How to import movies to imovies

I have downloaded a movie converter to be able to download videos and movies but i have'nt been able to have no success. Please can any one help me out here.

Well, if you mean transfer movies from the iMovie events folder, go to that folder as in Finder-movies-imovie events, and drag a copy to your card.
Or, you could finish making the movie, and drag the .mov file from your desktop or wherever you have it.

  • How can I move my iMovie app to "purchased" in my appstore account???

how can I move my iMovie app to "purchased" in my appstore account???

I would not recommend that you move iMovie files to the Time Capsule. You will not get sufficient performance for editing. For this reason, iMovie does not show the Time Capsule as an attached drive within iMovie.
If you move these files using the Finder, you will likely make the projects unusable, because the links between the projects and events will be broken.
Use a locally attached external hard drive tha is formatted as Mac OS Extended (journaled).
See this User Tip for how to move the Events and Projects to a locally attached drive. (By locally attached, I mean a drive that is attached to your Mac via USB, Firewire, or Thunderbolt cables.)

Don't understand how to import movies on DVD/s to the iTunes library

If these are personal movies and you have the original files (that you created the DVDs from), use those instead. Converting to DVD then back reduces quality.
And as Skydiver119 noted, it is illegal to break the encryption on commercial DVDs, even if you own the DVD.

  • How do I import movies into Imovie from my HTC sensation?

I have an HTC sensation.  am trying to use I-movie for the first time.  My flip videos are all good, but the movies that i emailed to myself from my android are not compatible with i-movie (even though they are .mov files).  is there a program that can transfer them so they are usable in imovie?

    Did you try the
Menu Bar -> File -> Import -> Movies
command in iMovie?  From the dialog box, locate and select the movie (or movies) you want to import.

  • How do you import movies into iMovie?

    i have imovie'11 version 9.0.8
want to upload about 40 vidio clips to make a short film
I click on file > import > movies
then when i have found the folder I save to mactintosh hd and add to existing event which is new event
I have tried checking the box to optimise video to Large - 960 x 540 and also tried unchecking this box
    and I select copy files
after doing this I have left for at least 5 hours (both times, optimising and not) but nothing has happended and I have had to force quit imovie
the clips I am using are MPEG movie, dimentions 720 x 576

    I have the following situation:
    Source Computer:
    MacBook Pro
          Snow Leopard
          iMovie 11
    Destination Computer:
    iMac
         Mountain Lion
         iMovie 11
Our soccer coach took another job, but had created all kinds of iMovie projects on his MBP.  This was his own personal laptop, and we wanted the information transferred onto a school-owned Mac.  Tech copied the Movies folder under his user account to an external drive.  This folder contains all of the projects and events for the soccer season.
Copied the Movies folder to the Public folder of the local administrator's account on the destination computer.  Tech adjusted the permissions for everyone to read-write, and applied permissions to all contents within.
The problem is that from Finder, you can see all of the files - the .MOV files in the events folder, and you can see the projects thumbnails.  Double clicking on a project file opens iMovie, but nothing happens - iMovie opens with a blank project.
When clicking on File --> import movies...  you can see the project names, but they are all greyed out.  The events will import fine, but the projects will not.
I need help with this - i'm a novice at iMovie, and would like to get this situaion resolved.
    Thanks,
    Mark

  • Importing movies from iMovie 6

I followed the instructions in David Pogue's manual "imovie '08..The Missing Manual" but with no results.
I export the movie project from iMovie 6 in QuickTime, however when it appears on the desktop it is in the .mov format, not Quicktime.
So when I try to import it to iMovie '08 the project is on the desktop, but is dimmed.
I then tried to save the desktop movie (save as) in Quicktime, but the same thing happens. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

If you have any intention of creating DVDs from those projects, according to what I've been reading, don't do it. Use iMovie HD 06 and iDVD 09 to create your DVDs.
I've read that iMovie 09 is fine for posting videos online because of how it treats the export but 06 is the way to go to create content to be viewed on a TV.
I've read about this on these Apple boards and these boards: http://forums.macrumors.com/forumdisplay.php?f=80

