How to import mpeg files downloaded from a Google Drive?
I recently downloaded 18 large clips of a recital which were in .mpeg format. iMovie refused to import any of them. Is there a way to do it and make a movie out of them? The combined files total almost 2 GB.

a) the standards of videoDVD allow only 480i (PAL: 576i) - so, somewhere in the workflow, camera>>edit>>disk-authoring, the resolution has to be conformed to that standards.
b) size (MBs/GBs) doesn't matter in disk-making, but length (hh:min:sec). Due to the various conversion processes which take place in the making of the disk, the file-size of you project has no relevant info. Just its length. A normal, single-layered DVD fits up to 1h in perfect quality, 2h in acceptable quality, and if the authoring apps supports it, you can squeeze literally 'hours' of video onto a single disk... with tame pic quality...-
so, silly example, a 1080/60p project, 90min, exported as proRes -Master could be 60, 70, 80GBs in size - but fits onto a 4.7GBs DVD-r ..

The answer to your question depends on which model JVC camcorder you have.
Here are a few basics:
1. If you have a JVC HD Everio that records in the AVCHD high definition file format (.mts file extension), and you have an Mac with an Intel processor, (sound like you do) running iMovie '08 or '09, then it should be no problem. Simply connect the camcorder via USB and launch iMovie.
2. If you have a slightly older JVC HD Everio that records MPEG2 high definition (.tod file format), then it is easiest if you record in the special 1440CBR mode, and transfer your video to your Mac using an i.Link (Firewire Connection) using the "Playlist Dubbing" process which is explained in your owner's manual.

I did the following trick: I created a new set of a folder and subfolder and called it "Virtual_CAM/DCIM" and saved it on my desktop. Then went to Disk Utilities>File Menue>New>Disk Image from Folder. Then selected the folder on my desktop and clicked enter. I moved the .dmg file to my external (or just keep it on your desktop). I clicked on the .dmg file. It shoud be visible on the Finder. Open your Imovie and import as you do from your camera. -

There's only one way to do this.
Copy the iPhoto Library from the old machine to the Pictures Folder on the new machine. You have to copy it as a single item. Then open it, don't import it.

I recently upgraded my computer and replaced all the hardware (motherboard, CPU, etc). However I kept the old "C" drive as a back-up with all the software
including the i-tunes files(playlists, etc). I replaced the old XP OS with an upgraded Windows XP OS and downloaded the last version of i-tunes 8 (8.2.0.23). Is there a way to recover the previous configuration and playlist files that I had before? I tried to use the library import feature but couldn't find the access path to get the old data. 2 considerations:
The first one is that (as you experienced) one should not delete or rename any of the predefined columns in the risk/issue list. What you did is the right way, meaning keeping the native column as is and creating new ones based on the business needs. Finally
you just need to create view with the appropriate fields.
Then for importing risks from an Excel list, I can't test it right now, but you should have a datagrid view (MS Access type) allowing you pasting data from Excel.

Just upgraded to Lion, can't open any pdf file downloaded from the internet that was fine with Leopard before. I just got a black screen when I clicked on a pdf icon on a given internet site, and same happened with several sites that I visited. How can I overcome this obstacle ?
Try two things with Safari not running:
1) Launch Adobe Reader, open its preferences, select the Internet category, and check the values under "Display PDF in browser using". If it's checked, try unchecking it.
2) Look in /Library/Internet Plug-Ins (at the top-level of your boot volume) for something names AdobePDFViewer.plugin. If you see such a file, try moving it to a folder named "Disabled Plug-Ins" (if such a folder exists) or onto the Desktop.
Then see how things work. -

How can I save the .mp4 files downloaded from internet to ipad memory so that I don't have to download everytime to view them again. Also they might remove them from internet so I can't rely on the bookmark to them.

Files recently downloaded from Canon Legeria FS306 to iMovie '11 do not play the audio. I can still hear audio on the camera or by downloading the same files to a PC. The first thing to try is to run Software Update (the Update tab in the Mac App Store.). This was an issue a couple of releases ago, and an update seemed to fix it.
If you are already at the most recent version of iMovie, then I don't know how to solve you issue. Maybe someone else will have some ideas. -

You don't, as ringtones are a one time purchase and as such can't be redownloaded.
If you still have them on your iTunes library, you may sinc them from there.
If you have a backup that contains them, you may restore your phone from that backup.
Or you can go to expresslane.apple.com and try for a re-issue. Which they do only occasionally and depending on the circumstances. -

Make files downloadable from outside tomcat(web) context
Hi there,
I made an application on whicht people can upload word/pdf files.
I put them in a dir called /opt/customer/2342/ , where 2342 is the customer id.
The files are stored there, because I don't want people to be able to just download the files by using http://www.blahblah.com/customer/2342
Now I want to create a servlet or jsp file that is able to make the files downloadable for specific users.
Of course I can find the files using java.util.File. But I don't have a clue how to make them downloadable from this path. Should it be something with a FileStream... ?? And adding the mime-type?
Can anybody give me some hints on making files downloadable from a specific dir?

when i import mpeg files into final cut, the video plays, but no sounds come out. so even when i put it into the timeline, there's no audio track. am i doing something wrong?
I thought his question was that his video was playing but he couldn't hear any music, if he downloaded his music from i-tunes which comes in a mpeg-4 file, final cut pro does not support the mpeg-4 he will have to change it over into a aiff file to make it work, I believe that is what he was asking but maybe I am wrong.
