I live in rural GA and on the edge of the Verizon 3G/1X coverage. Presently, I have dial-up for internet access which is ungodly slow; I am wanting to know if there is any equipment that can boost/improve the cellular signal to possibly use a Verizon aircard. I have researched installing an amplified antenna system; wondering if anyone else has had success with such!?

Solution: How to find the phone signal in fringe areas

This is not so much a question but a solution I accidentally found.
If you are in a weak signal area and the phone is stuck on "searching" or says "no signal" and you need to get it to find that phone signal all you need to do is push the phone shut off button on the top of the phone by holding it down until the shut down screen appears, but don't move the slider to shut down the phone.
Next, wait a few seconds and the phone signal will show up. In really fringy areas you may need to try twice.
There is no question that this phone is much more able to get weak signals than my 3GS.

1) from upper menu, select the "Environment" to :- Business blueprint
2) then select any folder on the left-hand-side
3) Now, click on 'Structure' tab
....and now, follow the steps as answered by you.
Also, after you have opened up the "History" dialog box ..... click on the "show scope info' ...... it will give you the entire change log.

Following are the performance standards need to be following in writing ABAP programs:
1.      Unused/Dead code
Avoid leaving unused code in the program. Either comment out or delete the unused situation. Use program --> check --> extended program to check for the variables, which are not used statically.
2.      Subroutine Usage
For good modularization, the decision of whether or not to execute a subroutine should be made before the subroutine is called. For example:
This is better:
IF f1 NE 0.
PERFORM sub1.
ENDIF.
FORM sub1.
ENDFORM.
Than this:
PERFORM sub1.
FORM sub1.
IF f1 NE 0.
ENDIF.
ENDFORM.
3.      Usage of IF statements
When coding IF tests, nest the testing conditions so that the outer conditions are those which are most likely to fail. For logical expressions with AND , place the mostly likely false first and for the OR, place the mostly likely true first.
Example - nested IF's:
IF (least likely to be true).
    IF (less likely to be true).
     IF (most likely to be true).
     ENDIF.
    ENDIF.
   ENDIF.
Example - IF...ELSEIF...ENDIF :
IF (most likely to be true).
ELSEIF (less likely to be true).

4.      CASE vs. nested Ifs

5.      MOVE statements
When records a and b have the exact same structure, it is more efficient to MOVE a TO b than to MOVE-CORRESPONDING a TO b.
MOVE BSEG TO *BSEG.
is better than
MOVE-CORRESPONDING BSEG TO *BSEG.
6.      SELECT and SELECT SINGLE
When using the SELECT statement, study the key and always provide as much of the left-most part of the key as possible. If the entire key can be qualified, code a SELECT SINGLE not just a SELECT.   If you are only interested in the first row or there is only one row to be returned, using SELECT SINGLE can increase performance by up to three times.
7.      Small internal tables vs. complete internal tables
In general it is better to minimize the number of fields declared in an internal table. While it may be convenient to declare an internal table using the LIKE command, in most cases, programs will not use all fields in the SAP standard table.
For example:
Instead of this:
data: t_mara like mara occurs 0 with header line.
Use this:
data: begin of t_mara occurs 0,
        matnr like mara-matnr,
        end of t_mara.
8.      Row-level processing and SELECT SINGLE
Similar to the processing of a SELECT-ENDSELECT loop, when calling multiple SELECT-SINGLE commands on a non-buffered table (check Data Dictionary -> Technical Info), you should do the following to improve performance:
o       Use the SELECT into <itab> to buffer the necessary rows in an internal table, then
o       sort the rows by the key fields, then
o       use a READ TABLE WITH KEY ... BINARY SEARCH in place of the SELECT SINGLE command. Note that this only make sense when the table you are buffering is not too large (this decision must be made on a case by case basis).
9.      READing single records of internal tables
When reading a single record in an internal table, the READ TABLE WITH KEY is not a direct READ. This means that if the data is not sorted according to the key, the system must sequentially read the table.   Therefore, you should:
o       SORT the table
o       use READ TABLE WITH KEY BINARY SEARCH for better performance.
10. SORTing internal tables
When SORTing internal tables, specify the fields to SORTed.
SORT ITAB BY FLD1 FLD2.
is more efficient than
SORT ITAB.
11. Number of entries in an internal table
To find out how many entries are in an internal table use DESCRIBE.
DESCRIBE TABLE ITAB LINES CNTLNS.
is more efficient than
LOOP AT ITAB.
CNTLNS = CNTLNS + 1.
ENDLOOP.
12. Performance diagnosis
To diagnose performance problems, it is recommended to use the SAP transaction SE30, ABAP/4 Runtime Analysis. The utility allows statistical analysis of transactions and programs.
13. Nested SELECTs versus table views
Since releASE 4.0, OPEN SQL allows both inner and outer table joins. A nested SELECT loop may be used to accomplish the same concept. However, the performance of nested SELECT loops is very poor in comparison to a join. Hence, to improve performance by a factor of 25x and reduce network load, you should either create a view in the data dictionary then use this view to select data, or code the select using a join.
14. If nested SELECTs must be used
As mentioned previously, performance can be dramatically improved by using views instead of nested SELECTs, however, if this is not possible, then the following example of using an internal table in a nested SELECT can also improve performance by a factor of 5x:

