How to import mvdemo.dmp?

Hi,
May i know how do i import mvdemo.dmp file?
I cannot view the maps at all?
Can anyone please advise me on that?
Thanks and regards,
Esther

Hi,
Do i type imp scott/tiger file=mvdemo.dmp at the run command there?
When i did that, they ask me for my username and password.
May i know what username and password do i need to key in? Is it the database username and password?
If that is it, there is a error message "failed to open mvdemo.dmp for read". Why is it so?
Thanks and regards,
Esther

From 10.1.0 to 8.1.7 => Use the EXPORT 8.1.7 to export the data from the 10.1.0 database and IMPORT 8.1.7 to

  • How to import a dmp file in OWB process?

    Hi Expert.
We'd like to import a dmp file into the database using OWB before doing some data cleasing. Is it possible to call "imp" in the OWB process flow, or if there's other alternatives?
    Thank you!
    Jeff

    Hi,
there are no alternatives - you must call imp with all properties on the command shell out of the process flow.

  • How to import *.dmp file Through Oracle SQL Developer (3.2.20.09)

    hi
how to import *.dmp file Through Oracle SQL Developer (3.2.20.09) ?
    how to do it ?
    thanks

    You do not.
.dmp files are created from our Export and Data Pump database utilities and are proprietary files. You use the corresponding Import (or Data Pump) utility to import the data.

  • How to import tables, indexes, tablespace, etc from a DMP.

    Hello,
I like to know how to import tables, indexes, tablespace, etc from an DMP export of a Oracle 10.2.0.1 to be apply on a Oracle 11.2.0. When I import the DMP file all the data is going to one single Tablespace, for example, Users tablespace.
On the original database we have various tablespace's each separated with different content (tables, indexes) and I like to know if it posible to import the same schema, tables, indexes, tablespace all made with one single DMP Export. I can't use DBUA because the software of the database on the 10.2 is missing, I have only a DMP file (24GB) of DMP!.
    Thanks for the reply,
    Sorry for my english :).
    Regards.

thanks for that but is not what Im looking for.
Look, on my ORCL directory of the oracle 10.2 I have for example this:
    CONTROL01.CTL
    EXAMPLE01.DBF
    REDO01-1.LOG
    REDO01.LOG
    REDO02-2.LOG
    REDO02.LOG
    REDO03-3.LOG
    REDO03.LOG
    RMAN.DBF
    SYSAUX01.DBF
    SYSTEM01.DBF
    TEMP01.DBF
    UNDOTBS01.DBF
    USERS01.DBF
    TABLESPACE1.ORA
    TABLESPACE2.ORA
    TABLESPACE3.ORA
    TABLESPACE4.ORA
    TABLESPACE5.ORA
I make a full export to a DMP. Then in my 11.2 version first I created the user then when import the DMP file none of the tablespace (TABLESPACE1, TABLESPACE2, ETC...) is created, all is going to the USERS tablespace, SO, im looking a way to tell imp command that generates the exactly tablespace structure that i was have on the 10.2.
Hope this can explain more my problem.
    Thanks again!.

  • How to Import/Export database tables from one server to other in oracle8i

    Hello friend,
Please can any one tell me how to import/export groups of database tables from one server with oracle to another using VB.net. It would be nice if some one can provide some code of it.
I am a software developer and I am in middle of a large project development, in which I need to export a large oracle database from one server to another efficiently.
Its very urgent so please someone help me.

    At command prompt (source db)
    set ORACLE_SID=db_name
    exp system/password@db_name full=y buffer=104857600 file=(c:\file1.dmp, c:\file2.dmp....) log=c:\exp.log filesize=2000M
Then ftp the export dump files (in binary) to the other server or copy to target server over the network.
    At command prompt (target db)
    set ORACLE_SID=db_name
    imp system/password@db_name full=y ignore=y buffer=104857600 file=(c:\file1.dmp, c:\file2.dmp....) log=c:\imp.log filesize=2000M
If the path names of the datafiles are going to be different in the target server (as compared to the source), then precreate the tablespaces before import. Set buffer value accordingly.

  • How to import Oracle 8i database objects into an Oracle 10g database ?

    Hi all,
We plan to use Oracle 10g , but untill now we use Oracle 8i 8.1.7.4.1 .
I want to know how to import all of our Oracle 8i objects stuff to the new Oracle 10g database ; and should I create tablespaces or can I import simply the Oracle 8i tablespaces.
    Thank you very much indeed

If you use 1 database schema for your application , export the schema only
    for example
    export NLS_LANG env before
    export hr/hr file=hr.dmp log=hr.dmp
    On 10g
    ======
    create the user,tablespaces etc
    import the user
    run the utlrp.sql
    you are ready
    export NLS_LANG env before
    import system/password file=hr.dmp log=hr.dmp fromuser=hr touser=hr

  • How to import a table with renamed name

If I want to import a table from a DMP on UNIX towards my user where I already have a new version but I don't want to drop this new version 'cause I have only to move some records from one to the other, is there an import option for importing the table with another name? I mean I want to import on the same user, where there already exists the table MYTABLE, an old version of MYTABLE by impoting it with the new name MYTABLE_OLD, so afterwards I can update MYTABLE with some of old records of its old versione MYTABLE_OLD. Is it possible?

    You cannot directly do this.
You can import the Table into a different schema and then rename the table.
export and import back into the required schema.