  • TS3634 Help, how to importing video in iMovie'11

I am using the Sony Handycam HDR-HC 9
    OS X 10.8.4, MacBoo Pro early 2011
    iMovie'11
I want to import the video shot with the Handycam into iMovie. The cable I am using is iLink to FireWire 800.
When I put the camera mode in to edit/play and I plug in the cable I excpected to be able to import the HDV into the iMovie.
It does not work, and I must say not any more.
About 6 months ago I did import  video from the same camera to the sam iMovie Aplication on the same MacBook Pro
I could chose the import from and select the Handi cam etc. and I cpuld control from iMovie the handycam.
Recvently I wanted to import clips from the camera to my computer again and I was unableto do so.
In the iMovie app. I am unable to select the camera, in the view finder of the camera it only shows HDV in when I plug in the iLink cable.
The omly thing that has changed in the last 7 months since i last imported movie clips is OSX updates and iLive updates.
    could this be the reason?
If so how can I correct this and import clips again from the camera.
Will realy appreciated if anybody can help me solve this problem.
    Thank you.

    Ok
I tried that but no go.
In the handy cam viewer as soon as I plug in the cabe it shows HDV out iLink and immediatly changes to HDV in iLink. I assume that the cable is right than.
I have no possiblety jet to check the cable but it is only 6 months old and not used much.
The port on the MacBook pro is ok I used a firewire 800 external drive and it shows up an I can browse the disk.

  • Can't import .mov into imovie

    Hi,
I got a problem with imovie '09 which is rather puzzling.. I would like to import a video from my digital videocamera (Sony DCR TRV 19E) (which has no USB 2.0 port) on my macbook (which has no firewire port). Since I cannot connect the two, I imported the video on windows xp through movie maker. Then I opened the resulting .wmv file in quicktime and I saved it as .mov. Then I tried to import it in imovie but the file cannot be selected (and therefore imported).
I tried to save the file for web with quicktime and then to import it in imovie. It does work but the video has the flip4mac logo impressed on it (unless I purchase the pro version of quicktime). I also tried to use MPEG streamclip and iConvertX 4.0, but the the resulting files have the flip4mac logo impressed. Does anybody know how to fix the problem?
    thanks very much
    Diego

apparently Lacie doesn't sell such a cable anymore... http://www.lacie.com/us/products/range.htm?id=10045 ... in any case, as far as I know, these cables do not allow the transfer of video from a camcorder to a computer...
The Macbook doesn't have any expansion card slot unfortunately...

  • How to import .MOV files coming from everio camcorder ?

How can I import  .MOV files coming from everio camcorder to imovie ? All I've tried failed, iMovie doesn't want my files, or even recognize.
    All answer welcome.
    Thanx

JVC released the Quicktime Components update:
    <http://www2.cli.co.jp/products/ne/update_qtc_for_gzhd7/qtc3e_update.htm>
which should take care of TOD files playing in Quicktime, but:
The answer to your question depends on which model JVC camcorder you have.
    Here are a few basics:
    1. If you have a JVC HD Everio that records in the AVCHD high definition file format (.mts file extension), and you have an Mac with an Intel processor, (sound like you do) running iMovie '08 or '09, then it should  be no problem. Simply connect the camcorder via USB and launch iMovie.
    2. If you have a slightly older JVC HD Everio that records MPEG2 high definition (.tod file format), then it is easiest if you record in the special 1440CBR mode, and transfer your video to your Mac using an i.Link (Firewire Connection) using the "Playlist Dubbing" process which is explained in your owner's manual.

  • Importing movies to imovie

I have imovie 9. When I first got the laptop with imovie, I was importing movies just fine. Now when I try to import, the viewer screen inside the program does not show the video. Also when it is importing movies, the time meter does not run and the video is not being recorded. I am putting the movies on an external drive. I go to that drive and it shows the name of the video clip and the cache but there are no video clip recorded. Something has been turned off. How can it set it back to default setting without erasing my movies I have already imported or how do I fix the problem?

