How to import .txt for catalog

Is there a way to import .txt into InDesign like Pagemaker used to do?

Personally, I would use data merge to get the data into ID. ID cannot, however, use a logic-based import for setting styles. There is a plug-in I use that would handle that part just fine.
The data file has superfluous information in it. It has missing headers for those columns at the end, though I am uncertain that info is even used without scrolling through the ID file. The ads/info graphics (or whatever they are) would need to be placed individually. Not a big deal. The biggest challenge by not using data merge to get the data in is (1) cleaning that file up for a regular text import and, (2) manually formatting what I suppose is a larger file than was uploaded.
I have done course catalogs for two colleges. One was XML, the other was a data merge. I frankly don't see the problem. The plug-in I use in QXP is available for ID as well. For ID it is InData by Em Software. It was well worth the cost. If you go this route, do download, install, and try it before plunking down the money. It takes "programming" to use it in that one creates what they call prototypes. It really is simply a bit of code. It isn't onerous to learn.

  • DTW--  How to Import  Issue for Production

    Hi ,
             How do i import Issue for Production Through DTW.
    Thanks & Regards
    somi mishra

    hello,
    why do you want to use DTW to issue for production ? You could use backflush as issue method so that you can skip issue for production job. If you have issue for production batch job which it means you want to add all the qty of RM issued to production one times and all at onces for more than 10 PO, I think it is better to use addon. You create an excel template and export the data to be txt file, the txt file imported to the issue for production form using the addon. I just compare this situation with the client request in long time ago. they request fast and not manual sales order creation from quotation. just to compare it to your situation but need your detail explanation.

  • How to import Data (For Dummies) into a table

    I have a excel spreadsheet that is an export of an oracle database table. I want to now import that data into another Oracle Database (same table and format). What is the best way to do that. Someone told me t ouse SQL*Loader, but that is not as straightforward as I had hoped. I tried to use access, but I got an invalid argument on one attempt, and a Reserved Error (-2007) on another attempt.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Now it seemed to run w/o the INSERT error this time, but now when I look at the log, i see the following errors:

    3. what class should i used?
    4. how to create an object to keep track the image in java application.

    You can use Graphics package for importing images in Java applications. But I am afraid you cannot display it on Text area, you can display it on JPanel, or JLabel or some container like this.
    Check this example.

  • How to import *.pfx for 2 way SSL Web Service?

    Hello,
    We are trying to create web service consumer where 2 way SSL is needed.
    We have exp_pfx_cert.pfx certificate. As far as we know there is need to convert it to PSE and then import in STRUST. Next steps like RFC, service consumer should be as usually.
    PFX -> PSE
    We tried to use sapgenpse but there was error like in attached image.
    ROOT CA certificate is in another text file.
    How to import this pfx + ROOT CA into SAP STRUST ?

    In smicm i have:
    *** WARNING => Connection request from (30/4018/1) to host: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, service: 443 failed (NIECONN_REFUSED
    RM-T30, U4018, 800 XXXXXXX, T61, 20:56:44, M1, W3, SM59, 2/2 {00010018} [icxxconn_mt.c 2222]
    Maybe this is firewall issue...
    We will use many certificates for one destination webserwice to log in so I think we will have to create the same amount of client identities and SM59 connections as certificates.
    Do we have to create client identity in special way (like there: http://scn.sap.com/people/jens.gleichmann/blog/2008/10/31/calling-webservices-from-abap-via-httpsssl-with-pfx-certificates  using PSE) or just "Create" and leave default values?

  • How to import Province for NON US Leads?

    I couldn't find a separte Province Field on the Lead wsdl instead it only has oneState/Province field.
    We have both US and NON USA Leds which needs to be imported. I'm mapping the USA Address to State/Province field. But I dont know which field to be mapped for Province. Also, if I try to import address for a NON USA Country, it throws a picklist mismatch error stating State values doesn't match as it is verifying against the State field, which would only allow the valid USA Sate Codes.
    Please advice.

  • How to import balance for business partner by DTW

    Hi all .
    Now , I want to import balance for Business partner by Data trasfer workbench , but I don't know use template ,
    Please help .

    Hi Tranba,
    I would advise using the Service AR Invoice/AP Invoices to import balances of the Customers & Vendors.
    By doing this you will be able to accept/make payments against these balances which you will not be able to do if you import the balances using Journal Entries.
    To import debit (positive) balances of your customer, use the oInvoices template in DTW. Otherwise for credit balances (balances where you owe money to customer) use the oCreditNote template.
    Simlarly for Vendors, use the oPurchaseInvoice template (credit balances) & oPurchaseCreditNote template (debit balance)
    Hope this information will help you in uploading the balances as per the requirements.
    All the best!