Although using "SELECT...FOR ALL ENTRIES IN..." is generally very fast, you should be aware of the three pitfalls of using it:
Firstly, SAP automatically removes any duplicates from the rest of the retrieved records. Therefore, if you wish to ensure that no qualifying records are discarded, the field list of the inner SELECT must be designed to ensure the retrieved records will contain no duplicates (normally, this would mean including in the list of retrieved fields all of those fields that comprise that table's primary key).
Secondly, if you were able to code "SELECT ... FROM <database table> FOR ALL ENTRIES IN TABLE <itab>" and the internal table <itab> is empty, then all rows from <database table> will be retrieved.
Thirdly, if the internal table supplying the selection criteria (i.e. internal table <itab> in the example "...FOR ALL ENTRIES IN TABLE <itab> ") contains a large number of entries, performance degradation may occur.
15. SELECT * versus SELECTing individual fields
In general, use a SELECT statement specifying a list of fields instead of a SELECT * to reduce network traffic and improve performance. For tables with only a few fields the improvements may be minor, but many SAP tables contain more than 50 fields when the program needs only a few. In the latter case, the performace gains can be substantial. For example:
Use:
select vbeln auart vbtyp from table vbak
into (vbak-vbeln, vbak-auart, vbak-vbtyp)
where ...
Instead of using:
select * from vbak where ...
16. Avoid unnecessary statements
There are a few cases where one command is better than two. For example:
Use:
append <tab_wa> to <tab>.
Instead of:
<tab> = <tab_wa>.
append <tab> (modify <tab>).
And also, use:
if not <tab>[] is initial.
Instead of:
describe table <tab> lines <line_counter>.
if <line_counter> > 0.
17. Copying or appending internal tables
Use this:
<tab2>[] = <tab1>[]. (if <tab2> is empty)
Instead of this:
loop at <tab1>.
append <tab1> to <tab2>.
endloop.
However, if <tab2> is not empty and should not be overwritten, then use:
append lines of <tab1> [from index1] [to index2] to <tab2>.

The AirPort Express would be a good choice to "extend" the wireless signal.
The best way to do this is locate the Express in the middle of the remote area that needs more coverage and then connect an Ethernet cable from the Express back to the AirPort Extreme.
If you cannot run the wiring, the Express can be configured to extend the signal using wireless only, but things are always "iffy" in this type of setup. When you do it this way, the Express must be located where it can receive a good wireless signal to be able to extend it.
That would generally be a location about half way between your AirPort Extreme and the general area that needs more wireless signal coverage. The potential problem here is obstructions since each "normal" wall in a home will absorb anywhere from 15-25% of the signal. A ceiling, since it is thicker will absorb even more.
Unfortunately, it's really not possible to say with accuracy whether extending using wireless only will do the job that you want. You could try it that way....but it would be wise to keep Plan B in mind....in case Plan A does not work out.

The best software to do what you want, is not on a Mac. It is a router.. gargoyle.
You can keep using the TC as wifi source but get a router that can can take gargoyle firmware.. the best in my testing is netgear WNDR3700. Gargoyle itself is a free download.

There are other routers and router boards it will work on.. but make sure you pick something compatible. I have used several different routers and the one above is the best so far.

How can I boost ipad3's antenna signal reception?

My Wifi router name don't appear in wifi networks list when I'm in the bedroom, where as all other devises like laptop, Blackberry can see the wifi router signal very well. If I keep my ipad3 very near to the wifi router it works well.

