You can still import Flash video files into AME CC 8.x, just drag them to the Queue panel and set the Format to H.264

Why cant I encode a .mov using Adobe Media Encoder CC to .mp4 or .ogv to use in Edge?

Yeah, mp4 in HTML5 browsers is h.264 encoded - h.264 is a subset of MPEG-4 standard. More info here:
H.264/MPEG-4 AVC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For ease of use in AME, if you look at the right side of the UI in the presets, the Web Video > YouTube presets are the ones that will encode to h.264 with the mp4 extension.

  • How do I reinstall missing Adobe Media Encoder CS3 ?

I need some help here ??
When attempting to encode on Vista from Premiere 3.2 the Adobe Media Encode (AME) just goes off and hangs.
Looked for the error log which lives at
    C:\Users\user\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Media Encoder\4.0\AMEEncodingErrorLog.txt
Make sure you have view hidden files turned on to look for this file..
Ok the folder "Adobe Media Encoder" is not on my machine... It looks like the installation is FUBAR.
I check CS3 Master Collection distribution - I don't see a module for Adobe Media Encoder to reinstall.
So my question is . How do I reinstall the "Adobe Media Encoder" for the CS3 collection ?
Anybody have a clue as how to do this ?
How do I reinstall the Adobe Media Encoder CS3 ?

    Mr Hunt...
I my view you're a wizzard with statute more than Merlin...
Here's what I found. Last time I shut down ProPre I was on a dual monitor.
I tossed my laptop in the car went to 2nd location.
Re-configured laptop for single monitor mode.
Upon starting up ProPre hammered encoding and the resulting screen opened ...... which I could not see.
PrePro DOES NOT sense hardware.... Dhaaaaaaaaa
Its stays stuck in dual monitor mode !!!!!
You need a second monitor to unstick it !!!!!
I was unable to set it back to single mode without the 2nd monitor !!!
Yahhoooo !!!! Its working again !!!!!

  • Cropping .mov with Adobe Media Encoder Problem????

I have a qt.mov that is 1920 by 1900, I needed to crop it down to 320 186. I did the conversion in Adobe Media Encoder using the same settings as the original movie. In QT the movie plays fine but when I embed it in the page and upload to the server the movie does not play as I would normally see the player then the stream and finally the movie. Any reason why this would be?
    RD

Went and got QT pro, I see that it has the streaming option, when I exported the file I chose streaming, uploaded the finished file and it works perfect.
    thx

  • WMV Won't Import in Adobe Media Encoder CS5

Have several WMV files known to be good (they playback fine in Windows Media Player etc.) but when i try to import any into Adobe Media Encoder CS5 it quickly reports "Error Compiling Movie Unknown Error"
I'm running Windows 7 version of AME. Anyone know a work around? I need to encode these to FLV so they can be easily viewed by most web browsers.

The above links are outdated since in 2010 the only encoder now provided by Microsoft is Expression Encoder 4, and the free version only exports VC-1 files. If you pay $49 to buy Expression Encoder 4 Pro it will convert WMV to H.264 which is natively supported in IE9. Microsoft Expression Encoder doesn't output to Flash. • Adobe Media Encoder FLV issue

I am posting this question here because there is no Adobe Media Encoder forum - sorry! My question is about file sizes. I created some videos in Premiere CS4. I need to convert the videos to FLV formats (they are to be used in an e-learning module that requires FLV files). However, I'm having trouble with the file sizes. At the rate it's going, I will max out our server space in no time.
To give an example, I have a 17 second video with an original frame size of around 720 x 480. When exported as a MOV file (high quality, etc.) it's about 66MB. I've tried creating the FLV straight from the Premiere project file, as well as separately, by running the MOV through Adobe Media Encoder and the results are just about the same. In either case, I can't get the file size anywhere below 1.8MB, which seems rather large for a web compressed 17 second video. The file size DOES NOT get smaller when rendering at the smaller frame size of about 300 x 220. Back when I used to use Sorenson Squeeze for web compression, changing the frame size like that would usually cut the video file size in half. Media Encoder leaves the file size the same...
I hadn't worked with video in a little while, so Adobe Media Encoder is new to me... but I asked my husband about this. He's a web developer and deals with video a lot. He said that he would take a MOV file, drop it into Flash Video Encoder and use the preset for FLV and it works great - a video that's this long should only be about a few hundred k in size (it's not a complicated/lots of transition video). Apparently Adobe Media Encoder has replaced Flash Video Encoder, so I don't have the option of trying it the other way... has anyone else run into this, and if so, do you have any tips?
    Thanks so much!

