How to import pdf files in Premiere Elements 8

Hello,
I'd like to know if there's a way to import pdf files in premiere elements 8, becouse if I try to import it in "project" it gives me an error saying "this type of file is not supported".
Thank you
Sebastian

Unfortunalty it's not working for me yet. If I try to import the PDF (single page)  into the project, the progress bar reach 100% but then says: "the file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed". I have Acrobat Reader 9.3 installed too.
I've uploaded one of the PDF's that I want to use if you want to test it yourself:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=YB7NT4QR
One of my coworkers says that I may need Adobe Bridge to do so, is that correct? Otherwise a simple "pdf to jpg" (or other image formats) could solve the problem.
Thanks for your support.
Sebastian

How do add .mov files in Premiere Elements 11 with Windows 8? I get a generic error message.

    Hi Steve,
Thanks for your quick response. The original movies were taken on a Canon ES970 (1990's). I don't know the resolution but things were not as high tech back then.,.. I used a Roxio software to convert them on my MacBook Air. I didn't realize that I could use Adobe Premiere Elements to do that or I would have. However my old camera did not have a cable to attach it to a computer and the Roxio software came with it.
I then saved the recordings on an external hard drive. I did not make movies from them using iMovie or edit them in any way. They are simply .MOV files and they can be played on my Mac. Upon realizing how much memory it takes to work on videos, I decided it might be easier to burn DVD's on my husband's  new Dell desktop that came with Windows 8. I downloaded Quicktime as suggested and still the movies can't be added to Premiere.

One thing to point out, if you are doing this with the trial. While it is 100% (nothing crippled, or omitted), the trial WILL put a watermark on the finished Project. If you are doing this for work, be aware of that watermark. This http://forums.adobe.com/thread/433730?tstart=0 will give you some tips and background.
Good luck, and I do not want you to be surprised and mad, when you get that watermark.

  • Importing project files into Premiere Elements 7

I have created a new project, imported several video clips and then created a video. It was only at the point of creating the video that I reliased that I had not created the project with the correct settings.
Although the video looked fine in the editing window, the final video had black bars at the sides, and above above and below the video, and fairly think black bars. I've tried exporting as different formats, and changing the aspect ratio, but this has not helped. I've attached a jpeg of what the video looks like in Quicktime.
Other video editing software I have used, has the ability to change the project settings after it has been created, and give a warning to the user about possible problems they may encounter by doing so.
This does not appear to be the case with Adobe Premiere Elements 7, and it is extremely frustrating!!
One thing which appears to be possible with Premiere Pro, and was also available on other editing software I have used, is the ability to import projects.
So... does anyone know if it is possible to import a Premiere Elements 7 project file into Premiere Elements 7? The aim here is to create a project with the correct settings, and then import the existing project file into the timeline.
I've tried hacking the project file, which has improved the video slightly, but still not what I was expecting.
    Cheers
    Paul

This problem should have been picked up by Adobe's test analyst during testing of the product.
I am sorry, but I am not following you on this. There are Presets to match many media types. I am not at all sure how Adobe could anticipate that a user would choose the wrong one.
As I said, PrPro CS4 will both allow you to Import your .PREL (with the caveats mentioned), and work on the Project with Sequence settings to match. Unfortunately, PrE is a much less sophisticated and expensive program, than is PrPro CS4.
I'd be happy to Import your file, in PrPro with the proper Presets, but the rub would be that PrE cannot Open .PRPROJ files, so you still could not edit it.
Sorry, but the first rule of any NLE is to establish Presets that match one's Assets. PrPro CS4 (not before that version) allows one to cover their mistakes a bit, but there is still some work getting the improperly set Sequence's material into a new, properly set Sequence.
If you have access to PrPro CS4, and can finish your Project there, that would be the best. Next would be to create a New Project with the proper Presets and chalk up the lost time as a learning experience.
Sorry ot bear the bad news.
    Good luck,

  • How to import pdf files to iPad

Brand new to the iPad community!
How do I "import" pdf files to the iPad, for use by pdf reader and/or annotation apps?
I have some of the appropriate apps, but whenever I try to sync pdf files ("books"), I get a message that I need iBooks to read pdf files. And when I install iBooks, I see my pdf files but only in iBooks, not the other apps!?
    What am I doing wrong?

Thanks all for helping with advice -- there's lots to learn moving from a PC laptop environment to a brand new iPad.  Even so, e-mailing yourself as a "file transfer" seems like merely a high-tech version of "sneaker-net", as well as a waste of ever-scarcer bandwidth! And DropBox is only an alternative for non-confidential stuff, the Patriot Act makes it's use (for that matter, even the use of e-mail or the cloud generally) nfg for anything confidential -- in my case, client financial & tax data. So I knew there HAD to be a non-wireless way to do it. So thanks, Fred!