I've imported many movies from my MS Sony HDV camcorder.... right up until recently when now it seems only half my videos import.
The importing process always goes through as normal to the end, but instead of it generating the thumbnails, it just drops back to the importing window.
When I check the drive on Finder I can see the directory structure is all there, and sometimes the actual dot MOV file is there too, but not always. Even if it is though, the movie is not playable in iMovie 09. When I click on the directory it finds no movies.

  • How to import avchd in imovie

How to import 1080P AVCHD content in Imovie 11 ?

Situation 1 Does iMovie 10 for Mac support AVCHD files?
Though the new iMovie 10.0 for Mac OS X Mavericks/Yosemite claims the native support for AVCHD, its support for AVCHD is just the same as iMovie 11: iMovie can import and edit native AVCHD in 1080i 50/60, 720p 24/25/30, 1080p 24/25/30, but iMovie does not support AVCHD 1080p 50/60 or 720p 60.
That is, you will still fail to import AVCHD to iMovie 10/11/09/08/HD if the AVCHD footage recorded at 1080/60p, 1080/50p or 720/60p with whatever model of cameras or camcorders like Panasonic Lumix DMC, Panasonic HDC series, Canon XA20, Pana TZ7, Sony Alpha DSLR(SLT) Cameras, Sony HDR-PJ790 and etc.
Situation 2 Can iMovie for iOS iPad, iPhone or iPod import AVCHD?
The short answer is no. Normally, iMovie for iPad, iPhone or iPad only works with the video files recorded by the iOS devices in MP4, MOV or M4V format. And iMovie for iOS will not import AVCHD footages recorded with other cameras or camcorders.
In order to successfully import all kinds of AVCHD to iMovie for Mac or iOS, a recommended solution is convert AVCHD to iMovie more supported video format.
Hope it will help you more or less.

  • Importing Movies in iMovie why are they located in a file called Private

    Hi
I have just plugged my video camera into my macbook. I selected Import from camera and then directed the archive to a connected mypassport drive. The problem is they are now all located in a file called Private.???? How do I extract the files from there to a specific folder please. I plan to have a mypassport drive for all my preedited videos and then store the edited final cut version on my mac. I cant seem to drag the files from this folder to one of my choice.  HELP Please
    Thanks

Now, it still works that way, with a wrinkle. It moves all the files from your camera to the place you specify, but now it places them in a package. The package looks like the archive is a single file, but in reality, it contains all the files and folders as before. To see what is in the package, right click on the package name and select Show Package Contents. You should now see all the folders and files.
Good point AppleMan. I had forgotten about that wrinkle, even though I've previously mentioned it in other posts. Probably because I generally don't import from Archives, but straight from the camera.
I use a ShedWorx app called RevolverHD rather than iMovie's built-in Archive feature as it provides for selective archiving of clips. With iMovie the only option is to archive the full contents of the camera (Archive All). As my camera is a 60GB hard drive model (allowing about 8 hours at the highest setting), I tend to keep clips on the drive until I need space for new recordings. Using iMovie for the archive results in duplication, as all the older clips are archived again. It then gets a bit messy keeping track of things if, in the meantime, I've deleted any clips from the camera.
The only downside to using RevolverHD is that, whilst the archive shows the correct recording date and time, when imported to iMovie the clips show the date and time imported, not the recorded date and time. For this reason, I prefer to import directly from the camera. I understand (from my reading of your posts), that you import from the iMovie archive. Once you are happy with the import you then erase your camera card. So, when next using iMovie's Archive All feature, the new archive will comprise just your new clips. That's probably the ideal process, as it keeps things tidy, imports the correct date and time, and guarantees that the archive is reliable.
Sorry to move a bit beyond the OP's question, but thought this might be of interest to others here.