I'm having a similiar issue, my file orginally is only 10sec long and 13mb *.mpg file, the same as it was when I was converting in CS4, only back then, the convertion took maybe a minute and the output file size was about 1mb or smaller, and that was keeping the 640x480 size and removing audio.  Now with CS5, the estimated output size is anywhere from 2000-3000mb for starts, remove audio and scale back other settings and I can get it down to 70mb and takes a staggering 2.5hrs to complete...for a 10sec video.  I don't know what they changed between cs4 and 5 but they screwed up big time, this is a joke.  i'm on AME ver.  5.5.1.12(64-bit) if that makes any difference.  any idea or help would be greatly appreciated, I've got about 5 of these 10sec vids to convert a month and I need to get this fixed.

  • Can I output for flash 7 with adobe media encoder

Our Flash Player 7 needs to play this movie.
Adobe Media Encoder doesn't seem to give me many options for what Flash Player my output file will work with.
But I don't know much about video so maybe there's a way.
    Anyone know?

Look at it from the viewpoint of what codecs the player will accept, and proceed from there.

  • I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.

I cannot import .mov files to Premiere Pro or Adobe Media Encoder.
How do I around this problem?

We need to know a lot more if we're going to help you.
What happens when you try? Do you get an error message? If so, exactly what does it say?
What version of Premiere Pro? Have you installed the recent updates? What operating system?
Does this happen for all .mov files or just some? Has this ever worked before? What version of QuickTime do you have installed?
Here's a page written for After Effects, but the information is relevant to Premiere Pro and AME, too:

  • How to Import .MOV files in Adobe After Effects, I am Using Canon 700d for FilmShooting

    Hello,
I have Just brought a canon 700d and started Shooting HD Movies but now i want to add some effects in my video E.G. Twixtor effect for slow motion but I am facing a problem that i cannot import .MOV file in Adobe AE CS4. Please help me. Also If you can tell me any free converter for .MOV to AF file format.
I am using Windows 8 OS.
    Thanks!

CS4 is much older than Windows 8. CS4 is meant to work on XP or Vista. Getting it to run on Windows 7 was a bit of an issue, so I'm pleasantly surprised to hear that you have CS4 running on Windows 8 at all.
It's also possible that a new camera records in a codec that such an old version of AE doesn't understand.
Make sure you're running the latest update to your version of AE. You're on version 9, so make sure you've run the Adobe After Effects CS4 9.0.3 Update (I would not suggest updating in the middle of a project though, as any changes might break AE). I would like to reiterate: you're running a version that was released six years ago on an operating system that was released much more recently. So, be careful how you tread. However, if you're not running 9.0.3, you're missing some bug fix updates that might solve your problem.
I would suggest upgrading to a newer version of AE.
That being said, as Dave mentions, CS4 and earlier had lots of trouble with MPEG-4 and other codecs that used interframe compression. Can you open the files in your version of Premiere? If so, you can use Premiere or the Adobe Media Encoder to convert to a proper intermediate codec. MOV is just a container format. QuickTime with the PNG codec will work in After Effects CS4 with no problems as will the other codecs Dave mentions.

