Macs but have a huge library of music on my PC.
Need to convert it for use in iTunes.
Pretty much I can figure that out but I also want all the album information too.
So the question is do I install iTunes on the PC and import the files as Apple directs or is there a third party software that will convert it all to MP3 and then just import it into iTune on my Mac?
Any help would be great, thanks.
    Mark

If music quality is important to you dont convert wav to mp3, you lose a great deal of audio quality! You should be able to save your itunes library file and move all your songs over to your mac and then when you open itunes hold down the option key before you click the itunes icon. It will ask you to chose an itunes library. Then just locate the itunes library file you put on your mac and so long as all your music is in the same folder structure as it was on the previous computer it should all sync up.

  • How to import a BPEL project zip file into jdeveloper?

This worked for me before, but I seem to be doing something wrong this time.
I tried the File -> Import ->BPEL process option and navigated to the location of the .bpel file (after I extracted the .zip file contents). But this didn't seem to work as the entire project wasn't imported.