I have installed the "PDF reader" app and it is a great one. but can't import pdf files that are already in my IPAD (I see them in iBooks)

Documents associated with a specific app, such as iBooks, are not available to other apps on the iPad unless the app that they are associated with is capable of sending docs to be opened in another app, such as GoodReader is capable of doing. iOS is a much less open system than a computer OS like MAC OS  X or Windows, there is no central documents folder which various apps can browse to and open.

  • Can I import 264 files into Premiere Elements 11

I get a generic error when I attempt to import some 264 files. These were created on a cctv system.

As soon as I saw this post, I searched for the .264 extension in my hard drive. Found two files - could play both of them in Premiere Elements 11 and 12. Just imported them and played them on the expert room timeline.
Pathetic quality of the video though. I am not sure how these are there in my hard drive! Got to check with my friends for whom I have edited some projects if it belongs to them.

  • Cannot import .MOV files with Premiere Elements 12: generic error. Using Windows 8.1 (64b)

This question was already on the forum for older version of Premiere and Windows. I'm making my videos (.MOV format) with the digital camera Casio EX-ZR400.
I have no any problems with Photoshop Elements 12 for pictures produced by this camera.

    Dngineer
What is the source of your .mov file..(brand/model/settings of the camera that recorded the video)......what is the video and audio compression and frame rate?
Are you working with the 12.1 Update of 12? If not, please do so using an opened project's Help Menu/Update. Both QuickTime and Premiere Elements need to be run from a User Account with Administrative Privileges. Are you doing that?
    Narrowing things down
Are all files with the .mov file extensions the only video files that you cannot import into the program? Any exceptions?
When you open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace and go to Publish+Share/Computer/QuickTime, does that choice have its presets?
Let us start here and decide what next based on your reply.
    Thank you.

  • How to import pdf files as booklets - and not as books in 9.2

After having being very fond of the possibility to include booklets (or, in my case, sheet music) in pdf format into the main music library, I can't find the way to do it in version 9.2. It still imports the pdf, but puts it into the Books department. The old pdf files are still in the Music library.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Walt

This change of behaviour is most annoying, and to my mind is further proof that the primary function of iTunes as a music player/organiser has been lost sight of in the welter of iPod/iPhone/iPad 'features'.
I find that I can still import PDF booklets into the main Music library, but they no longer merge with their related album as they used to when Album Title and Album Artist were set appropriately. What you need to do now if this is what you want to happen is Get Info on the PDF booklet after you import it, and change the Media Type to 'Music' in the Options tab (iTunes 9.2 sets this to 'Book' by default).
It's a nuisance to have to perform this additional step, but at least it brings back the previous behaviour.

  • Importing m2ts files in Premiere Elements

Just got myself a new SONY HD Camcorder - HDR-CX520V. Came back from vacation and I have around 300 short video clips that I have taken. All clips are in m2ts format which is AVCHD 1080i format.
When loaded in SONY's PMB, a utility that came with the camcorder, all the files are OK, look great in HD quality with the widescreen format, ...
So now that I want to edit those videos and make a movie out of them, I loaded them in Premiere Elements 8.0. No problems, or errors. Now in the organizer, the thumbnails look distorted. Their aspect ratio has changed, and the quality looks much more inferior. When I double click a clip, it plays with the distorded aspect ratio - almost like a 4:3 aspect ratio - and the quality is far far from what I see in Sony's PMB. As if it was downgraded from HD to SD and from 16:9 aspect ratio to a 4:3.
Before I embark on my video editiing journey, am I doing anything wrong? Do I need to do anything before loading my m2ts files in PRE 8?

First, ensure that your Premiere Elements project is using the AVCHD project settings. (And, if your camcorder records in 5.1 audio, that you have that selected to.) Otherwise, nothing else will work.
Second, you should use Premiere Elements to download the video from the camcorder to your computer. Go to Get Media/AVCHD Camcorder.
The fact that you're using a different utility may well be why the video looks distorted in the Organizer.

  • How To Import .THM Files Into Premiere Pro CS5

    Hello:
I just purchased a Canon Vixia HFM50.  When I use the presets, there is support for the AVCHD format.  The file extension for the AVCHD format from the Canon is *.THM.  Yet, that file type is not recognized.  How do I import it?
    Regards,
    Rich Locus

    Hi Rich Locus,
Thanks for your post.  THM is an image file format for thumbnails. Images are made smaller for browsing purposes, usually because it is easier to view and takes less time to load.
THM files can be viewed by most image preview or editing programs on both Macs and PCs. THM files are similar to .JPEG files, and those .
THM files representing image files can usually be converted to JPEG format by changing the name of the file from .THM to .JPEG or .JPG.
THM files can also be used by videos. When extracting a video file from a camcorder, a thumbnail will be created to represent the video, usually taken from the video’s first frame.
The .THM file will then have the same name as the .AVI file that it represents. With Canon-created video files, the .THM file also contains the metadata for the video, and therefore needs to remain with and have the same name as the .AVI file. Please update if changing the extension of the file works.
    Regards,
    Vinay