  • ProRes 422 MOV files offline in Adobe Media Encoder 2014 (but online in Premiere)

The question is NOT about exporting PreRes files from a Windows PC, which is what I keep finding in my searches.
My client gave me ProRes 422 MOV files. I imported them into Premiere Pro CC 2014. I could see and edit them fine. But when I export them via Adobe Media Encoder, they appear to be offline. BTW, other media sources exported fine, such as the PNGs and JPGs I cut to. (I don't think it matters, but I'm attempting to make h.462 mp4s, which I do all the time, and have done with ProRes sources before using CC 2014.)
I tried exporting a short video clip (using same ProRes 422 source) from Premiere and it worked fine. Why not Adobe Media Encoder? I need to encode batches of videos with ProRes sources overnight, so exporting from Premiere is not a good option.
I'm on a Win 7 PC and I have QT Pro and iTunes (which I think also installs codecs).

Everything seems to be working fine now, though I don’t know why. I did update my iTunes (which I’d rather not even have installed on my PC because I never use it, but removing it seems to mess things up). I’ll also make sure to keep my QT updated. I thought it was because I upgraded to the paid version a couple months ago hoping to fix a similar problem, but again, it seemed to get fixed when I updated iTunes.
Thanks for getting back to me!
    Bill

  • Freezes when exporting .mov files in CS4 / Adobe Media Encoder

For the past 7 hours now I have been trying every internet remedy for the following problem, and was wondering if any of you nice people could help:
I just came back from a ski trip, and wanted to make an edit featuring my fiends. I recorded large parts of the trip on my new iPhone, both in 720p 120fps (120.15fps, h.264 1280*720) and the normal 1080p 30fps. iPhone files are in the .mov format. I also recorded some parts on a GoPro hero hd2 camera at both 720p 60fps and 1080p 30fps. GoPro files are in the MP4 format, and i've never had a probvlem with them.
Now all imports fine into premiere pro, and although I had a few problems with freezing while editing initially, this was quickly solved by terminating all unused (non-adobe) processes in task manager.
So I spent a good 4 hours making a 2.5 minute edit of our day, and wanted to export it.
So I selected the sequence, and went file>export>media, selected all of the preferences i wanted for exporting, and sent it to the Adobe media encoder.
The media encoder loads the files for a few seconds, and then starts the encoding process. And promptly freezes. It freezes at around 10-20 seconds (depending on export preferences) after starting to encode, and never restarts. i can then pause the encode, but cancelling it crashes adobe media encoder and subsequently also crashes Premiere Pro.
I may be mistaken here, but I have a strong suspicion that It is quicktime that is causing all this.
    So I tried the following:
    - reinstalling, downgrading, updating, etc. Quicktime
    - renaming file extensions from .mov to .mp4
    - all sorts of export preferences, from image sequences to dvd to blueray and dv. (Image sequences, interestingly, occasionally export to about half a minute into the video(also depending on preferences), then freeze)
    - crossing my fingers
    - checking for gaps in video, found none
    - updating premiere pro and media encoder
    - throwing my mouse at the wall in frustration
    - making a new project with different settings and copying in the sequence
    - disabling "Include source xmp metadata"
    - making a new user account and trying it there
Is there anything else I can try?
Could I copy the project itself into a different program (e.g. iMovie or Windows Movie Maker) and export from there?
Is there an alternative to Adobe media encoder?
    Need more information?
    Thanks for the help!
    Specs:
    Premiere version: 4.2.1
    Encoder version: 4.2.0.006
    Comp specs:
    16Gb ram
    quad core i5
256 Gb solid state (system, program files are here)
2TB HDD (video files, scratch disk are here)
    Nvidia gtx 660 graphics
    Windows 64 bit
    1 monitor

I bought quicktime pro today to try this, but to no avail. it just freezes up again during export.
I tried some other fixes on that page, like renaming files to .mpg extension, which worked once during an export of a test sequence (although everything was shifted and it cut off the export at the gopro footage).
Is there any way I can export this project to another program to export it from there perhaps?
    Thanks for the help!