  • SAP BO DI 3.2 How to import definition for flat files

    Hi All,
    I have several MS Access database with their respective tables , but Im needing now to import the tables structure/definitions of their tables as Flat Files definitions inside SAP BO DI 3.2 , is there an automatically way to do this without using the Flat File Editor?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    if you have the data in an Access database can you not just connect via ODBC to get the data?  This would also allow you to get the column metadata easily.
    If you are going to export the data from Access to flat files then do this first and then use the Flat File editor to create each file in turn, as long as you have access to the file then you can open it in the file editor and Designer will import the schema for you.

  • How to import DDL for multiple tables referencing each other?

    Hello people,
    I'm having a non-trivial problem. I need to copy a few tables from one machine to another, both 10g. Just DDL, data copying is not necessary. When I export the DDL to an SQL file using Oracle SQL Developer, the resulting file is refused at the import (again, SQL Developer). The problem is that every table references some other table(s), so every single "create table" command is refused, because the needed table is has not been created yet. What's the best solution to be applied here?
    Maybe I can draw a parallel to adding packages in Debian. When you have two packages, A and B, and they depend on each other, you cannot install them using "dpkg -i A && dpkg -i B" nor the other way around. Both calls to the dpkg will fail, due to the missing respective package. However, installing them in one command ("dpkg -i A B") is the right way. This is EXACTLY what I'd love to do with Oracle. Tell it to wait a bit, to make sure that ALL of the necessary tables are specified, and then create them virtually at once. Can it be achieved with transaction management?
    Thanks a lot for any help.

    Use exp/imp or expdb / impdp
    They will only enable constraints after all tables are imported.

  • How to import  user  for SSO (i.e ssoimp.cmd)

    Hi,
    i installed portal 3.0.7 and tried to transport the application from development to production server.Both uses same DB,same Portal version & same apache server version.This is the order mentioned for importing: I too did the same way.
    Import sso dump (ssoimp.cmd)
    Import sec dump (secimp.cmd)
    Import Database dump (imp)
    Import App dump (appimp.cmd)
    Import cont area dump (contimp.cmd)
    But during the very first time and very first step ,when i started the SSO dump import ,it says the following .
    "Note:Import user have to login to login server by entering his/her password and must rename his/her password".
    Of course the sso import also failed.
    For,your info,i didn't create any user for import.System automatically created 'Portal30_SSO' user ,with it's default password during installation itself.
    I also tried chaning the password for portal30_sso.But all in vein.
    So can anybody guide me in this import issue ? Or else is there any other work around for bringing the application developed in development server to prod server( is there any way like taking a datafile backup and replacing it in PROD server to reflect the same changes ?) or what procedure do you follow to transport the developed application into Production server in your Organization.
    Thanks in advance.

    Wenjun,
    As a general rule, you can use DX EXPORT request to get the structure of XML script for DX IMPORT:
    <DX_REQUEST>
    <EXPORT>
    <USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
    <SITE>SK</SITE>
    <USER_GROUP>ADMINISTRATORS</USER_GROUP>
    </USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
    </EXPORT>
    </DX_REQUEST>
    In turn this gives me:
    <USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
      <USER_GROUP>ADMINISTRATORS</USER_GROUP>
      <MODIFIED_DATE_TIME_ISO>2010-01-25T16:03:33Z</MODIFIED_DATE_TIME_ISO>
      <DESCRIPTION>Administrators</DESCRIPTION>
      <SITE>SK</SITE>
    <USER_GROUP_MEMBER>
    <USER_OR_GROUP_GBO>
    <USR>
      <USER_ID>SITE_ADMIN</USER_ID>
      <SITE>SK</SITE>
      </USR>
      </USER_OR_GROUP_GBO>
      </USER_GROUP_MEMBER>
      <CREATED_DATE_TIME_ISO>2010-01-25T16:03:33Z</CREATED_DATE_TIME_ISO>
      </USER_GROUP_OBJECT>
    This structure with needed changes should be inserted into <DX_REQUEST><IMPORT>...</IMPORT></DX_REQUEST> script.
    Please note, that each time you send such script, the user group will be overwritten rather than updated with new users.
