How to import my AOL address book to Thunderbird

I have just loaded Thunderbird and Firefox and would like to import my address book from AOL

Access your account from the AOL webmail page, click Contacts in the left pane, then click Tools/Export, select LDIF format, save the contacts.ldif file.
In TB, Tools/Import...Address Books... Text file... select the contacts.ldif file, and a "contacts" address book will be added to the TB Address Book.
If you run the import from Address Book/Tools/Import, the imported address book will appear empty, but not after you close and re-open Address Book.

I am using an ipad and the primary account email is aol.  Is there a way to import my aol address book onto my ipad "contacts" app?

Oops, I found the answer to my question. Great knowledge base! I had originally imported via the automatic popup dialog box that appeared when I installed TB, and didn't absorb at the time that there would be a way to do an import later, after TB install, too, and even for specific parts of OE (address book vs. mail messages, etc.).
I pasted the link to the "Migrate to Thunderbird" page that includes how to migrate just an Address Book from OE, but the following is all that pastes in: 9723729938
I have typed out the link here:

  • How to import attachment into Address Book "Notes" field

Is it possible to import an attachment into the Address Book "Notes" field? Jpg, PDF, pages doc, whatever...? Don't really care if the file is "visible" (IE if photo, can actually SEE photo)... a clickable icon would be fine.
    Thanks

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
I'm not aware of any direct connector provided by RIM for this purpose. They do supply an ASCII/CSV import capability...see this KB:
KB11194 How to import contacts from an CSV file to the BlackBerry device
You'd have to find out from AOL how to get your contacts exported to an ASCII or CSV file.

  • How to import from old address book?

Hi all, I've searched the net about my problem but with no result.
I have an old mac (a G3 iMac running 10.3.9) with a lot of contacts on its Address Book, and I do mean a lot. The computer is completely dead, but I have a copy of the contents of its internal hard disk on a new mac running Lion. My problem is importing the old contacts into the new Address Book. The file formats have changed and the old files can't be imported into the new application, they are not even recognized as addressbook files. Obviously I can't export from the old system since it's not running. The old AddressBook.data file is a terrible junk of names, addresses, telephone numbers and everything else organized in an incomprehensible way (I can't just manually copy the addresses from the file). Does anyone know how to import those contacts into the new format? Otherwise, I'll have to find somebody who owns an old system with an old Address Book application so that I can export the files from there. Thanks a lot

As it's been 3 months, you probably have resolved this by now, but I had a similar problem today and resolved it with help from a tech at the Genius Bar at my local Apple Store.
If you ever backed up your "Library" folder from your old Mac, it contains the "Application Support" folder which in turn contains the "Address Book" folder.
On your new iMac, running Lion:
    1)open Finder
    2)select "Go" on the menu
3)with the "Go" window open, press and hold down the "Option" key on your keybord. Doing this will expose the hidden "Library" folder.
    4) in the Library folder you will find "Application Support"
    5) in the "Application Support" folder, you will find the "Address Book" folder
    6) assuming you have the old "Address Book" folder from within the backed-up "Library Folder" from you old iMac, delete the "Address Book" folder on your new iMac and copy your old backed-up Address Book folder to the "Application Support" folder in its place.
    7) Open the Address Book application and you should see your contact records.
I just finished doing this and it worked for me.
    Cheers

  • Importing of AOL address book to I Phone

    Aloha All,
Can anyone walk me through importing my e-mail addresses from AOL to my 3G I Phone? And I need BABY STEPS here people. (LOL)
    Many Mahalos,

The only syncing that iTunes and the iPhone support from a Windows perspective are Outlook 2003, Outlook 2007 and Windows Address Book. I'm not aware of anyway to transfer an AOL addressbook to the iPhone. You may be able to transfer the AOL addressbook to a comma deliniated file, and then transfer it to Windows address book, then sync the phone. That would work. Again, I'm not familiar with the AOL addressbook, so this is just a guess.

  • How to import the entire address book into icloud?

