How to import Powerpoint movie into FCP

I have a powerpoint slideshow from a client and am needing to import it into FCP. In PPT I saved it as "Make Movie", and sought to import as .mov into FCP. When i try to open it, I get error , message, "Out of Memory." I have 27 GB of memory on the main drive, and the file is only 49MB. Any help would be appreciated.

First find a sharp object, then look for the soft spot on the inside of your wrist...
or if you must,
Export each slide as a still file and rework them in Motion. You probably need to set them on a background because NO ONE EVER build powerpoint for text safe in video.

  • How to Import Shake scripts into FCP?

    Hello,
There may be info here on the Forum, but I wanted to ask this anyway: I've made a Shake script and a File Out Node and rendered that, but when I go to FCP I can't import, or Open that file. I did make it a Quicktime file, but I'm sure that I'm missing something. Could someone tell me how to import Shake comps into FCP? Thanks!

I guess I'm not sure what you mean, then - You can't render to a "script" file.
What format was was the QuickTime file you produced with your File Out node? Are you trying to do something with an Alpha Channel? If so, you could use the Animation codec with colors set to Millions+ or a TIFF sequence (or PNG), or maybe ProRes 4444, but I don't know if Shake can output to that codec.
    More detail please,

  • How to import a movie into mac

When I played a dvd from MAC and it always detroyed my DVD after a few times.  Is there a way to import a movie into MAC?
    Thanks.
    Yuyuki

If the drive is physically destroying DVD's you need to have it repaired. A DVD should play indefinitely for all intents and purposes.
There should not be any physical contact between the player and the disk.
If the system is out of warranty and you don't want to pay to have it repaired there are many 3rd party USB and/ FireWire DVD drives that you can purchase. for a reasonable price.

  • How to import tif sequences into FCP

We did some painted animation on After Effects, save them as TIF sequences and want to import them into FCP. Does anyone has any tips on how to do that?
It seems that saving them as tif sequence it will preserve more quality when importing them into the movie (live-action) in FCP or AVID, etc.
    Thanks!

I know... and also I could have saved them as a quicktime movie straight from after effects. The reason I decided not, is that I was told that the tiff files in sequence would have better quality (including when using blending upper and lower fields) when importing them into a final composition at the professional studio, where we will put the image and the sound together.
The professionals that recomended me that use AE in PCs, them they go to a editing facility and import all the tif sequences (usually they use AVID) into their videos. I wanted to do this in our FCP and go to the editing facility with all the image ready.
I thought that FCP could import image sequences. I do not know if it would make any difference just having all in quick time.
    Any tips anyone?

  • Importing WoW movies into FCP

    Hello!
I like to play World of Warcraft in the evenings. Lately I've started using the built-in movie capture function to create videos for my fellow players to view. I want to use FCP to edit them. Although the WoW client supposedly compresses the videos into Quicktime files, FCP won't accept the files for import.
The only way I can import the files is by using Compressor to re-compress the files. But for some reason that lowers the quality of the source in terms of FPS smoothness, even when using a lossless codec.
Can anyone give me tips on how to import the files directly, or even what settings to use for re-compression?
    Thanks
    -David

Sorry for bringing this up again but I have the same problem since the Video Capture Tool was integrated into the game.
I searched here and there for possible solutions but there seems no other than re compressing every file (and losing quality) when trying to use them with FCP or FCE. iMovie and Quicktime open the files but have trouble playing them after some time. Re compressing with QuickTime or Compressor is no Problem at all but takes a lot of time and quality.
It seems as if the frame rate has got something to do with it, but I'm not sure. I tryed conforming the files with Cinema Tools but in the log is says "Skipped -- The movie has temporal compression". I don't really understand what that means.
As compression for the movies recorded ingame, I choose H.264 but with other codecs I had the same issue.
Here is a small sample of a movie, recorded and compressed by the game:

Maybe this helps resolving this problem.

  • How to import YouTube videos into FCP for editing

I am doing a television interview, and we want to cut away to a YouTube video. Is there a way to download and import YouTube videos into Final Cut Express?

It's a clip from CNN (with all credits etc. added). When one refers to it as a clip posted on "YouTube", then people understand the quality will be poor.
I've watched television go from everything shot on a tripod with clean, meticulous editing rules, to almost anything goes. It has to do with cultural reference.

  • Can't import ref movie into FCP

Can't figure this one out. If I export either a QT reference movie or self-contained movie out of FCP, I cannot import it back in. I get a file error message access denied. What gives?
    Thanks,
    Tom

You can search here for ACCESS DENIED, we see the topic often.
Most likely is that you are saving it to drive or folder to which you do not have adequate privileges. I don't think we've ever figured it out.

  • How to IMPORT QUICKTIME movies into ipod?

I've created a 2:00 video using fcp and exported it using Compressor as 'video for ipod'. the file is
    10 mb.....
I can't get my ipod (60g color) to recognize the file either by 'importing' it or 'adding to library'...
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Ya everything has to go into iTunes first then it can go to the iPod. Apple has made it so iTunes is the portal and there normally isn't anyway to go straight from computer to iPod, at least not for things to be played ON the iPod.

  • How to import AVCHD movies into iPhoto without wavy lines.

Seems to be quite the common plight but few resolved answers (that I could find) ...
Importing videos in to iPhoto from Sony Handycam "works", but upon viewing the quality is garbage with lines, shooting in 1080i mode at 30 fps.
I know I can import into iMovie but because it converts that to AIC it chews up way more space. I've also played around with ClipWare, but that only seems to reduce the distraction slightly.
Any other automated software out there to do this? Seems like a good market to make some serious coin for whoever comes up with software for it.