There's no hardware solution.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Hi- I read through some postings but really didn't see an answer to my issue. Most of that is due to the fact that I really didn't understand what was being said so I thought I'd ask my own question, in my words and maybe I can get an answer or two and get a bit more educated about this issue.
I have a MBP, upstairs here in the living room. Down in the basement is the spaceship-shaped-Airport router (Apple) that we have that serves my MBP, my hubby's G4 and my son's Dell. Prior to the MBP I had a G4 desktop that connected just fine with a very stable signal from the Airport router. Not so with this MBP. It goes up and down way too often. I am wondering if there is something that I can set up on my desk here that would wirelessly connect to the router downstairs that would help boost the signal. I really don't want anything that plugs in- I am already finding the scarcity of USB ports on this machine frustrating. Or if anyone has any other ideas, I am open for suggestions! i guess we should clarify some information.
first, changing the channel (from 1 to 11) does not change the wireless power signal and shouldn't make any difference unless there is another wireless network near your's using the same channel. check if your computer detect any other wireless other than your's. if it does, you can do testing by switching from channel 1, 6 and 11. but again, this will should not change your wi-fi coverage.
as for the coppertrail's post, I beleive he is refering to a setting in the Airport Extreme. Some wireless router have a setting to adjust the wireless signal power. this setting is intended to those who live in small apartment buildings that deliberatly want to reduce their wireless coverage to avoid other people live near them to use their signal. I do not know either if the Airport Extreme have this setting, but you should verify and adjust this to 100% output power using the Airport Assistant. IF you do have this setting and IF it is adjusted lower than 100%, this may solve your issue.
finally, moving your Airport Extreme will change nothing to your setup. regardless of its location, it will need to be plugged into an electrical outlet as well as your modem. so, you need to move your modem as well and depending if you have a coax cable or a DSL internet provider, you will to have a phone plug or a coax cable near to plug your modem. _the idea is to have the Airport Express near the center of the area you want to use its signal._ consider that any wall, floor or solid material will reduce the wireless signal. the best location will be where there will be the less walls between the Airport and your computer.
finally, the Airport Express will only extend your wireless coverage. It will act as a repeater; i.e. it will receive the signal sent by the Airport Extreme and resend the signal. so, if you place it somewhere where the signal of the Extreme is still there but low, the Express will receive the low signal and resent it full power. Express can only extend the range of another Express or a Extreme Base Station but it should work with your Dell running Linux.
hope this clarify this a little. but the way I understand your setup; is that you have your router on the basement while you try to use it two stories higher. I beleive this is expecting a little bit too much of wireless coverage. unless there is a physical obstacle to place your modem and the Airport near where you use it, do it. It will improve your setup.

How to improve performance of MediaPlayer?

I tried to use the MediaPlayer with a On2 VP6 flv movie.
Showing a video with a resolution of 1024x768 works.
Showing a video with a resolution of 1280x720 and a average bitrate of 1700 kb/s leads to a delay of the video signal behind the audio signal of a couple of seconds. VLC, Media Player Classic and a couple of other players have no problem with the video. Only the FX MediaPlayer shows a poor performance.
Additionally mouse events in a second stage (the first stage is used for the video) are not processed in 2 of 3 cases. If the MediaPlayer is switched off, the mouse events work reliable.
Does somebody know a solution for this problems?

How to improve speed of data acquisition? Help needed urgently.

I want to convert analog signals to digital signals and simultaneously perform some search on the data acquired and this whole process has to be done continuously for few hours.
So I tried writing two programs in Matlab, one acquires the analog data and converts it to digital and saves the data in small chunks on hard disk (like file1, file2, file3,...) continuously. The other program performs the search operation in those chunks of data continuously. I run both the programs at a time by opening two mat lab windows.
But the problem Iam facing is that the data acquisition is slow. As a result I get an error message in the second program saying that
"??? Error using ==> load
Unable to read file file4.mat: No such file or directory."
Iam unable to synchronize the two programs. I cannot use timers in search program because I cannot add any delays.
Iam using a NI PCI-6036E ,16 Bit Resolution ,200 KS/s Sampling Rate A/D board.
Should I switch to some other series such as M series having sampling rate of the order MS/s?
Can anyone please tell me how to improve the speed of data acquisition?

Your DAQ like to have a waveform (array of values and dt ak 1/samplerate)
If you set the samplerate you know the array length , create a array of zeros, and set the values of both amplitudes ...
Since I don't want to wire others homework here are some pictures
And there are some drawbacks is room for improvement in my solution, just think of rounding errors ... and what might happen if the arrays get bigger ....