Does anyone know how to import the address book in its' entirety into iCloud?
    Thanks.
    debi

Or you can select all your contacts in Address Book, click File/Export/Export vCard. Save the file to your desktop. Open Contacts at iCloud.com then click the Gear icon in the lower left corner to reveal the Import vCard option.
It will get your contacts to iCloud and syncing with an iOS device however obviously any changes will not automatically sync between iCloud and the computer.

  • How to import metadata from Address Book on external hard drive to new laptop running OSX 10.8.3?

My old MacBook died a painful death.  I retrieved the hard drive and have it in a portable enclosure that has a USB connection.  I can see the old Address Book on it, but when I transfered the Address Book application to my new MacBook Pro running OSX 10.8.3, the application will transfer, but it won't open because it is not supported on the newer MacBook.  I searched around the old hard drive for any files that could be related to the Address Book contact data.  I found metadata files for each of my contacts.  I can get the metadata to transfer to the new MacBook, but I can't seem to do anything with it.
I tried using Migration Assistant, doing it manually, trying to import the metadata using "import" feature on the new version of Address Book.  Can't seem to find anything that works.
Any suggestions?  Thank you in advance.

If you open a contacts database from an earlier version of OS X, the data should be imported automatically. Is that what you tried to do?

  • HT4489 how to import contacts from address book on mac?

I'm a new user and was wondering if there was a way to import/transfer/copy my contact details from Address Book to ICloud?

Open Address Book on your Mac, select the All Contacts group (if you have multiple groups), click on a single contact, press Command-A to select All Contacts, go to File>Export>Export vCard and save this file on your desktop.  Then import the file you just saved to your contacts on icloud.com as explained here: http://help.apple.com/icloud/#mmfba7399f.

  • Importing Mac's Address Book into Print Sho

Can't figure how to import Mac's Address Book into PrintShop's Address Book?
    Thanks

Netscape's Address Book window does not have that option. The Export option is under the Tools menu, but does not give you any options in the Tools menu. Once you select Export, the Export Address Book window opens. This window does have a format option where you can select either LDIF, Comma Separated or Tab Delimited. But it doesn't matter which of those I select, Apple's Address Book and Mail applications are not available for selection.

  • Convert AOL address book to Importable format for OS X MAIL

I just looked [ using BBEdit ] at our address book from AOl, which we were using when we were using OS 9.2.2. We were using AOL v. 5.0 - which was the best that we could use with OS 9.2.2.
With BBEdit, I could make out the person names and many of the email addresses in the AOL address book. BUT, it wasw such a "jumble" that editing the file would have been an eternity.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to transfer the info from the AOL address book to OS X v.10.4.6, etc application ADDRESS BOOK ?????
Thanks for your help -- in advance.
    Samuel

Address Book has an import function. Have you tried it? There are three formats, one of them text. I don't know AOL, but you should be able to at least export it to a text file.

Natively on iPad you can not send to groups.  There apps in the App Store which you can get for this.  Here is one that may work for your needs:  http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mailshot-group-email-done/id410279354?mt=8

  • How to import names and addresses from address book into a letter

I am a new Apple user and fairly frustrated by the lack of help and who to contact for support. I would like to know how I can use the address book to write a letter or export the information to Word to writ a simple letter. Is this possible ?
    Thanks

    > I am a new Apple user and fairly frustrated by the lack of help and who to contact for support.
There is a Help function available for each application and since you are a new Apple user, I strongly suggest that you use this for learning purposes especially for the Apple applications you use most often. An answer to every possible question is not included but this is a good place to start to help you with the learning curve involved with switching from Windows.
You discovered these Discussions which is probably your best avenue for overall support. There is a wealth of knowledge here with Apple provided knowledge base articles and a large number of very knowledgeable folks who volunteer their time to help fellow users with problems/issues and to answer various questions such as yours. I've learned much here and continue to learn new things on a regular basis.
Regarding contacting Apple support directly (they won't help you with problems associated with 3rd party applications such as Word even though Apple includes an Office 2004 Test Drive on all Macs but if you have a technical support issue with Apple hardware or Software, you contact AppleCare with free telephone support for 90 days from date of purchase. If you have a warranty related issue after the 90 days of free telephone support has expired, AppleCare will request upfront payment for the support but if the reported problem does turn out to be a covered warranty issue, the upfront money paid will be credited in full.