Lighten up Francis! It was meant to be lighthearted observation of some frustrating facts. Didn't you see my smiling winking emoticon?
It is cathartic to vent a little now and then by the way, you should try it sometime.
I originally posted to confirm for others that the bug was still there.
Your post was not helpful since you simply told me to stop doing what I need to do. I understand that is all the advice you could give since there is no workaround for the bug. I explained why changing to another video format would not meet my needs.
Your suggestion for contacting Apple directly and giving feedback is good but at this point we are probably having a tempest in a teacup over nothing since it will be a whole new ballgame in Photos.
So long and have a nice day.

  • How to import CD movie into imovie

i just made a CD on imovie on my friends Imac. I came home to play it on mine but when i click to play it (by clikcing the CD) it gives me an error reading saying it does not have the support to play it. maybe i could play it by importing it to imovie. Anyone know how to do that?

Ah you didn't mention that you had a Video DVD, that's an important bit of information.
A DVD that was made to be played on a DVD player has a very different format form one made for a computer. In order to access the content of the DVD o you will need to convert or rip the DVD. Please realize that if the DVD is a commercial DVD (or a copy of one) then it is protected by DRM and you will not be able to rip it and also it is against the TOU here on ASC to discuss the ripping of commercial DVD's. Apple will pull your account here is that is the case.
So with that in mind you can rip the DVD using something like HandBrake

  • Having touble importing Quicktime movies into FCP....

I keep getting an error message saying ;"File error; 1 file recognized, 0 access denied, 1 unknown."
Can anyone please help me with this? This should be the easiest thing and I'm having trouble. Very discouraging after spending so much on FCP
    Thank you,
    ~Pat

You probably won't be able to do it in FCP - though maybe...
I generally use QTPro to convert stuff that I haven't already captured myself. However, if it is an odd codec that QTPro won't even do I'll use Handbrake or some other 3rd party app like that.
If you can use FCP I'd set up a BATCH EXPORT from the browser window and if you have multiple files you need converted just batch them all together. OH - maybe even compressor will do it.
Actually -- you have lots of options.
Let us know if you need more help. I'm not going step by step until you need it.

  • Cannot import Finalize movie into iMovie

I have a Sony DCR-DVD103 and when I go to File>Import Movies I do see my Finalized DVD, but all the files including the Import button are grayed out. How can I import the Finalized movie into iMovie?
Upon connecting the Video Camera to my MacBook Pro, DVD Player launches. I quit DVD Player and go to iMovie>Import Movies, but never see how to import the movie into iMovie.

I have a Sony DCR-DVD103 and when I go to File>Import Movies I do see my Finalized DVD, but all the files including the Import button are grayed out. How can I import the Finalized movie into iMovie?
The "Import Movies..." option is for importing "edit" compatible files from a hard drive into iMovie '08. If the source files are not already "edit" compatible, iMovie '08 will not let you import them. Instead, try the ""Import from Camera..." option. If iMovie '08 properly recognizes you DVD camcorder, it will import your MPEG2/AAC content by converting all MPEG-2 "P" and "B" frames to "I" frames (which are editable), convert the AC3 audio to AIFF, and place both in an MOV file container with start and/or end time offsets to minimize drift between audio and video. The resulting file can then be edited in iMovie '08.
If the camcorder is not recognized by iMovie '08, then you will probably have to import the MPEG2/AC3 files to you hard drive and manually convert them to an edit compatible compression format manually using an MPEG-based, third-party conversion application like iSquint (free), MPEG Streamclip (free but requires $20 QT MPEG-2 Playback component), FFmpegX, (donation-ware), Visual Hub (pay-ware), MPEG2 Works (pay-ware), or similar application.

  • How can I import a movie into iMovie 09 from a hard drive?  The movie will open and play in idvd but breaks into separate files that can't be downloaded when I try to import.  Can it be done?

How can I import a movie into iMovie 09 from a hard drive?  The movie will open and play in idvd but breaks into separate files that can't be downloaded when I try to import.  Can it be done? I am trying to create a disc of player highlights for a collegiate coach, and I am using movie files downloaded to my hard drive from a DVD created on a PC.

No unfortunately it won't open in quicktime either.  It does the same thing that Imovie does, separates it into two file folders audio and video, and if i select video it opens to reveal 8 files that cannot be selected.  VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VIDEO_TS.VOB,VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VB, VTS_01_3.VOB.  All of which cannot be opened or selected.
Opening it in Idvd and folllowing your suggestion works and I get a format code of NTSC.  Is that the same?  Thank you for your time and response.

  • I have a short homemade film burnt onto a DVD, I now want to import the movie into IMOVIE on my MacBook Pro so that I can edit it, how would I go about doing this? Welcoming any guidance.  Thanks in advance.

I have a short homemade film burnt onto a DVD, I now want to import the movie into IMOVIE on my MacBook Pro so that I can edit it, how would I go about doing this? Welcoming any guidance.  Thanks in advance.

    1. Insert your DVD.
    2. Open Disk Utilities (Application> Utilities> Disk Utilities). Highlight your DVD and press "New Image" on the upper toolbar.
    3. Choose the location you would like to save your DVD from the drop down menu, "Desktop" is usually the best choice. Then click Save.
    4. When finished, your DVD icon will appear on the desktop with the .dmg extension.
    5. With iMovie open, double-click the .dmg  file you created to mount it. The iMovie import window will then appear asking you to choose. Click Import All and wait for the Import to complete.
